Abstract: In this paper a hybrid technique is used for determining the face from an image. Face
detection is one of the tedious job to achieve with very high accuracy. In this paper we proposed a
method that combines two techniques that is Orthogonal Laplacianface (OLPP) and Particle Swarm
Optimization (PSO). The formula for the OLPP relies on the Locality Preserving Projection (LPP)
formula, which aims at finding a linear approximation to the Eigen functions of the astronomer
Beltrami operator on the face manifold. However, LPP is non orthogonal and this makes it difficult to
reconstruct the information. When the set of features is found by the OLPP, with the help of the PSO,
the grouping of the image features is done and the one with the best match from the database is given
as the result. This hybrid technique gives a higher accuracy in less processing time.

INTRODUCTION:
Recently, appearance based face recognition has received tons of attention. In general, a face image of
size n1 × n2 is delineating as a vector within the image house Rn1 × n2. We have a tendency to denote

An Antisocial Behavior Disorder ( Aspd )
Psychopaths and sociopaths combined make up 5% of the general population. Chances are that
everyone will come into contact with either a psychopath or a sociopath at least once in their lifetime.
An antisocial behavior disorder, also known as ASPD is described as a mental disorder categorized by
disregard for other people. Psychopaths and sociopaths both fall into ASPD. Psychopaths and
sociopaths obtain key traits in common, but there are very strong differences as well. Psychopaths do
not have the ability to feel empathy for anyone besides themselves, whereas sociopaths can develop an
attachment to certain people. Sociopaths are impulsive and short tempered Psychopaths are more
controlled and calculated, they plan their crimes and take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An impulse is defined as a sudden and unreflective urge or desire to act also as a driving or motivating
force this combining with the inability to to think about being successful and putting a family or
anyones needs including their own above their own sociopathic needs and impulses. In the movie The
Silence of the Lambs there is a killer Jame Gumb named nicknamed buffalo bill , named that way for
his impulsive killing. He lures women off the streets and then skins different parts of them to make a
suit for himself. This character could have gotten away with his crimes but he was not meticulous
enough in how he disposed of his bodies and how he picked up his victim. He was sloppy and let his
impulses control him, when his lover left him to be with another man he killed his other lover, this
was one of the key clues as to how he was identified in the movie. Psychopaths have control over their
impulses with makes them that more dangerous, and also makes them harder to identify Sociopaths
make up 5% of the population they only make up 1%. They can plan out their crimes and can control
their emotions while they plot. This doesn t mean that they don t have impulses they just don t act on
them as frequently or as recklessly. Hannibal Lecter in the The Silence of the Lambs is portrayed a
Psychopath. Lector is in a prison and is giving hints to the police about how to help catch Buffalo Bill.

Summary Of The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
Bradbury s Words to You
Desmond Tutu, a South African leader once said, You do not choose your family. They are God s gift
to you, as you are to them. In the short story The Veldt , Ray Bradbury conveys the idea that no
material object that has ever been crafted, is more valuable than your family because your family
provides you with vital growth. He does this by telling the tragic tale of parents Lydia and George who
are killed by their spoiled and technology obsessed children, Wendy and Peter. Through foreshadow,
symbolism and imagery, Bradbury believes that kids need to respect their parents, otherwise there will
be grave consequences.
Bradbury uses the term The Happy House in an ironic manner to foreshadow the very unhappy demise
of the Hadley family. The Hadley s home consists of an abundance of high technological machines to
do all the work around the house for them, called the Happylife Home . The description of the house
provides the reader with an understanding that the family is very lazy for having machines doing all
the work for them as they are described as ... the house that bathed and fed them and was good to them
. However, despite the comforts this home brings, the Hadley parents become more and more worried
with the machines throughout the story. The beginning of the story foreshadows this: George, I wish
you d look at the nursery. What s wrong with it? I don t know. I just want you to look at it, is all, or
call a psychologist in to look at it.

Gene Expression in Eukaryotes
Gene expression in eukaryotes can be broken down into three stages. These stages include
Transcription, RNA processing, and Translation. These steps are similar to gene expression in
prokaryotes but RNA processing is specific to gene expression in eukaryotes.
Transcription
Transcription happens in the cell nucleus. This is where DNA can be found. For example you can use
DNA as instructions to make certain things such as proteins, but, these instructions are in a different
language and you do not understand them, so the workers that will eventually assemble them cannot
work with them. This is where mRNA will come into play. The mRNA will provide the workers or
cells with new instructions that will be used to build the protiens. In transcription DNA is unzipped
and the enzyme RNA polymerase RNA polymerase binds to the promoter region. This starts the
unwinding of the DNA strands, and the polymerase starts RNA synthesis which runs along the
template strand of the DNA. In eukaryotic cells proteins called transcription factors bind to promoters
that include a TATA box, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription. After, more
transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the
transcription initiation complex.
The second step of transcription is the process of elongation. This is where the polymerase moves
downstream while it unwinds the DNA and elongates the RNA from 5 to 3 . As the RNA synthesis
continues downstream the new

Settlement Houses In Texas Essay
Settlement houses in Texas
The movement can be traced back all the way to England in 1884, which is called the Progressive era
movement and then spreading to the United States in 1886. In the early 1900 s the settlement house
movement seemed to have its impact with the European immigrants living in slum dwellings. Having
a basic need to improve their daily quality of life through education and health services. They were the
first to benefit from the lack of welfare programs of the time. Initially the Kindergarten program was a
way to attract parents to the settlement houses, but eventually evolved to improve living conditions for
children. According to the Texas State Historical Association, children in the South suffered from a

Some Rusk workers viewed the Mexican children as culturally inferior, which is something that
occurs when people don t have an understanding or are indifferent to another culture. In the early 1900
s with the drive to try and Americanize local Mexicanos, only a low percentage actually applied for
citizenship. After World War I the country was overtaken with patriotism, which was a driving force in
trying to make them Americans or have them assimilate with the American culture. The local
government believed this step would help merge the communities between the Anglos and Mexicans.
They believed that if the Americanization program would work that they would need to target the
women in the families, since they were the principal transmitters of cultural values in the community
(Garcia, 2000, pg 132). While the local government was pushing for Americanization, it also became a
center for Mexicans to maintain their cultural ties and promote their culture. There were often plays,
concerts and lectures held in Spanish. The Mexican government also sponsored a local charitable

