1. Who inspired you to become a DJ and why?
When and how did you become professional?
What equipment did you use?
Where was your favourite venue that you performed at?
Who was your favourite DJ/band as a kid?
1) Since I was as young as I remember I’ve always had an ear for music. My dad was a lover of rock
music and even though this isn’t the sort of music I produce now it all roots from there. I could hear
my Dad singing iron maiden at the top of his voice and I eventually began to get a feel for music. As I
grew up I hung around with the type of people that loved their music and a had a taste for it like I
did, my teenage years were probably the most important for my music because when I was 19 I got
my first venue and it all progressed from there.
2) Again, referring back to my first venue at 19, I got paid a small amount but it’s not about the
money, it’s about the free drinks! My first venue all came about from one of my university tutors, I
was studying music production and my tutor spotted out my ‘talent’ and asked me if I was interested
in doing a gig for a small crowd, just something to get me started and obviously I jumped at the
opportunity and everything luckily escalated from there.
3) I first started out with some Numark IDJ3 and later moved onto Pioneer CDJ-1000 when I made a
bit of money for myself.
4) On my 23rd
birthday I performed at a club in Manchester called Band On the Wall. The vibe was
good, no idiots about and everyone was there to celebrate my birthday… and to get smashed.
5) My favourite Band as a kid would probably have to be Guns and Roses purely because my Dad
didn’t stop playing em at full volume around the house. As I grew up a bit I then started finding my
own genre of music and settled with Drum and Bass and jungle.
