Essays On Childhood Obesity
Writing an essay on the topic of childhood obesity can be quite challenging for several reasons.
Firstly, the issue itself is complex and multifaceted, involving various factors such as genetics,
socioeconomic status, cultural influences, and lifestyle choices. This means that researching the
topic thoroughly and understanding its nuances is essential to present a comprehensive and well-
informed argument.
Additionally, childhood obesity is a sensitive subject that requires a delicate approach to avoid
stigmatization or oversimplification of the issue. Balancing statistical data with personal
narratives or case studies can be tricky, as it's crucial to maintain objectivity while also
highlighting the human impact of the problem.
Furthermore, crafting a coherent and persuasive thesis statement amidst the abundance of
information available on childhood obesity can be daunting. It requires critical thinking skills to
identify the most significant points to address and articulate a clear argument that contributes
meaningfully to the discourse on the subject.
Moreover, addressing potential counterarguments and incorporating relevant research findings to
support your claims adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. It requires careful
analysis and synthesis of diverse sources to present a well-rounded perspective on the topic.
In conclusion, writing an essay on childhood obesity demands extensive research, critical
thinking, sensitivity, and the ability to navigate complex issues effectively. It's a challenging task
that requires careful consideration and diligence to produce a compelling and insightful piece of
writing.

Vet Clinic Research Paper
Veterinarians and their support staff are a vital part of the family when your family
includes companion animals. This relationship flourishes with a mutual love for your
pets and devotion to their care. An urgent care vet clinic has a heavier set of tasks,
then a regular vet clinic. What makes UPC different from your normal vet? This is an
important question that is best answered before your petis in need of urgent care.
When your pet has an emergency need, our staff need to establish an instant and
loving relationship with your animal. In a life threatening emergency, this
relationship must happen within seconds of your arrival at the clinic. When you and
your pet enter the hospital in distress, you hand your beloved animal over to

Black Men In The Scottsboro Boys
The communist party was all for supporting black people having a self government
and self determination even though some weren t in favor of this cause. Also due
to the rise of the communist party there was an increase in political effort to
protect the lives of African Americans. The communist party was able to help save
the lives of nine young black men from execution. This case was known as the
Scottsboro Boys ; in Alabama there were nine African American teenagers that
were arrested in 1931 for supposably involved in raping two white women on a
train. The teenagers were accused, convicted and were soon to face the death
penalty. Luckily for them the many African Americans from the communist party
supported them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case
offered these young men an opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black
men and the struggle they face against class and racial oppression. This case was
also a very personal case to the boy s families because they understood what it felt
like for their own husbands and children getting accused of raping someone and
they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a thousand black
men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the
nine young men. In the end the case was successful and the boys were taken out of
custody. Because everyone came together for a good cause the boys escaped
execution, Janie Patterson made this plea to help
How Did Martin Luther King Jr Unjust
Dr.Martin Luther King jr vs Unjust laws Fellow Clergymen One has a moral
responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Dr. Martin Luther King jr believes that laws
are unjust if they only apply to certain groups and the way he personalized his
argument for the clergymen was very convincing. Laws in Birmingham were not fair
to every race and only targeted mostly minorities even if the minority made up the
majority of the population. He was non violently protesting to change these unjust
laws so that every man, woman and child could have the same opportunities and
rights. He also wanted to stop the flow of injustice into other states as it had infected
Alabama. As president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference he was
invited to attend a sit in in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While attending this sit in he was arrested and thrown in jail for breaking the law
for parading without a permit . This law inherently denies any protestor of their first
amendment rights and that was only one point that Dr.King was trying to make.
Birmingham s economic council convened with the Alabama Christian Movement
for Human Rights and they agreed to remove any inappropriate signs and let any
race enjoy their stores. But, the economic council broke their promise and kept the
signs and didn t allow any black people into their stores causing more unrest. This
irritated and incited more frustration among the already angry black population.
Dr.King knew that non violent protesting of these discriminations and unjust laws
was the only way to bring about change without causing a war between white and
black people. Dr.King provides the example that some laws were created without
any input from the race being discriminated upon because these races had not been
allowed to vote. The black people had to go through more rigorous screening to vote
than white people causing whole counties to not have any black registered voters.
Dr.King tried to make his argument more clear by drawing similarities
What Was The Golden Age Of The Victorian Era
Queen Victoria of England ruled from 1837 to 1901, making her the second longest
reigning monarch in England. During her reign, an entire era was coined in her name
by historians. To what is considered the golden age of England, the Victorian period
brought a time of improvements in society, great achievement, and revolutionary
ideas that paved the way for modern times.
Like today, the Victorian society functioned on three main classes: upper class,
middle class and working class. The upper class consisted of the wealthy, nobles,
and anyone with relations to the royal family. These people could afford the life of
luxury because depending on who you were, your family probably owned a major
mining or shipping business. People in this class saw many privileges like access to
phenomenal education and could import expensive goods from different countries.
One class that was growing each day was the middle class. These citizens lived in
suitable conditions and many owned smaller but vast businesses like tailor shops.
Multiple businesses led to the increase of job opportunities. These opportunities for
jobs is what helped the middle class grow during this period.
The final and bottom class is the working class. People in this class lived in poverty
and sometimes were even homeless. Categories to describe the working class were
skilled workers and unskilled workers. The skilled worker would be offered a job
specialized to his skill, but if
the person was unskilled, he could

The social, cultural, and entertainment news around the date of my birth included
many top and important releases, a few top hits are still in today. Top songs I got
to listen to as a newborn were I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly, Wannabe by Spice
Girls, and Candle in the Wind by Elton John. In 1973, Elton John wrote the first
Candle in the Wind as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. Then in 1997when Princess Diana
died in a car crash, he rewrote it and only performed it live at her funeral (Doyle).
Also, Elton John won Best Pop Male Vocal with Candle in the Wind in 1997 at the

What Is The Theme Of The Eve Of St Keats
In The Eve of St. Agnes, Keats finds out a happy alternative of Isabella, Lamia, and
the other darker odes linking with death or failure. The major theme of this poem is
the celebration of human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative
projection of young love (Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading
the poem than of an intense, happy, achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of
Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly experience and through Keats
magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. The poem tells the story of
Madeline and her lover Porphyro who are deeply in love but their families are against
of it. Madeline is practicing a St. Agnes Eve ritual to fulfill her dream... Show more

Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love.
Here Keats represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and
somewhere in the character of Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and
Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly escape from the decaying castle
are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the superstition
connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover
Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and
also his expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic
period seems to have been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his
love for Fanny Brawne that inspires him to write much of his poetry after December
of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same year, If the crude equation be
taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline is Fanny and
Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was
inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in
The Eve of St. Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia,
and Apollonius is Charles Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats
by insisting upon her as the female animal. The identification seems transparent

Keys to Win the Cola War with Innovative Marketing
Strategies
Product Mix: Key to Winning the Cola War Pepsi and Coca Cola have stood the
test of time through one of the strongest competition rivalries ever seen in the
business world. Each time that one of these beverage giants makes an innovative
move to conquer a new or existing beverage market, the other is quick to respond
with even better innovations or products. Through the years, each of these
companies have heralded fabulous discoveries and absolute flops as they continued
their endless search for the right mix of products that might someday give them the
largest market share in an ever growing and ever needed market. The results so far
have been increased competitiveness and long product lines for both companies. In

Pepsi and Coke have also been targeting this growing consumer market in their
soda lines with new innovations of low or no carb drinks such as Pepsi Edge3 and
Coke s C24, as well as reinvigorations of their already no carb diet drinks. So where
do the sports drinks fit into this low carb craze? The answer is they don t. Each of
these sports drinks is packed with enough carbohydrates to equal a liquid potato,
making them nothing but a memory for people whose daily carb intake is down to
20 60 grams.5 Thus, we have a void in the beverage market that is not being filled.
Further deepening this void is the fact that people losing weight tend to be more
active, craving something besides water or diet soda after their workouts. This is
a perfect example of how a shift in product mix for either company could give them
distinct competitive advantage. By simply creating a no carb line of Gatorade or
PowerAde sports drinks, the company will have altered its product mix and filled
the market void with brand loyal users, adding to the overall market resiliency and
strength of the parent company.6 Further analysis of this product line could also
reveal strong needs for having different strengths of sports drinks for different
levels of activity (i.e. zero carbs for slightly active, 15 grams of carbs for moderately
active, and up to 120 grams for marathon runners) enabling a kind of mass
customization to ensure that the product line can suit any and all

