Juan Ponce De Leon Essay
Juan Ponce de Leon was known as a great man who was always well prepared for
voyages. A nickname that was given to him by the king was Adelantado meaning
ahead. He was a great motivator to other explorers and was a husband and father.
Many are led to believe that Juan Ponce de Leon was the first to discover Florida
but this is not true. Juan Ponce de Leon was the first to discover the Gulf Stream
and was the first to try to create a settlement on Florida and tried to inhabit the land
with animals and a colony but he was not the first to discover Florida. Juan Ponce
De Leon was a great explorer he was born around the 1460 s and came from a
village called San Tervas de Campos (Lawson 1). At an early age he trained to
become an aristocrat, he was a very intelligent explorer. Before Florida he was the
governor of Puerto Rico until the title was prevented to be established by the
Crown because of Ovando. A series of events that followed made him believe that
there wasn t anything for him there anymore. This motivated him to go out and find
his own land. At the time King Ferdinand wanted to reward Juan Ponce de Leon for
his work and duties by granting him a favor. The King gave him the option of finding
new settlement or anything he desired up to a negotiation (Lawson 7). Shortly, Juan

Conflict Resolution At General Hospital Essay
Conflict Resolution at General Hospital Key Issues This week s case encompasses a
nonprofit community hospital (General Hospital) that has been subjected to
competitive forces that have hindered profit margins by directly affecting the patient
occupancy by over 25%. In response to the diminishing returns, Mike Hammer,
General Hospital s CEO, decided to curtail spending and increase costs by
implementing physician controlled costs. The following key issues have been
attributed to Hammer s leadership and direction given to Marge Harding, the newly
appointed chief operating officer (COO) (Hellriegel Slocum, 2011): 1.Hammer has
exhibited unfavorable interpersonal conflict handling and poor emotional intelligence
by not attempting to understand Dr. Mark Williams , the director of medicine, point
of view, hindering potential compromise or the creation of a win win solution to the
revenue issue. 2.The direction Hammer gives to Marge Harding perpetuates a forcing
style of conflict handling, which disregards employee considerations. 3.Harding did
not discuss internal concerns prior to her decision to terminate Dr. James Boyer and
elected to seek advice outside of the organization by contacting Joel Cohen. This may
have attributed to a solution that did not consider organizational concerns particular
to General Hospital, making it hard to perceive the potential consequences of
terminating Dr. James Boyer. 4.Hammer s disconnection from the decision making

Persuasive Speech On Renewable Energy
Imagine for a moment that we turn off the light switch ...... and then the heating. Now
imagine that your smartphone battery is flat. Is it dark? Are you feeling cold and
disconnected from your friends and family? You should be, and you certainly would
be, if governments around the world did not continue to invest in non renewable
power.
Good afternoon (teacher) and classmates.
Whilst it may seem a no brainer to cease investment in non renewable power and
transfer our effort, resources and investment into developing renewable energy
sources, the reality is that we have become so reliant and dependent upon non
renewable energy particularly fossil fuels that we must continue to use, develop, and
invest in such energy to maintain the living standards that we enjoy today. In our
short to medium term future, and in spite of our ever increasing scientific knowledge
about the environmental price that we pay in using non renewable energy, we must
continue to invest in it. Let me explain why.
Environmental Background:
The beginning of the industrial revolution in the eighteenth century led to an
exponential increase in our demand for energy to satisfy the growing needs of
manufacturing, transport, production of raw materials, healthcare, and agriculture.
Simple tasks are taken for granted such as powering up the plethora of devices and
gadgets that we cannot live without such as our smart phones and computers. Whilst
all of these things are central to our very existence on the planet, our increased
dependence on energy has essentially been met to date by the burning of non
renewable fossil fuels, such as brown and black coal.
There are two major problems associated with reliance on fossil fuels to meet our
long term future global energy requirements.
Firstly, and put very simply, fossil fuels are non renewable! Once the finite deposits
of brown and black coal are exhausted around the planet there will be no more energy
generated by this process. Current estimates predict that all known coal deposits will
be exhausted within the next 120 years.
Secondly, together with deforestation of the planet, the burning of fossil fuels is
contributing to a measurable increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in
History of the Development of Computers Essay
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTERS
As we are stepping towards the era of 2020, man have consistently been innovative
and creative in developing and improving technology for various sectors to make the
world a better place for us to live in. If we look closely today, the development of IT
and Computer sector and its application have greatly influenced various other sectors
like telecommunication, transport, agriculture, labour, finance, etc to be more
efficient and effective at their work.
Computers have created a drastic impact in our lives. In fact we are so dependent on
computers that life without computers will certainly be incomplete. In current times

