The document summarizes feedback received on a music video and ancillary tasks. Key points include:
- Outdoor night scenes had poorer picture quality than indoor/day scenes. The creator learned to ensure all scenes have good lighting.
- Many commented on poor lip syncing. The creator learned to check footage will match the song and have performers sing words.
- Varied locations kept the repetitive performance scenes interesting.
- Black and white created a somber, dramatic tone as intended.
- Some font on the digipak could be clearer. White space on the digipak front made it look "missing something."
2. STARTING WITH MY MUSIC VIDEO
FEEDBACK…
• I gained feedback from a selection of eight people, and after reviewing the
comments I have looked over my work again and considered whether I
agree with the comments, and which areas of my video could be improved.
• I am going to separate key criticisms and positive comments and consider if I
agree with them, and what I have learnt from this feed back.
3. ‘THE PICTURE QUALITY IN SOME
PLACES DOESN’T SEEM GREAT’
Do I agree?
After looking back over my footage I definitely agree with this statement, and I also think I was a fair point to
make as I feel that these areas of poor quality negatively effect the overall impact of the video. I noticed
that the poor quality occurs on the outdoor scenes that were shot at night or in dimly lit areas of the house,
where as the indoor scenes with bright artificial lighting or outdoor scenes shot during the day are of far
better quality.
Have I learnt anything from this?
If I were to film another video I would definitely ensure that all of my scenes were shot with good liking to
achieve maximum quality. I’ve also learnt how noticeable it is having some areas in good quality and some
that are poorer quality – unfortunately a real contrast can be seen.
4. I’ve kept minimized the image as little as possible so that the extent of the lack
of quality can be seen. This screenshot of outdoor shot shows why I agree with
this feedback.
5. ‘BETTER LIP SYNCHING WOULD OF
HELPED IT LOOK A BIT MORE
PROFESSIONAL’
•Do I agree?
• Although I’ve only included one of the comments, many members of my audience feedback
commented on the poor lip synching, and I definitely agree as it was a problem I was already aware of.
Unfortunately when I came to edit my video and put it all together I noticed that the lip movements were
impossibly to synch with the song, but there was too much footage to replace.
• Have I learnt anything from this?
• To me this has highlighted the importance of accurate lip synching as many of my audience members
picked up on it. Furthermore, it has taught me that at the time of filming I need to carefully review my
footage and ensure that it will be suitable for what I need it for. Perhaps asking my performing to actually
sing the words out loud would of made the mouth movements more believable.
6. ‘REPETITIVE IN PLACES’
• Do I agree?
• Although I can see where this audience member is coming from I don’t see it as a negative point
particularly. My video is largely performance based so requires a lot of similar scenes of the performer just
signing the song, however I feel I have made this less of a problem with fast paced editing and varied
locations and outfits, and I think I have made it less repetitive by having an element of narrative running
through it.
• Have I learnt anything from this?
• To me this has just emphasized the fact that to some extent performance based videos will
nearly always be repetitive, but with techniques such as fast paced editing they will just be
repetitive rather than boring.

7. I am now going to focus on some of the key positive points I received about
my music video, and consider whether I agree with them and what it has told
me about my video.
8. ‘’LOTS OF DIFFERENT LOCATIONS
KEPT IT INTERESTING’’
• Do I agree?
• I both agree with this statement and am glad that it was made my several of my
audience members, as including a large variety of locations was a deliberate action
that I took in order to make sure that the performance based areas of my video
were still interesting and engaging.
• Have I learnt anything from this?
• I think that this statement just confirmed my thoughts on how important variety is
within performance based videos. It would seem that because there was little else
to focus on during these parts, audience members have enjoyed taking note of the
scenery.

9. ‘MY FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THE
VIDEO IS DEFINITELY THE BLACK AND
WHITE – ITS GLOOMY BUT IN A GOOD
WAY’
• Do I agree?
• I think this audience member is suggesting that the use of black and white helps to
create the somber tone of the piece, which I agree with. I feel that removing all the
colour really added to a sad and reflective tone, and I’m glad that this seems to have
come across to the audience.
• Have you learnt anything from this?
• At the time when I was converting my video from black and white to colour it felt like a
huge risk, and I wasn’t sure how well it would be received. However I’m hoping that from
this audience feedback it has had the intened effect of creating a moody and dramatic
tone.

10. ANCILLARY TASKS FEEDBACK
• I am now going to look at the feedback I received for my ancillary tasks and
go through the same process of considering whether I agree with the
comments made, and whether it has taught me anything about my
products.
• I will once again separate criticisms from positive commenets, picking out
key points and quotes.
11. ‘WOULD OF PERHAPS LIKED TO SEE
MORE PICTURES OF THE ACTUAL
SINGER’
• Do I agree?
• I agree with this comment to some extent as I am aware that not having many images
of the main star can be risky, as audience members can risk being less aware of who the
product is by, especially when the images of my star that do appear on both of my
ancillary tasks both miss out her eyes as they are such extreme close up shots. However,
the idea of having so little images of the star is to make her image more mysterious, so
this is a deliberate action.
• Have I learnt anything from this?
• Not really but it has confirmed to me that not using the image of the star particularly to
promote the products is risky and challenges standard conventions.
Only 2 images

almost identical
12. ‘ I FOUND SOME OF THE FONT
WASN’T VERY CLEAR
• Do I agree with this?
• After looking back over my poster and digipak I do agree with this comment to some
extent, as some of the italic font used on the digipak especially could be clearer,
perhaps because it is on top of a background that also features italic font.
• Have I learnt anything?
• If I were to make my product again I would perhaps have to ensure my font was clearer,
possibly by using a different font or even putting it in bold or increasing the spacing
between letters. Audience members obviously look for products to be clear and
understandable.
Some audience members
may of found the letter
backgrounds unclear
13. ‘I FEEL LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING
MISSING FROM THE FRONT OF THE
DIGIPAK• Do I agree with this?
• After reviewing my digipak I can see where this audience member is coming from, and
when I was creating the product I found it difficult to find the balance from it looking too
plain and too busy. Lots of white spaces are used to make it look professional but this
can risk it looking like something is missing as this audience member has commented.
• Have I learnt anything?
• This has confirmed that it is difficult to find the balance between ‘too busy’ and too
simple, and if I were to add to my product I would probably put some reviews on the
cover, as I felt this looked good on my accompanying poster.

14. Overall, the process of gaining audience feedback has been very useful to
me, as its allowed me to consider other peoples opinions and take another
look at my based on this. I have evaluated the feedback I was given not only
to determine how I would be able to improve my video and ancillary tasks if I
were to make them again, but also to pick out the points that have been
particularly successful and therefore impressed my audience members.
