Designing the “70”: Design thinking and the 70:20:10 learning modelSprout Labs
Learning while working doesn’t just happen. The “70” in the 70:20:10 model needs to be designed. When we speak with learning and development professionals they often want to know about solutions that have worked elsewhere. But each organisation's context is different and requires a different learning approach. What’s really needed is new ideas. This webinar explored how design thinking can be used to generate new ideas and new approaches to designing on-the-job learning.
How to make sure you 702010 model is successful - webinar slidesSprout Labs
The 70:20:10 model is not easy to transform into reality. Learning and development people are often unsure about where to start with the model. Sprout Labs has put together the Learning While Working Framework to help guide the design and implementation of 70:20:10 learning models. The 1st stage of the Sprout Labs Learning While Working Framework is understanding. This stage is a mixture of understanding the business problem, understanding the learners, and understanding the context. The understanding stage of project is the bedrock that makes sure your 70:20:10 model is successful.
This webinar explored:
- why this understanding phase is important for the success for 70:20:10
- what are the best projects to work on when get started with a 70:20:10 model
- how the understanding phase can be used to engage stakeholders
- how techniques from design thinking and lean manufacturing can be used in learning
- the use of learner and stakeholder personas.
We are all learning most of the time, but we often don’t recognise this! Many people only feel they have had some development if they have been on a course. Courses can be a great way to develop people, though they can be expensive and people are not always able to put what they have learned into practice when they come back to the work place.
In this on demand webinar, Developing People with the 70/20/10 Model, Jayne McPhillimy has introduced different ways of recognising, and therefore encouraging the development of your people through a range of interventions.
These interventions are often more effective than a traditional course approach and are invariably a more cost effective option.
At the end of this practical on demand webinar recording, you will:
Understand the 70/20/10 Model for Learning & Development and how this approach could support the development of the people in your business.
Widen the scope for what is considered to be learning and development activity in your business.
Understand how you can use this approach to build a ‘Learning Culture’, where people firstly recognise the learning opportunities around them and then actively seek them out.
Be able to move people away from the idea that learning only happens on a Training Course
This webinar is aimed at all those involved in developing staff from HR Managers to Senior Business Leaders and Managers.

Numerous successful organisations currently use the online Toolkit for Managers to support their management populations. We’d like to show you why, by demonstrating how this resource delivers flexible, inspirational performance support for your leaders and managers.
Embed and extract learning in work, 70:20:10 is the buzz word. It is linked to performance and performance support.
What is the embedded learning design? what is the dream and destination?
For sure, it is a new learning paradigm.

Designing Digital Learning Ecosystems with 70:20:10 Learning ModelSprout Labs
Learning and development is changing rapidly. The focus is moving beyond courses, and the rapid adoption of a 70-20-10 model is a key part of this transformation. The concept of a ‘learning ecosystem’ gives us an elegant way to explain what these new approaches are and how the different components work together. But how to actually design and implement a learner-centred ecosystem is not always straightforward. During this interactive webinar we will explore how to make effective learning ecosystems a reality.

