Art History Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Art History" can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies in the vastness and complexity of the subject matter. Art history encompasses a
wide range of periods, styles, movements, and artists, each with its own intricate context,
significance, and influence.
Researching and synthesizing information from various sources such as textbooks, scholarly
articles, museum archives, and historical documents is essential. Understanding the cultural,
social, and political factors that shaped artistic expression throughout different eras adds another
layer of complexity.
Crafting a coherent and insightful essay requires not only a deep understanding of art history but
also strong analytical and critical thinking skills. It involves interpreting artworks within their
historical and cultural contexts, analyzing their formal qualities, and evaluating their impact and
significance.
Moreover, expressing complex ideas and arguments in a clear and organized manner is crucial.
Structuring the essay effectively, providing relevant evidence to support claims, and articulating
a well-defined thesis statement are essential components of a successful art history essay.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of "Art History" presents various challenges, it
is also an opportunity to explore and appreciate the rich tapestry of human creativity and
expression across time and cultures.

529 Savings Plan Case Study
David Schleis Using 529 plans to save for college
Exploring the Details of a 529 Savings Plan
David Schleis and his colleagues at DS Financial Advisors, Inc help families to set
up 529 Savings Plans in Pennsylvania. This group of well respected Tax Preparers
and accountants comprehend the benefits and details surrounding this educational
savings program. If you have a child, or a child in your life, he recommends that
you find a tax professional in your area who can help you set up the 529 Saving Plan
to prepare for their educational future.
What is a 529 Savings Plan?
In recent years, the cost of tuition has increased to an astounding rate. Most parents
are not in a position to pay the full cost of their child s higher education. Sadly, ...

If, for example, a 529 Savings Plan is opened for your oldest child, and they decide
to join the military instead of going to college, that account can be transferred to
another child in the family. In this way, these plans can also be split between multiple
children. Instead of joining the military, maybe that child chooses a college that costs
far less money than is saved, or maybe they receive scholarship and grant money to
offset their tuition costs. The money that is not used toward that child can be moved
to another child, by turning them into the new
Theoretical Burnout In The Nursing Profession
Burnout is a vocational syndrome that can manifest in any field; those that work in
the helping and healthcare professions have added considerations that potentially
place them at additional risk. Whereas occupational burnout typically is characterized
by increasing work expectations and decreasing support and recognition, mental
health clinicians are also vulnerable to compassion fatigue and vicarious
traumatization. These can manifest beyond the usual burnoutsymptoms of emotional
exhaustion, depersonalization, and decreasing feelings of accomplishment (Kerr,
2016). Self care, self directed by the clinician, can act as a first line defense against
these serious problems, and along with the buffer of organizational supports, can
mitigate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is estimated that 24 million Americans (roughly 8%) will experience trauma at
some point in their lives, for mental health workers it is almost six times higher (up to
50%) according to Sansbury, Graves, Scott (2014); they further report that trauma can
have a profound and deep effect, citing recent studies that documented DNA level
aging in children exposed to trauma. The practitioner that works in trauma adheres to
trauma informed care core principles: safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, and
choice. To be effectively vigilant of meeting these principles, the clinician needs to be
cognizant of his or her own traumatic stress responses. An overidentification with the
client, due to repeated exposure to the client s trauma through processing or story
content can result in vicarious trauma. When a mental health professional is
experiencing vicarious trauma, this can manifest as being overly cautious, outward or
inward expressions of anger or sadness, changes in their own belief systems,
suffering, feeling unsafe, a reduction in sense of self, being suspicious or paranoid,
distancing from interpersonal relationships, and overall negative affect. The same
authors suggest that countertransference and poor coping skills are the first red flags
of traumatization susceptibility (Sansbury, Graves, Scott,
The Change In Style Of Jazz Bass

Explore the change in style of jazz bass since the introduction of electric bass (bass
guitar)
Modern 4 string, fretted, horizontally played electric bass was first introduced by
Paul Tutmarc in the 1930s. Later in 1950s Leo Fender developed this idea so it
could be mass produced and finally introducing the Fender Precision bass in 1951.
Electric bass then started to coexist with the double basses in jazz, since there were
bassists starting to use electric bass as they are easier to be played, could be easily
transported, and were able to be amplified to any volume without feeding back

How Did Carrie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis Impact Society
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was the nation s thirty fifth first lady and one
of the most influential people in American history. Jacqueline, more commonly
known as Jackie, affected the political world with her tasteful and intelligent
approaches to her duties as First Lady. Not only did she affect politics, Jacqueline
impacted American society with her iconic personality traits and multiple
accomplishments. Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis s work as First Lady
greatly influenced the nation s people and politicians. Jacqueline Bouvier was born
into a family that was able to provide her with many luxuries and privileges. Jackie

However, ever since she was a little girl, Jackie was unimpressed with the interior
of the building. Janet Kennedy, Jackie s mother, one took her daughters to visit the
National Gallery and the White House when they were young. Jackie was highly
impressed by the Gallery, but was extremely let down by the White House. The
lack of history inside upset her, since there was not much for a child like her to
take away from the experience. Mrs. Eisenhower was the first to give Jacqueline an
official tour of the White House. Then again, Jackie was shocked and offended by
the dreary appearance of interior (Flaherty 86). Jacqueline described certain rooms to
be tattered, worn, and seemed to have no rhyme or reason. I [Jackie] felt sad for the
neglected rooms...it disturbed me to know that these badly designed, poorly
maintained rooms belonged to the United States (Spoto 41). At the time, the White