It was designed to be used to perform basic arithmetic operations. Every computer
supports some form of input, processing as well as output. In a modern computer,
these processing is done electronically hence enabling a vastly greater number of
calculation to be performed in lesser time. Binary codes which are representations of
numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds, text and graphic. In digital
computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and off states and
endless combinations of those to process any input.
Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives.
One perspective would be the invention of hardware components over time like
vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits and microprocessors that can be
referred to as a generation of change. In the other hand, another perspective would
be how user friendly were the computers over a period of time. In the 1950s the
computers were almost impossible to use except by very patient geniuses. Next in
the 1960s and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained people. Lastly,
from the 1980s till present time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable
by just about anyone.
From the hardware development perspective, the first generation of computer was the
Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC). These first electronic
computers used vacuum tubes. They were huge and complex,
How Does Gary Ross Use Mis En Scene
The film, The Hunger Games , directed by Gary Ross, uses the camera technique Mis
en scene which creates a sense of chaos, injustice and sympathy through the use of
diegetic sound, quick jump shots between scenes, use of costume design and high
angle shots.
Ross uses the techniques of diegetic sounds and quick jump shots to create a sense of
chaos. For example, during the cornucopia scene where each tribute is standing on
the podium waiting for the games to start, the diegetic sound of the countdown clock
and the quick camera shots flickering between Gale, the capitol, the game makers and
back to the tributes builds up suspense and tension within the scene. When the came
finally commences, it changes to non diegetic music and a hand held camera which
shows Katniss is being overwhelmed and positions the audience to sympathise for
Katniss as the hand held camera suggests that Katniss is unprepared and gave the
audience a sense of nervousness for the fight to the death about to take place. ... Show

He uses this to help show the dramatic differences between the capitol and district

wealth and frivolous wealth, whereas he uses dark and dull colours such as browns
and greys to represent how poor district 12 is. This illustrates the massive difference
between the two societies as the capitol overflows with wealth will district 12 doesn
t stand out at all, suggesting they are less significant. This is important because Gary
Ross had the intention of the two societies to look and be different so this helps to
establish the obvious contrast. This creates the impact and positions the audience to
see that district 12 is being oppressed and because of how extreme the capitol
appeared with their over the top makeup and clothes, the audience cannot relate to
them on same level and so they sympathise with district

Alcoholism, or alcohol dependence, is a disease that includes strong cravings for
alcohol and continuing to drink, despite repeated alcohol related problems.
Although alcoholism can be developed due to excessive consumption, a user is at
higher risk when the disease runs in the family. The four main symptoms of
alcoholism are craving, impaired control, tolerance, and physical dependence. 3,4
For most adults, moderate alcohol use is up to two drinks per day for men and one
drink per day for women and older people. Obivously, the safest way to avoid
alcoholism is to not drink at all. But if one must intake alcohol they should try to stay
around the moderate alcohol intake.
Are there any benefits of alcohol intake? Prior to my research I would have
answered no. But moderate daily alcohol intake actually does have some benefits.
2 oz or 30 mL of 90 proof alcohol, or slightly less than three 12 oz beers reduce a
healthy person s risk of heart attack and stroke, independent of physical activity

Disadvantages would be that all staff would not be able to communicate back to
manage in terms that all staff cannot answer back to the decision that has already
decided. Also the paths for promotion are less well defined as there are fewer levels
compared to hierarchical structure.
Objectives in which Sainsbury s hope to gain while using the flat organisational
structure is that where there is one line of communication between the manager
and the operational staff it is easy for work to be done and messages which are
important or not that given on time and correctly whether they are written or
verbal. The culture in which Sainsbury s use is power culture which on

