Writing An Explanatory Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "Writing An Explanatory Essay" is a challenging endeavor
that demands a nuanced understanding of both the subject matter and the art of essay
composition. The difficulty lies in the delicate balance between providing clear explanations and
maintaining a compelling narrative flow.
To start, one must delve into the fundamentals of explanatory writing, dissecting the nuances of
elucidating complex ideas without veering into verbosity. This involves not only a thorough
comprehension of the chosen topic but also a keen awareness of the target audience's level of
understanding. Striking this equilibrium is akin to walking a tightrope, requiring a writer to
navigate between the cliffs of oversimplification and the abyss of jargon.
Furthermore, the task involves the careful selection and organization of information. Deciding
what to include and what to omit demands a discerning eye for relevance and a mastery of the
art of synthesis. The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent narrative but also in ensuring
that each piece of information serves a purpose, contributing meaningfully to the overall clarity
of the exposition.
The structural intricacies of essay writing further compound the difficulty. Crafting a compelling
introduction that captivates the reader, developing a well-organized body that presents
information logically, and delivering a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression—all while
maintaining a seamless flow—are tasks that require finesse and a deep understanding of
rhetorical strategies.
Additionally, the challenge extends to the revision process. Revisiting one's work with a critical
eye, refining the language, and honing the clarity of explanations demand both time and a
willingness to engage in the sometimes arduous task of self-editing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Writing An Explanatory Essay" is a formidable task that
demands a multifaceted skill set. It involves navigating the delicate balance between clarity and
complexity, making judicious choices in information selection, and mastering the art of essay
composition. The difficulty is not merely in putting words on paper but in sculpting a piece that
seamlessly conveys complex ideas to a diverse audience.
For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays and a plethora of writing

Application Software
Application software products do not control how the system works. They are
designed to provide a service or a function to satisfy common and specific needs
across industries. They allow computers perform daily tasks such as word processing,
emailing, searching on the Web, etc.; and can be classified as: horizontal market
aplication software and vertical market application software.
Application software can be both, one program alone such as WordPerfect to edit
and create documets or a group of programs, also called as software package, which
are in connection which each other to perform assigned tasks. Microsoft Office. is
an example of a package software.
Some Characteristics of application software include:
Design is not too complicated.
User friendly.
Easy to understand and use.
More interactive.
Horizontal Market Software
Also known as productivity software, is used in not only one but many industries. It
is generalized and does not provide specific features for specific industries. These
programs can be used by either businesses, students or others to perform the same
functions and activities. Examples of horizontal market software include spreadsheet
applications, web browsers, and word processors, among others.
Spreadsheet Applications
Spreadsheet applications are computer programs that provide you with the tools to

Sam Houston Research Paper
Sam Houston, one of the most illustrious political figures of Texas, but that is not
all he was. Along with politics he excelled in being a business man, the study of law,
a solider to the Texas army, and a family man. But how could a single man play such
a significant role in the building foundations to the state of Texas? Starting with the
basics of who this man is and where he came from can serve as a guide as to why
he did the heroic things he did. He was a vital part in shaping not only Texas but
the young and prosperous country. Born on March 2, 1793, Sam had been the fifth
child and fifth son to his father Samuel Houston and mother Elizabeth (Paxton)
Houston. Along with his five brothers, he also had three sisters. The family resided
on a small plantation in Rockbridge County, Virginia ( ). At a young age of just 13
his father died and was forced to emigrate with his mother and eight siblings to Blount
County in Eastern Tennessee where they established a farm near Maryville. It was

At the age of seventeen he returned home to his family for a short while, then
returned back to the Cherokees where he was adopted by Chief Oolooteka and
given the name Colonneh, or The Raven ( ). Two years later, Sam Houston was
almost twenty years of age and had returned to Maryville, Tennessee and opened a
successful private school to help repay his debts. On his twentieth birthday however,
Houston received word about the war break out with the British. He enlisted that day
with the United States Army as a private. It was not long after, even within the year
of his service, he was promoted to Third Lieutenant to the 39th Infantry Regiment
where he received near fatal wounds in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (lib u tex).
Houston eventually resigned from the army in 1818 so he could start his practice in
Analysis Of The Story Sunday On The Park
Similar to how a postcard would depict a perfect family enjoying an evening at a
park, so does Bel Kaufman, depict a seemingly well adjusted family in her short
story entitled Sunday in the Park. The story is a near perfect representation of a
family spending quality time together in an idyllic location, as each familymember
tries to relax on a Sunday. As the day slowly progresses, the setting of the park
gradually reflects the true imbalance of the family unit, showing week family bonds.
Due to lack of cohesiveness of the characters, which is seen through their inability to
communicate effectively with one another, the characters expose themselves as being
truly disconnected people. This problem is further depicted through the introduction
of a stimulus in the form of a bully, who pushes the family away from their comfort
zone of logic, into an uncomfortable place of emotionand physical action. Kaufman
plainly expresses that using logic as a means to maintain strong family bonds is
utterly outweighed by a family who continues to communicate on an emotional level.
Through the use of an idyllic setting such as a park, Kauffman is able to magnify
flaws within the family, which ordinarily would not be seen. Kauffman uses aspects
of setting and words to draw in feelings of sadness and emotional disconnect within
the family:
It was still in the late afternoon sun, and the city noises came muffled through the
trees in the park. She put her book down on the bench, removed

strained in its correspondence to the Bible (1 Cor 12:30), church history, or
contemporary experience of the various collection of Christ. Dunning s representation
of a quiet man who came to faith in his service was extremely convincing too. Could
this man who couldn t talk get the Pentecostal submersion of the Holy Spiritas prove
by tongues as characterized by Horton? This point was well taken. General I was
empowered by the evangelist endeavors of the Pentecostals, the stories of the work
of the Spirit in the lives of individuals in different customs, and their strong
observer for Christ. Nevertheless, I was altogether unconvinced by the convention
of subsequence confirm at first and solely by talking in tongues. Pentecostals
believes that receiving of Holy Spirit is only done by looking up to Jesus.
Sometimes it happens without even seeking the experience as it happened in the
romans at the Cornelius house. I agree with what Horton says about receiving the
Holy Spirit as growing up in India I have seen a lot of people receive the gifts
faster than usual. But I am glad that Horton recognizes when he says, All the gifts
of God is by grace through faith, and that faith included obedience, must be based
on God s written word, and must be faith in God. We need to ask than we will
receive as the word says that. Even in bible we will see people were waiting and
asking in expectation as they have heard John the baptism proclaim that right now
they are being baptized by
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ohv Vs Side Valve
Engine
Overhead Valve Engine (OHV) VS Side Valve Engine
There are mainly two types of engines that you may see in lawn mowers side valve
and overhead valve engine. As per the research, the Overhead Valve Engine is
more durable as compare to Side Valve Engine. It is seen that Older mowers that
have Overhead Valve Engine give lesser problems because its design is more
efficient and it is more environment friendly. It uses less gas and less carbon build up
that helps prevent the wear down of the engine. The OHV engines are also quieter.
There are mainly two famous engine manufacturers: Honda and Briggs Stratton.
Honda engines manufacture OHV for quite a long time, whereas the Briggs Stratton
makes both OHV and Side Valve Engines. Honda engines are less noisy and reliable
which make them better as compare to others but Honda engines are a bit expensive.

The corded mowers are lighter in weight since they don t require any battery. As
long as the cord is plugged into the power socket you don t have to worry about the
electric power issues, unlike the cordless mowers in which you need to check if the
mower is fully charged before using it.
Cons OF Corded Lawn Mower
The corded lawn mower has some limitations like it is required to be plugged in all
time while you are mowing, it gets really annoying when you want to mow around
the tree area or any similar obstacle and you definitely don t want the cord to get
entangled around the tree while you are mowing.
Cordless Lawn Mower
A Cordless Lawn Mower is one that runs on battery and does not require any cables
or cords to be plugged in to run the mower. It comes with lithium batteries which are
required to be charged before you mow your lawn. Let s go through some pros and
cons of the cordless lawn mower.

A Research Study On Human Genetics
While some outside of the university setting think researchers within academia do not
work, that could not be farther from the truth. After following Ryan Hernandez, PhD,
weekly duties, we saw that his responsibilities are anything but few.
From family man to professor to researcher, he somehow manages to lead his
laboratory of seven people in their study of genetic variation. He also takes on
additional tasks that are outside his job responsibilities, like serving on several
committees.