Analysis Of Gattaca, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Catch Me If...
My chosen particular aspect that I have analyzed to be found to have significant connections between
my four chosen texts is identity. I have perceived this theme of identity through four different films of
Gattaca, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Catch Me If You Can and V for Vendetta. Through these films I
have formed three questions off of my theme identity analyzed: What was the effect of identity on the
people around the protagonist what drove the protagonists to obtain a new identity? What was identity

Analysis Of The Oldest Kid On The Job
In Reader s Digest s feature The Oldest Kid on the Job by Bob Brody, the author comically reflects on
both the positive and negative effects of his age in his workplace. Meanwhile, in another amusing
feature, The Oprah Magazine s Attack of the Efficient Tomatoes by Molly Simms, the writer discloses
her unsuccessful experiences with multiple time saving methods. Although both of these articles
succeed in their humorous, friendly tones, they often differ in their rhetorical strategies. While Brody
utilizes formal sentence constructions and self deprecation to highlight the humor in his
circumstances, Simms applies conversational structures and unconventional word choice to imbue her
experiences with a breezy, sociable personality.
Both articles begin with a similarly playful tone but establish distinctive styles. In Brody s case, three
of the four sentences in his first paragraph follow a simple subject verb object structure with a
multitude of coordinating conjunctions throughout the rest of the piece, conveying a traditional
technique and a slower rhythm. On the other hand, Simms begins with an exclamation and switches
structures with every sentence, following a more conversational format with hypotheticals ( If ),
questions ( But how? ), and interjections ( Well ). Simms varying structures creates a more dynamic
rhythm, punchy and bright where Brody s is more mellow and meaty.
Although these techniques are disparate, one is not more successful than the other;

Successes Of Reconstruction
In 1865, the end of the Civil War led to the freeing of 4 million slaves and the start of an era known as
Reconstruction. Lasting until 1877, Reconstruction was revolutionary because it caused sudden,
radical, and sometimes violent change that pushed forward progress. These efforts included rebuilding
the South and repairing the Union, while helping African Americans assimilate into society. For these
goals to be accomplished, the South had to show loyalty to the Union. In addition, the freedmen
needed rights. However, it was nearly impossible to reconcile both aims due to fears in both the North
and the South. Despite successes such as the 14 and 15th amendments, Reconstruction failed to give
rights to women and Native Americans, while black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Franklin s Virtue Analysis
The art of virtue is a distinct method employed by Franklin. The method features thirteen different
aspects: Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation,
Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity, and Humility . Franklin believed that it was essential and
advantageous for one to follow this instruction of method, not only to be happy, but to attain clarity,
morality, and virtue. Franklin s first act of virtue, temperance, necessitated self control of eating and
drinking Eat not to Dulnesss / Drink not to Elevation (987). Franklin s second virtue, silence, dictated
not to involve yourself in useless discussion, as he illuminates Speak not but what may benefit others
or yourself (987). Franklin s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The art of virtue is not precisely religious, it has more to do with the personal self, most importantly
self reliance. Whereas, in Puritan values one must always rely first on God and his true and devout
ways. On the topic of religion, in the art of virtue, Franklin himself wrote that he purposely avoided
them for being fully persuaded of the Utility and Excellency of my Method, and that it might be
serviceable to People in all Religions (992). In the discernments of Puritan s, Franklin leaving out any
religion in his art of virtue would have been deeply looked down upon, since in their eyes there is only
one true religion and all must follow it. Franklin s art of virtue was meant for any and all ideals, as
long as one was looking for morality. Everything in a Puritan s life is done for God and the ideal that
by following his instructions they will wind up in that well deserved place called heaven. The art of
virtue focuses on the ideal of the moral self, and what that entails for one s personal virtue, how these
virtues will help them throughout the life they are living, and is not worried about Gods judgement or
where that might lead them in the

Fire Containment Is A Passive Protection Method
There are two main types of fire protection: active and passive. The differences between the two are
that active fire protection requires outside help in the form of mechanical or electrical power for the
device to work. A passive system works with no outside help at all. Fire containment is a passive
protection method. There are three types of passive devices: limiting the rate of fire growth, fire
containment and then emergency egress. Fire containment is accomplished by limiting a fully
involved fire to the room or area that it is located. This is done through continuous researching and
testing. Fire containment is most successful when complete testing has been done on the many
components of the building s construction and materials. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tests can be conducted under non load bearing, load bearing, unrestrained, and restrained conditions.
Non load bearing tests are conducted to determine when the fire will spread to the neighboring
compartment. This happens when the heat transfer is high enough to ignite items in the non fire room.
This test can also result in the wall becoming too hot and cracking, creating a path for the fire to
travel. The test is measured by the time it takes for cotton waste on the unexposed side to ignite.
Unlike the non load bearing test, the load bearing test is conducted to see how long the structure will
withstand before is collapses. A collapse not only creates a path for the fire to travel, but it also affects
the safety of anyone that would be inside. The test is conducted while the assembly being tested is
under a weighted load, and the test is concluded when the assembly begins to collapse. This test is
mainly used for wood. Steel and concrete are tested without weight because they will arch when they
near breaking point. When testing steel framed floors, ceilings, and roof assemblies, they are tested
under both restrained and unrestrained conditions. The steel frame is made to resist the forces of
thermal expansion on the industrial steel. It is important to test under restrained conditions, and this
test is required for building parts that make up a structure capable of resisting thermal expansion
through the wide range of