Description:
Without performance support, people are less effective in their professional and personal lives. Do you still calculate in your head or organize your life without an electronic agenda? Performance support is everywhere and always present. Combined with smart technology, it is the new trend in (mobile) learning. Performance support: a short cut for training with a positive business case. Usually training is only available before or after the execution of a task. However, when it is necessary to put those lessons into practice (the moment of need), training is not accessible. This is the exact moment where performance support can add value. The speakers will share how they succeeded in improving business results in several organizations, as well as lessons learned. You will get tips and tricks and a job aid with which you can immediately start to design your own performance support within a digital workscape. It is hard to imagine that the role of L&D will not shift from delivering formal training to supporting 70:20:10. A performance support storm is especially expected in supporting "70," resulting in new opportunities for L&D and a shift to its core business. Compared to traditional formal training, this approach will have a positive business case. The L&D dream comes true!Apply a job aid to design performance support in your own organization as important element in a (digital) workscape. It is difficult it is to identify companies that have scalable business models AND equally important will they be able to execute their business plans. We have been working on this challenge now for over 4 years. In the past, a few interviews and some financial analysis might have been enough. Today, markets are more complex, and businesses are harder to evaluate. To solve this challenge have recently combined over 10 years of research on more than 10,000 companies to create an assessment that objectively measures: 1/. Scalability of the business 2/. And their ability to deliver innovation consistently.
The accuracy of our assessments are very good. Right now, with a 1-hour assessment, we are able to correctly classify businesses by scalability and able to predict just under 80% of their variance of innovation success
The Agile Activity based Seating Report 2018 - PresentationMia Kolmodin
There is an increasing trend in Sweden to move in to something commonly called Activity Based Seating, what we discovered is often confused with Flexible Seating. We couldn’t find any data on the actual impact of these kind of seatings for Agile Teams. Thats why we did a survey to uncover the “truth” with 177 people answering and an open space session to learn more about what learnings are out there from people working Agile.
The survey was presented at Agila Sverige 2018 and can be found here > At an Open Space session we got together to share experiences people had around ABS. The result of both is shared in this free infographic and we hope this information can bring value to you and your organization so that you can find better solutions together. Please feel free to use the content in any way you like. We would though be happy if you would refer to Dandy People if you take any content out of context.

Jan Schilt, Owner Founder, GamingWorks BV
This presentation will explore how the business simulation game “The Phoenix Project” based on the book of the same name can greatly improve the success of your DevOps investment. As case studies reveal there are enormous benefits to be realized by adopting DevOps, however industry trends reveal that many will fail as a result of ‘Cultural and behavioral issues and failing to adequately address organizational change. We have seen with ITIL how many organizations failed to gain the promised benefits because they could not translate the theory into practice and the belief that a tool would solve all their issues. Let us not make the same mistakes with DevOps. In this presentation we will show you how a business simulation can increase the velocity of your adoption, create buy-in, improve communication and collaboration skills between Dev and Ops, and capture concrete, shared, improvement actions aimed at creating success.

Design Studio: The User Experience Practitioner’s Secret WeaponBrilliant Experience
We all want the best , but often other priorities get in the way: “Bob from Marketing wants it to…”, “The developers don’t like that approach...”, “That feature is a ‘nice to have’”.
This slide deck will walk you through a design studio and how it can be a great tool to align product owners, developers and UX teams on an approach that balances user and business needs.
It appears that a significant change in a large company requires massive efforts. But actually some simple principles allow you to make large scale changes even in the work of people that do not report you.
The story tells how we significantly increased employee engagement. And it is not just about Agile and Lean. There are some tricks like critical move, rider, elephant and shaping the path.

Design Thinking is a process for creative problem solving. It allows everyone to use creative tools to address a vast range of challenges. The process is action-oriented, embraces simple mindset shifts and tackles problems from a new direction.
According to McKinsey, companies that adopt design as part of business practices can be more resilient than others—continuing to innovate, analyze, and strategize to solve complex problems during trying times.
Some of the world's leading brands, such as Apple, Nike, Starbucks and GE, have rapidly adopted the Design Thinking approach. What's more, Design Thinking is being taught at leading universities around the world, including Stanford, Harvard and MIT.
Based on the world-renowned Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (Stanford University) model, Design Thinking encourages organizations to focus on the people they are creating for, which leads to better products, services, and internal processes. The Design Thinking framework consists of five modes or phases: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. The framework is fully compatible with Lean and Six Sigma approaches.
This comprehensive Design Thinking PPT training presentation is tailored specifically for Design Thinking facilitators, trainers, professionals and consultants who are preparing for delivery in a classroom or workshop environment. The included wallet design exercise could be replaced with your own design challenge. In addition, the introductory module can be used as a stand-alone awareness briefing material for a general audience.
You will get to train your target audiences how to solve problems creatively by building empathy, generating ideas, prototyping and testing new concepts before final implementation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Acquire a deep understanding of the key concepts and principles of Design Thinking
2. Understand the mindsets, process, methods and tools in creative problem solving
3. Develop skills in applying Design Thinking mindsets and practices in problem solving