The Impact Of Mobile Telephone Technology On Human
Social...
As afore discussed, telephone technology has overwhelming positive impacts (e.g.
space adjusting; intimacy at a distance ) on human lives, yet recent scholars (e.g.
Ling, 1997; Caporael and Xie, 2003; Campbell and Park, 2008) illustrate some
negative impacts of telephone uses, especially mobile telephony, on human social
lives. The first negative impact brought by mobile telephoneis the use of public space
privately. According to research findings of Campbell and Park (2008), the negative
social impacts of mobile telephone technology firstly lied on using mobile telephone
in public space (e.g. park; restaurant; shop; school) as one s personalised public space
, that is, public space is appositely designated for personal objectives. In a public
setting, for instance, mobile telephony always offers its users unsolicited melodies
and the copresent bystander way to interact socially; consequently, the bystanders
unconsciously become audience of the telephone conversation (Campbell and Park,
2008: 377). Moreover, the study of Ling (1997) noted that there are some settings
(e.g. theaters; meetings; restaurants; trains; churches) in which bystander basically
found mobile phones irritated, offended or embarrassed when someone uses mobile
telephony. She also claimed that chatting on the mobile telephone in a public space
often compel copresent others towards an awkward situation of unwillingly
eavesdropping (Ling, 1997). Arguably, uses of telephone technology,
Genetic Identification And Forensic Analysis
Genetics are known for being common identifiers for individual people. If you have a
sample of DNA, you can determine who it came from. This technique is used in
forensics, or the scientific investigation of crime. Things as small as Fingerprints and
strands of hair can solve entire crimes and determine the culprits involved. Without
these techniques, many crimes may remain unsolved forever.
The concept of genetic profiling through fingerprints was first introduced in the 1980
s (Paul Johnson, Robin Williams, 2006). While at first it was primarily carried out on
high profile cases, most modern crime investigations use some form of genetic
identification technique. The technology behind DNA identification has been rapidly
growing. Instead of
Duty Of Care
The purpose of this written assessment is to explain the term duty of care and what
the term means for a health care professional. In this instance, the assessment
explores the role of a paramedic and when their duty of care would come into play.
The term duty of care can be defined as a legal obligation that the safety and
wellbeing of a person is a priority (Eburn, 2010). The paramedic has a duty of care
as soon as they arrive at the scene where the patient is located. As a paramedic, the
duty of care is to provide the correct care for different medical situations and ensuring
that the care is in the best interest of the patient (The Council of Ambulance
Authorities, 2010). The paramedic also has the duty of maintaining the correct and
professional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The patient has a legal right to accept or decline the medical help from a paramedic.
In the instance of a patient declining medical help the paramedic must accept the
patient s decision and must conduct an assessment for the validity of the patients
decision (Clinical Quality Patient Safety Unit, QAS, 2015). The assessment that is
performed is known as VIRCA; Voluntary, Informed, Relevant, Capacity, Advice
(Clinical Quality Patient Safety Unit, QAS, 2015). This assessment will inform the
patient that the decision made is voluntarily and was not influenced by anything or
anyone. The patient is then informed of all possible risks and consequences that may
occur since medical treatment or transport was declined (Clinical Quality Patient
Safety Unit, QAS, 2015). The refusal has to be valid and the patient should not be
specifically refusing treatment for an unjustifiable reason e.g. the patient does not
like a particular hospital; the patient has the capacity to refuse treatment and/or
transport and understands the risks, and finally the paramedic will give advice and
recommendations about safety so that the patient s decision not to be treated or
transported can be complied with by the paramedic (Clinical Quality Patient Safety

Essay Mang Minno
Allusions to Vampires in Mang Minno In Mang Minno , a short story within
Where The Elephants Dance by Tess U Holthe , a young boy named Roman
encounters a man named Mang Minno, who is believed by the island people to be
Jonah from the Bible. When Roman meets him, he wishes to learn how to catch
fish, so that he can show them to his father. He thinks that all he is getting himself
involved in is a method with which to gain large amounts of fish, very quickly.
However, he soon finds that he is getting involved in something far more sinister. As
the story progresses, it becomes clear the Mang Minno is some sort of evil entity.
However, without looking for clues as to who and what Mang Minno is, this story
cannot be fully... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These clues are the most direct in the story, they take traits directly from vampire folk
lore and superimpose them on Mang Minno.
Mang Minno s attitude and aura are both also similar to that of a vampires; rather
vile and dark. His aura is well illustrated with the following examples: His voice is
described as having an unsettling effect on Roman: The bitterness of his voice
touched me like fingers of the dead (81). This simile, referring to the dead, shows
that Roman may subconsciously be aware of what Mang Minno is. After all,
vampires are regarded as not being truly alive, but being life forces of the deceased.
Mang Minno s eyes are described as glowing (90), when Roman sees him from the
boat he is riding with Aurora (Mang Minno s daughter). Mang Minno s attitude is
also illustrated by way of the disdainful comments he makes about church:
In church, does it ever seem to you a kind of game? Hypocritical. Be humble, they
say, yet people come in their best clothes. Give penance, yet as they close their eyes
and kneel, they compare who is better dressed, the beauty of someone else s wife, the
sway of her hips, they think of anything but prayers.
(96)
This attitude is vile and dark, which Roman sees. It also fits in with the accounts of
Mang Minno being a devil worshiper, he would obviously be against God and
churches. All of the above demonstrates Mang Minno s
Analysis Of The Movie Tombstone
Tombstone Tombstone the movie was based on the historical events that actually
took place in Tombstone, Arizona. A ex sheriff, Wyatt Earp came into town to
reunite with his two brothers and a old friend, Doc Holliday. They planned on
getting rich and settling down in Tombstone, Arizona to retire. Their plans
however were interfered with by a group of outlaws called the cowboys, who were
causing problems for the people in Tombstone. The 3 brothers ended up becoming
sheriffs and planned to deal with the cowboys once and for all, the cowboys having
mutual feelings which lead to the battle at the O.K. corral. The scene where the
Cowboys shot the people at the church right after a couple had gotten married stood
out to me. It showed how much they take their gang seriously since the groom had
killed a cowboy. They had shot and killed multiple people, including a priest and the
groom, leaving the wife crying over her husbands body. The... Show more content on

