This document provides criteria for observational drawing:
- Pay close attention to details, angles, colors, textures, proportions and avoid outlining or simplifying objects. Use shading, measurements and realism.
- Create a wide range of values from very dark to very light without smudging. Consider composition and balance between positive and negative space.
- Develop both the foreground and background to create a sense of depth. Focus on mark-making rather than outlining. Select 3 to 6 interesting objects to draw fully.