Is Data A Person
Is Data a Person? According to Daniel Dennett, there are six factors a being must meet to be
considered a person, regardless if they are human or not. The six factors are: rationality, conscious
mental state and intentionality, verbal communication, self consciousness, subject of a special stance
or attitude, and reciprocating this person regarding stance. Within the single episode, The Measure Of
A Man, Data proved to be able to meet all these requirements, thus making him a person. The first
factor, rationality, Data shows throughout the episode. He rationalizes during the poker game, he
rationalizes when he decides to resign, even when he agrees to the trial. During the poker game he
rationalizes what to do next, whether to fold or raise. Then later on in the episode, data was being
forcefully transferred, he was told he could avoid this situation by resigning. He made his own rational
choice to resign so that he wouldn t be experimented on. When he was told he was not a person, and

Karl Marx, Adam Smith, And Andrew Carnegie

20th Cent. World History
Fall 2015
Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and Andrew Carnegie The writings of Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and Andrew
Carnegie all made significant impacts in society not only in their time, but continuing to this day.
Marx shared is opinions on capitalism and his views of the progression of human society in his
writing, The Communist Manifesto which he wrote with Friedrich Engles and published in 1848.
Marx believed in the idea of a society with no capitalism and the abolition of the bourgeoisie. Adam
Smith wrote a book called The Wealth of Nations which was published in 1776. In his book he tells
the reader what helps to build the economy of a nation and essentially advocates for capitalism.
Andrew Carnegie was a self made multimillionaire who gained his wealth by investing in the
railroads. In 1889 he wrote an article titled The Gospel of Wealth in which he discusses the duty of the
upper class to distribute their surplus wealth to those in need. All three of these men were influential in
their works and ways of life, but all three had extremely different opinions on capitalism. Karl Marx s
viewed capitalism as something that was negative for our society, but that would eventually become a
positive. Because of capitalism, the bourgeoisie (upper and middle class) would often oppress the
proletarians (working class). In The Communist Manifesto he discusses how capitalism is part of the
transition to communism. Marx

The beans are collected, cleaned, milled, and turned in chocolate liquor. The four main ingredients in a
Hershey s bar are chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar and milk. The milk and sugar are combined and
dried until it has a thick taffy texture. Then chocolate liquor is mixed with the sugar milk, and this
mixture turns into a dark brown powder called chocolate crumb. Cocoa butter gets added to the
chocolate crumb, then the mixture is grinded through steel rollers making it a smooth chocolate paste.
The paste is poured into huge vats called conches, where large granite rollers smooth out any gritty
particles. Next the chocolate needs to be cooled so it reaches the proper texture. Next the chocolate
needs to be molded into the signature Hershey shape. The molds are put onto a vibrating conveyer belt
so the air bubbles are removed, and the chocolate can settle. The bars are then sent through a cooling
tunnel, where they are cooled until solid. Then the bars are ready to be sent to wrapping (McGarry,1).
Hershey produced many types of chocolate, and non chocolate candies for people all over the world to

the company is so popular today. Hershey has factories all over America and their diverse production

The Five Principles Of Civilization
The five principles of civilization allow you to get a better understanding of history. Not only does it
break down the material for you to learn easier, but it allows you to receive the information for where
you can remember the contents better. Principle one is Geography is Destiny, geography is what
allowed civilizations to settle down, which led to the creation of agriculture, trade, war, politics, new
inventions, etc., while it also helped them get to where we are today by striving to create a destiny for
ourselves. Principle two is Agriculture Creates Civilization, civilization would die off if they couldn t
produce food so agriculture allowed civilizations to grow into cities. Depending on the geography of
where the civilization was located, depended on what they could grow. So they had to adapt to their
surroundings to figure out what they could grow. Principle three, Clashes of Culture Drive Innovation,
shows how civilizations would fight each other for different resources (land, food, water) which led
civilians to new ideas being invented like new weapons and strategies so they could defeat their
enemy. War led to civilizations spreading and teaching their ways with other civilizations by them
seeing their ideas so they had to do better (encouraged new ideas). Principle four, Trade Is the
Lifeblood of Civilizations, trade made it possible for different cultures/civilizations to trade their
goods and ideas. This allowed them to see other religions, agriculture,

Real Estate Easement Essay
In previous articles, we ve discussed easements or right of ways and how they are used. Generally
speaking, an easement or right of way grants one person or entity the right to use another person or
entity s property. As is obvious, this can come with a number of complications; particularly if the
situation is approached without the necessary information and knowledge regarding how to handle the
situation. So previous articles about how to handle an easement already in place are important, but that
s not the only important discussion when it comes to easements in southern California real estate.
What do you do when you need to create an easement?
Top 5 Methods of Creating Real Estate Easements:
1. Written Agreement Between the Two Parties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Easement by Necessity Through Court Order In some instances, the court can designate an easement
out of necessity. For instance, if a piece of property exists that has no access to the public roadway
because it is surrounded by properties owned by others, they must be allowed to exit/enter their own
property.
3. A Deed Conveying Property Designating an Easement This often occurs when a landowner wants to
sell a portion of a larger piece of land. For instance, a land owner could sell the back 20 acres of their
50 acre piece of land. In order for the new owner to access public roadways from their land, an
easement would be created in the deed and a portion of the front acreage (still held by the original
owner) would be designated to be used for access.
4. Through Condemnation for the Public Good Local, state or federal government can condemn a
property or a portion of a property under eminent domain or order to utilize the land for a public
project as long as it is deemed as for the public good. In this instance, the current owner of the land
will often have dissenting views as to what is actually for the public good. In many cases, this type of
easement could occur in order for the completion of new highways,

Poetry And Science Poem Analysis
Forest Thomson advises this approach to a poem falsifies our experience of poems , we are seeing
only a singular layer in which the reader is coercing a specific meaning that is easily digestible and
relatable. Rather than engaging in such false readings, or bad naturalisation Forest Thomson demands
a closer inspection of the genetic structure of a poem. To give each base element, or section of the
sequence, the time and emphasis needed to understand and negotiate the importance these elements
have on the poem as a whole. In this manner, it can be seen that her theory of poetry borrows from a
biologist s mind set on the necessity to understand the smaller sub systems, so as to be able to view

