1. Audience
Information
Music magazines are a source of information for an audience, they tell them about up and
coming events, review past events and let the readers know about the music and what is soon
to be coming out. Alongside that, they give interviews of the artist and give stories on their
lives. For example, top of the pops gives detailed interviews on the artist opinions about life and
society rather than their music so it is more personal to that artist
Personal identity
Music magazines give a range of artist to add variety to the content. This enables more people
to become interested and therefore they receive a wider target market.
Integration and social Interaction
The interviews give an insight into what the lives of the celebrities are like. This relates to the
readers and makes then feel at one with the artist. Also, people identify with the artists. For
example a young girl reading about Demi Lovato may relate to her issues and they then see her
as a role model.
Entertainment
The magazines are an escape from the real world for some. Reading about someone else's
problems make your own feel smaller for a bit and this is the relaxation that the audience
wants. Having pictures of celebrities gives a sense of sexual arousal for some. This is relieved by
looking at the pictures in the magazines and gives them an emotional release.