Personnel selection can be considered the responsibility of all those who manage
people as well as a description of persons who are employed as specialists.
Psychologists are hired by organizations to help with the personnel selection process
and to help select the best person for the job. While helping with the selection
process, the psychologist needs to follow the professional standards set by the APA.
PERSONNEL SELECTED
Psychologists offer a unique insight into the workings of selection process. Because
so many aspects of the selection process rely upon the observation, recording and
evaluation of data by humans the expertise of psychologists can often be critical. The

Classic Interactions Between Patients And Doctors
Classic interactions between patients and doctors rely heavily on medical
competence. The doctor, the supposed superior in the arrangement, acts as a symbol
for scientific proficiency while the patient exists as a sponge. While extensive
knowledge is nonnegotiable in the field, empathy is a key component in ensuring
proper diagnoses and sustaining healthy, impartial interactions. Margaret Edson s
play W;t employs dialogue and discontinuous juxtaposition in order to draw attention
to the inevitable disconnect between patients and providers, which endangers
successful medical engagement and outcomes. Proper communication is critical in
fostering interpersonal connections. This is particularly essential in medicine, as
patients and providers often communicate with strictly bureaucratic terms. Dr.
Kelekian and Vivian address each other with not only impersonal terms, but truly
contradictory titles: Doctor and Miss respectively (7). The professionalism in doctor
and the informality in Miss juxtaposes the two characters affluence, suggesting that
the patient is subservient to the dominant medical professional. This power dynamic
sets the stage for disproportionate, inequitable dialogue. Consequentially, this very
dynamic indicates a hierarchical structure that reduces Kelekian s empathy as he
does not address Vivian with her proper title, Professor . Rather, she is reduced to a
generalized Miss , clumping her and all other patients with that title into the same

Media Influences Children s Behavior
Media can be described as the social and mass media that children are exposed to in
their daily lives. Examples of the media platforms and materials include radios and
television broadcasts, movies and music, newspapers and magazines, social media
platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Talk, Skype, among others
(Samantha 2013). Media plays a critical role in the lives of the children. It provides a
socializing tool, educative and informative resources, entertainment, marketing and
advertising. Although the contents` and accessing of the media contents by children
are regulated, some of the contents of the media accessed by children indicate
violenceincidences (Samantha 2013, p. 6). Exposing children to Violence contained
in the contents of these platforms may or may not influence the behavior of the
children. The writer postulates that exposing children to media violence has a
negative influence to their behavior that develops a hostile and violent behavior in
the children.
Media violence Influences Children`s Behavior
According to the book published by Arnett, 2010, Adolescence and emerging
adulthood: A cultural approach, she explores the social cultural factors that
influenced the behavior of the children as the turned adolescents (Arnett, 2010). She
identified that the leading behavior influencers were community structure and
relations, family structure and functions, school life, and the religious beliefs and
practices. At the centre of these was

As the Chinese middle class began to emerge, Panasonic started to see the flaws in its

flat, while the home appliance market in
China grew at 20% to 30% annually.
Around 2000, Panasonic took another series of hits when its Chinese competitors

Its executives also realized that to gain an advantage quickly, the company s China

In response, Panasonic carried out a reorganization, streamlining its corporate

The Role Of Division In The Movie Freedom
There are several problems that seem universal and difficult to solve. One pressing
issue is that of keeping unity among a group of people and preventing division.
How can all members of the group receive some benefit with minimal efforts and
losses appears to be the question that groups must address to be successful. This
applies to groupings of all sorts of levels, such as, nations, sports teams, classrooms,
marriages, and businesses among others. Looking at issues currently facing our
nation, many examples of this can be seen. Recently our nation has seen riots,
divisions, and disagreements. Despite all the seemingly endless divisions, there are
practices that would greatly improve the condition and unity of the nation. In the
movie Freedom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the largest causes for division is people not understanding each other very
well. Ignorance of another person s or group of persons background, mindset, or
other characteristics often leads to fear or hesitancy to work together. Eliminating
misunderstandings helps alleviate divisions. It can be difficult to truly try to
understand someone though. As the late Stephen Covey said, a person should seek
first to understand, then to be understood. This means that the person must be willing
to be fully open to what the other person is portraying without trying to push their
own agenda. Ms. Gruwell demonstrated this well. She sought to understand her
students in order to gain their respect before trying to teach her material. She used
pop culture references that appealed to them, read personal journal entries, listened
to them without interjecting, and tried to help her students in any way she could.
She sacrificed much of her own time and value before she ever asked anything of
her students. In doing so, she unified her students and was able to get them to buy in
and do amazing things. If people are willing to delay their wants and try to
understand others first, many of the problems facing our society today would
Lowering The Legal Drinking Age
Lowering of the Legal Drinking Age Research Paper Adults under 21 are able to
vote, sign contracts, serve on juries, and enlist in the military, but are told that they
are not mature enough to have a beer?, said Ruth C. Engs, a professor of Applied
Health Sciences at Indiana University (Engs). No matter what is done, teenagers
and young adults all over America are going to drink if they want to. The question
is, why can t they start legally drinking when they enter adulthood? An alternative
to simply lowering the minimum legal drinking age could be thought of, such as,
having a learner s permit for responsible drinking for people between the ages of 18
21. In other cultures where the minimum legal drinking age is lower, there is not
as large of a problem with drinking. Lowering the minimum legal drinking age
would stop criminalizing a large amount of people for the minor crime of underage
drinking, which on your record makes it hard for young people to apply for jobs or
apply to colleges. Underage Drinking in America Realistically, teenagers are going to
drink no matter what. The minimum drinking age debate in America seems to
primarily revolve around one issue: drunk driving. The increased minimum drinking
age does not solve the problem of drunk driving in any real way, it just shifts drunk
driving deaths into a slightly older age group. Additionally, because teenagers are
afraid of getting caught drinking, many end up drinking large amounts of alcohol in

persuade American people to go to war, where as before the attack most Americans

Violence as a Theme in The Color Purple
Physical, emotional and verbal abuse were a common part of life in the deep south in
the early 1900 s especially if you were black, and even more so if you were a woman.
In The Color Purple by Alice Walker, Celie experienced violent abuse at the hands
of different people throughout their lives. They learned to be strong, even when
life was at its worst. Celie is purely a victim she s repeatedly raped by her father, her
children are taken away from her, and she s into marriage to a man.
Celie s narrative actually begins as a result of her victimization. Her father tells her
she d better keep it between herself and God and tell no one else ... Show more

When Mr. _____ came to ask if he could take Celie s sister, Nettie, to be his wife, her
father offered that Mr. _____ could take Celie instead.
Mr. _____ eventually decided to take Celie home to be his wife and raise his
children. When she first arrived, his oldest son threw a rock at her and split her
head open. She was still expected to cook, care for the children, and have sex with
Mr. ____ while her head was bandaged. Mr. _____ beat Celie throughout their
entire marriage. Harpo, his son, asked him why he beat her. Mr. _____ say, Cause
she my wife. Plus, she stubborn. All women good for he don t finish. (Walker 22).
The cycle of abuse continues with Mr. _____ s children, as Harpo starts beating
his wife, Sophia, following the advice of his father and Celie. When Harpo starts
beating her, Sophie confronts Celie about the sins she did to her. She said it s
tough to live in a man s world, but she will fight to the bitter death for her rights as
a person if she needs to. Sofia said that she had to fight her whole life growing up
in a family of men, and she fought right back when Harpo tried to beat her. Sofia