they use as the performance of Sainsbury s has become very well known as they are
well known nationwide and the performance of the workshop floor is that of a good
standard as all Sainsbury s restaurants are well organised between the employees on
the shop floor as everything runs smoothly.
The disadvantages of this culture for Sainsbury s are that if there is a
miscommunication between the manager and its employees then problems could
occur when work is happening. Also employee may get fed up with trying to
impress and will be less motivated than if they where treated equally on a level
where they are respected and are not
The Causes Of Divorce
Divorce rates in society today often gives hints that marriage does not see much
success. In Maldives, for example, the divorce rate there is so exceptionally high
that the UN concluded that average age of the Maldivian female had been divorced
a staggering three times by the mere age of thirty years old (MarriageAdvice). One
could sit and wonder what the causes of these incredibly high rates are. Although that
there are many reasons for divorce, there are ten very common ones that continually
occur in modern times.
The first and most common reason is extramarital undertakings; or, more simply put,
affairs. (Oliver). Being disloyal can cause intense anger and hatred among married
couples and frequently rips apart the passionate connections that many couples have.
Although one non repetitive instance of disloyalty can sometimes be fixed through
counsel, a countless number of extramarital undertakings eventually result in the
separation of two partners.
Another core reason as to why men and women get separated is simply finances.
Risky investing ideals, indifferent budgeting objectives, and a desire for money can
produce strong tension within a marriage (Oliver). If children become a factor,
money becomes even more vitally important to maintain the relationship as they also
have to focus on their kids. Although it may appear to be a small thing to take into
account, a lack of communication is detrimental in the success rate of a marriage. If
both or just simply one partner
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Accomplishments
This paper will cover Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky s life, starting with his childhood
and education, and how he grew up with music and how he pursued his interests. It
will also cover how Tchaikovsky started his career as a composer and the musical
aspects of his adult life. His personal life and how it shaped the way we see his
music will also be included. The purpose of this written assignment is to discuss
Tchaikovsky s life and why his music is so influential and revolutionary. His
compositions that were notable for its intense emotions and melodic inspiration is the
reason Tchaikovsky is regarded as a master composer.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840 in a small industrial town,

surviving children. His mother, Alexandra, was half French and father worked as a
mine inspector and metal works manager. Tchaikovsky was immersed into music
early in his life. His father would often play music on a rudimentary record player,
called an orchestrion. As a young boy, he was musically precocious. However, his
parents discouraged because they thought it would be unhealthy, seeing as
Tchaikovsky was already a neurotically excitable child. For instance, his mother ...

How does Concentration affect the rate of reaction between Magnesium and

Secondary resources:
Chemical reactions only occur when reacting particles collide with each other, with
sufficient energy to react, this is called the collision theory. The minimum amount of
energy required to cause this reaction is called the Activation energy. There are four
main factors which affect the rate of reaction. The first factor is:
Temperature of reactants:
When the temperature increases the particles move around faster
(because they have more energy). Because the particles are moving faster , they are
more likely to collide. When the temperature is low, the particles are slower and they

The original version of the song Blue Moon was written in 1934 by Richard

a jazz quartet. The meter and the rhythm can be categorized as a compound meter

polyphonic as the vocalist and the musicians have different lines of musicthat are
being performed at the same time. This type of texture was common for the jazzsongs

Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois
Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is
portrayed and perceived they are better understood when unveiling the true
personality of an individual rather than their false persona. Both Blanche DuBois
and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and differ depending on the situation
and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating performance and actions can be
found countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire. To analyze this
personality aspect, Blanche can been seen doing this with her sister Stella Dubois.

classified as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the
performance of a conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. The
proceeding evidence is a very hypocritical statement made by Blanche. Blanche
refers to just desire as merely a physical, sexual aspect between Stanley and Stella.

Health Care Access in Arizona Recently the Untied States top priority has been to
provide accessible and affordable health care to every American. Those that lack
access to coverage find it much more difficult to seek proper treatment and when they
do they maybe left with astronomical medical bills. The CommanWealth Fund found
that one third or thirty three percent of Americans forgo health care because of costs
and one fifth or twenty percent are thus left with medical bills that have problems
being able to pay. The federal government, through the Affordable Care Act (2010),

