1. • In our audience research we asked both male and
females between the ages of 17 and 18 to tell us what
they thought of our trailer. We did this because when we
where planning our trailer we thought that the plot of
the film and the genre would appeal to this age range
more than any other.
• When doing audience research before making the trailer
we found that females would be more likely to watch this
film than males, this was because the cast of the film is
mainly female and it’s a psychological thriller from a very
female viewpoint rather than a male or equal one.
• We also found from our individual interviews audience
research that people from all ethic background would be
interested in watching the film and this is something that
was consistent when we conducted audience research
after we had finished the trailer
2. • From our audience research we found that our trailer
did come across as a psychological action thriller which
is what we intended it to be.
• We also found that our audience weren’t all completely
sure what the plot of the film is and don’t think that
they could guess how the film would end but they all
said that they would go and watch it to find out. This
shows that our trailer was successful as it doesn’t give
away the film narrative but does make people what to
go see it which is the objective of film trailers.
• However there were things that we could have
improved according to the audience. They said that the
music on the trailer wasn’t great and could be a little
jarring, this is something that we fixed in our final draft
of the trailer. One of the people we interviewed said
that we didn’t reveal enough in the trailer this is
something that we tried to amend but found that when
we added more footage the film became more
predictable which isn’t what we wanted.