King David And Palm 23
Palm 23 is a poem that is rich in history but also carries timeless advice that can and
should be carried into eternity. The poem s narrator is King David who formally
served as a humble shepherd. He references sheeps relationships with their shepherd
in order to share wisdom about following the Lord. Sheep have one job (besides
unconsciously growing wool) and that is to follow their shepherd and this parallels to
man s relationship with Godfor he is commanded to follow God and will be rewarded
for his obedience in doing so.
Psalm 23 is a view of a raw talk between David and God. David is the clear narrator
and he was vulnerable with the Lord about his dire need for him in fact throughout
the book of Psalm readers are given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did not shy away from the hard fact that life is hard and can be brutal beyond
words can express. But he claimed truth and authority over evil by calling out to
his shepherd and stating that he would be alright even during the darkest of times
because he knew God would be with him. Humans today should heed his advice
for our world really is dealing with hard things such as cancer, shootings, accidents
etc. just to name a few. Without God s help and presence mankind does not stand a
chance. Also much like a good shepherd knows what his sheep gets anxious about
God knows that about his people today too. He knows what makes each individual
smile, laugh, cry, and shake with terror. But because of His almighty power and
love for the world he promises to restore souls and calm anxious hearts. Man can find
comfort knowing that if Jesus Christ is His Lord and Savior he will go to Heaven
and no pain in this word can compare to what there is to look forward to.
The wisdom that King David shares in Psalm 23 will always be applicable. The
world dealt with the same struggles in Biblical times as people do now just in
different forms. David s advice to follow the Lord as a sheep would follow its
shepherd should be taken seriously and intentionally followed through with. It is
impossible to go through life and live it well without following the one who leads
His people to the well spring of
The Vietnam War Of Vietnam
Blood, gore, intense combat, little sleep, death. These are some words that describe
the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War had 240 days of combat in one year. World War
II had forty days of combat in four years(Interesting Facts). That statistic shows how
rough the Vietnam War was. The fighting was constant between the two sides. This
war was fought over politics and had many gruesome battles.
Before the Vietnam war, Vietnam was in a revolution because they did not want to
be ruled by France. Vietnam wanted to be independent right after World War II ended
in 1945. Japan had control of them, when Japan surrendered to the Allies the French
never left Vietnam and claimed it as a territory(Mintz).
Vietnam got their independence in 1954. Vietnam divided the nation until they could
hold an election to have a united Vietnam. A problem then arose, the north wanted a
communist government and the south wanted a democratic government. China s
communist government influenced the north. South Vietnam was influenced by the
United States to the East. The elections were canceled and North Vietnam attacks the
south. The United States was funding and training south Vietnam until 1957. In 1957,
an American ship was attacked. That was the point when the United States sent in
soldiers and started bombing runs on the North(Cole).
The Vietnam War had many huge battles with very high body counts. Some battles
were very brutal. The first major battle of the war was the Battle of Ap Bac (January
2,1962).
Transactive Memory
1. Introduction: This proposed experiment seeks to determine what impact, if any,
the increased use of internet search engines has on our ability to recall information.
Specifically, the experiment is expected to provide data supporting the hypothesis
that the prevalence of internet connectivity and use of search engines is linked with
an increased reliance on transactive memory. In section 2, transactive memory will
be explained. Additionally, there will be a brief summary of a series of experiments
performed earlier in 2011 which aimed to answer a similar question regarding the
internets effect on memory and information recall. Section 3 will outline the proposed
experiment which will hopefully provide better evidence in support of this... Show

Other results may support the hypothesis, but the above results would support it
strongest. Additionally, this study does not seek to answer whether or not reliance
on transactive memory is a good or bad thing and the evidence should not be used to
try and answer such a question.

Importance Of Human Factors In Aviation
Introduction Human factors is the study of Human behaviour that has roughly
been around for 2000 years. The study is based on how Humans behave physically
and psychologically. In Aviation, human factors have been applied since the last
70 years. The definition of human factors from the point of aviation, means the
same but in respect to the ergonomics of technology and the flight crew, within the
aircraft. The information is then converted into training, procedures and
systemizing routines of the flight crew simply in order for the safety and for the
wellbeing of the crew and the society. Crew health and lifestyle is essential when it
comes to the wellbeing and the performance is vital to its limitations, throughout
the journey of the aircraft. When spoken about the word safety, it is often
associated about how boring or repetitive it is in the modern world yet the Aviation
industry. Safety is the freedom from any dangers. It is a word that people should
take seriously and should be a preaching word to change any ill practises. In the
world of Aviation where mishaps would occur at any given moment, the educated
personnel are taught not to ever rely on luck, when it comes to safety. It all comes
down to the welfare of the individual, the welfare of the company that associates
with the individual and the family of the individual. That is the reason why safety is
so critical and is one of the very first things that is taught in every class, job or even
at home. This
Summer Vacation Essay
When I was about ten years old my family started going on vacation over spring
break nearly every year. In the past we had been to Colorado multiple times,
Mexico, and Florida, which we loved enough that we decided to come visit again.
It was March 18, 2017, my freshman year of high school. Mom and dad told my
younger sister and me that we could each take a friend on vacation with us this
year. We wanted to take people that would be okay with us all hanging out together,
with this in mind we chose our cousins Adri and Ellie. One specific day of the
vacation, we spent on the beach tanning, boogie boarding, eating ice cream, playing
volleyball, and jumping waves. Jumping waves was my favorite part, we stood
about forty feet out in to the ocean. I was usually the type to stay up on the beach
lying in the sand under the glowing yellow sunsoaking up some rays instead of
actually going out in the water. I was completely content with my eyes closed
listening to the ocean wavesand squawking seagulls reaching that golden tan. On
this day the other girls came to me as I chatted with mom in the sand and told me
how exciting it was out in the water. I thought to myself You know what, why not
go try it out. I walked out in to the water looking down at the colorful array of
seashells. Gritty sand ran between my toes as the chill of the water rose up my legs
the further I ventured. I caught a glimpse of a beautiful red shell shining through the
water. I picked it up, and a small burst
Background of the Catholic Church Essay
Background
In the Western world, the schism within the Catholic Church has made its most
significant impact due to rapid changes in social standards. Of greatest importance is
the evolution of modern society and their response to the reverberated traditions of
the Catholic Church as well as the evolving Protestant sects. In consequence of
increases in technology and science, modern society has redefined its acceptable and
moral behavioral standards within a social setting, whereas, the Catholic Church
stands firm in its doctrines despite social and moral movements in the twentieth
century. Except for the Second Vatican Counciland the Council of Trent, the Roman
Catholic Church has not worked to revise its religious traditions in ... Show more

I don t believe that religious conversions need to take place, rather religious
communication and understanding. The intolerance perpetuated by Catholicism is a
feeling that I had at one point entertained in accordance with my Church s attitude. It
is only now, after exploring other religious services, I realize the ignorance that
intolerance perpetuates and I have grown spiritually from this revelation.
Upon these grounds I propose that it is reasonable and necessary to draw parallels
between Protestant and Catholic religious services as a start to narrow the gap
between Catholics and Protestants. It is in this acknowledgment of apparent
similarities in worship that Protestants and Catholics would be able to appreciate
each other for what they believe both religiously and socially. Whether or not people
realize this point, religion even while separated from the state, influences how each
individual approaches and interacts with another. The split between religion and state
widened a gap within humanity. By fostering new relationships and new parallels
within differing religions, this gap will begin to close.
Since the Protestant Churches arose due to the Reformation and a separation from
the authority of the Roman Catholic Church, there may exist Protestant rituals that
parallel Catholic rituals. Moreover, by

Informative Essay Hook
Pinkston, Anna Dr. Jeff Newberry ENGL 1101H August 26, 2017 As my ninth
grade English teacher, Mrs. Newton would say, without a good hook to start your
essay, no one will ever read it. As I was taught, a hook is a crucial part in your
essay because it will help grab the audience s attention so that they will continue to
be invested throughout the paper. For example, the hook could be a question or a
quote about the overall topic of your essay. In my junior year, we had to do a
controversial essay and I used a quote from a famous tattoo artist as my hook
because I did my essay over tattoos and piercings. After the hook, the introduction
begins to take form and show the audience what your essay is about. The
introduction is the first thing in your essay that will tell the audience what the essay
is about. The introduction paragraph should be as interesting as the initial hook and
keep the audience invested in the paper. It will establish the basis of the essay and
should contain the thesis statement. The thesis statement is the point in your essay
where you will state the topics that the essay will contain. In high school, we were
taught that the thesis should contain the three points that you will elaborate upon in
your three body paragraphs: the weakest point, the middle point, and the strongest
point. The first body paragraph should be the weakest or simplest way to get the
overall point of the essay across to the readers. This will be the foundation of all
three points,
Death Is The Study Of Dying, Death, And Bereavement
Thanatology
James Logan Machin
Denver School of Nursing
ABSTRACT
According to (Liming Dickenson 2011., p.3) thanatology is the study of dying,
death, and bereavement. I believe that the study of death will be a topic to be
discussed and forever researched. There are many different aspects of death that I
believe people can study, rather it be cultural believes, medically researching
different processes of death, or even just what your own personal discovery of
what death exactly is or what happens after death. No one can interview the dead.
No one can find out if death is peaceful, or if there is life after death, or what death
feels like. So for this topic of defining thanatology I wanted to look at the studies of
peoples near death experiences, interviews from people who are experiencing death,
the different cultures behind viewing death, and lastly the communication skills
needed for health care professionals to develop in order to discuss death and dying
amongst the patient and their family
THANATOLOGY Thanatology, as stated earlier, is the study of death, dying, and
bereavement. In 1903, Russian scientist, Elie Metchnikoff, who was famous for his
work in microbiology and the discovery of phagocytosis, advocated that without
consistent attention to death, life sciences would not be complete. Through this
argument, Metchnikoff called for the establishment of a science devoted to the study
of death. He argued that those who were dying had few or no
Virtue in Oroonoko (The Royal Slave) by Aphra Behn Essay
The story, Oroonoko; or, The Royal Slave, written by Aphra Behn, depicts the
main character, Oroonoko, as being an African prince that lives among his people,
whom all abide by a code of virtue and fidelity. When Oroonoko is faced with a
dilemma in his own country and living among a civilized white society, that are
devout Christians, he is confronted with the burden to uphold his code of virtue and
maintain a title of being a Noble Savage by means of loyalty, religious beliefs, and
honor.
Oroonoko is able to sustain his code of virtue and fidelity by showing an act of true
loyalty that proves his devotion and love to his lover and wife, Imoinda. After the