Governor Brewer also planned on taxing hospitals in order to receive funds for the
program. Her reasoning in doing so is because Arizona already charges a two
percent insurance premium tax and a provider tax on nursing homes (Roy, A. 2013).
She also feels that by expanding Medicaid, hospitals will start to receive payment
for services that would have otherwise not been paid for by those who are
uninsured. For those adults with children that are not eligible for Medicaid but their
income is not enough for private insurance, KidsCare was an option until it froze in
January 2010 due to a cost cutting effort. KidsCare is a state sponsored insurance
program for low income families that is part of the federal Children s Health
Insurance Program (CHIP). Arizona is currently the only state that does not have a
CHIP program which forces families that were on the program to partake in the
health care exchange and pay for private insurance or forgo health coverage and be
uninsured (Whiteman, M., 2014). The number of children covered at the time of the
program freeze went from 45,000 to about 2,000, which was a ninety five percent
drop (Whiteman, M., 2014). Governor Jan Brewer proposed to restore coverage to
thousand of children through KidsCare II, where Phoenix Children s Hospital,
Maricopa Integrated Health System, and the University of Arizona Health Network
would pull money together and receive extra federal funds. The federal funds that the
Orlando Furioso And Medieval Romance
The authors aimed at different purpose. This, alone, forced the difference in
handling the poetic matter. If Orlando Furioso can be categorised as Epic
Romance, Spenser s The Faerie Queene, here particularly Book 1, would be the
Medieval Romance the one with a quest centered narrative. But what is really the
difference? First of all, the central theme. In Orlando Furioso, whatever the
significance of individual duels, monster fights, and larger battles, the driving force
of the poem is love and passion, notably, Orlando s love and passion as the title
itself suggests. To add to the complexity of the poem, Ariosto made it rich in plots,
sub plots, and sub sub plots. It seems as if the poem s chief aim was to entertain. The

No historical event is introduced. Moreover, Spenser chose to set his poem in a
Faerie Land with no apparent geographical boundries and no specific historical
event in the background. One may argue though, that the Faerie Land is indeed
Britain ruled by Great Lady of the greatest Isle , that is, Elizabeth Tudor. It is true as
far as it goes, since poem is highly allegorical from top to bottom.
This fundamental difference between the two poems becomes even more apparent
as the reader progresses through the books. The first book of The Faerie Queene is
character centered, that is, we barely abandon the protagonists (Redcrosse and Una)
throughout the book. Brief sub plots only complement the Quest outlined in the
first stanzas of canto 1. This narration is cumulative. Aditionally, Spenser cherishes
every moment and episode of his poem. He carefully ennumerates the trees, he
suspends the action in order to describe the monster Error that appears early in the
path of Redcrosse and Una. At the same time he makes use of adjectives so as not
to leave us any doubts as to his attitude to it: ... he [Redcrosse] saw the ugly monster

ARH132: Visual Art Analysis
Lippo Vanni s Madonna and child Enthroned (1343)
When the Roman Empire collapsed, Gothicism was born. While Gothic art was first
characterized as Romanesque art, Gothic art soon came to be its own form of art and
era during the Middle Ages. Gothic art was a new combination of sculpture, painting,
architecture and art. In its truest form, Gothicism is illustrated in Lippo Vanni s 1343
painting Madonna and Child Enthroned. Vanni s work is a symbol of the
transitioning time period between the Greco Roman times and the rejuvenation of
the art world. There are several historical, economic, and cultural events that caused

Throughout the Gothic and Renaissance period, there were many other famous
painters and sculptors that have created Madonna images. For example, Giotto s
1300 work, Madonna Enthroned has many similarities to Vanni s work. The use of
the golden colored background is used to draw the viewer s attention and bring a
sense of religion, such as seen in Vanni s work. The composition is also similar to
Vanni s work in the sense that the main, and most important figures are the largest
and most prominent and the perspective is linear.
However, this work differs from Vanni in both complexity and presentation. Giotto
uses light and shadow, as well as more continuously moving lines in order to present
elements more naturally. For example, the drapes in the illustration seem to fall due
to the naturally occurring elements of gravity, making the painting more realistic.
Furthering the notion of natural elements, Giotto s figures have imperfect facial
features. Another difference between the two works is the presence of depth, seen
with the steps that lead to the

Despite the realized dangers, each actual dollar value of derivatives at present
supports between $35 and $70 of notional value. This means that minimal losses
from the face value would suffice to destroy even the best capitalized derivatives
traders (Sivy, 2013). Now, Asian economies begin to tap into the wealth of
opportunities provided by derivative transactions as well. Singapore and Malaysia
are leaders in the region with dedicated derivatives exchanges through the Singapore
Exchange and the Bursa Malaysia respectively. These exchanges facilitate the
increase of derivatives transactions with the SGX s derivatives daily average
volume growing 59% year on year during 2011 (JCN Newswire, 2013). Figure 1
illustrates the trend in volume of the derivatives exchange in terms of the number of
contracts.
Figure 1. Movement of average daily derivative contracts traded on the Bursa

As these established exchanges continue to prosper, neighboring developing countries
such as the Philippines are also beginning to consider the creation of fully operational
exchanges. With steady growth maintained at around 6% during 2013 (Magtulis,
2013), Philippine sectors such as in finance continue to welcome new innovations.
For the financial sector, this means the introduction of new financial instruments.

