2. Audience gender.
This is a bar chart the represent
the feedback from the first
question on my questionnaire, the
results show how that there is
slightly more males that have
taken the questionnaire than
females as my target market is
aimed more at a male audience.
We can see how there is 12 males
compared to 8 females.

3. Age’s of my audience.
This feedback from this question is important because it allows me to see what
people in the ages that I am targeting want in a music magazine and allows
me to see what aspects of music magazines younger people want to see.
This is the results for my age
related question on my
00
questionnaire. The results show me
how that the majority of people who
3
I gave my questionnaire to are
between the age bracket of 16 and
25 while the other questionnaires
was given to people in a older age
bracket of 25-30.
Nobody in my target audience is
younger than 16 and nobody in my
target audience is 30 or over so
therefore I didn’t give my
17
questionnaires to people in these
age brackets.

music magazine?

This shows the results for the
question regarding the audiences
subscription, the graph shows how
the majority of individuals that took
my questionnaire do not subscribe
to or regularly purchase any music
magazine. However the information
is still important because it shows
me how that more people prefer
NME to any other music
magazine, this allows me to see
that there is more of an appeal to
the content that NME feature in
comparison to other music
magazines.

5. Preferred frequency of publication.
The people that I have responded
to my questionnaire said that they
would prefer a music magazine to
be released monthly rather than
weekly. 14 people said that they
would rather have a music
magazine monthly rather than the 6
people that wanted a weekly
subscription. This would mean that
I should look at releasing my
magazine monthly with more
content rather than a weekly
magazien.

6. Colours associated with Alternative
music.
This bar chart shows the results for what colours people best associate with the
alternative music genre, my results show how that there is a very wide variety of
colours that have been put down as answers on my questionnaires. The most
popular colour that people best associate with the genre is Red, as well as that
we see other popular colours such as black as well as blue. These are all
colours that people say they associate with the genre.

7. Magazine Content.
This was the results for a question about what content the audience would most
like to read about each week, As you can see the most popular response was
that people wanted to read more interviews than any other content this is
because magazines give people exclusive interviews and provide readers with
important information. Another area that people wanted content for was news gig
information I believe because young people are attracted to gigs and want to
know about gigs coming up as well as important information such as the price.
News updates also was a popular response, for this reason the magazine that I
produce would have to manage itself so it was informative as well as
entertaining.
Band reviews was also 20

a popular response as

8. Favourite Band/Artists.
This question on the questionnaire was related to the audiences favourite band
or artists on the music scene. This is important because it gives me an efficient
understanding of the music market for younger people and what artists are
popular. As you can see their was a real variety amongst the responses of the
questionnaire. Because there is such a variation between the amount of different
artist it shows how I would have to cover a lot of different content as well as that
the magazine showed me that the Arctic Monkeys are a popular band between

9. What is your favourite music
magazine?
This was an important question because it allowed me to see what music
magazine people like the most. The majority of people said that NME was
their favourite music magazine, NME is popular with younger people
because of the content that they use and the bands that they feature so it is
important for my music magazine to do the same. Q magazine is also a
popular choice for the readers however surprisingly nobody had any other
favourite magazine besides these two. This shows how the market is
dominated by these two and they would be the main competition.

10. What name best suites a music
magazine in the alternative genre?
This question related to the name of my magazine I gave the Audience three
options on the questionnaire and also a section for potential suggestions.
Unfortunately nobody suggested any other names so the only research I had
was on the responses that they ticked. The most popular choice was ‘distorted’
followed by Reflex. Soundwave proved to be a less popular choice and I decided
that my music magazine would not be called soundwave. This research was
helpful in deciding a name for my magazine.