Wyatt was caught cheating on Mattie with a woman, doesn t say whether or not it
was Mattie or not, and they broke up. Wyatt and Josie ended up together in the end,
just like in the movie. Another Inaccurate thing that happened in the movie was the
scene where Wyatt, Doc Holliday, and two ex cowboys went after all the cowboys,
killing them off. They did this, but it said they killed about 27 cowboys in the movie
when only four cowboys deaths were actually recorded.
I think the movie showed factors of being political. The cowboys were basically a
group of guys that refused to listen to the law, and the lawman tried their best to
enforce the laws in the town. That makes it seem political in my point of view
because politics have to do with government and law. The sheriffs had to take the
law in their own hands, and bring peace and justice back to the town. This is just like
how things are done with our own police forces and government
24 Hours in Amman
The City So you made it to Amman. Really! You re only spending a day here. Let
me get you up to speed then since time is of the essence. Amman is the capital and
heart of Jordan, the modern city is less than 100 years old, however,
archaeological discoveries proved that it was inhabited as early as 10000 BC!
Persians, Macedonians and Romans are only but few of the nations that ruled they
city. Amman is often dubbed The City of 7 Hills because it was originally built on
7 hills, but now it spans over an area of 19 hills. Best time to visit is definitely
between March and May, which is the brief Spring season when it s warm but not
scorching! Must See A few nations left their mark on Amman, so there a few sites
that are worth seeing. But since your stay is somewhat brief, let s limit it to two
historical landmarks. Start off by going to the Roman theater in downtown, a
spacious, majestic structure reminiscent of the times when gladiators battled in the
arena, if you listen intently, you might still hear the cheers of spectators and the
sound of swords clashing in a fierce duel. Roman theater also houses the Jordanian
Museum of Popular Traditions on the one side, and the Amman Folklore Museum on
the other. If you walk uphill for a little while, on one of the 7 hills the city originally
was built on, you ll find the Citadel. A national historical site that endured the test of
time, and evidence that Amman knew civilization centuries and centuries ago,
making it one of the
Feminine Absorption In Tom Brown s Schooldays
Feminine Absorption As the quintessential English public school identity formation
experience novel, Thomas Hughes s Tom Brown s Schooldays highlights the
masculine identity with the Rugby School experiences of bullying, sport, and
compassion. As the roadmap for the English adolescent s journey toward manhood,
Hughes creates the formula to transcend from the adolescence into the true manliness
form. Hughes s character, Tom Brown, can only complete this ideal masculine model
by absorbing the compassionate, motherly female qualities instead of rejecting them.
Tom s journey toward his manhood starts by his departure from not only his home to
private boarding school, but also from the matriarch. Hughes describes their mother
son relationship saying, Their love was as fair and whole as human love can be,
perfect self sacrifice on the side meeting a young and true heart on the other (57).
His connection to his mother did not sever when he does go away to school. Even
though it may seem that the relationship must sever, it truly cannot. It must
however transfer from the mother to her son. Tom manages to fill two sides of a
sheet of letter paper with assurances of his love for dear momma (58). Tom s
motherly love must continue for this feminine quality of love to transfer. When his
letter is duly delayed due to a letter sealing technicality, two boys tease him by
calling him Young mammy sick! (58). It is here that Tom experiences his first bout
of bullying and the loss of
The On Brown Coal Gasification
Introduction
In Australia, Victorian brown coals represent a significant, low cost energy resource
with reserves of 430 billion tonnes. However, its utilization is limited to mine mouth
power generation using conventional pulverized coal fired combustion units at
relatively low efficiencies [1]. Therefore, it is necessary to assess and develop
alternative utilization techniques for this vast resource, such as gasification. Among
different gasifiers, the entrained flow gasifier is attractive for commercial plants
because of its feedstock flexibility and clean gas product. However, the technological
information on brown coal gasification is limited. There has been one study
reporting on pressurized fluidized bed gasification of Victorian brown coals at a
pilot scale, but the carbon conversion of Victorian brown coals is quite low[12].
In this study, information on the gasification behaviour of two Victorian brown
coals, Yallourn (YL) and Morwell (MW) coal, is reported, including the release of
alkali, sulphur, and chlorine spieces, carbon conversion, and gas quality during CO2
gasification. The relation between 100% carbon conversion and residence time was
investigated by regasifying the chars after every run of 5 6s residence time. This
study generates fundamental information that will be useful for the design of
commercial entrained flow gasifiers using Victorian brown coals.

Moral And Ethical Issues In The Giver
In The Giver by Lois Lowry the main character Jonas is chosen to be The Receiver
of Memory but he soon realises that the community he is a part of is not as perfect
as it seems. Throughout The Giver Lowry stresses that people must not blindly obey
the rules that have been placed for them to follow. In doing this Lowry also addresses
many moral and ethical issues such as: Lying, whether euthanasia is acceptable and
whether sameness is more important than having a choice. Through Jonas, Lowry
questions these moral and ethical issues to warn us not to blindly obey, but to think

Throughout The Giver lying is a big issue for Jonas. Jonas has been told his whole life

The short story Clothes is written by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni in 1995. Clothes is
about a young Indian woman called Sumita, and she is having an arranged marriage.

Irony In A Small Place
This story A Small Place has a voice of anger because the author uses irony and points

The Lost Iago in Othello
In Shakespeare s Othello the sinister nature of the ancient casts a pall of uneasiness
over the narrative of the play. How can the evil influence of one character be so
pervasive? Let us in this essay probe his character and find answers to our questions.
In Historical Differences: Misogyny and Othello Valerie Wayne exposes Iago s
inability to praise women when Desdemona asks him how he would do it:
Iago s worry that he cannot do what Desdemona asks implies that his dispraise of
women was candid and easily produced, while the praise requires labour and
inspiration from a source beyond himself. His insufficiency is more surprising
because elsewhere in the play Iago appears as a ... Show more content on

Evidence of his psychopathic personality is seen early in the play. He manipulates
the wealthy Roderigo into awakening the senator Brabantio ( Rouse him: make
after him, poison his delight ); and then he utters very offensive smutty lines about
a black ram and white ewe, which indicate the way his sick mind operates. Iago s
very language reveals the level at which his evil mind works. Francis Ferguson in
Two Worldviews Echo Each Other describes the types of base, loathsome imagery
used by the antagonist Iago when he slips his mask aside while awakening Brabantio:
Iago is letting loose the wicked passion inside him, as he does from time to time
throughout the play, when he slips his mask aside. At such moments he always
resorts to this imagery of money bags, treachery, and animal lust and violence. So
he expresses his own faithless, envious spirit, and, by the same token, his vision of
the populous city of Venice Iago s world, as it has been called. . . .(132)
He seems to be motivated by love of money which he has been receiving from
Roderigo for some time ( thou, Iago, who hast had my purse / As if the strings were

Hail, Caesar
Historically famous movies have a few things in common, the most important of
which is that they set up a plot and follow it. Movies such as the godfather and 12
angry men keep the plot interesting and constantly turning but never lose the
audience, this allows for clear storytelling to happen. In the case of Hail, Caesar! The
directors and story tellers do not keep the audiencereeled in, but they leave the
audience with no closure. They give no closure without a cliffhanger, the Coen
Brothers cut one branch of the story off and go off into a completely different area
of the story, never returning to characters in previous scenes. Although the
storytelling and pacing was off, the movie did have some positive aspects. Hail,

The Midnight Riders
The story of the midnight ride is one of controversy, many wonder who was the one
to actually deliver the message, and which is the most important. All those who
journeyed on the midnight ride were equally important because its story lives in
infamy. Charles J. Caes, the author of the article Midnight Riders, argues that Samuel
Prescottis the most important and underrated midnight rider. Caes also argues that
Prescott should receive more credit than the others who joined him on the ride. In
actuality, Prescott is not as brave and heroic as Caes makes him out to be. The
things that Samuel Prescott had accomplished before the midnight ride are not as
impressive as Caes makes them out to be. Also, The fact that Samuel was the one to
complete the mission is not as important as the bravery it takes to even go on the
mission. Those that choose their fate are more heroic than those who stumble upon it.
Samuel C. Prescott possesses the same amount of courage as any ordinary man
can. Caes chose to describe Samuel Prescott s retreat from the British as heroic. He
used words to create a valiant image, such as, swashbuckling and daredevil like, in
order to pursue his audience (Caes 42). When Charles J. Caes story is stripped of its

Crimson with fury, Oliver started up; overthrew the chair and table; seized Noah by

and collecting his whole force into one heavy blow, felled him to the ground.
This quote describes how Oliver acted with rage when Noah abused his mother.
The remarks in the beginning of chapter 6 are highly ironic as he describes how
mourners present at the funeral of a wealthy elderly relative are able to prevail

poor family to a loved one of a wealthy family. Charles uses this to give members of
a richer family a better understanding of the fast growing gap between the poor and
rich. When Twist departs from the undertaker s place heading towards London, he
goes up to the workhouse,to meet his friend Dick, even though he was unwell. This
scene has great poignancy in it because Dick, who is himself dying, blesses