By understanding what has been done and the holes in our knowledge, we can make
steps to identify ways to fill in those gaps.
The rest of Hernandez s week is filled with joint lab meetings with two other labs that
have similar lines of research that feature a presentation of one researcher s work
and a discussion of possible next steps. These meetings take place on Mondays and
last 1.5 hours. Additionally, each year Hernandez teaches for one quarter. This year
he is teaching during the winter quarter and is in the classroom for twice a week, for
a total of three hours per week.
The most enjoyable part of teaching is interacting with students, Hernandez said. I
also mentor some students and post doctoral researchers by helping them develop
scientific maturity in their career development.
Two of the past students that Hernandez taught have completed their PhD s. One now
works in the industry for a startup, and the other is completing their post doctoral
fellowship at Stanford University.
Hernandez is also graduate advisor for the Biological and Medical Informatics
Graduate Program (BMI) and a co primary investigator for the Initiative for
Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) Grant.
The IMSD Grant is an initiative for maximizing student development through a

The Labyrinths In The Borgesian World
Labyrinths in the Borgesian World.A labyrinth can be defined as a structure
consisting of a number of intercommunicating passages arranged in bewildering
complexity, through which it is difficult or impossible to find one s way without
guidance . The life of Jorge Luis Borges was one filled with labyrinths. At an early
age, Borges was haunted by these mysterious things that filled his childhood, with his
first encounters coming from his father s massive library. He once said in an
interview that he found an engraving of the seven wonders of the world, one of
which that portrayed a circular labyrinth ; this frightened him dearly. From his
childhood to his writings, these inhumane feats filled his life with nightmares. He
questioned their existence and wondered what the truth was behind them. Have you...

Essay on A Fictional Account of Early Iceland
A Fictional Account of Early Iceland
The origin and evolution of saga writing in Iceland are largely matters for
speculation. A common pastime on Icelandic farms, from the 12th century down to
modern times, was the reading aloud of stories to entertain the household, known as
sagnaskemmtun ( saga entertainment ). It seems to have replaced the traditional art
of storytelling (Hermann Palsson, pg. 1). Njal s Saga uses Old Icelandic writing
convention and historical data to give a fictional account of a generation s lifestyle
and struggles.
Icelandic literature has become very valuable because historians have realized the
great amount of truth that can be found in each saga. According to one historian, the
sagas have proven to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1). Animal products provided the mainstay of the Icelandic diet. An emphasis on
dairy cattle and sheep meant that lamb and beef and dairy products such as cheese
and whey were relatively plentiful, especially following good seasons (Gary Martin,
pg. 2)
Despite the abundance of food, as more settlers came, the resources were slowly
depleted:
The following episode from Grettir s Saga is likely to have been typical: as soon
as Eirik knew that Onund had arrived he offered to give him anything he wanted,
and added that there was not much land still unclaimed. Onund said he would like
first to see what land was available. So they went south across the fjords, and when
they reached Ofaera, Eirik said, Now you can have a look at it. From here on the
land is unclaimed up to Bjorn s settlement. (Gary Martin, p.2). Clearly this famine
was a historical, recorded event since there are also reports of a shortage of foodstuffs
in Njal s Saga. This was a time of great famine in Iceland, and all over the country
people were going short of hay and food (Njal s Saga, Ch. 47). So it is clear that Njal
s Saga includes some factual information, yet still remains a fictional narrative.
Instead of creating a form of law enforcement, the Icelanders usually took matters
into their own hands. This is can be seen in the many killings that occur in Njal s
Saga. The Icelandic people had developed a feud system,

Cosimo De Medici s Influence On Florence
The Medici family earned their status by commerce rather than warfare, marriage or
inheritance, and they were the first princely dynasty to do so. Cosimo de Medici
never held office, but ran Florence through his wealth and strategic mind from 1434
1537. He played a large part in the patronage of the arts and the political development
of the city. His patronage allowed men to achieve such impressive architecture.
Brunelleschi, for example, who restored the church at San Lorenzo. Cosimo centered
the city around cultural and creative achievements. He allowed Florenceto enter the
age of the Renaissance by proving himself and his policies to the people, and making
the citizens of Florence proud.
Cosimo de Medici was born on September 27, 1389 in the city of Florence, Italy.
He was also known as Cosimo the Elder, Cosimo il Vecchio (Italian), and Pater
Patriae (Latin), meaning Father of his country (Encyclopedia Britannica Online).

industry would be at a peak in its involvement within society. The TV had channels

as a general warning to parents and various other authority figures about the music

creates the false fear that the article creates. Other deterrents such as the title of the
article are present, Music s Deadly influence , this creates a negative and fearsome
light for the issue before the consumer has even read it. The issue does not halt at
music according to the article, which makes the article broaden its scope. It
implicates the media in a very negative connotation, stating that visual media is in the
mix of this deadly influence , and creates a cause and effect relationship between
media violence and real life violence . This factor contributes to the encompassing
nature that the article brings to the problem in the CWA s article. Throughout the
article there are the previously mentioned highlights of the document, and the
highlights include assumptions made about the connection of youth to violence, and
the connections disregarded in order to strengthen their claims. Some of the points
include a fact from a Dr. Joseph Steussy, who is a credited professor of music
history, who confirm[ed] that music affects behavior, psychologically and
physiologically . This is a general statement, which is a fact, but misused in its
context and certain other factors are overlooked. Music is a type of stimulus, which
does affect youth. However comparing music and
Essay about Juvenile Recidivism
Introduction: Recidivism or, habitual relapses into crime, has time and time again
proven to be an issue among delinquents, which thereby increases the overall juvenile
prison population. This issue has become more prevalent than what we realize.
Unless a unit for measuring a juvenile s risk of recidivism is enacted and used to
determine a system to promote effective prevention, than the juvenile prison
population will continue to increase. Our court system should not only focus on
punishing the said juvenile but also enforce a program or policy that will allow for
prevention of recidivism. So the question remains, how can recidivism in the juvenile
prison population be prevented so that it is no longer the central cause for increased...

Not only this but, offenders who commit new offenses after court contact are at risk
for a variety of poor developmental and life course outcomes, including school failure,
out of home placements, occupational marginality, and long term involvement in
criminal activity (Schwalbe 2004). As seen here, this is a downward spiral. Active
reform has never before been at such a demand. As recidivism and juvenile
delinquency continues to increase, not only will national crime rates and juvenile
prison populations inflate, but the diminishing of an educated, safe, and economically
stable society will also be affected regrettably. If juveniles whom continue to commit
repeat criminal offenses lack school initiative, family support, and job exposure, than
relatively as recidivism and juvenile criminal activity increases, our nation s standard
of living will consequently lower.
For those who are simply interested in the costs, it may be fairly surprising. It is a
common and misconceived ideal that incarceration is a cheap and easy way to
contain criminals, in this case juveniles. However, due to the fact that the
incarceration itself has not in any way hindered criminal activity rates or decreased
juvenile recidivism, taxpayers are simply investing more money into these detention
facilities and court proceedings than what is realized. Let s look at a specific
detention facility for example. The Cook

Internal Auditing in an Organization and Its Effects on...
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Back ground of the study.
An audit is the examination and checking of financial statements by a professional
auditor or accountant who has had no part in its preparation. The process involves an
examination of the evidence from which the final revenue accounts and balance
sheet, or other statements of an organization have been prepared, in order to ascertain
that they present a true reflection of the summarized transactions for the period under
review and of the financial state of the organization at the end date, so enabling the
auditor to report thereon. The objective of the ordinary audit of financial statements
by the independent auditor is the expression of an opinion as to the fairness with

Auditor s business and professional futures depend on integrating attest services with,
the information user s demand and delivery systems they can use. This integration
will involve developing attest services to deal with 1) relevance as well as reliability
2) non financial information as well as traditional financial statements 3) electronic
databases as well as printed financial reports. Traditional attest functions have
therefore expanded resulting in an equally expanded assurance function to involve the
expression of written or oral conclusions on the reliability and / or information
systems.
We can summarize the main objectives of auditing therefore as: 1. The confirmation
of the accuracy of accounts and statements 2. Detection of errors and frauds. 3.
Prevention of errors and frauds.
However, to qualify as an auditor, one must be a member of the institute of Chartered
Accountants as defined under the Chartered Accountants Act 1963 (170) and must
not have been disqualified from acting as an auditor by any legislative instrument by
the registrar. An auditor, therefore, is a person who reports on the accounts of an
organization or enterprise. Nevertheless; there are two types of audit, namely Internal
and External audit. But for the purpose of our study; we would want to concentrate
much on internal audit.