Oroonoko responds to the captain s promise, with his own promise:
Let him know I swear by my honor; which to violate, would not only render me
contemptible and despised by all brave and honest men, and so give myself perpetual
pain, but it would eternally offending and diseasing all man kind....(2333)
After these commitments are made, Oroonoko keeps his promise to the captain, but
unfortunately the captain s promise deems as nothing but empty words. Oroonoko
proves that worshiping a God, or a man s religious faith, is not what holds a true code
of virtue, but his true beliefs of honor and truthfulness.
Lastly, Oroonoko is able to uphold the code of virtue by maintaining his honor and
not give into the evils and broken promises of the deceitful civilized white man.
Rather than be destined to a life of slavery for himself, his wife, and unborn child,
Oroonoko displays an act of honor by killing his wife and unborn child and setting
them free. Even through all his misery, Oroonoko is able to maintain his honor to his
dying breath. This is apparent when Oroonoko is captured in the woods after he kills
Imoinda and awaits his death with honor at the hands of the white slave owners.

Sigmund Freud Theories
Sigmund Freud s Theories in Relation to Brave New World
One might imagine, what could truly constitute A brave new world? What parameters
must that world fall within? What decisive mind is manning the ship headed toward
this utopia? Certainly, this world has seen innumerous attempts, heard the many
strident voices, which barreled forth and propelled society toward that image. One of
those voices belonged to Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, and even,
perhaps, a deity of this brave new world.
Sigmund Freud was born May 6th, 1856, in Frieberg, Moravia to a textile dealer
named Jacob Freud (Chiriac, Jean, Sigmund Freud s Childhood ). He was one of
eight children, five sisters and three brothers. The family lived in Frieberg until
Sigmund was four years old, when the family then moved to Vienna where Sigmund
would remain for the vast majority of his life. By 1873, Freud would go on to study
medicine at the University of Vienna. Freud went get engaged in 1882, to a women
who would bear him six children. The relationship has been largely considered and
happy, prosperous union (Thornton, Stephan).
In 1938, shortly after the Annexation of Austria, Freud s home in Vienna was raided
by Nazis. Any of Freud s works written before May of 1933 were burned for their
flippant destigmatization of sexuality ( Sigmund Freud and the Holocaust ). With a
minimal understanding of the who and the why of Sigmund Freud, one can move in
to comprehending the true girth of his discovery
Critical Review Of Article Tolerance And Governance
Critical review of article Tolerance and governance in Abdolkarim Soroush s book In
the article Tolerance and Governance: a discourse on religion and democracy , the
writer Abdolkarim Soroush has defined justice as meta religious setting on which an
unexpectedly religiously democratic government needs to be based via its
revolutionized freedom, confidence, religious enthusiasm, necessity of tolerance and
a deep understanding of worldly matters (HOLTAN, 2005). The basic notion of a
democratic religious government is a substitute of both theocratic government and a
materialized liberal democracy, such as Iran and United States, respectively. In the
article, Soroush has defined a democratic religious government as the one which
offers a right of interpreting religious knowledge to each inhabitant, and allows him
or her to freely perform the classification of interpreted religious knowledge
democratically. After interpreting the article, I have assessed that Soroush has based
such type of government on an underlying principle which states that populace of a
religious community reveal their religious views in their political matters. Thus, in
case such community s political system is based upon role and viewpoints of
common public, then those religious viewpoints are symbolized by such system. I
think that by stating this Soroush wants to say that the freedom of debating and
expressing one s religious viewpoints publically transforms a government to a
religious one.

This term has been in use in the computer industry at least since the early 1960s.
The form, design and implementation of CPUs have changed dramatically since the
earliest examples, but their fundamental operation remains much the same. Early
CPUs were custom designed as a part of a larger, sometimes one of a kind, and
computer. However, this costly method of designing custom CPUs for a particular
application has largely given way to the development of mass produced processors
that are made for one or many purposes. This standardization trend generally began
in the era of discrete transistor mainframes and mini computers and has rapidly
accelerated with the popularization of the integrated circuit (IC). The IC has allowed
increasingly complex CPUs to be designed and manufactured to tolerances on the
order of nanometers. Both the miniaturization and standardization of CPUs have
increased the presence of these digital devices in modern life far beyond the limited
application of dedicated computing machines. Modern Microprocessors appear in
everything from automobiles to cell phones and children s toys. Fig:3 Diagram of

King s Speech By Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I Have a Dream one of the most popular speeches in history was written by Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr., an African American preacher. He directs his speech to two
main groups of people. The first group being those listening to the speech, and the
second being those who are just around the area where he is delivering his speech.
King s speech is focusing on the civil rights of the African Americancitizens. He talks
about how poorly the other people have treated them. He uses historical
documentation to back up his points. King s main concern is that if all men are
created equally, then why are men of color being treated differently. His main
purpose in writing and delivering this speech is to change the thoughts people
have developed about African Americans. He appeals to emotions as well as logic,
and uses some appeal to his credibility as a writer and speaker. King also utilizes his
personal experiences to help with his emotional approach to this speech. King is
very good at capturing the audiences attention through emotional appeal. He makes
sure to talk about the poor treatment people of color have had to deal with. One
hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of
segregation and the chains of discrimination. (King). He uses this time span to put
into perspective how long African Americans have been waiting to finally be free
from treatment such as, segregation and discrimination. He uses analogies to help his

Family Values In American Family
In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of
Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration
from Asian countries has increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants
coming to America at this time were voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While
Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came to the United Statesfor
business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried to
escape their countries in the World War II.
The majority of Asian Americanfirst generation come from a strong tradition of
extended and kinship ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration,
they have been quickly reconstructed to shape family patterns in the historical periods
(Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian immigrants from different countries of origin mostly
come with their families. They also bring their cultures and values in their home
country to the United States. There are some common family values in the Asian
American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of the
family, filial piety, respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education.
While these traditional values offer a strong moral basis sustaining the Asian
American family, they have often clashed with dominant American cultural values
and have caused emotional pain and detrimental consequences in the family and
community (Zhou 30). Other than that, when the first wave of Asian immigrants

called net assets. (Cleverly et. al. pg. 185 para.1) This requires balancing reports
about changes in either side of the equation. In health care, for instance, changes
such as buying supplies, receiving payment for services, or paying the electric bill
are all transactions that require balancing the books, so to speak, so that the
equation is still equal. Cost Valuation Cost Valuation can be defined as choosing
the right price for services, supplies and other things of value (Hutton, 2005).
Choosing the right price may be based on the history of what the entity has paid
that is reflected by money measurement or may be based on other measures of
what a cost should be (Cleverly et. al.). Market value is a way to assess a cost value.
This seems to be favorite way with many organizations. This method is not considered
The Best Survival Knife
Best survival knife can mean a hundred different things but for someone who wants
the best from the most coveted survival tool, you need to be mindful of what you
buy. Survival knives are quite popular with hunters, trekkers and a group of people
who like to explore the wild. A survival knife makes way for increased safety and
security and works out to be that one tool that you can bet your life on. That said
buying the overly hyped best survival knifeas claimed by marketers is not always the
best thing to do.
When it comes down to making a purchase for your personal use, you have to be
careful about not overlooking these following features. The features that we are
going to discuss in this article may seem like the basic features of any given best
survival knife but, their presence or absence can make a huge difference in
determining the true use and durability of the knife. ... Show more content on