He advocates that hoped to influence in some small measure a paradigm shift within the
methodologies of the sciences. This rather determined position is highlighted in his postmodernist
leanings, which are most poignantly shown in his belief that absolute truth is nothing but absolute
conformism. Whilst throughout Against Method he argues for an epistemological anarchism that
works contrary to the notion of co option, his demanding of a more expansive methodology that does
not self limit does align.
Feyerabend can be seen in some ways as the antithesis of Wilson s later Consilience. While Wilson
argues for a unification of the separate fields of knowledge under a monistic concept of truth and
knowledge, Feyerabend consistently demands the opposite. That knowledge is obtained from a
multiplicity of views rather than from the determined application [of] a preferred ideology the
prevailing western scientific method. It is this pluralism of theories that Feyeraband maintains is
essential to both scientific progress and epistemological questioning. He also through this
determination that multiplicative views and ideas are required leads to a requirement of interexchange
between other fields of understanding. Just as poet and critic Forest Thomson also consistently
expresses as necessary in her published works. As Feyeraband advises it is this need to step outside
the circle and either to invent a new conceptual system...or to import such

Extracurricular Experience In High School
Did you know that having an extracurricular hobby can help high school and college students in
academics? Things such as being engaged in an orchestra, or a club on campus are common; my
hobby has been athletics. I have excelled in athletics all my life and decided to take it to the college
level. I can t describe how much that experience has had an impact on my ability to manage time, my
health, and my success as a student.
If you had something that you loved, something that made you successful, would you want to share it?
I did. I know some awesome athletes in my high school that just needed a little push. They needed a
little more time with a coach, a little more encouragement. I knew I was someone that could do that.
Over the summer, I helped out three young women from my high school with javelin technique and
workout habits they should get into. I met with each of them once or twice a week for practice. Addie
was a very stubborn girl. She wanted to be the best (that includes by beating my high school records).

The Most Important Qualities of Content in Research
There are three important qualities of content that researchers use as an assumption for most every
research. The first is the kind of atoms that the content is created up of. You have your fairly neutral
components and your substance components. Atom comes from the Ancient term atoms significance
inseparable. (Trefil, 2010) Atoms create up everything we can see, therefore content, and atoms have
very different qualities within themselves, as well as having different methods of being organized or
of connection together, all of which impact the actual and substance qualities of whatever is created up
of those atoms. Most components either perform electric current or don t succeed to perform electric
current. However, there is a third kind of content that is not a really excellent electric conductor, and
simultaneously, is not really an excellent insulator either. These components are known as
semiconductors, such as rubber and germanium (Trefil, p. 243). The fairly neutral components have
the same quantity of protons and electrons, which generally terminate each other out making them
fairly neutral. The substance factor offers with mixing more than one factor. The second is the way
those atoms are organized. An excellent example of this is by evaluating atoms of fluid and atoms of
shades. For example the atoms of fluids shift around freer than atoms of shades which are loaded
together. The third is the way the atoms are insured together. There are for key qualities to

The Canada s Food Guide Essay
The Canada s Food Guide has been in place since 1942, and nearly a decade has passed since the
release of the current Eating Well with Canada s Food Guide (EWCFG) (Mortillaro, 2016). Critics
believe that the time has come for the revision of the second most downloaded document in Canada in
the interest of reflecting the changing lifestyles of Canadians (Mortillaro, 2016). At the time of its
launch during World War II, male female roles differed vastly, with stay at home moms preparing
home cooked meals. However, according to latest information provided by Statistics Canada, 69% of
households with families are dual earners today (Statistics Canada, 2015). The effect of dual earning
has taken its toll on Canadian food consumption patterns (Mortillaro, 2016). Consequently, the
existing food guide has received mixed reviews and immense criticism by several researchers, and has
even been declared obesogenic (Corby, 2007; Kondro, 2006; L Abbe Mahsa, 2015). This is
particularly disturbing because according to the 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey, 59% of
the adult population is overweight and 1 in 4 is obese; the numbers are even more alarming regarding
children and adolescents (Karmali et al., 2010). The cause of the obesity epidemic might be right at
our fingertips with the Unhealthy Food Guide that is imposed on Canadians. One strict change that
must occur to the food guide includes disassociating 100% fruit juices as vegetable and fruit sources,
and thereby removing

Lpn Role And Philosophy.Nurses Play Many Roles In The...
LPN Role and Philosophy Nurses play many roles in the healthcare field, can have many duties to

duties that can be performed under their scope of practice. Olin (2012) states, Scopes of practice are
the same for every nurse at a basic level and very different by specialty. Therefore, it is important to
understand the scope of practice, that the nurse is licensed for. A nurse has many roles under the scope

Personal nursing philosophy is important to individualized nurses because different nurses care for
different patients. Marchuk (2014) notes, The use of a nursing philosophy as the basis for nursing
practice promotes the proper application of nursing knowledge as well as the development of further
nursing theory and knowledge. Nursing philosophy is different for every kind of nurse and each
individual nurse, some seek compassion and knowledge, were as other seek professionalism and
dignity. All nurses are different, and this paper will be focusing on the Licensed Practical Nurse and
the roles and tasks of an LPN.
Background of the LPN
There are many roles and tasks that can be performed under the LPNs scope of practice. The LPN can
give medications prescribed by the doctor, give immunizations approved by the healthcare provider,
preform daily wound care and vital signs, take medical histories and enter provided information into
the computer documents, (Licensed Practical Nurse, 2017). The Licensed Practical Nurse can watch
over the UAP, monitor intake and output, and help with patient transferring as well. The LPN has a lot
responsibly and works as the eyes and ears of a doctor or a registered nurse.
Client Centered Care
The licensed practical nurse shows client centered care in many ways. Bell (2014) states, The goal of
patient centered care is to see the patient and family as a

Stylistic Features Of Ode On The Spring
The English Lyric has long been regarded as magnificent and glorious. It has been said that the lyric of
the post sixteenth century releases an intense overflow of feelings and emotions. Every poet must be
an artist and requires wit and imagination in order to bring out an excellent piece of art. In the lyric,
the poet uses a rhythmical and an elaborate mode of speech and he must always be in control while
writing. The poet must communicate his feeling and each lyric has its own predestined structure. One
cannot separate the form from the meaning of the lyric. This is because the rhythm, stylistic features,
and other concepts play a crucial role in the meaning.