Analysis of Daystar by Rita Dove Essay
While reading the poem Daystar, written by Rita Dove, its readers most likely do
not ask thought provoking questions like Why did Dove write this? or What is the
true meaning behind this poem? but the poem has deeper meaning than what its
outside layer portrays. Dove, an African American woman born in 1952, has not
only viewed the racism of the United States society, but she has also seen how
gender can or cannot play a role in the advancement of a person s life (Rita Dove: The
PoetryFoundation). The poem Daystar not only takes an outside perspective on the
everyday life of a woman, but it closely relates to Dove s family history. Dove uses
the experiences of her life as a woman, and the knowledge gained from living in
countries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daystar comes from a book of poems written by Dove entitled Thomas and Beulah,
which tells both the real and unreal stories of Dove s maternal grandparents (Stein
64). Unlike Dove, who grew up during a time of women s rights, her grandmother
most likely did not have an admired career as a housewife. In discussing Thomas
and Beulah, Stein explains, It is almost painful to witness Thomas and Beulah, two
people clearly devoted to each other, continually misinterpret each other s behavior
(70). Although Daystar is not necessarily written from an autobiographical
perspective, Dove is using the research of her family and her own experiences to
welcome us into the lives of the distressed Beulah. Beyond the already mentioned
first line about how Beulah wanted a little room for thinking (1), there are many
other evidences in the poem that prove this woman desires more than what she
currently has. Even today, women are viewed as the main caretakers of their
children and the ones who are expected to respond to the domestic duties at home,
and this is what Beulah exemplifies. In the next lines of Daystar, obligations of
motherhood are further explained as Dove writes, but she saw diapers steaming on
the line, /a doll slumped behind the door (2 3). Both the diapers and the doll imply
that it is Beulah s job to take care of the laundry and clean up the mess that her
children have left behind. Furthermore, the
Spanish Revival Home Analysis
I just got back from sunny Mexico, so, in appreciation, this week I would like to
feature some of the Spanish Revival kit houses.
Spanish Revival architecture was most popular between 1915 and 1931. The Spanish
craze swept the country and you can find examples of these residences in every state.
A 1928 advertisement from the California Stucco Company characterized this
building trend: Over the whole country Spanish architecture has cast its spell.
The kit house companies joined the fray and added a few models with Spanish
flavor. Spanish Revival homes typically had very expensive design elements such as
terra cotta, tile roofs, towers, and quatrefoil windows. Obviously, the kit house
companies wanted to keep costs low and could not include ... Show more content on

The roofline on the left side could be raised higher than the one shown in the catalog

Many Spanish style houses, like the Del Rey, were one story and featured a low
profile.
The biggest Spanish seller for Sears was the Sears Alhambra. zxc zxcz

Essay On The Last Lecture By Randy Pausch
The Last Lecture is a book that is filled with worthwhile life lessons. Written by
Randy Pausch, this novel is his Last Lecture as a computer science professor at
Carnegie Mellon. Diagnosed with terminal cancer and given only a few months to
live, Pausch truly took this opportunity to share his thoughts and what he has
learned throughout life. As James Bryce suggests, The worth of a book is to be
measured by what you can carry away from it . Personally, I found the book
extremely rewarding and was able to take away that childhood dreams can come true,
and to not give up when a challenge presents itself. Most importantly, I learned to not
become arrogant and to stay humble.
Everyone has had childhood dreams. Whether it be the ability to fly, to become a
millionaire, or anything in between, these aspirations guide us through life. Randy
Pausch, as a child had dreamed of being in zero gravity, playing in the NFL,
authoring an article in the world encyclopedia, being Captain Kirk, winning stuffed
animals, and becoming a Disney Imagineer. Throughout his life, Randy had
accomplished all of them to at least some degree. For instance, Randy never became

him on a walk and said Randy, it s such a shame that people perceive you as being so
arrogant, because it s going to limit what you re going to be able to accomplish in
life. Like Randy, I learned that people who are smart, but not arrogant, will go the

How Does Hippocrates Affect The World Today
Hippocrates affecting the world today Hippocrates is a very significant figure in the
history of medicine that is still helping our society today. Hippocrates is known for
the oath which physicians still use today. His ideas have also greatly improved and
advanced medicine to help other. Also, his research of the four humours in the
classics period helped other physicians further explore the cures for sickness/diseases.
Hippocrateslived 460 377 BCE, during the Golden Age, (Lawerence, Hippocratic

one single thing he is known for because he has done so much. The Hippocratic Oath
is extremely important because doctors today still use it every day in hospitals

Allowing for inflation and taxation
Allowing for inflation
As the inflation rate increases so will the minimum return required by an investor
The nominal interest rate incorporates inflation.
When the nominal rate of interest gt; rate of inflation = positive real rate.
When the rate of inflation gt; nominal rate of interest = negative real rate.
The relationship between real and nominal rates of interest is given by the Fisher
formula:
1.2 Do we use the real rate or the nominal rate?
The rule is as follows. a) If cash flows expressed actual number of dollars that will be
received/paid on the various future dates, we use the nominal rate for discounting. b)

Inflation may be general, affecting prices of all kinds, or specific to particular prices.
Generalised inflation has the following effects.
a) Capital Since non current assets/stocks will increase in money value, the same
quantities of assets must be financed by increasing amounts of capital. b) Demand
Inflation means higher costs and higher selling prices. The effect of higher prices
on demand may not be easy to predict. A company that raises its prices by 10%
because the general rate of inflation is running at 10% might suffer a serious fall in
demand. c) Gearing/COC Inflation, because it affects financing needs, is also likely
to affect gearing, and so the cost of capital.
2 Allowing for taxation
Taxation is a major practical consideration for businesses. It is vital to take it into
account in making decisions.
Assumptions which may be stated in questions are as follows.
a) Tax is payable in the year following the one in which the taxable profits are made.
b) Net cash flows from a project should be considered as the taxable profits (not just
the taxable revenues) arising from the project (unless an indication is given to the
contrary).
2.1 Tax allowable depreciation
Tax allowable depreciation (capital allowances) is used to reduce taxable profits, and

Legacy of Christopher Columbus
The Legacy of Christopher Columbus
Abstract
After many centuries, a lot of controversy still surrounds Christopher Columbus.
He remains to be a strange figure in history regarded as a famous explorer and a
great mariner who made many discoveries in his days. Other people still regard
him as a visionary and a national hero while others chose to remember him as a
brutal and greedy person who used the rest of the humanity for his own selfish gains.
Despite the fact that there have been protests in his being honored through a holiday
referred to as the Columbus Day, he still deserves recognition and acknowledgement
as a historical figure performed a great role in the making of the modern world. 1.0

Several cities in the United States of America including Berkeley, South Dakota and
Hawaii have also replaced the day with other alternatives to celebrate. Cities in
American that still recognize and celebrate the day parade street shows that feature
street dances, Italian food and other activities that teach about the Native American
culture.
The arrival of Columbus in 1492 has been viewed with mixed feelings with others
believing the day should be viewed as an occasion for mourning. Some activists
advocate for the day to be replaced with a day for ethnic diversity. The belief that he
discovered America is not to say that he was the first to set his eyes on America, it
meant that he opened up America to new opportunities. This was by bringing
America to the attention of the New World by bringing the civilization of Western
Europe to its residents. It was the discoveries of Columbus that led to an interaction
of ideas and people and different cultures that made America what it is today.
3.0The Columbus Controversy
The famous explorer has been regarded as a hero only for his achievements and
accomplishments only for them to be darkened by his crimes of genocide, slavery
and rape thus the controversy arises as to how he should be remembered . In his
quest to find riches and conquer new lands, Columbus encountered many native
people who he treated as
Descriptive Essay About My Summer Vacation
It was a beautiful day to try something new at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point,
California. It was a long year in fourth grade, and my family and I were excited to
start our summer vacation. As we pulled our trailer on the southbound I 5 freeway
towards San Diego, I could see the temperature gauge on my father s truck slowly
dropping to the mid 70 s. We were in a packed car with my father, mother, older
brother, younger sister, snacks and drinks everywhere, and me, entranced by the
game on my brand new iPod that I recently received on my birthday. I had gone on
camping trips my whole life so I was thrilled to go to a new beach and campground,
but I was bewildered when we pulled into a Costco parking lot. I asked my father,

the tools we needed: a quarter to fit the extremely large flathead hole on the top of
the fins, a knife to cut the leash to the desired length, and a black Sharpie to write
our names on it. After we had finished, my father came to inspect our work. He
concluded his inspection by placing the surfboard in the back of the truck, implying
that we were successful and that it would be ready for tomorrow. I was entranced by
the thought of surfing, I dreamt all night about monstrous waves like in the movies,
and gliding along side dolphins as they played in the ocean. That morning I woke
up like it was Christmas, early, energized, curious, and excited. In preparation, I
put on my swimsuit and practiced paddling and popping up on my skateboard as I
rode around the campground at seven o clock in the morning. It seemed like
forever until my family woke up and was finally ready to go to the beach. Luckily,
Mason and I only had to walk a total of 200 meters to get the board into the water;
unfortunately, half of the trek was through soft sand, and took over five minutes.
Eventually, we were ready to make our first surfing memories. Mason was elected to
go first since he was older and it was his present. My father waded into the water and

Supercharged Bike Engine and Its Simulation
Supercharger
The process of supercharging is to increase the increase the amount of air intake in
an engine by making use of a compressor. This compressor is also called a
supercharger. A supercharger works by increasing the pressure or density of air
supplied to an engine, which allows for burning of more fuel per cycle by the engine
because of the increased oxygen with the increased amount of air being supplied to
the engine.
The compressor takes in the air from the atmosphere at atmospheric pressure, and if
the carburetor is connected upstream then the mixture of fuel. It rapidly accelerates
this mixture or air which causes adiabatic compression in the inlet manifold. We have
connected the carburetor after the compressor. As the inlet valve opens, the pressure
built rams the charge inside the combustion chamber. Figure 1: Supercharging an
Engine
According to the method of gas transfer superchargers can be divided into the
following two categories:
1.Positive Displacement: These are the type in which the air pressure delivered is
independent of the engine speed. These deliver a constant pressure. Examples: Roots
type, Lysholm Twin Screw, Sliding Vane, and Scroll Type Supercharger
.
2.Dynamic Compressors: These compressors do not deliver any pressure below a
certain threshold engine speed. Examples: Multi Stage Axial Flow, Centrifugal.