The Resurrection Of Jesus Is The Focal Point Of
Christianity
Introduction
There is far reaching agreement among researchers today, over a wide religious
spectrum, that the resurrection of Jesus is the focal point of Christianity, asserted by
conventional believers in light of New Testament passages like 1 Corinthians 15:12
20; However, it is also declared by higher analytical scholars, also. For instance, one
of the current problems which face Christian theology is that the resurrection of Jesus
plays a decisive part. If the confidence and trust which are firmly associated to the
resurrection is in doubt, there is a risk of jeopardizing everything to which a
Christian clings. The explanation and narrative of the chronological basis of the
Resurrection of Jesus has been the focus of historical investigation and debate, as
well as a theme of discussion among theologians. The description of the Gospels,
together with the empty tomb and the manifestation of the risen Christ to His
followers, have been observed as historic reports of a factual event, as exact versions
of prophetic encounters, as dishonest eschatological allegories, and as a lie invented
by early Christian authors, with numerous interpretations. It has been proposed, for
instance, that Jesus was never crucified, that there was an empty tomb because the
body of Christ was stolen, or that Jesus Christ was never in the grave.
In Christian apologetics, no historical argument surpasses the resurrection of Jesus
for its sheer evidential force.

Even though the settings were very similar, I still found the movie much more
entertaining to watch.
The film has a sense of humor that the book never even alluded to. Some scenes
are unchanged in the movie from the book. That s why I found that the plot in the
movie was exactly as it was in the book. There is a scene where Louis first feeds
off of Claudia and her transformation, and there is also a scene at the Theatre de
Vampires are practically word for word from the book. There is a scene where
Claudia sleeps in Louis coffin this also accurse in the movie. There is also a scene
where Lestat locks a whore in a coffin which also accurse in the movie but much
more entertaining to watch then read. Also, Lestat s two demises are the same,
though there is no vampire musician who accompanies Lestat at that point in the
book. Though the line about I know someone who would make a better vampire
than you is still there. There are also fore more scenes that are the same. I also
found that the plot in the movie and the plot in the book occur at the same time.
The plot occurs when, Louis and Claudia a 6 year old girl decide to kill their
creator, Leastat and move to Paris. Lestat loved the blood of man and women. He
would bite, and then kill. Louis hated that. He survived on rats and chickens. Louis
made one bite on a human that he regretted. It was a little girl, Claudia. He left her

Honor In The Odysseus
In the Disney movie Mulan, a young heroine, Mulan, disguises herself as a man to
fight for her country and restore honor to her family. She, similar to Odysseus, must
save her country from invaders, The Huns for Mulan and the suitors for Odysseus.
Both protagonists face many trials that test their loyalty and honor. And both prevail,
becoming great, respected leaders of their people. Honor as well as loyalty are
significant characteristics of a respected person. The Odyssey, written by Homer in
the eighth century BCE, is a common story with multiple retellings that focuses on
the journey of Odysseusand his son Telemachus. Odysseus is a war hero of the
Trojan War, and the tale focuses on the conflicts he faces while journeying home. In
this story, Odysseus shows how honor and loyalty play a pivotal role in defining the
success of a leader, and how the absence of these traits leads to anarchy and turmoil
within a ruler s domain.
The necessity of honor and loyalty in a ruler are seen during the Odysseus absence
in his kingdom of Ithaka. During the 16th year that Odysseus is missing, suitors
come from all over the land to win the hand of Odysseus wife, Penelope, presuming
Odysseus is dead. Because Odysseus is absent, the country is having a turn for the
worse with the arrival of the suitors. The suitors take over the royal residence, [the
suitors] use our house as if it were a house to plunder (Homer 9). Without a ruler
governing the people, there lies no punishment for

Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Summary
F.L. Morton examines the political impact of the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms by comparing pre Charter practices to post Charter developments in five
different areas: judicial behaviour, public policy, interest group behaviour, federalism,
and executive behaviour. Morton presents the Charter through its continuity and
change, beginning with the move away from Britain s unwritten constitution and
distinguishing the doctrine as constitutional supremacy that still depends on public
opinion. He argues that due to the Charter s constitutionality, Canadian courts are able
to have a more active and influential role in interpreting and enforcing the listed rights
which is a negative development in Canadian democracy. With regards to
Swot Analysis Of Pepsico

to try and increase consumer consumption. PepsiCo s created Brisk as its RTD. The
company s main customers for the Brisk (iced tea) bracket is male millennials (born

product. Although the company has strengths regarding excellent brand awareness
and loyalty, PepsiCo struggles to follow up with promotion after the SuperBowl and
find effective techniques to reach their target audience and increase the consumer
consumption in the RTD aspect. Currently, the company struggles with brand image ,
brand awareness, and raising consumer consumption for its product, Brisk. Although
the company had success in the 90s, sales had been dropping because part of their
new target market (male millennials born between 1980sВ1990s) were too young to
remember the ads. The goal is to reintroduce the product to the consumers by utilizing
the different mediums which are regularly used in today s society. Using these
mediums and marketingtechniques will help promote a positive brand image. Over
the years the company had troubles using social media to promote their products, and
spent much time on other alternatives to aid in the advertisement process. In the past

Argumentative Essay On Education Reform
Over the years education reform has taken various forms due to the differing motives
of reformers themselves. In the past, education reform desired to revolutionize the
existing system (seen in Plessy v. Ferguson, the School Act passed in 1647, etc...),
but as of late America, has desired to reform (change) our existing system. IN doing
this, America acknowledges public education(as well as supports) being the primary
source of education for America s youth. Today s reformers aspire to make public
education in America more effective, with higher standards (thus resulting a higher
achievement scores), and a higher focus on students needs. Overall, the one similarity

Some may wonder why we even need to reform our education system and what the
overall goal of the reform is. The overall goal of the reform is to better prepare
America s youth to compete in a global economy and to help disadvantaged children
catch up educationally. Also trying to close the gap between economic and racial
divides.
In 1993, A Nation at Risk, is released by the Department of Education, and is a report
on the state of public education in the United states. The report warns that America
and its students will not be able to compete in a global economy unless changes are
made to our education system. A Nation at Risk, really sparks the desire in
Americans to reform their education system for the first real time, and even though
the report doesn t specifically show what changes need to be made, it serves as a
wake up call to America. In reaction to A Nation at Risk, President George Bush
signed into law the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act in 2002. This act focused
largely on closing the achievement gaps between students by providing all children
with a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education, (No

Essay On Assembly Line Medicine
The assembly line was introduced during the industrial revolution: transforming
manufacturing and allowing technology to flourish. Although this procedure is
useful when dealing with machines, it can be detrimental in more human centered
careers namingly medicine, in which the most effective treatments are those which
are tailored to the individual. However, assembly line medicine has been
increasingly implemented into the medical field today. Rather than tailored
treatments, a one size fits all approach is being forced on unwilling doctors. Now,
the practice of medicine is much like a broken machine. Assembly line medicine,
the idea that medicine is becoming more procedure based and requires less on the
part of doctors, corrupts medicine. In order to combat this, emphasis should be
placed on healing and there should be decreased bureaucracy. One symptom of
assembly line medicine is the increase of suicide rates among doctors. In today s age,