However, there was still certain exceptional poets during this period who wrote lyrics such as Thomas
Gray and William Cowper. In the poem Ode On The Spring by Thomas Gray, the reader comes across
an elaborated view of spring and its beauties. It is shown that for Gray, spring brings fields imbued
with flowers and greenery: long expecting flowers . According to Gray, spring brings along
magnificent sunrises and also a beautiful and pleasing atmosphere. This can be seen through words
such as rosy bosomed hours and thro the clear blue sky . The words purple year are a reference to
Virgil s ver purpureum and Alexander Pope s lavish nature paints the purple year and through these
words, Thomas Gray wants to show the reader the power and brightness of spring through the poetic
conventions and style which are celebrating nature s beauty. The persona continues to emphasize the
shade and calmness that spring brings along with it: a broader browner shade . It seems that spring is
not appreciated by an excessive amount of people: how little are the Proud . Moreover, Gray expresses
that too few are able to understand the beauty of spring: How indigent the Great . The insects are
described as eager and also seem to be waiting to pollinate: taste the honied

Essay on Breakfast as a Scholastic Tool
Breakfast as a Scholastic Tool
We have often been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Growing up, however,
we have simply brushed that comment aside labeling it as yet another useless and false piece of
information we receive throughout the course of our lives. This particular piece, however, may bear
more significant than was ever thought before. Researchers now believe that breakfast indeed is the
most important meal of the day, resulting in academic and psychosocial improvements that last a
lifetime. While many may have trouble believing that a piece of toast in the morning can produce
increased academic performance as well as a healthy mind, the fact is it has been proven to be true. It

Goals 2000, for example, was a federal initiative to raise performance by increasing standards for the
school. However, as we are almost at the end of the year 2000, these goals that were set have yet to be
met. It is time to put our reliance in a program that has been proven to work; a universal free breakfast
program (Stedman, 2 12). Through many studies, breakfast has been proven to increase academic
performance. Breakfast consumption has been linked to improved preformance in mathematics,
continuous performance tasks and problem solving (Hyndman, 5). A study conducted in Canada also
reports over 78% of teachers indicated that the program had a positive impact on the academic ability
of their students (Hyndman, 10). With these reported facts, it is obvious to see that involvement in a
breakfast program would definitely yield results that could assist in solving the problem with
academic achievement in our nation. The Maryland State Department of Education has already
recognized this fact. Upon institution of a free pilot breakfast program, Maryland recognized that over
a two year period, schools that served breakfast in the classroom showed a twenty two percent
improvement in the Maryland School Performance Assessment Program, or MSPAP (Maryland, 1).
These results not only confirm the fact that

Plato And Plato s Republic
The ancient Greek Philosopher Plato had an interest in finding the ideal government. In Plato s
Republic, he discusses his ideas and views of how this ideal government would function. He believed
that people are born into 3 different classes, with different responsibilities (Plato 415a). Only people in
the golden class were fit to rule. The most effective of these rulers would be philosophers, as they
have knowledge of the good of the whole (Plato 473d). This system seems too perfect for me. I
believe that Plato s republic is unjust and would not work with our modern society, as it relies too
much on the golden class choosing what is right for everyone, and there is nothing to make them
accountable if they choose wrong.
Before arguing for my ideas on Plato s Republic, I will elaborate more on what the Republic entails.
Plato believed that the citizens of a state should be told you are brothers, yet God has framed you
differently (Plato 415a). Some people are born into the golden class fit for leadership, some are born
into the silver class meant to be auxiliaries to aid the golden class, and others are born into the brass or
iron class destined to be farmers and labourers. It was Plato s idea that the fostering of such a belief
will make them [citizens] care more for the city and for one another (Plato 415d). The most effective
rulers in the golden class would be philosophers (Plato 473d). According to Plato, they alone have the

Conduct literature establishes what female qualities are deemed socially acceptable, and, in the
process, reduces women to objects that passively conform to these dictates (39).
1.2. Patriarchy in Conduct Literature It is important here what the author means by the word
patriarchal , because this expression is widely used throughout her research as a key word comprising
men s attitude towards women in the eighteenth century. Dobosiewicz presents the evolution of the
very term, inclining mostly towards Sylvia Walby s understanding of it in Theorizing Patriarchy
(1990). Walby states there that patriarchy is a system of social structures and practices in which men
dominate, oppress and exploit women. (quoted from Dobosiewicz, p. 38 ). Furthermore, Dobosiewicz
claims that the power of patriarchy lies in the biological differences between sexes. The weaker sex,
that is women, has to care for different social tasks, primarily those of wife and mother (Dobosiewicz
38). Such view gave males a pretext for assigning women to the private sphere. In patriarchal
discourse the meaning and role of women are perceived in relation to a norm which is male
(Dobosiewicz 38). That is why social tasks of women are defined as different , different from that of
men. Another important aspect of patriarchy, which finds reflection in conduct literature is the view
that patriarchy

The first recommendation on how to provide communication options for the families is done by a
professional/family advocate who meets with the family and the child who is deaf or hard of hearing
to learn about their needs, but ultimately provide information on the advantages and disadvantages of
spoken and listening language, and sign language. Another recommendation on how to provide
communication options for the families is through Family to Family assistance. Family to Family
assistance is when a professional connects families who have newly identified infants with other
families who have different experiences and perspectives. These meetings can also provide families
with opportunities to hear from adults who are deaf and hard of hearing. These meetings can help the
families determine the best course of action for their child. 6. Another major factor that tends to
impact modality choices for a family is that they are not aware of all the options. It is important for
professionals to provide all the information possible and resources to talk to individuals who are deaf
and hard of hearing to understand what it is like to live with a hearing loss. Sadly, most parents do not
know the possibilities. 7. The Joint Commission recommends that they should counsel patients in an
unbiased manner that present all communication opportunities and available hearing technologies.
Professionals have a responsibility to help families learn, help them determine what is best for their
family, and help them understand what they can expect from the path they chose. Opinion