For our purpose we used a centrifugal type air compressor which is driven by an
The Importance Of Religion And Superstition
Sometimes the question about spirituality, and why people believe in it swarms
around the minds of today s society. It never occurred to me about the importance
of why people believed in religion or superstition until I entered high school.
Growing up Catholic, it felt like a routine to attend mass every Friday and Sunday
because that was what everyone I knew did. I was never that interested in any beliefof
God, let alone any interest in superstition. I always thought that my religious beliefs
tied to my cultural background. Growing up as a second generation of Filipino
heritage, life without Christ was looked upon as unbearable, and less motivating to
do things in life. It is as if Filipinos needed to breathe with the motivation of God,
and become heavily influenced by applying Catholicism to its culture. However, the
question about why people believe in religionand superstition is still a mystery to this
day. I conducted an interview with a good friend of mine named Andrei. Andrei
values humbleness, and during my interview with him, he reminisces about the times
when he was a little boy, he and his grandmother would constantly go to the Christian
Orthodox Church to pray. When I came to the question about what he thought about
the idea of the significance of religion as well as superstition, he answered, Whatever
you believe in comes from within yourself. (Vlad. Personal Interview. 19 September
2017). In some ways, I think that Andrei truly did have a
Analysis Of Anti-Intellectualism Why We Hate The Smart...
In Grant Penrod s Anti Intellectualism: Why We Hate the Smart Kids essay, he argues
that academic achievements should be acknowledged equally just as an athletic
achievement. Smart kids do not receive the acknowledgment that they deserve since
society has a negative look regarding smart kids. Anti Intellectualism is hostile
feelings towards intellectuals or intellectual thoughts. Society tends to celebrate non
intellectuals. The essay talks about smart kids being labeled social outcasts for the
reason that average kids have separated themselves from kids smarter than them.
Smart kids feel as if they should retain their intelligence just to fit in a judgmental
world. Penrod s argument is effective because his topic is still relevant to today s
time and his use of examples that he incorporated throughout the essay.... Show more

Penrod says, The result of anti intellectualism is a crushing disregard for the lives
and achievements of fellow human beings (Penrod 755). He is saying that through
these anti intellectual practices, non intellectuals seem to make sure to actively
dismiss and disparage other individual s successes. Instead of intellectuals being
seen in a positive light, there is a disfavor for intellectuals that have become an
enormous part of society. Through Penrod s examination, he uses pathos to draw his
audience in to feel pity for the intellectuals. He makes the non intellectuals seem as if
they are bullies picking on the little guy. Penrod does this because he knows people
will sympathize for the little guy. This makes his argument effective because people
will stand up and defend the little guys, the

I then submitted my final draft to iNet. My topic for my research paper was
technology s impact on today s society. I talked about the positive and negative
impacts technology has on our society everyday and I was able to give evidence of
my ideas with information I found when researching. I explained that technology
has helped with finding new ways to teach students including those with
disabilities and how it has helped to advance the health and medicinal field. I also
explained some downsides such as the addiction and absence of face to face
interaction that come along with technology. Each of my assignments for this class
included revising and editing at the attempt to hand in the best possible work. I
made sure I read over my work before handing it in to assure that there were little to
no grammatical or spelling errors. My biggest struggle in this area was working on
transitions and organization throughout my assignments to make sure my paper
flowed better as a whole.

Forced Vibration Clauses Analysis
A majority of the for profit schools using federal aid in our sample (93 of 158
institutions) include forced arbitration clauses in their contracts, but those schools
enroll a much larger proportion of students from the sample of federally funded for
profit schools (98 percent).4 Of the forty nine for profit schools not using federal aid,
only one schoolused a forced arbitration clause. Below are three examples of how
forced arbitration clauses appear in the enrollment contracts that students are asked to
sign. For Kaplan University, the clause is a single sentence in the signature block, on
the second page within the enrollment contract. South University includes multiple

Specifically, Illinois includes a provision in its communications with vocational
schools that discourages the use of these clauses, potentially suppressing the usage
rate of go it alone clauses among for profit schools receiving federal aid. Still, the
percentage of students enrolled within these schools (63 percent) far exceeds the
percentage of institutions using such clauses (22 percent) in our sample.
Go it alone clauses are usually included within an arbitration clause. As shown below,
Midwest Technical Institute includes a section within its enrollment contract
specifying that any complainant cannot be part of a class action, or bring claims
consolidated with other individuals. Cortiva Institute simply states that any issue will
be resolved through individual, binding arbitration, a clarification that, as discussed

Sustainable Solutions and Dell Computers In this tech driven world, computers, and
electronics are the common denominators. Millions of people use computers and
electronic devices multiple times every day. Between innovation and use, the need
to replace these devices is paramount and creates a solid market for certain electronic
manufacturers. One of the biggest environmental concerns is toxic waste and plastics
in landfills. A report about e waste on the Greenpeace website states that more than
4.6 million [tons] of e waste ended up in landfills in the United States in 2000. Toxic

In the last portion of the paper, various complexity analysis tools are examined in
relation to Dell and the computer/technology industry. The industry was examined in
terms for the Fitness Landscape, Boid Analysis, Industry Evolution Modeling, and
Life Cycle Analysis. Examining Dell in the context of multiple frameworks granted
insights into key factors such as material inputs, resource depletion, byproducts,
waste and disposal options and stakeholder versus societal obligations and
responsibilities. An analysis of the Sustainable Value Framework, including a detailed
analysis of the sustainable value of Dell and its products and services rounds out the
research.
Key Take aways
One critical factor repeatedly presented itself throughout this research project and that
is the absolute necessity for Dell to find a way to innovate in a sustainable manner.
Having Chairman Michael Dell at the helm again is beneficial to the growth and
cohesive vision of the firm, but Dell is losing ground to rivals such as HP in the
areas of technological advances and sales. Another key take away is that Dell leaders
must invest in the training and re educating of employees and invest in the research
and development of products in collaboration with the firm s key suppliers in its
network. Critical to the success

Compare And Contrast Sumer And Babylon
Impact of Fertile Cresent Cultures
Sumer and Babylon
Both, the people that belonged to Sumer(Sumerians) and Babylon (Babylonians) were
part of the early/ancient Mesopotamian civilizations; however since Sumer was the
first civilization on record in Mesopotamia and started off much more early than the
Babylonian civilization, it couldn t have adapted anything that the Babylonian
civilization created. However the other way around. Babylonians did adapt some
things about the Sumerians and had some similarities in their culture, but they still
stayed original in their way.
First off, the Babylon empire was much more expanded, bigger, than Sumer due to the
Babylonian ruler, Hammurabi, who is famous for his ruling and Hammurabi s code;

Another governmental similarity would be that they both consisted of a lot of city
states in Mesopotamia.
Both civilizations fell apart but made a comeback which led to eventual downfall
again. Sumer s destruction was caused by the extreme drought, which as we know,
left salt deposits that destroyed the crops in Sumer, after that, it got conquered by the
Akkadians. Time later, Sumerians made a comeback, taking back their Land,
expelling the invaders, but that did not last long since Amorites came and invaded
the region.
A similar thing happened to the Babylon empire, it was invaded/conquered by the
Kassites in 1595, staying in power for 400 years but then got overcome by the
Assyrians. The Babylon Empire, Neo Babylonian empire then rose back to power
in 626 BC, led by the son of King Nabopolassar, Nebuchadnezzar II, he was
responsible for leading the built of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Unfortunately,
it did not take long for the Neo Babylonian empire to fall after Nebuchadnezzar II

Impact Of Green Supply Chain Management On Industry,...
This paper investigates the impact of green supply chain management on industry,
consumer perception and environment. Through research into multiple companies
and case studies, a distorted perception among large corporations shows a historic
struggle to find a balance between profit and sustainability. However, the potential
long term effects of the lack of environmental courtesy cannot be undone and
therefore must be carefully engineered. Multi billion dollar automotive corporations
such as Hyundai and Toyota will be discussed and studied in depth to conclude the
innovative changes contributed in the automotive industryresulting in maximum
efficiency in lean and green production. Additionally, while studying these companies,
the overall question of whether intentional sustainable practices provide increased
customer satisfaction and comfort is answered through a survey given to 100 random
people. In this small sample, it was found that 33% of consumers care about green
business practices in automotive production but only 8% saw an increase in value
because of it. Keywords: green supply chain, automotive sustainability, global impact
Green Supply Chain Management
In Efficient Business Practices
The automotive industry changed the way that Americans purchased products when
cars became an affordable luxury in the early 19th century. Not only did cars

Going Public With Your Reasoning
Question 1: Think of a topic or issue or situation that you find very upsetting or
frustrating. Do a little ranting on that issue. That is, write some very strong and
emotional statements about this issue or situation. You might begin with One thing

And donation made by large institutions are often intended to save tax. Even the
cigarette companies, labelling how harmful they are to us, while marketing their
product globally, are they not being double standard? Are they really helping people,
and the environment, regardless of whatever development campaign they follow?
Double standard has itself become quite a problematic aspect to live with on this
Earth compared to any other. Originality has lost its power.
Question 2: Now imagine that you need to go public with your feelings and opinions
and convince someone else to share at least some of the intensity you feel about this
issue. Is there anything in your ranting that you might convert into an argument, a
line of reasoning that another person might find legitimate?
Read and discuss your sentences with a classmate. Talk about why you feel that some
of your statements are not good raw material for public reasoning but others might be.
I would now like to make this feelings toward double standards public. It will be a
lot difficult to have it expressed via someone else now because the other person may
have a different opinion about the matters, which were purely my feelings about this
matter.
One may argue about the fact that people have grown to have a double standard
because they have been faced with the harsh reality of

His nails dug into the brown leather chair, he began to grind his teeth while his toes
curl in black shined shoes as he tries to contain his insulting words. This task
seeming almost impossible, Draven felt as if this man spoke another word about
his cheating wife he might as well kill him here and now. Draven stood up in the
middle of his strangers tangent and smiled impatiently Thank you Nick for coming
to see me today but that s all the time we have, if you talk to Stacy I m sure she can
set up another appointment for next week . Nick stood up embarrassed and nodded
slightly Oh I am sorry I did not realize the time, but for now, what do you think I
should do? Draven sighed softly Stay with her, you think you re a perfect husband?...