Typical American Essay
Typical American by Gish Jen explores the reconciliation of loyalty to tradition and
the acclimation to a foreign culture of the Chang family. During the late 1940s,
among political and military strife in China, Theresa Chang is encouraged to join her
brother Ralph in America. Theresa immigrates to America with her friend Helen and
moves in with her brother, Ralph, into his city apartment. They form a family, united
in their common experiences and background. Although hopeful for their future, the
family is nostalgic for the home they have left behind. This novel reveals what each
character sees as typically American , after the family coins the term in response to
an unhelpful landlord. A typical American is not a set of stereotypes. To

After turning down the medical school scholarship for the sake of her family,
Theresa begins studying medicine again. To study to be a doctor in a foreign
country is a challenging task for her because of the limitless nature in the hospital.
Theresa is one of the only female residents in a wilderness of freedoms (142).
Giving in to this wilderness of freedoms, Theresa hesitantly begins an affair with
Old Chao after they reunite during a consultation. When Ralph sees Old Chao
with an anonymous Chinese woman, he returns home and tells his wife. Helen
declares that Chinese people don t do such things and suggests that neither the
woman nor Old Chao are actually Chinese (168). For the Chang family, their
nationality and identity is so intertwined. Theresa s family s misconceptions are a
catalyst for Theresa giving in to her own yearnings. This is a turning point for
Theresa because the censure of her family was like a hard shell under which she
found a certain freedom (173). No longer does Theresa censor herself to appease her
family and live up to their expectations. She is still loyal to her family but wants
more for herself. Theresa becomes willing to embrace her freedom along with the
advantages and disadvantages that stem from

What truly classifies a man as manly ? To some, manhood is a sense of authority
over others, and to others, manhood is shown by love, compassion, and providing
security for those around them. Portrayed as a fast paced film, Magnolia depicts a

differences in life choices. The theme of a film, or any work, is the subject or topic.

Distillation Method Of Isopentyl Acetate ( Banana Oil )
Isopentyl Acetate (Banana Oil)
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to study the esterification reaction principle and
master the preparation method of the isoamyl acetate. It was use isoamyl alcohol and
acetic acid as raw materials, to the synthesis of isoamyl acetate. The necessary
methods are reflux process and distillation process.
Experiment Scheme
Chemical Structure 1: Isopentyl alcohol Chemical Structure 2: Acetic acid Chemical
Structure 3: Isopentyl acetate Chemical Structure 4: Sulfuric acid Chemical
Structure 5: Sodium bicarbonate Chemical Structure 6: Sodium chloride Chemical
Structure 7: Anhydrous sodium sulfate Reaction: Mechanism: First. We weight
the 10 ml graduated cylinder and record the data for 37.87g. Then put 5ml
isopentyl alcohol and weight it with the 10 ml graduated cylinder for 41.94g. So,
we get the isopentyl alcohol weight is 4.07g. Then, we also weight 7ml glacial
acetic acid and put it into the 10 ml graduated cylinder. We add 1 ml sulfuric acid
and put it into the 10 ml graduated cylinder too. After we mix all of the liquid, we
put a boiling stone in the flask. Next, we good connection device like the picture.
Then heating under reflux. Before reflux, we should check it. First, we should wait
until the liquid began to boil and the color was changing to brown. Then, continue to
heat for 75 minutes. After 75 minutes, we stop it. And we need to cool the liquid to
the room temperature. Then we ready 10ml ice water to cool the liquid. After cooling
it, we put the liquid in the separatory funnel. And we should add 5ml saturated
aqueous sodium to separate it. After first separate it. Then add 5ml saturated aqueous
sodium chloride to separate it. Then transfer the liquid to a 25 ml round bottom flask.
After one week, we first weight the sample mass. Then put our sample to another
group s graduated cylinder. And weight the combine mass. Then put the sample into a
distillation unit. To begin the distillation and record the boiling point range. And we
should also weight the mass after distillation. We can calculate the percentage yield.