Reflection Paper On Cheers
It was March 2017, and the tryout cheers had just been put on Moodle. I had already been practicing
my tumbling skills at Corner House for about five months, but I still wasn t confident with my skills.
We had cheer camp for the next week to go over the cheers and how the tryout process was going to
go. During the week I had gotten pretty good at the cheers but I lost my running tumbling from being
so nervous. This made me so scared for tryouts and I thought for sure I wasn t going to make the team,
especially compared to other girls who had outstanding tumbling skills. I knew that now I couldn t
rely on my tumbling to get me on the team so I focused on my jumps and cheers. It was the night
before tryouts and I couldn t sleep because of my nerves. Later that night at around 3:00 AM, I threw
up from thinking about it so much. I stayed up the rest of the night practicing my cheers as quietly as I
could without waking my sister or my parents up.
When it was finally time to go to the tryouts I was getting ready and now I was worried I was going to
be late even though I had plenty of time. While I was putting my hair up in a ponytail, I wasn t able to
get it up without hair sticking out on the sides. Once I realized I was just going to have to deal with it,
I started putting my bow in. I was rushing because I lost a lot of time with all the times of trying to get
my ponytail perfect. I was twisting my bow around for the third time to get a tight fit and the rubber

Arguments Against Animal Testing
In this world today we don t think about much. There are multiple things going on behind the scenes,
and we re oblivious to it all. One of those things being animal testing, animal testing is a big problem
in today s society, not many people know what s going on in hiding. Animals can feel pain just like us,
and with some of these experiments, the pain an animal can experience is tremendous. Therefore,
animals should not have to suffer excruciating pain for our beauty products or medicine when there
will always be a first human tester, especially when there are multiple times the test could pass on
animals but not on humans.
Animals can feel pain just like us, no matter what some of us think any living, breathing or moving
thing can feel pain. With animal testing comes a lot of failures on animals which can turn out to be
horrendous. The pain levels animals can feel is beyond the scale of a human s pain tolerance. With that
animals are similar to humans yet very different, which make it harder to trust the drugs and or beauty
products that are being tested on these animals for us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Students with one or fewer characteristics are minimally traditional, two to three characteristics are
moderately traditional, and having four or more characteristics define highly Non Traditional students.
(Hoyt, Howell, Young Wygant 2010)
For highly Non Traditional learners there are several factors that can negatively impact their lives.
Lack of time, including child rearing and full time work that limits time and opportunity is often cited
as a major constraint. Additionally, highly Non Traditional learners are significantly less active in
campus activities and are less involved in the the general college experience. Hoyt, Howell, Young
Wygant s 2010 study found that Non Traditional students were Less likely than traditional students to
participate in other academically related activities such as organized off campus study opportunities
(10% versus 17% ) and forums, seminars, galleries, and recitals related to their major (49% versus
56%).
Student involvement on campus is viewed by higher education institutions as an important metric in
predicting academic achievement. While GPA does not assess specific learning outcomes, it can be
used as a factor to assess academic success. A study at Purdue University found that students who are
involved in student organizations having statistically higher GPAs than the general student body
(Hawkins 2010). However, this trend does not fit the findings for Non Traditional

The Role Of The Anti-Church In The Late 19th Century
The first session of Vatican I was on the 8th of December 1869, in Saint Peter s Basilica in Rome and

In the 1800s the world was changing. People wanted more control over their own lives. The French
Revolution saw the destruction of the monarchy and aristocracy. The people started to think for
themselves and wanted a say in who ruled them. They fought for Liberty, Equality and Brotherhood.
The industrial revolution in England brought great changes there as well, as people moved into the
cities and obtained jobs. People in America and a lot of European countries were gaining more rights

also wanted more freedom and independence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rationalism used reason and knowledge rather than religious belief or emotional response to form
opinions and actions. Liberalism recognised the rule of law, individual rights and legislative law over
executive power. Materialism was when physical comfort and lots of possessions were more important
than spiritual values.
In 1864, Pope Pius IX wrote the Syllabus of Errors for the laity. This condemned about 80 different
reforms which were occurring in Europe, including the three already mentioned. The church followed
this document until the second Vatican Council.
It took about four years of secret planning with Bishops and Cardinals before the Council assembled
in 1869. For the first time, Bishops from countries outside Europe joined European Bishops at Vatican
I. The main purpose of Vatican I was to define the Catholic doctrine, establish the Church beliefs and
Papal infallibility, and denounce new ideas of the time such as rationalism, liberalism and materialism.
Pope Pius IX called for an Ecumenical Council to implement papal authority and make clear Catholic
beliefs which had come under attack by Enlightenment thinkers, for example, the first Vatican Council
(Vatican I) began in 1869 at Saint Peter s Basilica and was attended by almost seven hundred bishops
and other church leaders. At Vatican I, the bishops officially proclaimed Papal infallibility, and raised
the question of the authority of the bishops. Interruption by Italian troops meant that the authority of
the bishops was not finalised until Vatican II in the

Within the Universities operating budget for the 2016 2017 school year a breakdown of the athletics
budget is available. The University provides 2.37% of its $1,695,827,240 budget ( Operating Budget ).
This is $40,140,918 for the entire USF system, which is then broken down into different aspects such
as athletics administration, event management, marketing, business offices, and the enrichment center
( Operating Budget ). The remainder is then distributed between athletic teams including coaching
salary, game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One member of the team, Michaels Jones, tells us this, and explains how difficult it is to fit these
fundraisers into her already busy schedule. Having the cheerleaders, and band at football games is an
important part of the atmosphere and is one aspects many students consider when choosing a school.
Scholarships are something that are often associated with the thought of college athletics, and are used
as a way to bring individuals to a particular university. These are an important part of building a team
of the best athletes possible. At the University of South Florida, scholarship opportunities for
cheerleaders are very minimal. With $24,000 yearly given to this team for this purpose, $500
maximum is available to each student ( Operating Budget ). Due to this lack of funding, many
members of the team must have outside jobs in order to make do throughout the school year. Having a
job, as well as participating in the 25+ hours of cheerleading related activities, and maintaining
eligibility GPA can put a large strain on the athlete ( USF Spirit Squads ).
Recruitment budget is also an important aspect of continual growth of a team and a way to bring new
students to the university. Third year veteran, Michaela Jones, provided insight into the recruitment
aspect of USF