As Draven walks up the stairs on the third floor, he sees his apartment door is
already open slightly. He knows he locked it and shut it like he does everyday
before work, but then how was it open now? He never told anyone where he lived,
he never gave a key to anyone. Draven slowly walked up to his red door with the
old rusted copper 213, confirming this was his home. Draven slowly opened the
door, it was dark and very cold, he turned on his light quickly. He took a jump back
and let out a light gasp, analyzing the room, he sees pictures of dead people
everywhere. On the walls, hanging across his living room on a thin white strings,
Draven slowly walks around and examines which is now a destroyed living room.
He exams the pictures and in a slow instant horror he realizes he knows every
person in the pictures. His clients, they where all his clients from years ago some
that he counseled outside the united states. Draven ripped down all the pictures and
tore the string down, he yelled in anger and frustration. How could this happen?
Why now? Draven exclaimed out loud, his fury grew and grew the more his mind
circled on these thoughts. A loud door shutting from the back of his apartment took
him out of his rage for a second, he realized it was his bathroom door. The person
was still there, suddenly all his rage returned as he charged down his white hallway,
he banged on the bathroom door with all his strength. The bathroom door shook in

economy by working as driving force in the market. Many young entrepreneurs are
coming forward and setting up their ventures in different parts of India. These
initiatives are opening the way for plenty of jobs for the young jobseekers which is
prime necessity for the development of any economy like India. (Quote this by

Effect of Rising Oil Prices on Indian Economy
A rise in global oil prices by $ 10 per barrel would reduce India s economic growth by
0.2 percentage points and also affect the country s current account deficit, Goldman
Sach said.
A VAR (value at risk) analysis suggests that a $ 10 increase in oil would reduce
GDP growth by 0.2 percentage point, Goldman Sachs said in its latest edition of Asia
Economics Analyst .
India on Monday voiced serious concern over the rising crude oil prices, which have
touched a two year high, and said it could badly affect global economic growth and
even give rise to inflationary pressures.
The current oil prices will spur global inflation and retard economic growth. India

In this background, I found it reassuring to come across opinions from two unrelated
quarters questioning the connection.
CONFIDENT ASSERTION
There is first the confident assertion of the Chairman and Managing Director of
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Mr R. S. Butola, that the impact of higher crude prices
need not always be severe, and can, in fact, be circumvented by means of some
ingenious countervailing measures.
The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and
upgradation of plants and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to
petrochemicals.
For instance, by using modern processes, IOC has been able to convert many black
products into high value fuel such as LPG and petrol, significantly raising the
company s distillate yield from 71.5 per cent in 2004 05 to 75.4 per cent in 2010 11,
and thereby extracting more high value products from every barrel of crude.
A recent IMF working paper (No.11/194) Oil shocks in a global perspective: Are
they really that bad? is a scholarly exposition downplaying the gloomy
prognostications associated with surging oil prices. The importance of the paper is
that it almost exclusively focuses on the economies of developing countries.
It goes into the relationship between oil prices and macroeconomic fundamentals,
including economic output and value and volume of international
The Seven Habits
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey became a
blueprint for personal development when it was published in 1989 First of all,
Covey defined habits as the intersection of knowledge, skill, and desire: Knowledge
is the theoretical paradigm, the what to do and why. Skill is the how to do. And
finally, desire is the motivation, the want to do. Now, a paradigm is a framework
containing the basic assumptions, ways of thinking, and methodology that are
commonly accepted by members of a scientific community. The author divided the
habits into two categories: dependence and interdependence. Dependence is the
paradigm under which we are born, relying upon others to take care of us. On the
other side, independence is the paradigm under which we make our decisions and
take care of ourselves. Finally, interdependence is the... Show more content on

Imagine there are 2 people and a tree with 5 apples on it. They are both too short to
reach the apples but if one of them sits on the other s shoulders he can reach all 5 of
the apples. This is called synergizing: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
You can t achieve this with everyone but you can always look for opportunities to
create a synergy. With every synergistic opportunity you create, you can gather many
more apples than when you are doing it by yourself. Now to define synergy, it means
two heads are better than one. Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is
teamwork, open mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old
problems. Because when people begin to interact together genuinely, and they re open
to each other s influence, they begin to gain new insight. The capability of inventing
new approaches is increased exponentially because of differences. And valuing
differences is what really drives synergy, such as the mental, emotional, and
psychological differences. These differences should be seen as strengths, not
weaknesses. Habit 7: Sharpen the
Improving Police Community Relations Between Police
And...
Improving police community relations allows officers to do their job more
effectively, it can also help officers have a better morale and find their jobs safer
and easier. If a level of trust is established between police and the community they
serve, members of the community will be more willing to offer their help to solve
crimes, and give out information about possible suspects. It is extremely important
for the policeto have an open line communication to the community if they want to
increase the community s level of satisfaction. Improving police community
relations will not only benefit the police department, it will also help community
members. If the residents of a respective area trust their police officers they will be
able to have less fear and feel safer around their neighborhood. It will also help
because if the police and the community work together crimes will be resolved
quicker which will lead to criminals being apprehended, crimelevels being lower and
the community being safer.
There are many things that distinguish community policing from traditional policing.
For example, in traditional policing the focus and most important goal is to
apprehend criminals and bring them to justice. However, community policing focuses
on ways the police department and the community could get together to prevent crime
and become a team. One of the major differences is that in community policing there
is a pact of shared responsibility, in which both community residents
Prejudice And Racism In Canada
I went to a high school in Canada where I graduated with one coloured student, so
my ideas of race are completely different from students here. Coming down here
was a bit of a shock how big racial issues were, it was something I never really had
to deal with at home and I hadn t put much thought into it. One of the biggest eye
opening things that happened on campus what the black lives matter march that
happened last year around campus. I just happened to be going for dinner at the main
dining hall when it started out in the courtyard out front. It was a new experience
because there had never been protests or marches tribute to racewhere I grew up, I
had never seen people passionate about it like I saw that night. I wouldn t go as far to
say that I was unaware of race before this happened, I have been educated on the
subject, but since I believe I have become much more aware of it. I have started to
realize discrimination as well as pay... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I never saw the significance that race can play in anything, and now I m starting to
see the subtle ways it works, like it has in the case of this article. I probably would
have assumed the dropout rate was due to external factors that were not mentioned
in the article. I would not have understood the connection between lower income
families being those of colour. I also probably would have assumed that the reason
that community colleges had such a high dropout rate was because it was full of
kids who didn t want to be there in the first place.
Another way my eyes have been opened about race through this course is when we
talked about images of God. I had never really considered God being any other race
then my own. I didn t realize that so many different cultures had created their own
depictions of God and Mary. I had no idea what Lady of Guadalupe was until this
Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin Assassination
From peasant to supreme mystic, Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin rose through the
Russian hierarchy using his captivating appearance, charm, and supernatural ability.
Rasputin s quick surge of reputation frightened many and rumors started to grow. The
divided population recognized Rasputin as either a healer and prophet or a mad monk
with malintent. Questioning Rasputin s motives and influence, government officials
plotted against him. Eventually came a day that the aristocrats assassinated Rasputin
after several failed attempts. Considering the possibility of assassination, Rasputin
left behind prophecy with consequences that would soon follow. Prior to Rasputin s
assassination, extraordinary events unraveled in the realization of his power. Under
unfortunate circumstances, Rasputin was immediately born into poverty on January
21, 1869. Being within the small boundaries that a Siberian peasant family provided,

Nell Towne Personal Conflict Styles
In the article Personal Conflict Styles author Ronald B. Adler, Russell F. Proctor II,
and Nell Towne teaches us that when communicating one s needs in a conflict
situation, there are clear differences between nonassertive, directly aggressive,
passive aggressive, indirect, and assertive behaviors. Nonassertive is one of the
behaviors one might show. Nonassertive is the inability or unwillingness to express
thoughts or feelings in a conflict. Sometimes nonassertive comes from a lack of
confidence. One study revealed that dating partners do not express roughly %40 of
their relational grievances to one another. In contrast to non assertion, direct
aggression occurs when a communicator expresses a criticism or demand that
threatens the face
The Legal Status Of The Human Body
In our present bio medical age, with the advancement of technology, the legal
definitions of persons and property have begun to endanger what it means to be
classified as a human. From organ donation, to surrogacy, and the research done on
bodily fluids and tissues, the human body is slowly becoming the propertyof the state
rather than the property of the person. In order to combat this legal status there
needs to an expansion of the property rights of legal persons, which would have to
encompass their body, including all by products that the body produces. Michael
Sandel, a professor at Harvard, has identified two arguments surrounding the idea of
surrogacy that can also be applied to organ donationor other areas of medicine and...