Only when you make a close observation, can you point out subtle differences in the
knife you think is the best and the knife that is actually the best. A good knife has a
strong and sturdy design. It may not seem to be visually appealing to you but looks
are the last thing you should expect in a good knife.
A conventional design with a few functional upgrades here and there is always a
safe choice to make. The first thing you should look for in the knife is its structure
when you are assessing the design. There are knifes that claim to bring a lot of
convenience by way of flexible design like the swivel blade knifes but these don t
quite last. A knife with a traditional design and a good grip is good enough to be
tagged as the best survival knife. Of course, there are other prerequisites too and
these, we are going to discuss
How Is Beowulf An Epic Hero
Beowulf was an epic poem that included the character Beowulf, a great soldier who
became an even greater king. Beowulf slayed great Pagan creatures such as the
Grendel and the Dragon of the Tower. Beowulf even reigned as Geatland s ring
giver for a whole fifty winters without being besieged by an opposing force. Some
people dispute that Beowulfis not actual epic hero, despite all of the hard, cold
evidence that states otherwise. A classical epic has traits that designate whether or
not the hero is an epic hero. Beowulf is considered an epic hero within the story
because of these heroic characteristics that he displays: being a figure of legend,
possessing supernatural strength and abilities, and having the assisstance of gods in
his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the author conveyed, Alone shall fight for me, stuggle for life
/ Against the monster. God must decide / Who will be given to death s cold grip.
(252 254). In this extract, Beowulf is stating how God shall decide who shall be
victorious in his battle versus Grendel. This is indicating that God shall side with
good instead of siding with the evil, Pagan Grendel. Additionally, Beowulf recited,
I thank / Our Father in Heaven, Ruler of the Earth / For all of this, that His grace
has given me, / Allowed me to bring to my people while breath / Still came to my
lips. I sold my life / For this treasure, and I sold it well. (1017 1022). In this
instance, Beowulf is thanking God for assisting him through his duels with
Paganistic creatures. He thanks God for allowing him to give his fame to Geatland
and for giving him the ability to protect Geatland. This is a perfect example of a
god s assistance through the protagonist s story. This shows, again, how Beowulf is
an epic hero because of the god s aid in his
Should Romeo And Juliet Get Married
I think Romeo and Juliet shouldn t get secretively married because they just met
each other and her nurse doesn t want her to get married because she thinks Juliet is
going to have a baby if she get married. Another thing is the Montagues and the
Capulets doesn t get alone. So if she was to get married to him there would be a fight
or an argument like everyday.
The biggest and most obvious reason is that the Montagues and Capulets have a
blood feud. The families can barely pass each other in the street without the situation
devolving into a sword fight. It isn t likely, then, that either family would approve of
a marriage between Romeo and Juliet. Another reason they shouldn t get married is
because Juliet already has a prospective suitor
Descriptive Essay On The New York City
I close my eyes and everything seems so calm that it is as if time itself has stopped
altogether. A wave of peacefulness rushes over me. New York City, I still cannot
believe it. I begin to hear a soft hum in my ears that quickly increases in volume. I
open my eyes and I am suddenly brought back to reality as the train rushes by, its
horn blowing loud and strong. The train slows to a stop and the doors open. All at
once a massive crowd of people rush off of the subway. Those of us standing on the
platform push through the crowd, praying that our massive group of dancers will all
make it onto the train. Due to the morning rushhour there is not a seat in sight and
there is barely any room to stand. As the train lurches forward we struggle to stay
standing. I look out of the window and watch the flashes of graffiti on the dark
walls as we charge forward. The train stops and starts three times. Each station just
as chaotic as the last. We quickly approach our fourth stop, West 4th Street, the
nerves begin to kick in. The train slows to a stop and once again we push through
the morning foot traffic. We follow the signs towards the West 8th Street exit,
struggling to stay together. I think to myself, whatever happens, don t lose sight of
the chaperone. As we approach the stairwell the air begins to feel cooler. We reach
the top of the stairs and the entire atmosphere changes. Whereas the people in the
subway were frantic and rude, the people that filled the sidewalks are calm
Memory And Imagination
Memory and imagination are central to Brian Friels play, Dancing at Lughnasa and
Emma Donoghues 2010 novel, Room; However, as memory provides substance to
imagination and vice versa there can often be a blurring of lines between memory and
imagination, shuffling events and shuffling reality. This overlap between memoryand
imagination will be the main focus of this essay.
According to Pierre Nora, memory can be multiple, yet also specific, collective,
plural and individual; it only accommodates facts that suit it and nourishes the
recollections that might be particular or symbolic (Nora 9). Memory is life, borne by
living societies founded in its name. It remains in permanent evolution, open to the
dialectic of remembering and forgetting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Room is the story of five year old, Jack and his Ma, who live in an eleven by eleven
shed, named Room . Unaware of the truths of life, Jack tells the story of living and
escaping room from entirely from his own perspective. This story centralises John
Milton s idea that the mind is its own self and can make a haven out of a hell (John
Milton s a Paradise Lost: A sourcebook 92). In a truly grim situation, we enter the
world Ma has created through Jacks own eyes. As a child, Jack knows so much
less than an adult, allowing him to guess and imagine so much (The Irish Times
2010). Knowing nothing of the outside world beyond fantasies of the television
screen, with the help of Ma s imagination, Jack presents the small space of Room as
a world full of love, inanimate friends and fun. In the first half of the novel, readers
are invited into Jacks world inside Room, through his innocent eyes, everything from
counting one hundred cereal and waterfall milk to giving Plant a cup of water and
eating with Meltedy Spoon creates a world full of imagination, love and excitement

Influenza A H1N1 Virus
Introduction
In 1918 19 approximately 50 million deaths were a detriment of the Spanish H1N1
virus pandemic; a respiratory virus. According to the World Health Organization, the
second Influenza A H1N1 pandemic in 2009 spread to more than 200 countries
causing more than 18 000 deaths. Before the World Health Organization had
announced the official end of the pandemic in August 2010, in July 2009 the World
Health Organization sent out a phase 6 warning that H1N1 could soon be a global
pandemic. It is important to recognize that the 2 different outbreaks had different A

for mutation, severely complicating the human body s natural immune mechanism of

Etiology
An influenza virus possesses 8 genes, 6 derived from the triple North American
swine virus lineages and 2 from the Eurasian swine virus lineage. (Cauchemez,
Donnelly, Reed, 2003) Influenza A is a part of the Orthomyxoviridae family of
viruses that contains a segmented RNA genome. There are 3 influenza types A, B
and C, influenza A and B being responsible for the influenza pandemics. The
Influenza A subtype morphology determination is as a result of the antigenic
properties of two membrane glycoproteins: hemagglutinin (HA 16 types) and
neuraminidase (NA 9 types). In
Lord Atkin s Neighbor Principle
As illustrated through Lord Atkin s Neighbour Principle , established in the case
of Donoghue v Stevenson , tort of negligence provides a remedy for those who
suffer loss due to the behaviour of a person who fails to adhere to a legal duty to
take reasonable care. On these grounds, it appears that Geoff and Beth may be held
to have joint several liability in negligently causing Paul physical damage.
Paul could bring a tortuous action against Geoff on the grounds of negligent
driving, in relation to his head and collarbone injuries. As elucidated by Greer LJ in
Haynes v Harwood , to have a cause of action in negligence, there must be the
neglect of some duty owed to the claimant. Accordingly, Geoff s legal duty of care
is established through s.3 Road Traffic Act 1988, which, in imposing strict liability
in cases of negligent driving, creates a duty of care. It provides that a driver is
deemed to have committed a tortuous act by driving carelessly without due care and
attention , therefore as Geoff is driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, he has a
statutory duty of care towards other road users.
There then arises the question as to whether Geoff s behaviour has fallen below the
reasonable standard of care . This is based on the premise that liability arises where
the defendant causes loss or damage to another by fault . Paul could thus attest the
first two hurdles in bringing a negligence action against Geoff, as Geoff has clearly
breached his statutory duty of

Summary Spousal emotional abuse is ongoing, significant problem, impacting nearly
35% of women. Emotional abuse by a spouse or romantic partner can often lead to
negative psychological outcomes, including depression, anxiety, low self esteem,
posttraumatic stress disorder, learned helplessness, and resentment of the abuser that
persists even when the abuse ends. There have not been designated therapies
designed to help these women. Gayle L. Reed and Robert D. Enright (2006) examine
the roles forgiveness therapy has on emotionally abused women in the article The