Unit 3 Pow Answer
POW write up Problem Statement: 1 How many different squares of various sizes are on a standard
8x8 checkerboard. 2 How can you determine the total amount of squares altogether on any size of
checkerboard Process: It took many different methods and ways to find the method to actually get the
answer. The first method I tried was a bad method but helped to find out the right method. First I tried
to count them all up one by one then tally them on a piece of paper but this method didn t work
because I missed a lot of squares and it took way too long. The next method I tried had the exact same
problems as the first but gave me the method that worked. I tried to count how many were in each row

The Dramatization of Act 3 Scene 1 of William...
The Dramatization of Act 3 Scene 1 of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a
very famous play about two lovers in two different families who are rivals. Romeo and Juliet has love,
passion, fighting, sadness, madness, lust and jealousy packed into one. It was written by William
Shakespeare around 1595 over 400 years ago. Romeo and Juliet is a great play for all ages and
genders this is one of the things that makes it so special. This is why it is still performed around the
world today. Before Fight This is how William Shakespeare makes the story dramatic before the fight.
In the play Shakespeare uses dramatic and emotive language for example for now those hot days, ...

Either withdraw unto some private place, or reason coldly of your grievevances, or else depart, here
all eyes gaze on us. But Mercutio ignores him and carries on. The scene began in a light hearted tone
but soon turns serious During fight During the fight Shakespeare makes it dramatises by making
Romeo happy and joyful as he meets his best friend Mercutio but his joy soon turns to anger when
Tybalt appears and a fight is started. Romeo tries to interfere with the fight and stop it, as he must feel
guilty if anything should happen to Tybalt because he has just married Juliet. Romeo is at first placid
but as the scene goes on he becomes increasingly agitated and angry until finally he totally loses
control and stabs Tybalt to death. At this point Romeo rejects all logic and becomes a revenge hero
away to heaven respective lenity and fire eyed fury be my conduct now. This is dramatic language,
which contrasts with Romeo s earlier mild replies to Tybalt s taunting. When Mercutio is fatally
stabbed, he still manages to retain his sense of humour. His jokes in the face of death are dramatically
effective. no, tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church door. But tis enough. twill serve. Ask
me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man. This is a example of black humour and this

Alexander III Of Macedon
lexander III of Macedon, more commonly known as Alexander the Great, was the leader of the
Kingdom of Macedonia from when he was eighteen to the time of his death. He was known as a
military and political leader, and was so effective in these roles that after his death he acquired a
reputation as a legendary being. In this essay I will be briefly summarizing and discussing his early
years before taking the throne, his first military actions as king, some military exploits in Persia, and
his advances into India. Alexander was born in 356BCE to king Phillip II and Olympias, a princess
from Epirus, in Pella, the capitol of Macedonia. His earliest feat was the taming of the stallion
Bucephalus when he was twelve years old. He went on to study ... Show more content on

In spring of 326BCE, he crossed the Indus and entered the city of Taxila, whose ruler exchanged
military forces for help against his rival Porus (Walbank). In June of the same year Alexander fought
his last great battle, the Battle of the Hydaspes, which he won. After this victory he founded two cities,
Alexandria Nicaea and Bucephala, and made Porus his ally (Walbank). After this victory Alexander
wished to press on into India, but his army mutinied, and Alexander agreed to turn back (Walbank).
Alexander succumbed to illness on June thirteenth, 323BCE (Walbank). Alexander the great was born
to be a conqueror. Not only well educated, he was leading military forces successfully from as early as
sixteen. After his ascension to the throne, he continued on his fathers plans for invasions, and
conquered almost the whole known world. Alexander the Great surely deserves to be called such, as
his exploits will be remembered and his legend will continue to grow, for many more years to