In our society the process of selling and buying children, body parts and their by
products will always seem morally corrupt even if the law changes to support that
market.
These two arguments help to show the problem with the purchase and sale of
children in relation to surrogacy. Sandel argues that a pregnant mother cannot
voluntarily enter into a contract to give her unborn child away once birthed
because she is unlikely to be fully informed of all the consequences and details.
Sandel goes on to say that treating a child as a commodity degrades them because
they are now used as a form of profit. Based on Sandel s two arguments, when an
issue arises over the products or processes of a human body there can be no way in
which the transaction could take place in an entirely voluntary matter. One party
will always be at a disadvantage in one way or another and societal norms will not
allow for transactions, where there appears to be no disadvantage present, to take
place.
Sandel s arguments can be seen during the appeal trial of the famous Baby M case,
but in the initial trial, adjudicated by Justice Sorkow, the reasoning behind the
judgement takes the opposite approach of Sandel s arguments. Justice Sorkow based
his decision in the trial partially on the fact that the surrogate consciously chose to
have a child for another couple. Justice Sorkow reasons that the
Synthesis Of Dulcin Synthesis
Introduction
There is a demand for artificial sweeteners because people want to control their
intake of sugar. Saccharin, cyclamates, aspartame, as well as Dulcin, are some
sugars that fulfill the need for sweeteners to be of low caloric content. Some of the
sweeteners, such as Dulcin, are now considered to yield undesirable health effects
with long term use. Dulcin is 250 times sweeter than table sugar. The synthesis of
Dulcin was done in order to calculate the percent yield. The lesson of this
experiment was to learn how to synthesize Dulcin from phenetidine and potassium
cyanate (KOCN). During the experiment, Dulcin was synthezided in the presence of
water and acetic acid, which were the solvents. Hydrocyanic acid (HOCN) was
formed from the acetic acid and KOCN (Scheme 1 equation 1). Then the HOCN will
react with phenetidine to make Dulcin (Scheme 1 equation 2).
Scheme 1: Steps in Dulcin Synthesis. The apparatus used was the vacuum filtration,
which is faster than the gravity filtration and can only be used with a BГјchner
funnel. When using the BГјchner funnel, a filter paper needs to be inside of the
funnel, as well as, a rubber stopper placed on the funnel to guarantee a good seal.
After the experiment was completed, a pure sample of Dulcin was obtained
because the exact melting point was determined to be 171.5 172.1В°C while the
literature value was 173 174В°C which is a narrow range. The Rf values also
support the reasoning that Dulcin is pure because the Rf value for
International Criminal Court Argumentative Essay
In 1998, the International Criminal Court was created through the Rome Statute. The
court was made with the intention of being a justice system that had jurisdiction over
international crimes such as war crimes and genocide. Originally, there were 124
states that ratified the International Criminal Court and there were 31 states that
signed. Recently, states have decided to leave the International Criminal Courtor
retract their signatures. There are many arguments as to why these states are
choosing to leave, but, specifically for African states like South Africa, people argue
that the International Criminal Court is mainly prosecuting crimes committed in
Africa; they believe they are spending an unfair amount of time on the crimes in...

From the point of view of a realist, states tend to pursue their own interests.
Specifically, states that have not ratified the Rome Statute of the International
Criminal Court can do what they deem necessary whether or not it is in accordance
with international law. Therefore, states, such as South Africa, are driven by their own
self interest to leave the International Criminal Court. For South Africa, their self
interests may include protecting their citizens from what they believe is an unjust
court system. African leaders, like the leaders in South Africa, believe that the
International Court System is biased and is a tool for Europe to beat up on Africa.
(NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE). In particular, realists believe that self interest is
driven by the state s pursuit of power. In this case, the countries that are not under the
International Criminal Court s jurisdiction do not have to follow the international
laws that are defined in the Rome Statute. Therefore, in pursuit of power, the South
African government may choose to follow the suit of other powerful countries and
leave the International Criminal Court. In contrast to the realist view, constructivism
is based on the fact that the system is created by the states, and, therefore, anarchy is

Writing An Explanatory Essay. 23 Writing Explanatory Essays Thoughtful Learning K-12