The women completed an array of measures, including self reports and tests. The
scores based on these pretests were compared to the posttests after the study was
completed. Once they were paired and randomly placed into either the forgiveness
therapy group or the alternate group, the women underwent weekly counseling
sessions. The researchers conducted a matched pair t tests and compared the gain
scores from the pretest and posttest for each group. They also compared the pretest to
the follow up appointment. The results of the study demonstrated that the participants
in the FT treatment group showed a significant difference in self esteem, everyday
decisions, moral decisions, and in survivor status. This group also showed a
significantly greater reduction in depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress
symptoms (Gayle amp; Enright, 2006). The Effects of Forgiveness Therapy on
Depression, Anxiety, and Posttraumatic Stress for Women After Spousal Emotional
Abuse demonstrates the importance finding a specific therapy that is designed to
help the women suffering from this abuse. The results from this study, conducted by
Gayle amp; Enright (2006) illustrates that forgiveness therapy can help improve a
women s self esteem and ameliorate the negative effects of this abuse, including
depression and anxiety. This study provides a concrete
Why Is Lying Acceptable
Is Lying Acceptable? Is honesty always the best policy? There is a great split
between people when it comes to the topic of lying. Some say lying is utterly
wrong, no matter what; however, other individuals say lying is justified. There are
many beliefs about the justification of lying, including the belief that the position of
the liar determines if lying is okay. Lying can be allowable because sometimes there
is a need to protect others. Lying is not completely wrong, especially when it comes
to the sentiments of others. For example, it is, OK to liein certain situations, like
protecting someone s feelings (Life on NBCNEWS.com, July 11, 2006). As things
go, there are instances in which telling the truthwould distress others, while a lie
could save another person from grief. Furthermore, telling someone a lie to help
someone emotionally is morally right. Thus, telling a lie can be the correct thing to
do when trying to protect someone from mental, emotional, and physical harm. It is
possible, that one may find... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Sissela Bok s article about Immanuel Kant, she states, Truthfulness in statements
which cannot be avoided is the formal duty of an individual to everyone, however
great may be the disadvantage (Rejecting All Lies: Immanuel Kant, Bok). This is
disproved because, Anne Frank survived as long as she did because those sheltering
her lied to the Nazis. The French Resistance...could not have operated without
deception. Military and intelligence officials will as a matter of routine lie to
protect secret plans or agents at risk (Gray et.al, 1992). This shows that lying
protected real life individuals in real life danger. A lie changed the entire outcome if
many of the affairs. For the most part, many believe the truth to be more important
than anything else, but a lie can be the difference between life and

Drones Vs Quadcopters
Drones versus U.S. Laws
Quadcopters or also known as aerial drones has quickly becoming one of the most
popular trends in video production or just as a recreational hobby. For
videographers, quadcopters offers the ability to take incredible shots that could take
days of planning and higher cost with a helicopter as done before drones. In
response to the growing popularity, many people has concerns about the ability to
abuse this device for privacy violation, and terrorism. Over the past 2 years there has
been numerous news, articles, and blogs headlines expressing the unconformity of
the US laws due to the negative potential of civil flight drones. I consider there is
sufficient laws and regulations to completely cover the unacceptable use of aerial
aircrafts like in the two of the amendments from the Bill of Rights, aircraft guideline

black man would like to express his thoughts of what they should do in their
situation, the girl will not even give him a chance. Once the black man sees just how

have worn a hat but since he didn t he took his shirt off and wrapped it around his
head like a turban. When he stopped rowing to do this the girl sat up from tanning
and smiled at him and said, You look like an Arab. A sheik
. A galley slave, more
likely. (57 58), referring to him as her slave. No, really. Honestly (58) she says,
reassuring him that she was not kidding when she called him a galley slave.
Now they start to talk about the situation that they are in when the girl says, I m
already putting on weight (58). Which in this story means that she is pregnant and
then she tells the man that she told her mother about them and their situation but she
never looked at him when she was talking to him. She was facing the sun with her
eyes shut when the man asked And? (58) And the girl replied kind of snotty by
saying, And nothing. I told her that I love you very much (58). The man starting to
realize how much this girl doesn t care about him takes his frustration out on the
water by rowing faster and not very smoothly.
She tells the man that her mother likes him but just worries about her a lot because
she thinks that her daughter is fragile. Especially now, because I ve had some close

The Sequel To The Film Magic Mike XXL
Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the film Magic Mike that was released in 2012, is
hilariously entertaining furthermore, the eye candy isn t inadequet either. Channing
Tatum returns hotter than ever and ready for the big stripper reunion in Myrtle
Beach, SC. Consequently, while I am never a big fan of sequels I have to say that
at least this part two, creates its own story with just scant references to the first
movie. This makes Magic Mike XXL equally entertaining for those who saw part
one and those who did not see the original. It seems, perhaps, the movie works hard
to break a few stereotypical thoughts about strippers, moreover, it makes you realize
that these are not just a bunch of hot bodied individuals but actual men in pursuit

  • 3. Black Men In The Scottsboro Boys The communist party was all for supporting black people having a self government and self determination even though some weren t in favor of this cause. Also due to the rise of the communist party there was an increase in political effort to protect the lives of African Americans. The communist party was able to help save the lives of nine young black men from execution. This case was known as the Scottsboro Boys ; in Alabama there were nine African American teenagers that were arrested in 1931 for supposably involved in raping two white women on a train. The teenagers were accused, convicted and were soon to face the death penalty. Luckily for them the many African Americans from the communist party supported them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case offered these young men an opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black men and the struggle they face against class and racial oppression. This case was also a very personal case to the boy s families because they understood what it felt like for their own husbands and children getting accused of raping someone and they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a thousand black men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the nine young men. In the end the case was successful and the boys were taken out of custody. Because everyone came together for a good cause the boys escaped execution, Janie Patterson made this plea to help
  • 4. How Did Martin Luther King Jr Unjust Dr.Martin Luther King jr vs Unjust laws Fellow Clergymen One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Dr. Martin Luther King jr believes that laws are unjust if they only apply to certain groups and the way he personalized his argument for the clergymen was very convincing. Laws in Birmingham were not fair to every race and only targeted mostly minorities even if the minority made up the majority of the population. He was non violently protesting to change these unjust laws so that every man, woman and child could have the same opportunities and rights. He also wanted to stop the flow of injustice into other states as it had infected Alabama. As president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference he was invited to attend a sit in in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While attending this sit in he was arrested and thrown in jail for breaking the law for parading without a permit . This law inherently denies any protestor of their first amendment rights and that was only one point that Dr.King was trying to make. Birmingham s economic council convened with the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights and they agreed to remove any inappropriate signs and let any race enjoy their stores. But, the economic council broke their promise and kept the signs and didn t allow any black people into their stores causing more unrest. This irritated and incited more frustration among the already angry black population. Dr.King knew that non violent protesting of these discriminations and unjust laws was the only way to bring about change without causing a war between white and black people. Dr.King provides the example that some laws were created without any input from the race being discriminated upon because these races had not been allowed to vote. The black people had to go through more rigorous screening to vote than white people causing whole counties to not have any black registered voters. Dr.King tried to make his argument more clear by drawing similarities
  • 5. What Was The Golden Age Of The Victorian Era Queen Victoria of England ruled from 1837 to 1901, making her the second longest reigning monarch in England. During her reign, an entire era was coined in her name by historians. To what is considered the golden age of England, the Victorian period brought a time of improvements in society, great achievement, and revolutionary ideas that paved the way for modern times. Like today, the Victorian society functioned on three main classes: upper class, middle class and working class. The upper class consisted of the wealthy, nobles, and anyone with relations to the royal family. These people could afford the life of luxury because depending on who you were, your family probably owned a major mining or shipping business. People in this class saw many privileges like access to phenomenal education and could import expensive goods from different countries. One class that was growing each day was the middle class. These citizens lived in suitable conditions and many owned smaller but vast businesses like tailor shops. Multiple businesses led to the increase of job opportunities. These opportunities for jobs is what helped the middle class grow during this period. The final and bottom class is the working class. People in this class lived in poverty and sometimes were even homeless. Categories to describe the working class were skilled workers and unskilled workers. The skilled worker would be offered a job specialized to his skill, but if the person was unskilled, he could

The Social, Cultural, And Entertainment News The social, cultural, and entertainment news around the date of my birth included many top and important releases, a few top hits are still in today. Top songs I got to listen to as a newborn were I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly, Wannabe by Spice Girls, and Candle in the Wind by Elton John. In 1973, Elton John wrote the first Candle in the Wind as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. Then in 1997when Princess Diana died in a car crash, he rewrote it and only performed it live at her funeral (Doyle). A misunderstanding occurred between UC Santa Barbara players and their coach, Jerry Pimm. All of the players voted that their couch should resign, but the vote in turn was a play to get Pimm to talk with them ( Gauchos Mutiny Against Pimm. ). Another sport event that happened in 1997 included a new rookie talking too big than what has yet happened. Maurice Taylor, a basketball player, wont back down even though his career just started because he knows that he is able to accomplish everything he is saying (Baker). Fashion statements were divided into two themes in 1997 the minimalism and luxury look. The minimalism was a sense of sophisticated simplicity that most women preferred (Cosgrave). In silk and cashmere, the luxury look was quietly expressed. Also it was common for everyone to wear baseball caps but the way they wore them differed from straight forward to people wearing them backwards majority of the time or even side ways occasionally (Phipps). Entertainment was successful in 1997 and so was the economy. Unemployment rates were 5.4% in
  • 7. What Is The Theme Of The Eve Of St Keats In The Eve of St. Agnes, Keats finds out a happy alternative of Isabella, Lamia, and the other darker odes linking with death or failure. The major theme of this poem is the celebration of human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative projection of young love (Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading the poem than of an intense, happy, achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly experience and through Keats magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. The poem tells the story of Madeline and her lover Porphyro who are deeply in love but their families are against of it. Madeline is practicing a St. Agnes Eve ritual to fulfill her dream... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love. Here Keats represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and somewhere in the character of Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly escape from the decaying castle are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the superstition connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and also his expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic period seems to have been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his love for Fanny Brawne that inspires him to write much of his poetry after December of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same year, If the crude equation be taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline is Fanny and Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in The Eve of St. Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia, and Apollonius is Charles Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats by insisting upon her as the female animal. The identification seems transparent (Stillinger, 1999, p.