Omtting colour and using natural lighting helps not only this scene but the entire
story to develop as it provokes more concentration from the viewer into this raw
dialouge and acting. The classical style of cinematography is used by Levy in
shooting Frances Ha. The scene is shot with a steadycam evident through a smooth
pan following Dan from the couch to the kitchen. For the majority of the scene, the
camera is fixed in one position on Frances and Dan through a mid shot as they are
seated on the couch. This shot size is framed around the subjects for a measure of
distance (Bordwell and Thompson, 2008). The pair are sitting very close together
and the shot further outlines this by being close to the subjects without being
labelled as close up shot. It is a tight frame, with a tight fix on the subjects. This
communicates to the audience that these two are a couple and they are very
comfortable with eachother and have been for a long time. The depth of field and
focus range is very slim. This is a result of the distance between the closet and
farthest objects in the scene being very small. Baumbach wants to focus soley on
the characters in this scene as the position of the frame is extremely neutral. The
lens is level with the pair sitting down on the couch with no high or low angles used.
For Baumbach, it was not a case of symbolic cinematography, but instead to provide a

Essay on Happiness and Health in a Connecticut Nursing
Home
2.The question presented in this study is would increasing the power and control an
individual have over their life cause them to be more happy and healthy? This is an
important question because the results could help patients in nursing homes to be
both happier and healthier. Langer and Rodin s hypothesis was that if patients in a
nursing home were given more control over their lives and activities, they would
show improvements in mental alertness, activity level, satisfaction with life, and
other measures of behavior and attitude.

5.Langer and Rodin concluded that the findings from their study supported their
hypothesis, and that individuals are indeed happier and healthier when given some
degree of control over their lives. In fact 18 months after the study the participants
in the increased responsibility group were in a super condition than those who
were in the control group. They also found that while 30% of the participants in the
comparison group had since passed away, only 15% of the experimental group had

pointed out by Langer and Rodin, which is that it may have been unethical to present
the participants with a greater level of control over their lives just to have it taken

Why Are Movies Better Than Movies
When it comes to the entertainment boom millennials are facing, no other debate
is as fierce as the debate of whether movies or book are better. Novels, or books, are
perennial, having lasted throughout time as the premier way of sharing knowledge
and the presentation of entertainment. However, the invention of films in the late
1800 s disrupted the titan. Movies then became a significant way to present stories
and fears of books effacing from existence became mainstream. Although novels
are still present in modern times, the movie industry has only exploded, with the
uprise of Hollywood and billions of dollars of spending movies have become as
big as books. However, when it comes to the debate on whether which form of
information is better, novels have always been on the winning side with the most
people standing behind books. Movies are rapidly approaching the popularity of
books, but literature will still be better than films in ways such as prevailing in time
and story limitations, immersing the reader, and providing more space for thoughts
and imagination. Movies, although innovative, cannot stand to literature because of
their limitations, and lack of ability to allow viewers to think and be in harmony
with them. A book is edited and crafted, but the writer is still working within an

Linux Operating System on Business
Introduction about Linux
Linux is an operating system that was initially created as a hobby by a young
student, Linus Torvalds, at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Linus had an
interest in Minix, a small UNIX system, and decided to develop a system that
exceeded the Minix standards. He began his work in 1991 when he released version
0.02 and worked steadily until 1994 when version 1.0 of the Linux Kernel was
released. Linux is developed and released under the GNU General Public License
and its source code is freely available to everyone. There are now literally hundreds
of companies and organizations and an equal number of individuals that have
released their own versions of operating systems based on the Linux kernel.

How Absolute Power Corrupts In Animal Farm, By George
Orwell
In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, the author explains how absolute
power corrupts absolutely. Orwell uses the animals on the Manor Farm to
represent this. The animals are upset because they feel they aren t receiving good
treatment on the farm by Mr Jones. They decide one night to rebel against the
farmer and successfully overthrows him, which leads them to pick a new leader.
This starts the feud between the two prize pigs Napoleon and Snowball. After a
long debate the animals pick Napoleon to be the leader, and he proceeded to run
out Snowball. Napoleon became corrupt and continued to take away rations and
increased working hours. He started to make relations with humans and by the end
started to walk like a human. Orwell presents this idea of power makes people
corrupt, which would conclude that if given a chance Snowball would present the
same actions. In the beginning of the book, Snowball was shown as the main
leader. He was looked up to by the rest of the animals and was the ringleader of
most of the education. Although Snowball showed signs of corruption from the
beginning. For example after the pigs harvested the apples, the book states that all
the pigs agreed without further argument that the milk and the windfall apples...
should be reserved for the pigs. (pg53). Obviously Snowball was in agreement, for
the fact that he was a pig, that by stealing the milk and apples and giving them to
only the pigs would benefit everyone. In addition to the apples and milk, Snowball
created the commandments knowing they would be broken. Few minutes after the
rebellion the pigs wrote on the wall whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. (pg
43) Snowball knew this rule was going to be broken showing deception, just minutes
after the rebellion. He knew he would end up breaking the commandments because
Snowball s plan of building the windmill included the technology to harness and
create electricity, which is only sold by humans. By building the windmill he would
have to be in contact with the enemy. The winter after the rebellion Snowball stated
that they would need for dynamos and cables. Clearly Snowball did know that he had
to get the cables from the humans from the statement he made on that same
Canadian Culture
To understand if the U.S. Canadian magazine dispute was motivated by genuine
desire to protect Canadian culture, I feel like you have to understand the Canadian
people and their way of life. I do believe that his was more of a culture protection
move than an economical move. The Canadians in my opinion do not want a United
Statesof America state but they want to be country that has their own morals and
views. I feel that this move tried to protect the way of thinking and that those
magazines only opened the door for Canadians to becoming more Americanized.
However, that being said, some part of it was because of the financial structure, and
probably pressure placed by competitive Canadian magazines that had to deal with
profit loss due to the American magazines entering the country.... Show more content

Now how they tried to sell it to the public and the lawmakers was probably the
culture aspect on what the American magazines are doing to the Canadian culture.
And from what I see here in the United States and the grueling TV series such as
Cops or the misguiding reality TV shows such as the Kardashians, is a prefect tool to
use to argue on what Americanization is bringing to the table and why abiding
citizens of Canada shouldn t view it. Thinking about it more depth, just one show of
the Kardashians should be enough to stop any culture from banning reality TV shows
from the United