  • 1. Writing An Explanatory Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "Writing An Explanatory Essay" is a challenging endeavor that demands a nuanced understanding of both the subject matter and the art of essay composition. The difficulty lies in the delicate balance between providing clear explanations and maintaining a compelling narrative flow. To start, one must delve into the fundamentals of explanatory writing, dissecting the nuances of elucidating complex ideas without veering into verbosity. This involves not only a thorough comprehension of the chosen topic but also a keen awareness of the target audience's level of understanding. Striking this equilibrium is akin to walking a tightrope, requiring a writer to navigate between the cliffs of oversimplification and the abyss of jargon. Furthermore, the task involves the careful selection and organization of information. Deciding what to include and what to omit demands a discerning eye for relevance and a mastery of the art of synthesis. The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent narrative but also in ensuring that each piece of information serves a purpose, contributing meaningfully to the overall clarity of the exposition. The structural intricacies of essay writing further compound the difficulty. Crafting a compelling introduction that captivates the reader, developing a well-organized body that presents information logically, and delivering a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression—all while maintaining a seamless flow—are tasks that require finesse and a deep understanding of rhetorical strategies. Additionally, the challenge extends to the revision process. Revisiting one's work with a critical eye, refining the language, and honing the clarity of explanations demand both time and a willingness to engage in the sometimes arduous task of self-editing. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Writing An Explanatory Essay" is a formidable task that demands a multifaceted skill set. It involves navigating the delicate balance between clarity and complexity, making judicious choices in information selection, and mastering the art of essay composition. The difficulty is not merely in putting words on paper but in sculpting a piece that seamlessly conveys complex ideas to a diverse audience. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays and a plethora of writing services are available on platforms like HelpWriting.net, providing a valuable resource for individuals navigating the challenges of essay composition. • 3. Sam Houston Research Paper Sam Houston, one of the most illustrious political figures of Texas, but that is not all he was. Along with politics he excelled in being a business man, the study of law, a solider to the Texas army, and a family man. But how could a single man play such a significant role in the building foundations to the state of Texas? Starting with the basics of who this man is and where he came from can serve as a guide as to why he did the heroic things he did. He was a vital part in shaping not only Texas but the young and prosperous country. Born on March 2, 1793, Sam had been the fifth child and fifth son to his father Samuel Houston and mother Elizabeth (Paxton) Houston. Along with his five brothers, he also had three sisters. The family resided on a small plantation in Rockbridge County, Virginia ( ). At a young age of just 13 his father died and was forced to emigrate with his mother and eight siblings to Blount County in Eastern Tennessee where they established a farm near Maryville. It was not long after their settlement did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the age of seventeen he returned home to his family for a short while, then returned back to the Cherokees where he was adopted by Chief Oolooteka and given the name Colonneh, or The Raven ( ). Two years later, Sam Houston was almost twenty years of age and had returned to Maryville, Tennessee and opened a successful private school to help repay his debts. On his twentieth birthday however, Houston received word about the war break out with the British. He enlisted that day with the United States Army as a private. It was not long after, even within the year of his service, he was promoted to Third Lieutenant to the 39th Infantry Regiment where he received near fatal wounds in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (lib u tex). Houston eventually resigned from the army in 1818 so he could start his practice in
  • 4. Analysis Of The Story Sunday On The Park Similar to how a postcard would depict a perfect family enjoying an evening at a park, so does Bel Kaufman, depict a seemingly well adjusted family in her short story entitled Sunday in the Park. The story is a near perfect representation of a family spending quality time together in an idyllic location, as each familymember tries to relax on a Sunday. As the day slowly progresses, the setting of the park gradually reflects the true imbalance of the family unit, showing week family bonds. Due to lack of cohesiveness of the characters, which is seen through their inability to communicate effectively with one another, the characters expose themselves as being truly disconnected people. This problem is further depicted through the introduction of a stimulus in the form of a bully, who pushes the family away from their comfort zone of logic, into an uncomfortable place of emotionand physical action. Kaufman plainly expresses that using logic as a means to maintain strong family bonds is utterly outweighed by a family who continues to communicate on an emotional level. Through the use of an idyllic setting such as a park, Kauffman is able to magnify flaws within the family, which ordinarily would not be seen. Kauffman uses aspects of setting and words to draw in feelings of sadness and emotional disconnect within the family: It was still in the late afternoon sun, and the city noises came muffled through the trees in the park. She put her book down on the bench, removed
  • 5. Church History, Or Contemporary Experience Of The Other... strained in its correspondence to the Bible (1 Cor 12:30), church history, or contemporary experience of the various collection of Christ. Dunning s representation of a quiet man who came to faith in his service was extremely convincing too. Could this man who couldn t talk get the Pentecostal submersion of the Holy Spiritas prove by tongues as characterized by Horton? This point was well taken. General I was empowered by the evangelist endeavors of the Pentecostals, the stories of the work of the Spirit in the lives of individuals in different customs, and their strong observer for Christ. Nevertheless, I was altogether unconvinced by the convention of subsequence confirm at first and solely by talking in tongues. Pentecostals believes that receiving of Holy Spirit is only done by looking up to Jesus. Sometimes it happens without even seeking the experience as it happened in the romans at the Cornelius house. I agree with what Horton says about receiving the Holy Spirit as growing up in India I have seen a lot of people receive the gifts faster than usual. But I am glad that Horton recognizes when he says, All the gifts of God is by grace through faith, and that faith included obedience, must be based on God s written word, and must be faith in God. We need to ask than we will receive as the word says that. Even in bible we will see people were waiting and asking in expectation as they have heard John the baptism proclaim that right now they are being baptized by
  • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ohv Vs Side Valve Engine Overhead Valve Engine (OHV) VS Side Valve Engine There are mainly two types of engines that you may see in lawn mowers side valve and overhead valve engine. As per the research, the Overhead Valve Engine is more durable as compare to Side Valve Engine. It is seen that Older mowers that have Overhead Valve Engine give lesser problems because its design is more efficient and it is more environment friendly. It uses less gas and less carbon build up that helps prevent the wear down of the engine. The OHV engines are also quieter. There are mainly two famous engine manufacturers: Honda and Briggs Stratton. Honda engines manufacture OHV for quite a long time, whereas the Briggs Stratton makes both OHV and Side Valve Engines. Honda engines are less noisy and reliable which make them better as compare to others but Honda engines are a bit expensive. There are other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The corded mowers are lighter in weight since they don t require any battery. As long as the cord is plugged into the power socket you don t have to worry about the electric power issues, unlike the cordless mowers in which you need to check if the mower is fully charged before using it. Cons OF Corded Lawn Mower The corded lawn mower has some limitations like it is required to be plugged in all time while you are mowing, it gets really annoying when you want to mow around the tree area or any similar obstacle and you definitely don t want the cord to get entangled around the tree while you are mowing. Cordless Lawn Mower A Cordless Lawn Mower is one that runs on battery and does not require any cables or cords to be plugged in to run the mower. It comes with lithium batteries which are required to be charged before you mow your lawn. Let s go through some pros and cons of the cordless lawn mower. Pros Of Cordless Lawn
  • 7. A Research Study On Human Genetics While some outside of the university setting think researchers within academia do not work, that could not be farther from the truth. After following Ryan Hernandez, PhD, weekly duties, we saw that his responsibilities are anything but few. From family man to professor to researcher, he somehow manages to lead his laboratory of seven people in their study of genetic variation. He also takes on additional tasks that are outside his job responsibilities, like serving on several committees. The population geneticist is an Associate Professor in the UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy, Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences and serves as a core member in the Quantitative Biosciences Institute and the Institute for Human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By understanding what has been done and the holes in our knowledge, we can make steps to identify ways to fill in those gaps. The rest of Hernandez s week is filled with joint lab meetings with two other labs that have similar lines of research that feature a presentation of one researcher s work and a discussion of possible next steps. These meetings take place on Mondays and last 1.5 hours. Additionally, each year Hernandez teaches for one quarter. This year he is teaching during the winter quarter and is in the classroom for twice a week, for a total of three hours per week. The most enjoyable part of teaching is interacting with students, Hernandez said. I also mentor some students and post doctoral researchers by helping them develop scientific maturity in their career development. Two of the past students that Hernandez taught have completed their PhD s. One now works in the industry for a startup, and the other is completing their post doctoral fellowship at Stanford University. Hernandez is also graduate advisor for the Biological and Medical Informatics Graduate Program (BMI) and a co primary investigator for the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) Grant. The IMSD Grant is an initiative for maximizing student development through a minority oriented training grant where we seek to develop and foster underrepresented minorities at the graduate level at UCSF to ensure that they are given the resources they need to be successful
  • 8. The Labyrinths In The Borgesian World Labyrinths in the Borgesian World.A labyrinth can be defined as a structure consisting of a number of intercommunicating passages arranged in bewildering complexity, through which it is difficult or impossible to find one s way without guidance . The life of Jorge Luis Borges was one filled with labyrinths. At an early age, Borges was haunted by these mysterious things that filled his childhood, with his first encounters coming from his father s massive library. He once said in an interview that he found an engraving of the seven wonders of the world, one of which that portrayed a circular labyrinth ; this frightened him dearly. From his childhood to his writings, these inhumane feats filled his life with nightmares. He questioned their existence and wondered what the truth was behind them. Have you... So the night before Jaromir is about to be executed, he prays to God to be given a year to finish his play. The next morning comes and as Jaromir exits his cell, on his way to his death, he imagines being lead down a maze of galleries, stairways, and wings, but is instead lead down a single iron staircase . Instead of endless possibilities, there is just one way down. Just one of Borges labyrinths in the story. As the bullets are being shot at Jaromir, time stops completely; confusing Jaromir. He realizes that God has granted him a secret miracle of a year inside his own mind. Working by memory, Jaromir finishes his play and dies at 9:02 on March
  • 9. Essay on A Fictional Account of Early Iceland A Fictional Account of Early Iceland The origin and evolution of saga writing in Iceland are largely matters for speculation. A common pastime on Icelandic farms, from the 12th century down to modern times, was the reading aloud of stories to entertain the household, known as sagnaskemmtun ( saga entertainment ). It seems to have replaced the traditional art of storytelling (Hermann Palsson, pg. 1). Njal s Saga uses Old Icelandic writing convention and historical data to give a fictional account of a generation s lifestyle and struggles. Icelandic literature has become very valuable because historians have realized the great amount of truth that can be found in each saga. According to one historian, the sagas have proven to be ... An emphasis on dairy cattle and sheep meant that lamb and beef and dairy products such as cheese and whey were relatively plentiful, especially following good seasons (Gary Martin, pg. 2) Despite the abundance of food, as more settlers came, the resources were slowly depleted: The following episode from Grettir s Saga is likely to have been typical: as soon as Eirik knew that Onund had arrived he offered to give him anything he wanted, and added that there was not much land still unclaimed. Onund said he would like first to see what land was available. So they went south across the fjords, and when they reached Ofaera, Eirik said, Now you can have a look at it. From here on the land is unclaimed up to Bjorn s settlement. (Gary Martin, p.2). Clearly this famine was a historical, recorded event since there are also reports of a shortage of foodstuffs in Njal s Saga. This was a time of great famine in Iceland, and all over the country people were going short of hay and food (Njal s Saga, Ch. 47). So it is clear that Njal s Saga includes some factual information, yet still remains a fictional narrative. Instead of creating a form of law enforcement, the Icelanders usually took matters into their own hands. This is can be seen in the many killings that occur in Njal s Saga. The Icelandic people had developed a feud system,

This issue has become more prevalent than what we realize. Unless a unit for measuring a juvenile s risk of recidivism is enacted and used to determine a system to promote effective prevention, than the juvenile prison population will continue to increase. Not only this but, offenders who commit new offenses after court contact are at risk for a variety of poor developmental and life course outcomes, including school failure, out of home placements, occupational marginality, and long term involvement in criminal activity (Schwalbe 2004). As seen here, this is a downward spiral. Active reform has never before been at such a demand. As recidivism and juvenile delinquency continues to increase, not only will national crime rates and juvenile prison populations inflate, but the diminishing of an educated, safe, and economically stable society will also be affected regrettably. If juveniles whom continue to commit repeat criminal offenses lack school initiative, family support, and job exposure, than relatively as recidivism and juvenile criminal activity increases, our nation s standard of living will consequently lower. For those who are simply interested in the costs, it may be fairly surprising. It is a common and misconceived ideal that incarceration is a cheap and easy way to contain criminals, in this case juveniles. However, due to the fact that the incarceration itself has not in any way hindered criminal activity rates or decreased juvenile recidivism, taxpayers are simply investing more money into these detention facilities and court proceedings than what is realized. Let s look at a specific detention facility for example. The Cook

Traditional attest functions have therefore expanded resulting in an equally expanded assurance function to involve the expression of written or oral conclusions on the reliability and / or information systems. We can summarize the main objectives of auditing therefore as: 1. The confirmation of the accuracy of accounts and statements 2. Detection of errors and frauds. 3. Prevention of errors and frauds. However, to qualify as an auditor, one must be a member of the institute of Chartered Accountants as defined under the Chartered Accountants Act 1963 (170) and must not have been disqualified from acting as an auditor by any legislative instrument by the registrar. An auditor, therefore, is a person who reports on the accounts of an organization or enterprise. Nevertheless; there are two types of audit, namely Internal and External audit. But for the purpose of our study; we would want to concentrate much on internal audit.