Keys to Win the Cola War with Innovative Marketing Strategies Product Mix: Key to Winning the Cola War Pepsi and Coca Cola have stood the test of time through one of the strongest competition rivalries ever seen in the business world. Each time that one of these beverage giants makes an innovative move to conquer a new or existing beverage market, the other is quick to respond with even better innovations or products. Through the years, each of these companies have heralded fabulous discoveries and absolute flops as they continued their endless search for the right mix of products that might someday give them the largest market share in an ever growing and ever needed market. The results so far have been increased competitiveness and long product lines for both companies. In this essay, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pepsi and Coke have also been targeting this growing consumer market in their soda lines with new innovations of low or no carb drinks such as Pepsi Edge3 and Coke s C24, as well as reinvigorations of their already no carb diet drinks. So where do the sports drinks fit into this low carb craze? The answer is they don t. Each of these sports drinks is packed with enough carbohydrates to equal a liquid potato, making them nothing but a memory for people whose daily carb intake is down to 20 60 grams.5 Thus, we have a void in the beverage market that is not being filled. Further deepening this void is the fact that people losing weight tend to be more active, craving something besides water or diet soda after their workouts. This is a perfect example of how a shift in product mix for either company could give them distinct competitive advantage. By simply creating a no carb line of Gatorade or PowerAde sports drinks, the company will have altered its product mix and filled the market void with brand loyal users, adding to the overall market resiliency and strength of the parent company.6 Further analysis of this product line could also reveal strong needs for having different strengths of sports drinks for different levels of activity (i.e. zero carbs for slightly active, 15 grams of carbs for moderately active, and up to 120 grams for marathon runners) enabling a kind of mass customization to ensure that the product line can suit any and all

  • 11. Classic Interactions Between Patients And Doctors Classic interactions between patients and doctors rely heavily on medical competence. The doctor, the supposed superior in the arrangement, acts as a symbol for scientific proficiency while the patient exists as a sponge. While extensive knowledge is nonnegotiable in the field, empathy is a key component in ensuring proper diagnoses and sustaining healthy, impartial interactions. Margaret Edson s play W;t employs dialogue and discontinuous juxtaposition in order to draw attention to the inevitable disconnect between patients and providers, which endangers successful medical engagement and outcomes. Proper communication is critical in fostering interpersonal connections. This is particularly essential in medicine, as patients and providers often communicate with strictly bureaucratic terms. Dr. Kelekian and Vivian address each other with not only impersonal terms, but truly contradictory titles: Doctor and Miss respectively (7). The professionalism in doctor and the informality in Miss juxtaposes the two characters affluence, suggesting that the patient is subservient to the dominant medical professional. This power dynamic sets the stage for disproportionate, inequitable dialogue. Consequentially, this very dynamic indicates a hierarchical structure that reduces Kelekian s empathy as he does not address Vivian with her proper title, Professor . Rather, she is reduced to a generalized Miss , clumping her and all other patients with that title into the same

  • 17. The Role Of Division In The Movie Freedom There are several problems that seem universal and difficult to solve. One pressing issue is that of keeping unity among a group of people and preventing division. How can all members of the group receive some benefit with minimal efforts and losses appears to be the question that groups must address to be successful. This applies to groupings of all sorts of levels, such as, nations, sports teams, classrooms, marriages, and businesses among others. Looking at issues currently facing our nation, many examples of this can be seen. Recently our nation has seen riots, divisions, and disagreements. Despite all the seemingly endless divisions, there are practices that would greatly improve the condition and unity of the nation. In the movie Freedom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the largest causes for division is people not understanding each other very well. Ignorance of another person s or group of persons background, mindset, or other characteristics often leads to fear or hesitancy to work together. Eliminating misunderstandings helps alleviate divisions. It can be difficult to truly try to understand someone though. As the late Stephen Covey said, a person should seek first to understand, then to be understood. This means that the person must be willing to be fully open to what the other person is portraying without trying to push their own agenda. Ms. Gruwell demonstrated this well. She sought to understand her students in order to gain their respect before trying to teach her material. She used pop culture references that appealed to them, read personal journal entries, listened to them without interjecting, and tried to help her students in any way she could. She sacrificed much of her own time and value before she ever asked anything of her students. In doing so, she unified her students and was able to get them to buy in and do amazing things. If people are willing to delay their wants and try to understand others first, many of the problems facing our society today would

Lowering The Legal Drinking Age Lowering of the Legal Drinking Age Research Paper Adults under 21 are able to vote, sign contracts, serve on juries, and enlist in the military, but are told that they are not mature enough to have a beer?, said Ruth C. Engs, a professor of Applied Health Sciences at Indiana University (Engs). No matter what is done, teenagers and young adults all over America are going to drink if they want to. The question is, why can t they start legally drinking when they enter adulthood? An alternative to simply lowering the minimum legal drinking age could be thought of, such as, having a learner s permit for responsible drinking for people between the ages of 18 21. In other cultures where the minimum legal drinking age is lower, there is not as large of a problem with drinking. Lowering the minimum legal drinking age would stop criminalizing a large amount of people for the minor crime of underage drinking, which on your record makes it hard for young people to apply for jobs or apply to colleges. Underage Drinking in America Realistically, teenagers are going to drink no matter what. The minimum drinking age debate in America seems to primarily revolve around one issue: drunk driving. The increased minimum drinking age does not solve the problem of drunk driving in any real way, it just shifts drunk driving deaths into a slightly older age group. Additionally, because teenagers are afraid of getting caught drinking, many end up drinking large amounts of alcohol in short

World War II had forty days of combat in four years(Interesting Facts). That statistic shows how rough the Vietnam War was. The fighting was constant between the two sides. This war was fought over politics and had many gruesome battles. Before the Vietnam war, Vietnam was in a revolution because they did not want to be ruled by France. Vietnam wanted to be independent right after World War II ended in 1945. Japan had control of them, when Japan surrendered to the Allies the French never left Vietnam and claimed it as a territory(Mintz). Vietnam got their independence in 1954. Vietnam divided the nation until they could hold an election to have a united Vietnam. A problem then arose, the north wanted a communist government and the south wanted a democratic government. China s communist government influenced the north. South Vietnam was influenced by the United States to the East. The elections were canceled and North Vietnam attacks the south. The United States was funding and training south Vietnam until 1957. In 1957, an American ship was attacked. That was the point when the United States sent in soldiers and started bombing runs on the North(Cole). The Vietnam War had many huge battles with very high body counts. Some battles were very brutal. The first major battle of the war was the Battle of Ap Bac (January 2,1962).