  • 3. Theoretical Burnout In The Nursing Profession Burnout is a vocational syndrome that can manifest in any field; those that work in the helping and healthcare professions have added considerations that potentially place them at additional risk. Whereas occupational burnout typically is characterized by increasing work expectations and decreasing support and recognition, mental health clinicians are also vulnerable to compassion fatigue and vicarious traumatization. These can manifest beyond the usual burnoutsymptoms of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decreasing feelings of accomplishment (Kerr, 2016). Self care, self directed by the clinician, can act as a first line defense against these serious problems, and along with the buffer of organizational supports, can mitigate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is estimated that 24 million Americans (roughly 8%) will experience trauma at some point in their lives, for mental health workers it is almost six times higher (up to 50%) according to Sansbury, Graves, Scott (2014); they further report that trauma can have a profound and deep effect, citing recent studies that documented DNA level aging in children exposed to trauma. The practitioner that works in trauma adheres to trauma informed care core principles: safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, and choice. To be effectively vigilant of meeting these principles, the clinician needs to be cognizant of his or her own traumatic stress responses. An overidentification with the client, due to repeated exposure to the client s trauma through processing or story content can result in vicarious trauma. When a mental health professional is experiencing vicarious trauma, this can manifest as being overly cautious, outward or inward expressions of anger or sadness, changes in their own belief systems, suffering, feeling unsafe, a reduction in sense of self, being suspicious or paranoid, distancing from interpersonal relationships, and overall negative affect. The same authors suggest that countertransference and poor coping skills are the first red flags of traumatization susceptibility (Sansbury, Graves, Scott,

The Change In Style Of Jazz Bass Final Paper MUSI1024 Explore the change in style of jazz bass since the introduction of electric bass (bass guitar) Modern 4 string, fretted, horizontally played electric bass was first introduced by Paul Tutmarc in the 1930s. Later in 1950s Leo Fender developed this idea so it could be mass produced and finally introducing the Fender Precision bass in 1951. Electric bass then started to coexist with the double basses in jazz, since there were bassists starting to use electric bass as they are easier to be played, could be easily transported, and were able to be amplified to any volume without feeding back (Driscoll, 2002). пїј In jazz, electric bass became a viable option in adding modern timbres and textures to the developing ... Jacqueline, more commonly known as Jackie, affected the political world with her tasteful and intelligent approaches to her duties as First Lady. Not only did she affect politics, Jacqueline impacted American society with her iconic personality traits and multiple accomplishments. The lack of history inside upset her, since there was not much for a child like her to take away from the experience. Mrs. Eisenhower was the first to give Jacqueline an official tour of the White House. Then again, Jackie was shocked and offended by the dreary appearance of interior (Flaherty 86). Jacqueline described certain rooms to be tattered, worn, and seemed to have no rhyme or reason. I [Jackie] felt sad for the neglected rooms...it disturbed me to know that these badly designed, poorly maintained rooms belonged to the United States (Spoto 41). At the time, the White House had nothing with history attached for tourists to view, and nothing elegant. As a woman with a passion for art, beauty, history, and design, Jackie immediately knew what needed to be

  • 7. The Impact Of Mobile Telephone Technology On Human Social... As afore discussed, telephone technology has overwhelming positive impacts (e.g. space adjusting; intimacy at a distance ) on human lives, yet recent scholars (e.g. Ling, 1997; Caporael and Xie, 2003; Campbell and Park, 2008) illustrate some negative impacts of telephone uses, especially mobile telephony, on human social lives. The first negative impact brought by mobile telephoneis the use of public space privately. According to research findings of Campbell and Park (2008), the negative social impacts of mobile telephone technology firstly lied on using mobile telephone in public space (e.g. park; restaurant; shop; school) as one s personalised public space , that is, public space is appositely designated for personal objectives. In a public setting, for instance, mobile telephony always offers its users unsolicited melodies and the copresent bystander way to interact socially; consequently, the bystanders unconsciously become audience of the telephone conversation (Campbell and Park, 2008: 377). Moreover, the study of Ling (1997) noted that there are some settings (e.g. theaters; meetings; restaurants; trains; churches) in which bystander basically found mobile phones irritated, offended or embarrassed when someone uses mobile telephony. She also claimed that chatting on the mobile telephone in a public space often compel copresent others towards an awkward situation of unwillingly eavesdropping (Ling, 1997). Arguably, uses of telephone technology,

This technique is used in forensics, or the scientific investigation of crime. Things as small as Fingerprints and strands of hair can solve entire crimes and determine the culprits involved. Without these techniques, many crimes may remain unsolved forever. The concept of genetic profiling through fingerprints was first introduced in the 1980 s (Paul Johnson, Robin Williams, 2006). While at first it was primarily carried out on high profile cases, most modern crime investigations use some form of genetic identification technique. The technology behind DNA identification has been rapidly growing. Instead of

In this instance, the assessment explores the role of a paramedic and when their duty of care would come into play. The term duty of care can be defined as a legal obligation that the safety and wellbeing of a person is a priority (Eburn, 2010). The paramedic has a duty of care as soon as they arrive at the scene where the patient is located. As a paramedic, the duty of care is to provide the correct care for different medical situations and ensuring that the care is in the best interest of the patient (The Council of Ambulance Authorities, 2010). The patient has a legal right to accept or decline the medical help from a paramedic. In the instance of a patient declining medical help the paramedic must accept the patient s decision and must conduct an assessment for the validity of the patients decision (Clinical Quality Patient Safety Unit, QAS, 2015). The assessment that is performed is known as VIRCA; Voluntary, Informed, Relevant, Capacity, Advice (Clinical Quality Patient Safety Unit, QAS, 2015). This assessment will inform the patient that the decision made is voluntarily and was not influenced by anything or anyone. The patient is then informed of all possible risks and consequences that may occur since medical treatment or transport was declined (Clinical Quality Patient Safety Unit, QAS, 2015). The refusal has to be valid and the patient should not be specifically refusing treatment for an unjustifiable reason e.g. the patient does not like a particular hospital; the patient has the capacity to refuse treatment and/or transport and understands the risks, and finally the paramedic will give advice and recommendations about safety so that the patient s decision not to be treated or transported can be complied with by the paramedic (Clinical Quality Patient Safety Unit, QAS,

