Luke Beckess conducted a survey about audience preferences for horror films and trailers. The survey found that over 3/4 of respondents watch horror films, with zombie and supernatural genres being most popular. Over half watch films in cinemas and on the internet more than TV. The Conjuring was the favorite film. Respondents thought trailers should be 1.30-2 minutes long and contain horror punk music. They felt 1-2 main characters in a trailer/film is best and suspense is very important in horror trailers. Over 3/4 said trailers should not reveal the plot and over half thought text could help explain trailers' plots.