In discussing Thomas and Beulah, Stein explains, It is almost painful to witness Thomas and Beulah, two people clearly devoted to each other, continually misinterpret each other s behavior (70). Although Daystar is not necessarily written from an autobiographical perspective, Dove is using the research of her family and her own experiences to welcome us into the lives of the distressed Beulah. Beyond the already mentioned first line about how Beulah wanted a little room for thinking (1), there are many other evidences in the poem that prove this woman desires more than what she currently has. Even today, women are viewed as the main caretakers of their children and the ones who are expected to respond to the domestic duties at home, and this is what Beulah exemplifies. In the next lines of Daystar, obligations of motherhood are further explained as Dove writes, but she saw diapers steaming on the line, /a doll slumped behind the door (2 3). In preparation, I put on my swimsuit and practiced paddling and popping up on my skateboard as I rode around the campground at seven o clock in the morning. It seemed like forever until my family woke up and was finally ready to go to the beach. Luckily, Mason and I only had to walk a total of 200 meters to get the board into the water; unfortunately, half of the trek was through soft sand, and took over five minutes. Eventually, we were ready to make our first surfing memories. Mason was elected to go first since he was older and it was his present. My father waded into the water and pushed
  • 29. Supercharged Bike Engine and Its Simulation Supercharger The process of supercharging is to increase the increase the amount of air intake in an engine by making use of a compressor. This compressor is also called a supercharger. A supercharger works by increasing the pressure or density of air supplied to an engine, which allows for burning of more fuel per cycle by the engine because of the increased oxygen with the increased amount of air being supplied to the engine. The compressor takes in the air from the atmosphere at atmospheric pressure, and if the carburetor is connected upstream then the mixture of fuel. It rapidly accelerates this mixture or air which causes adiabatic compression in the inlet manifold. We have connected the carburetor after the compressor. As the inlet valve opens, the pressure built rams the charge inside the combustion chamber. Figure 1: Supercharging an Engine According to the method of gas transfer superchargers can be divided into the following two categories: 1.Positive Displacement: These are the type in which the air pressure delivered is independent of the engine speed. These deliver a constant pressure. Examples: Roots type, Lysholm Twin Screw, Sliding Vane, and Scroll Type Supercharger . 2.Dynamic Compressors: These compressors do not deliver any pressure below a certain threshold engine speed. Examples: Multi Stage Axial Flow, Centrifugal. Figure 2: Types of Supercharger For our purpose we used a centrifugal type air compressor which is driven by an

It never occurred to me about the importance of why people believed in religion or superstition until I entered high school. Growing up Catholic, it felt like a routine to attend mass every Friday and Sunday because that was what everyone I knew did. I was never that interested in any beliefof God, let alone any interest in superstition. I always thought that my religious beliefs tied to my cultural background. Growing up as a second generation of Filipino heritage, life without Christ was looked upon as unbearable, and less motivating to do things in life. It is as if Filipinos needed to breathe with the motivation of God, and become heavily influenced by applying Catholicism to its culture. However, the question about why people believe in religionand superstition is still a mystery to this day. I conducted an interview with a good friend of mine named Andrei. Andrei values humbleness, and during my interview with him, he reminisces about the times when he was a little boy, he and his grandmother would constantly go to the Christian Orthodox Church to pray. When I came to the question about what he thought about the idea of the significance of religion as well as superstition, he answered, Whatever you believe in comes from within yourself. (Vlad. In Grant Penrod s Anti Intellectualism: Why We Hate the Smart Kids essay, he argues that academic achievements should be acknowledged equally just as an athletic achievement. Smart kids do not receive the acknowledgment that they deserve since society has a negative look regarding smart kids. Anti Intellectualism is hostile feelings towards intellectuals or intellectual thoughts. Society tends to celebrate non intellectuals. The essay talks about smart kids being labeled social outcasts for the reason that average kids have separated themselves from kids smarter than them. Instead of intellectuals being seen in a positive light, there is a disfavor for intellectuals that have become an enormous part of society. Through Penrod s examination, he uses pathos to draw his audience in to feel pity for the intellectuals. He makes the non intellectuals seem as if they are bullies picking on the little guy. Penrod does this because he knows people will sympathize for the little guy. This makes his argument effective because people will stand up and defend the little guys, the

It is extremely important for the policeto have an open line communication to the community if they want to increase the community s level of satisfaction. Proctor II, and Nell Towne teaches us that when communicating one s needs in a conflict situation, there are clear differences between nonassertive, directly aggressive, passive aggressive, indirect, and assertive behaviors. Nonassertive is one of the behaviors one might show. Nonassertive is the inability or unwillingness to express thoughts or feelings in a conflict. Sometimes nonassertive comes from a lack of confidence. One study revealed that dating partners do not express roughly %40 of their relational grievances to one another. In contrast to non assertion, direct aggression occurs when a communicator expresses a criticism or demand that threatens the face

The Legal Status Of The Human Body In our present bio medical age, with the advancement of technology, the legal definitions of persons and property have begun to endanger what it means to be classified as a human. From organ donation, to surrogacy, and the research done on bodily fluids and tissues, the human body is slowly becoming the propertyof the state rather than the property of the person. In order to combat this legal status there needs to an expansion of the property rights of legal persons, which would have to encompass their body, including all by products that the body produces. Michael Sandel, a professor at Harvard, has identified two arguments surrounding the idea of surrogacy that can also be applied to organ donationor other areas of medicine and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our society the process of selling and buying children, body parts and their by products will always seem morally corrupt even if the law changes to support that market. These two arguments help to show the problem with the purchase and sale of children in relation to surrogacy. Sandel argues that a pregnant mother cannot voluntarily enter into a contract to give her unborn child away once birthed because she is unlikely to be fully informed of all the consequences and details. Sandel goes on to say that treating a child as a commodity degrades them because they are now used as a form of profit. Based on Sandel s two arguments, when an issue arises over the products or processes of a human body there can be no way in which the transaction could take place in an entirely voluntary matter. One party will always be at a disadvantage in one way or another and societal norms will not allow for transactions, where there appears to be no disadvantage present, to take place. Sandel s arguments can be seen during the appeal trial of the famous Baby M case, but in the initial trial, adjudicated by Justice Sorkow, the reasoning behind the judgement takes the opposite approach of Sandel s arguments. Justice Sorkow based his decision in the trial partially on the fact that the surrogate consciously chose to have a child for another couple. Justice Sorkow reasons that the
  • 52. Synthesis Of Dulcin Synthesis Introduction There is a demand for artificial sweeteners because people want to control their intake of sugar. Saccharin, cyclamates, aspartame, as well as Dulcin, are some sugars that fulfill the need for sweeteners to be of low caloric content. Some of the sweeteners, such as Dulcin, are now considered to yield undesirable health effects with long term use. Dulcin is 250 times sweeter than table sugar. The synthesis of Dulcin was done in order to calculate the percent yield. The lesson of this experiment was to learn how to synthesize Dulcin from phenetidine and potassium cyanate (KOCN). During the experiment, Dulcin was synthezided in the presence of water and acetic acid, which were the solvents. Hydrocyanic acid (HOCN) was formed from the acetic acid and KOCN (Scheme 1 equation 1). Then the HOCN will react with phenetidine to make Dulcin (Scheme 1 equation 2). Scheme 1: Steps in Dulcin Synthesis. The apparatus used was the vacuum filtration, which is faster than the gravity filtration and can only be used with a BГјchner funnel. When using the BГјchner funnel, a filter paper needs to be inside of the funnel, as well as, a rubber stopper placed on the funnel to guarantee a good seal. After the experiment was completed, a pure sample of Dulcin was obtained because the exact melting point was determined to be 171.5 172.1В°C while the literature value was 173 174В°C which is a narrow range. The Rf values also support the reasoning that Dulcin is pure because the Rf value for
  • 53. International Criminal Court Argumentative Essay In 1998, the International Criminal Court was created through the Rome Statute. The court was made with the intention of being a justice system that had jurisdiction over international crimes such as war crimes and genocide. Originally, there were 124 states that ratified the International Criminal Court and there were 31 states that signed. Recently, states have decided to leave the International Criminal Courtor retract their signatures. There are many arguments as to why these states are choosing to leave, but, specifically for African states like South Africa, people argue that the International Criminal Court is mainly prosecuting crimes committed in Africa; they believe they are spending an unfair amount of time on the crimes in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the point of view of a realist, states tend to pursue their own interests. Specifically, states that have not ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court can do what they deem necessary whether or not it is in accordance with international law. Therefore, states, such as South Africa, are driven by their own self interest to leave the International Criminal Court. For South Africa, their self interests may include protecting their citizens from what they believe is an unjust court system. African leaders, like the leaders in South Africa, believe that the International Court System is biased and is a tool for Europe to beat up on Africa. (NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE). In particular, realists believe that self interest is driven by the state s pursuit of power. In this case, the countries that are not under the International Criminal Court s jurisdiction do not have to follow the international laws that are defined in the Rome Statute. Therefore, in pursuit of power, the South African government may choose to follow the suit of other powerful countries and leave the International Criminal Court. In contrast to the realist view, constructivism is based on the fact that the system is created by the states, and, therefore, anarchy is