Essay Mang Minno Allusions to Vampires in Mang Minno In Mang Minno , a short story within Where The Elephants Dance by Tess U Holthe , a young boy named Roman encounters a man named Mang Minno, who is believed by the island people to be Jonah from the Bible. When Roman meets him, he wishes to learn how to catch fish, so that he can show them to his father. He thinks that all he is getting himself involved in is a method with which to gain large amounts of fish, very quickly. These clues are the most direct in the story, they take traits directly from vampire folk lore and superimpose them on Mang Minno. Mang Minno s attitude and aura are both also similar to that of a vampires; rather vile and dark. His aura is well illustrated with the following examples: His voice is described as having an unsettling effect on Roman: The bitterness of his voice touched me like fingers of the dead (81). This simile, referring to the dead, shows that Roman may subconsciously be aware of what Mang Minno is. After all, vampires are regarded as not being truly alive, but being life forces of the deceased. Mang Minno s eyes are described as glowing (90), when Roman sees him from the boat he is riding with Aurora (Mang Minno s daughter). Mang Minno s attitude is also illustrated by way of the disdainful comments he makes about church: In church, does it ever seem to you a kind of game? Hypocritical. Be humble, they say, yet people come in their best clothes. Give penance, yet as they close their eyes and kneel, they compare who is better dressed, the beauty of someone else s wife, the sway of her hips, they think of anything but prayers. (96) This attitude is vile and dark, which Roman sees. It also fits in with the accounts of Mang Minno being a devil worshiper, he would obviously be against God and churches. All of the above demonstrates Mang Minno s
  • 11. Analysis Of The Movie Tombstone Tombstone Tombstone the movie was based on the historical events that actually took place in Tombstone, Arizona. A ex sheriff, Wyatt Earp came into town to reunite with his two brothers and a old friend, Doc Holliday. They planned on getting rich and settling down in Tombstone, Arizona to retire. Their plans however were interfered with by a group of outlaws called the cowboys, who were causing problems for the people in Tombstone. The 3 brothers ended up becoming sheriffs and planned to deal with the cowboys once and for all, the cowboys having mutual feelings which lead to the battle at the O.K. corral. The scene where the Cowboys shot the people at the church right after a couple had gotten married stood out to me. It showed how much they take their gang seriously since the groom had killed a cowboy. They had shot and killed multiple people, including a priest and the groom, leaving the wife crying over her husbands body. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wyatt was caught cheating on Mattie with a woman, doesn t say whether or not it was Mattie or not, and they broke up. Wyatt and Josie ended up together in the end, just like in the movie. Another Inaccurate thing that happened in the movie was the scene where Wyatt, Doc Holliday, and two ex cowboys went after all the cowboys, killing them off. They did this, but it said they killed about 27 cowboys in the movie when only four cowboys deaths were actually recorded. I think the movie showed factors of being political. The cowboys were basically a group of guys that refused to listen to the law, and the lawman tried their best to enforce the laws in the town. That makes it seem political in my point of view because politics have to do with government and law. The sheriffs had to take the law in their own hands, and bring peace and justice back to the town. This is just like how things are done with our own police forces and government

Amman is the capital and heart of Jordan, the modern city is less than 100 years old, however, archaeological discoveries proved that it was inhabited as early as 10000 BC! Persians, Macedonians and Romans are only but few of the nations that ruled they city. Amman is often dubbed The City of 7 Hills because it was originally built on 7 hills, but now it spans over an area of 19 hills. Best time to visit is definitely between March and May, which is the brief Spring season when it s warm but not scorching! Must See A few nations left their mark on Amman, so there a few sites that are worth seeing. But since your stay is somewhat brief, let s limit it to two historical landmarks. Start off by going to the Roman theater in downtown, a spacious, majestic structure reminiscent of the times when gladiators battled in the arena, if you listen intently, you might still hear the cheers of spectators and the sound of swords clashing in a fierce duel. Roman theater also houses the Jordanian Museum of Popular Traditions on the one side, and the Amman Folklore Museum on the other. If you walk uphill for a little while, on one of the 7 hills the city originally was built on, you ll find the Citadel. A national historical site that endured the test of time, and evidence that Amman knew civilization centuries and centuries ago, making it one of the
  • 13. Feminine Absorption In Tom Brown s Schooldays Feminine Absorption As the quintessential English public school identity formation experience novel, Thomas Hughes s Tom Brown s Schooldays highlights the masculine identity with the Rugby School experiences of bullying, sport, and compassion. As the roadmap for the English adolescent s journey toward manhood, Hughes creates the formula to transcend from the adolescence into the true manliness form. Hughes s character, Tom Brown, can only complete this ideal masculine model by absorbing the compassionate, motherly female qualities instead of rejecting them. Tom s journey toward his manhood starts by his departure from not only his home to private boarding school, but also from the matriarch. Hughes describes their mother son relationship saying, Their love was as fair and whole as human love can be, perfect self sacrifice on the side meeting a young and true heart on the other (57). His connection to his mother did not sever when he does go away to school. Even though it may seem that the relationship must sever, it truly cannot. It must however transfer from the mother to her son. Tom manages to fill two sides of a sheet of letter paper with assurances of his love for dear momma (58). Tom s motherly love must continue for this feminine quality of love to transfer. When his letter is duly delayed due to a letter sealing technicality, two boys tease him by calling him Young mammy sick! (58). It is here that Tom experiences his first bout of bullying and the loss of

However, its utilization is limited to mine mouth power generation using conventional pulverized coal fired combustion units at relatively low efficiencies [1]. Therefore, it is necessary to assess and develop alternative utilization techniques for this vast resource, such as gasification. Among different gasifiers, the entrained flow gasifier is attractive for commercial plants because of its feedstock flexibility and clean gas product. However, the technological information on brown coal gasification is limited. There has been one study reporting on pressurized fluidized bed gasification of Victorian brown coals at a pilot scale, but the carbon conversion of Victorian brown coals is quite low[12]. In this study, information on the gasification behaviour of two Victorian brown coals, Yallourn (YL) and Morwell (MW) coal, is reported, including the release of alkali, sulphur, and chlorine spieces, carbon conversion, and gas quality during CO2 gasification. The relation between 100% carbon conversion and residence time was investigated by regasifying the chars after every run of 5 6s residence time. This study generates fundamental information that will be useful for the design of commercial entrained flow gasifiers using Victorian brown coals. Experimental The coal samples used in this study are Yallourn (YL) and Morwell (MW) coal, two

In Historical Differences: Misogyny and Othello Valerie Wayne exposes Iago s inability to praise women when Desdemona asks him how he would do it: Iago s worry that he cannot do what Desdemona asks implies that his dispraise of women was candid and easily produced, while the praise requires labour and inspiration from a source beyond himself. He manipulates the wealthy Roderigo into awakening the senator Brabantio ( Rouse him: make after him, poison his delight ); and then he utters very offensive smutty lines about a black ram and white ewe, which indicate the way his sick mind operates. Iago s very language reveals the level at which his evil mind works. Francis Ferguson in Two Worldviews Echo Each Other describes the types of base, loathsome imagery used by the antagonist Iago when he slips his mask aside while awakening Brabantio: Iago is letting loose the wicked passion inside him, as he does from time to time throughout the play, when he slips his mask aside. All those who journeyed on the midnight ride were equally important because its story lives in infamy. Charles J. Caes also argues that Prescott should receive more credit than the others who joined him on the ride. In actuality, Prescott is not as brave and heroic as Caes makes him out to be. The things that Samuel Prescott had accomplished before the midnight ride are not as impressive as Caes makes them out to be. Also, The fact that Samuel was the one to complete the mission is not as important as the bravery it takes to even go on the mission. Those that choose their fate are more heroic than those who stumble upon it. Samuel C. Prescott possesses the same amount of courage as any ordinary man can. Caes chose to describe Samuel Prescott s retreat from the British as heroic. He used words to create a valiant image, such as, swashbuckling and daredevil like, in order to pursue his audience (Caes 42). When Charles J. The Resurrection Of Jesus Is The Focal Point Of Christianity Introduction There is far reaching agreement among researchers today, over a wide religious spectrum, that the resurrection of Jesus is the focal point of Christianity, asserted by conventional believers in light of New Testament passages like 1 Corinthians 15:12 20; However, it is also declared by higher analytical scholars, also. For instance, one of the current problems which face Christian theology is that the resurrection of Jesus plays a decisive part. If the confidence and trust which are firmly associated to the resurrection is in doubt, there is a risk of jeopardizing everything to which a Christian clings. The explanation and narrative of the chronological basis of the Resurrection of Jesus has been the focus of historical investigation and debate, as well as a theme of discussion among theologians. The description of the Gospels, together with the empty tomb and the manifestation of the risen Christ to His followers, have been observed as historic reports of a factual event, as exact versions of prophetic encounters, as dishonest eschatological allegories, and as a lie invented by early Christian authors, with numerous interpretations. It has been proposed, for instance, that Jesus was never crucified, that there was an empty tomb because the body of Christ was stolen, or that Jesus Christ was never in the grave. In Christian apologetics, no historical argument surpasses the resurrection of Jesus for its sheer evidential force. Despite the powerful robust