  • 2. Face Recognition Using Orthogonal Locality Preserving... FACE RECOGNITION USING ORTHOGONAL LOCALITY PRESERVING PROJECTIONS. Dr. Ravish R Singh Ronak K Khandelwal Manoj Chavan Academic Advisor EXTC Engineering EXTC Engineering Thakur Educational Trust L.R.Tiwari COE Thakur COE Mumbai, India. Mumbai,India. Mumbai, India. ravishrsingh@yahoo.com ronakkhandelwal2804@gmail.com prof.manoj@gmail.com Abstract: In this paper a hybrid technique is used for determining the face from an image. Face detection is one of the tedious job to achieve with very high accuracy. In this paper we proposed a method that combines two techniques that is Orthogonal Laplacianface (OLPP) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The formula for the OLPP relies on the Locality Preserving Projection (LPP) formula, which aims at finding a linear approximation to the Eigen functions of the astronomer Beltrami operator on the face manifold. • 5. Summary Of The Veldt By Ray Bradbury Bradbury s Words to You Desmond Tutu, a South African leader once said, You do not choose your family. They are God s gift to you, as you are to them. In the short story The Veldt , Ray Bradbury conveys the idea that no material object that has ever been crafted, is more valuable than your family because your family provides you with vital growth. He does this by telling the tragic tale of parents Lydia and George who are killed by their spoiled and technology obsessed children, Wendy and Peter. Through foreshadow, symbolism and imagery, Bradbury believes that kids need to respect their parents, otherwise there will be grave consequences. Bradbury uses the term The Happy House in an ironic manner to foreshadow the very unhappy demise of the Hadley family. The Hadley s home consists of an abundance of high technological machines to do all the work around the house for them, called the Happylife Home . The description of the house provides the reader with an understanding that the family is very lazy for having machines doing all the work for them as they are described as ... the house that bathed and fed them and was good to them . However, despite the comforts this home brings, the Hadley parents become more and more worried with the machines throughout the story. The beginning of the story foreshadows this: George, I wish you d look at the nursery. What s wrong with it? I don t know. I just want you to look at it, is all, or call a psychologist in to look at it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gene Expression in Eukaryotes Gene expression in eukaryotes can be broken down into three stages. These stages include Transcription, RNA processing, and Translation. These steps are similar to gene expression in prokaryotes but RNA processing is specific to gene expression in eukaryotes. Transcription Transcription happens in the cell nucleus. This is where DNA can be found. For example you can use DNA as instructions to make certain things such as proteins, but, these instructions are in a different language and you do not understand them, so the workers that will eventually assemble them cannot work with them. This is where mRNA will come into play. The mRNA will provide the workers or cells with new instructions that will be used to build the protiens. In transcription DNA is unzipped and the enzyme RNA polymerase RNA polymerase binds to the promoter region. This starts the unwinding of the DNA strands, and the polymerase starts RNA synthesis which runs along the template strand of the DNA. In eukaryotic cells proteins called transcription factors bind to promoters that include a TATA box, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription. After, more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the transcription initiation complex. The second step of transcription is the process of elongation. This is where the polymerase moves downstream while it unwinds the DNA and elongates the RNA from 5 to 3 . As the RNA synthesis continues downstream the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Brody utilizes formal sentence constructions and self deprecation to highlight the humor in his circumstances, Simms applies conversational structures and unconventional word choice to imbue her experiences with a breezy, sociable personality. There are three types of passive devices: limiting the rate of fire growth, fire containment and then emergency egress. In 1889 he wrote an article titled The Gospel of Wealth in which he discusses the duty of the upper class to distribute their surplus wealth to those in need. All three of these men were influential in their works and ways of life, but all three had extremely different opinions on capitalism. Karl Marx s viewed capitalism as something that was negative for our society, but that would eventually become a positive. The first is the kind of atoms that the content is created up of. You have your fairly neutral components and your substance components. Atom comes from the Ancient term atoms significance inseparable. (Trefil, 2010) Atoms create up everything we can see, therefore content, and atoms have very different qualities within themselves, as well as having different methods of being organized or of connection together, all of which impact the actual and substance qualities of whatever is created up of those atoms. Most components either perform electric current or don t succeed to perform electric current. These components are known as semiconductors, such as rubber and germanium (Trefil, p. 243). The fairly neutral components have the same quantity of protons and electrons, which generally terminate each other out making them fairly neutral. The substance factor offers with mixing more than one factor. The second is the way those atoms are organized. An excellent example of this is by evaluating atoms of fluid and atoms of shades. The Canada s Food Guide Essay The Canada s Food Guide has been in place since 1942, and nearly a decade has passed since the release of the current Eating Well with Canada s Food Guide (EWCFG) (Mortillaro, 2016). Critics believe that the time has come for the revision of the second most downloaded document in Canada in the interest of reflecting the changing lifestyles of Canadians (Mortillaro, 2016). At the time of its launch during World War II, male female roles differed vastly, with stay at home moms preparing home cooked meals. However, according to latest information provided by Statistics Canada, 69% of households with families are dual earners today (Statistics Canada, 2015). The effect of dual earning has taken its toll on Canadian food consumption patterns (Mortillaro, 2016). Consequently, the existing food guide has received mixed reviews and immense criticism by several researchers, and has even been declared obesogenic (Corby, 2007; Kondro, 2006; L Abbe Mahsa, 2015). According to Gray, spring brings along magnificent sunrises and also a beautiful and pleasing atmosphere. This can be seen through words such as rosy bosomed hours and thro the clear blue sky . The words purple year are a reference to Virgil s ver purpureum and Alexander Pope s lavish nature paints the purple year and through these words, Thomas Gray wants to show the reader the power and brightness of spring through the poetic conventions and style which are celebrating nature s beauty. The persona continues to emphasize the shade and calmness that spring brings along with it: a broader browner shade . • 28. Plato And Plato s Republic The ancient Greek Philosopher Plato had an interest in finding the ideal government. In Plato s Republic, he discusses his ideas and views of how this ideal government would function. He believed that people are born into 3 different classes, with different responsibilities (Plato 415a). Only people in the golden class were fit to rule. The most effective of these rulers would be philosophers, as they have knowledge of the good of the whole (Plato 473d). This system seems too perfect for me. I believe that Plato s republic is unjust and would not work with our modern society, as it relies too much on the golden class choosing what is right for everyone, and there is nothing to make them accountable if they choose wrong. Before arguing for my ideas on Plato s Republic, I will elaborate more on what the Republic entails. Plato believed that the citizens of a state should be told you are brothers, yet God has framed you differently (Plato 415a). Some people are born into the golden class fit for leadership, some are born into the silver class meant to be auxiliaries to aid the golden class, and others are born into the brass or iron class destined to be farmers and labourers. It was Plato s idea that the fostering of such a belief will make them [citizens] care more for the city and for one another (Plato 415d). Patriarchy in Conduct Literature It is important here what the author means by the word patriarchal , because this expression is widely used throughout her research as a key word comprising men s attitude towards women in the eighteenth century. Dobosiewicz presents the evolution of the very term, inclining mostly towards Sylvia Walby s understanding of it in Theorizing Patriarchy (1990). Walby states there that patriarchy is a system of social structures and practices in which men dominate, oppress and exploit women. (quoted from Dobosiewicz, p. 38 ). Furthermore, Dobosiewicz claims that the power of patriarchy lies in the biological differences between sexes. The weaker sex, that is women, has to care for different social tasks, primarily those of wife and mother (Dobosiewicz 38). Such view gave males a pretext for assigning women to the private sphere. In patriarchal discourse the meaning and role of women are perceived in relation to a norm which is male (Dobosiewicz 38). That is why social tasks of women are defined as different , different from that of men.
