Target audience (media group 4) ppt

  1. 1. Target Audience Ed Sheeran
  2. 2. Ed Sheeran
  3. 3. between 15-25 years old roughly, which is near his age(20 Years Old).He is well known for being mostly self promoted - Hedoes everything himself including writing the songs. thisis very stereo typical for s singer songwriter. his dresswhere is close to main stream but it has a slight indie lookabout him which attracts both mainstream and indiepeople which widens his target audience. He was self promoted for quite a while, until he signed toasylum/atlantic records in 2011. Ed first began writingmusic and doing gigs in 2005. He supported artists suchas “Example” and “Just Jack”, which have a similar targetaudience to Ed Sheeran.
  4. 4. Ed went to Los Angeles, unsigned, andplayed as many open mic nights as hecould. Many of the people in his targetaudience would have gone to these openmic nights, this is how he began to get abigger fan base. After this his fan-base grew online,he posted videos of himself playinghis songs on youtube which gavehim a lot more publicity.Social networking sites likeFacebook also helped him gain abigger fan-base. He has his ownprofile, which people can „like‟,which shows up on other people‟snews feeds, so other people canfind out about him.
  5. 5. In 2011, Ed did an album of collaborationswith artists with a similar target audience –this helped him get more friends because theother artists he collaborated with, could alsopromote the songs.A couple of months later, he put on a gig atthe Barfly (well known venue in camden,London). Most of his target audience arestudents, so they don‟t have a lot of money,so this would more than likely have reallyappealed to them.Ed has a few songs on the applications calledspotify. A lot of young people use this, both ontheir computers and their mobiles. This allowspeople to find and listen to his music for free, and share music with other people. This reallyappeals to a younger audience as they don‟tusually have a lot of money, so they don‟treally want to have to pay for music.