For the majority of the scene, the camera is fixed in one position on Frances and Dan through a mid shot as they are seated on the couch. This shot size is framed around the subjects for a measure of distance (Bordwell and Thompson, 2008). The pair are sitting very close together and the shot further outlines this by being close to the subjects without being labelled as close up shot. It is a tight frame, with a tight fix on the subjects. This communicates to the audience that these two are a couple and they are very comfortable with eachother and have been for a long time. The depth of field and focus range is very slim. This is a result of the distance between the closet and farthest objects in the scene being very small. Baumbach wants to focus soley on the characters in this scene as the position of the frame is extremely neutral. Langer and Rodin s hypothesis was that if patients in a nursing home were given more control over their lives and activities, they would show improvements in mental alertness, activity level, satisfaction with life, and other measures of behavior and attitude. 3.The participants of this study was 91 individuals who were living at Arden House, a Connecticut nursing home. these individuals were separated into two groups, the first group ( containing 8 men and ... The nurses also reported that the participants who were in the increased responsibility group showed improvement in activity, health, and behavior well the comparison group was shown to either decline or basically stay the same. More participants from the responsibility group attended the movie, and 10 of them participated in the jelly bean game as compared to the 1 participant from the comparison group. 5.Langer and Rodin concluded that the findings from their study supported their hypothesis, and that individuals are indeed happier and healthier when given some degree of control over their lives. In fact 18 months after the study the participants in the increased responsibility group were in a super condition than those who were in the control group. They also found that while 30% of the participants in the comparison group had since passed away, only 15% of the experimental group had died. 6.Probably the biggest concern there is in regards to this study is the one pointed out by Langer and Rodin, which is that it may have been unethical to present the participants with a greater level of control over their lives just to have it taken away. This study impacted the history of psychologyby proving that a sense of control is important for peoples physical and mental health. 7.This study changed psychology because it changed how psychologists viewed the importance of control in regards to a person s mental health. This study has also lead to
  • 42. Why Are Movies Better Than Movies When it comes to the entertainment boom millennials are facing, no other debate is as fierce as the debate of whether movies or book are better. Novels, or books, are perennial, having lasted throughout time as the premier way of sharing knowledge and the presentation of entertainment. However, the invention of films in the late 1800 s disrupted the titan. Movies then became a significant way to present stories and fears of books effacing from existence became mainstream. Although novels are still present in modern times, the movie industry has only exploded, with the uprise of Hollywood and billions of dollars of spending movies have become as big as books. However, when it comes to the debate on whether which form of information is better, novels have always been on the winning side with the most people standing behind books. Movies are rapidly approaching the popularity of books, but literature will still be better than films in ways such as prevailing in time and story limitations, immersing the reader, and providing more space for thoughts and imagination. Movies, although innovative, cannot stand to literature because of their limitations, and lack of ability to allow viewers to think and be in harmony with them. A book is edited and crafted, but the writer is still working within an unlimited time canvas. This condensing of books into movies leads to deleted parts from the book or abbreviation of developments within the book. (6 Reasons The Book Is (Almost

  • 46. How Absolute Power Corrupts In Animal Farm, By George Orwell In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, the author explains how absolute power corrupts absolutely. Orwell uses the animals on the Manor Farm to represent this. The animals are upset because they feel they aren t receiving good treatment on the farm by Mr Jones. They decide one night to rebel against the farmer and successfully overthrows him, which leads them to pick a new leader. This starts the feud between the two prize pigs Napoleon and Snowball. After a long debate the animals pick Napoleon to be the leader, and he proceeded to run out Snowball. Napoleon became corrupt and continued to take away rations and increased working hours. He started to make relations with humans and by the end started to walk like a human. Orwell presents this idea of power makes people corrupt, which would conclude that if given a chance Snowball would present the same actions. In the beginning of the book, Snowball was shown as the main leader. He was looked up to by the rest of the animals and was the ringleader of most of the education. Although Snowball showed signs of corruption from the beginning. For example after the pigs harvested the apples, the book states that all the pigs agreed without further argument that the milk and the windfall apples... should be reserved for the pigs. (pg53). Obviously Snowball was in agreement, for the fact that he was a pig, that by stealing the milk and apples and giving them to only the pigs would benefit everyone. In addition to the apples and milk, Snowball created the commandments knowing they would be broken. Few minutes after the rebellion the pigs wrote on the wall whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. (pg 43) Snowball knew this rule was going to be broken showing deception, just minutes after the rebellion. He knew he would end up breaking the commandments because Snowball s plan of building the windmill included the technology to harness and create electricity, which is only sold by humans. By building the windmill he would have to be in contact with the enemy. The winter after the rebellion Snowball stated that they would need for dynamos and cables. Clearly Snowball did know that he had to get the cables from the humans from the statement he made on that same
  • 47. Canadian Culture To understand if the U.S. Canadian magazine dispute was motivated by genuine desire to protect Canadian culture, I feel like you have to understand the Canadian people and their way of life. I do believe that his was more of a culture protection move than an economical move. The Canadians in my opinion do not want a United Statesof America state but they want to be country that has their own morals and views. I feel that this move tried to protect the way of thinking and that those magazines only opened the door for Canadians to becoming more Americanized. However, that being said, some part of it was because of the financial structure, and probably pressure placed by competitive Canadian magazines that had to deal with profit loss due to the American magazines entering the country.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now how they tried to sell it to the public and the lawmakers was probably the culture aspect on what the American magazines are doing to the Canadian culture. And from what I see here in the United States and the grueling TV series such as Cops or the misguiding reality TV shows such as the Kardashians, is a prefect tool to use to argue on what Americanization is bringing to the table and why abiding citizens of Canada shouldn t view it. Thinking about it more depth, just one show of the Kardashians should be enough to stop any culture from banning reality TV shows from the United
