Based on my audience research survey, which I conducted, I was able to evaluate
my findings and use them as a guideline for my music video. This profile will be
based around the responses of my audience. To generalise my findings most of
my audience were:
ď‚· Female
ď‚· Over 25
ď‚· Favourite genre is Rock, Pop and Easy Listening
ď‚· People listen to music too many times to count
ď‚· They watched music videos regularly
ď‚· They listen to music via CD, other (this includes mobile and IPod) and
YouTube
ď‚· The most important thing in a music video is narrative, star performance
and live performance
I will now attempt to create a fictitious audience member based around my
findings.
My audience members name is Jean she is 27 years old and works at a bank. As
Jean is a busy person and doesn’t have time to socialise, she spends most of her
free time listening to music; she normally enjoys listening to Rock, Pop and Easy
Listening depending on her mood. For Jean music provides a way of escapism
from work, recently Jean has started watching music videos on YouTube, she
enjoys watching music that revolve around narrative, and believes that music is
a form of storytelling. Before she discovered YouTube she used to listen to music
by CD, Jean is a creative thinker and likes to interpret the lyrics in her own way,
so doesn’t like the meaning being obvious.
Jean favours video’s that don’t exactly focus on band performance unless the
band is playing is intertwined with the narrative. Instead Jean prefers to feature
the artists themselves singing. With the use of portable technology such as
mobiles and iPods, Jean can listen to music any where in the world she can also
watch music video’s during her break time at work.