The study is based on how Humans behave physically and psychologically. In Aviation, human factors have been applied since the last 70 years. Mom and dad told my younger sister and me that we could each take a friend on vacation with us this year. We wanted to take people that would be okay with us all hanging out together, with this in mind we chose our cousins Adri and Ellie. One specific day of the vacation, we spent on the beach tanning, boogie boarding, eating ice cream, playing volleyball, and jumping waves. Jumping waves was my favorite part, we stood about forty feet out in to the ocean. I was usually the type to stay up on the beach lying in the sand under the glowing yellow sunsoaking up some rays instead of actually going out in the water. I was completely content with my eyes closed listening to the ocean wavesand squawking seagulls reaching that golden tan. On this day the other girls came to me as I chatted with mom in the sand and told me how exciting it was out in the water. I thought to myself You know what, why not go try it out. I walked out in to the water looking down at the colorful array of seashells. Gritty sand ran between my toes as the chill of the water rose up my legs the further I ventured. Upon these grounds I propose that it is reasonable and necessary to draw parallels between Protestant and Catholic religious services as a start to narrow the gap between Catholics and Protestants. As I was taught, a hook is a crucial part in your essay because it will help grab the audience s attention so that they will continue to be invested throughout the paper. For example, the hook could be a question or a quote about the overall topic of your essay. In my junior year, we had to do a controversial essay and I used a quote from a famous tattoo artist as my hook because I did my essay over tattoos and piercings. After the hook, the introduction begins to take form and show the audience what your essay is about. The introduction is the first thing in your essay that will tell the audience what the essay is about. The introduction paragraph should be as interesting as the initial hook and keep the audience invested in the paper. It will establish the basis of the essay and should contain the thesis statement. The thesis statement is the point in your essay where you will state the topics that the essay will contain. In high school, we were taught that the thesis should contain the three points that you will elaborate upon in your three body paragraphs: the weakest point, the middle point, and the strongest point. The first body paragraph should be the weakest or simplest way to get the overall point of the essay across to the readers. This will be the foundation of all three points,
  • 32. Death Is The Study Of Dying, Death, And Bereavement Thanatology James Logan Machin Denver School of Nursing ABSTRACT According to (Liming Dickenson 2011., p.3) thanatology is the study of dying, death, and bereavement. I believe that the study of death will be a topic to be discussed and forever researched. There are many different aspects of death that I believe people can study, rather it be cultural believes, medically researching different processes of death, or even just what your own personal discovery of what death exactly is or what happens after death. No one can interview the dead. No one can find out if death is peaceful, or if there is life after death, or what death feels like. So for this topic of defining thanatology I wanted to look at the studies of peoples near death experiences, interviews from people who are experiencing death, the different cultures behind viewing death, and lastly the communication skills needed for health care professionals to develop in order to discuss death and dying amongst the patient and their family THANATOLOGY Thanatology, as stated earlier, is the study of death, dying, and bereavement. In 1903, Russian scientist, Elie Metchnikoff, who was famous for his work in microbiology and the discovery of phagocytosis, advocated that without consistent attention to death, life sciences would not be complete. Through this argument, Metchnikoff called for the establishment of a science devoted to the study of death. He argued that those who were dying had few or no

  • 35. Critical Review Of Article Tolerance And Governance Critical review of article Tolerance and governance in Abdolkarim Soroush s book In the article Tolerance and Governance: a discourse on religion and democracy , the writer Abdolkarim Soroush has defined justice as meta religious setting on which an unexpectedly religiously democratic government needs to be based via its revolutionized freedom, confidence, religious enthusiasm, necessity of tolerance and a deep understanding of worldly matters (HOLTAN, 2005). The basic notion of a democratic religious government is a substitute of both theocratic government and a materialized liberal democracy, such as Iran and United States, respectively. In the article, Soroush has defined a democratic religious government as the one which offers a right of interpreting religious knowledge to each inhabitant, and allows him or her to freely perform the classification of interpreted religious knowledge democratically. After interpreting the article, I have assessed that Soroush has based such type of government on an underlying principle which states that populace of a religious community reveal their religious views in their political matters. Thus, in case such community s political system is based upon role and viewpoints of common public, then those religious viewpoints are symbolized by such system. I think that by stating this Soroush wants to say that the freedom of debating and expressing one s religious viewpoints publically transforms a government to a religious one.

This term has been in use in the computer industry at least since the early 1960s. The form, design and implementation of CPUs have changed dramatically since the earliest examples, but their fundamental operation remains much the same. Early CPUs were custom designed as a part of a larger, sometimes one of a kind, and computer. However, this costly method of designing custom CPUs for a particular application has largely given way to the development of mass produced processors that are made for one or many purposes. This standardization trend generally began in the era of discrete transistor mainframes and mini computers and has rapidly accelerated with the popularization of the integrated circuit (IC). The IC has allowed increasingly complex CPUs to be designed and manufactured to tolerances on the order of nanometers. Both the miniaturization and standardization of CPUs have increased the presence of these digital devices in modern life far beyond the limited application of dedicated computing machines. Modern Microprocessors appear in everything from automobiles to cell phones and children s toys. • 39. King s Speech By Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I Have a Dream one of the most popular speeches in history was written by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an African American preacher. He directs his speech to two main groups of people. The first group being those listening to the speech, and the second being those who are just around the area where he is delivering his speech. King s speech is focusing on the civil rights of the African Americancitizens. He talks about how poorly the other people have treated them. He uses historical documentation to back up his points. King s main concern is that if all men are created equally, then why are men of color being treated differently. His main purpose in writing and delivering this speech is to change the thoughts people have developed about African Americans. He appeals to emotions as well as logic, and uses some appeal to his credibility as a writer and speaker. King also utilizes his personal experiences to help with his emotional approach to this speech. King is very good at capturing the audiences attention through emotional appeal. He makes sure to talk about the poor treatment people of color have had to deal with. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. (King). He uses this time span to put into perspective how long African Americans have been waiting to finally be free from treatment such as, segregation and discrimination. He uses analogies to help his audience

Immigration from Asian countries has increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were voluntarily immigrants and refugees. There are some common family values in the Asian American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of the family, filial piety, respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these traditional values offer a strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often clashed with dominant American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental consequences in the family and community (Zhou 30). However, there are five generally accepted guiding principles used in the management of the financial aspects of health care management (Cleverly, Song Cleverly, 2011). Liabilities are resources that are owed for services, supplies and other things that the organization has acquired. The ideal goal of any business is for the assets to be greater than the liabilities (Cleverly et. al.). Duality Duality is a simple mathematical equation or rather, it seems simple. The equation states, The value of assets must always equal the combined value of liabilities and residual interest, which we have called net assets. (Cleverly et. al. pg. 185 para.1) This requires balancing reports about changes in either side of the equation. In health care, for instance, changes such as buying supplies, receiving payment for services, or paying the electric bill are all transactions that require balancing the books, so to speak, so that the equation is still equal. Cost Valuation Cost Valuation can be defined as choosing the right price for services, supplies and other things of value (Hutton, 2005). Choosing the right price may be based on the history of what the entity has paid that is reflected by money measurement or may be based on other measures of what a cost should be (Cleverly et. al.). Market value is a way to assess a cost value. This seems to be favorite way with many organizations. This method is not considered

New York City, I still cannot believe it. I begin to hear a soft hum in my ears that quickly increases in volume. I open my eyes and I am suddenly brought back to reality as the train rushes by, its horn blowing loud and strong. The train slows to a stop and the doors open. All at once a massive crowd of people rush off of the subway. Those of us standing on the platform push through the crowd, praying that our massive group of dancers will all make it onto the train. Due to the morning rushhour there is not a seat in sight and there is barely any room to stand. As the train lurches forward we struggle to stay standing. I look out of the window and watch the flashes of graffiti on the dark walls as we charge forward. The train stops and starts three times. Each station just as chaotic as the last. We quickly approach our fourth stop, West 4th Street, the nerves begin to kick in. The train slows to a stop and once again we push through the morning foot traffic. We follow the signs towards the West 8th Street exit, struggling to stay together. I think to myself, whatever happens, don t lose sight of the chaperone. As we approach the stairwell the air begins to feel cooler. We reach the top of the stairs and the entire atmosphere changes. Whereas the people in the subway were frantic and rude, the people that filled the sidewalks are calm

  • 49. Lord Atkin s Neighbor Principle As illustrated through Lord Atkin s Neighbour Principle , established in the case of Donoghue v Stevenson , tort of negligence provides a remedy for those who suffer loss due to the behaviour of a person who fails to adhere to a legal duty to take reasonable care. On these grounds, it appears that Geoff and Beth may be held to have joint several liability in negligently causing Paul physical damage. Paul could bring a tortuous action against Geoff on the grounds of negligent driving, in relation to his head and collarbone injuries. As elucidated by Greer LJ in Haynes v Harwood , to have a cause of action in negligence, there must be the neglect of some duty owed to the claimant. Accordingly, Geoff s legal duty of care is established through s.3 Road Traffic Act 1988, which, in imposing strict liability in cases of negligent driving, creates a duty of care. It provides that a driver is deemed to have committed a tortuous act by driving carelessly without due care and attention , therefore as Geoff is driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, he has a statutory duty of care towards other road users. There then arises the question as to whether Geoff s behaviour has fallen below the reasonable standard of care . This is based on the premise that liability arises where the defendant causes loss or damage to another by fault . Paul could thus attest the first two hurdles in bringing a negligence action against Geoff, as Geoff has clearly breached his statutory duty of
