OUR RESPONSE TO
OTHER’S COMMENTS
WHY WAS OUR PITCH SUCCESSFUL?
Our pitch was successful because our peers believed that
we showed that we will be using a good range of assets.
For example, we had a wide range of locations for our
peers to see by using our images that we took in potential
places. We also did not waste any time we talked about
what needed to be said and then we moved onto the next
point. We provided theories that worked with our movie for
example Toddoroff’s theories.
WHAT DID OUR PEERS THINK OF
OUR PITCH?
• It was rather informative and presented into a clear and
concise way as we made relevant points, avoiding any
tangents in our pitch.
• Was very specific and focused on many aspects of the
film planning process.
• Provided many examples relating to our movie pitch to
allow for a better understanding from our audience.
ISSUES WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED AND
HOW WE WILL RESOLVE THEM
• Lack of showing parallels of the parents- we decided to instead of
focusing on the foster parent and the biological parent’s parallels we
would look at the emotionally parallels between our main character
and his foster parent on how they are feeling about the day ahead.
• The main actor doesn’t fit the stereotype- Taking this on board we
re-looked at our main character and reconsidered him. Afterwards
we actually found someone who would fit the stereotype better. We
then called both actors to an auditions and asked them to portray
the main emotions that would be shown in our movie. After
analysing the marks we reviewed them on our other actor, Nhiem
Lewis, fit the role better.
ISSUES WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED AND
HOW WE WILL RESOLVE THEM
• Change the ending to be more happy- We took this on board and
instead of not giving Sam the choice to see her parent we changed it to
allow her to deny the parent the ability to see them. We then changed
the ending to show the bond between the foster parent and the child
that has grown over the year.
• The bully’s don’t have a proper reason- We looked into the script and
our plot and we have added a scene to give them reasons based
around the main actor and how they look and have them given them
reasons to bully them later on in the movie.
• Problems with plot points- We had an issue with why our main
character would go to a specific place in the first case. Looking into this
we set up prior hints to help the foster dad know where the foster child
has gone to. We have also added a scene where Sam overhears her
foster dad talking about her and the conversation sounds bad. This
triggers her to run away to the place she has been hinting at all along.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO?
After receiving our feedback we worked quickly on how to
fix our issues so we have less to work out now but we do
need to:
• Re-read through the script we have so far and add more
scenes to show character development
• Look into the stereotypes to see what we need to do to
make sure our actors fit into their stereotypes.