Mexican American Temple Case Study
Mб»№ SЖЎn is a temple complex located in central Vietnam consisting of over 70
Hindu temples constructed between the 4th to 14th century by the kings of Champa.
The temples were built to worship the god Shiva that symbolizes the father/male

Influenced by Indian artistic tradition, the religious temple complex consists of a
Kalan encompassed by several smaller shrines, auxiliary buildings and low walls.
A gate tower opposite the Kalan is built to orientate in the east west direction. In
front of the gate tower stands a Mandapa, a preparatory hall where sacred songs
and dances were performed as prayers and offerings before proceeding into the

Defining The Broad Scope of Artist
What is art? As I continue to develop my skills and contemplate their purpose, my
initial analysis has not only shifted, but expanded in complexity. Acquired through
our growth into modernism, art has manifested a certain dependence on theoretical
discourse. German Philosopher Arnold Gehlen proposes that art s need for
explanation is derived from its difficulty or otherwise inaccessibility to the public;
implying that although art is always human, human is not always artist. The
exclusivity of the art world supports this notion as it is categorized and defined by a
hierarchal pattern of thought development: from initial Spectator, to Theorist, to
Artist in a sense, paralleling the core pattern of the human condition and artistic...

entrusted by the benighted audience to legitimize the artistry of the piece by
providing and outline for interpretation. I imagine these assertive theoretical
perspectives are as helpful to the audience as they are irritating to the artist. Theories,
by definition are limiting. Once a piece of art is contextualized under the intellectual
bias of an established thinker, there is a tendency for further interpretation to become
obsolete. It is my belief that in regards to Art theories are counterproductive to their
goal. They disseminate a bias that sabotages the individual experience rather than
enhancing it. For the artist of 2014, however, the formulation of a personal theory or
understanding is becoming more vital than ever. Referencing earlier times as
exemplified throughout Classicism, Neo classicism, Romanticism etc. artistry

The Voice in 2014. Though she didn t win, she was signed by Atlantic Records
releasing the first part to her album Cry Baby in August of 2015. It wasn t until

including Mrs. PotatoHead, Melanie s favorite song. Her music can best be

Mrs. Potato Head addresses how society s idea of pretty affects women. At first, the
song sounds silly, but when you sit down and really listen to the lyrics, you start to
make sense of Melanie s metaphors and symbolism. The title of the song, Mrs.

Potato Head begins with an appeal to emotions; Melanie as a little girl in the 60 s
watching commercials about how diet pills and blond hair make girls pretty. This
especially reaches the emotions of girls and women, because growing up, girls are
mean. At some point or another everyone has wanted to fit in and was willing to
be whoever they needed to be for others to like them. This is further exemplified as
Melanie changes the channel to a show with a man in a woman, who she intends
to be Mrs. And Mr. Potato Head. The man adores the women, but he then makes
her an appointment to see a plastic surgeon. There is a bit of foreshadowing in the
fact that the appointment slip is dated for October 31, Halloween. After the
surgery, Mr. Potato Head goes into her room to take the bandages off only to find
out that the surgery had gone wrong, and Mrs. Potato Head isn t as beautiful as he
imagined her to be. She later looks out the window to find that he is cheating on her

Repair Shops
Introduction Millions of people each day rely on someone else to repair anything
that could be wrong with their vehicle. Automotive technicians or mechanics
provide everyday people with their skilled hand in fixing cars. The average person
takes their car to a repair shop if anything goes wrong with it rather than tinkering
with it. Repair shops have been around since Ford started mass producing the Model
T. The tasks of a mechanicare straightforward with an average salary but plenty of
room to grow in the trade. There are hundreds of thousands of job openings coming
in the near future. From entry level mechanic to master technician all it takes is two
years of technical college and finding a good shop, the road to master technician

According to an article written by Autorepairadvisors(n.d.) the average working
hours per week is fifty or so but can be more towards sixty due to overtime to finish
repairing a car in a timely manner. Working hours can also be less towards forty
depending on the place of work. Being an auto mechanic is an extremely
demanding job not just in skill and know how, but also in the physical aspect of the
trade. Some say that as long as the mechanic can lift 50 pounds or more then that is
as much strength that they will need. Which is not wrong, but strength is a lot
more important than that in this industry. According to eHow contributor Thomma
Grindstaff s(n.d.)article Physical Requirements for Auto Mechanics Auto
mechanics must have sufficient strength in their arms to effectively use hand tools
like hammers and wrenches and to make sure that fasteners are properly secured.
The stronger the mechanic the more safe he or she is, because in order to properly
and safely handle some tools medium to high amounts of strength are needed. The
working environment of an auto repair shop is only safe if the mechanics keep it
clean, spills such as oil or other fluids need to either be marked for future clean up,
or cleaned right away to avoid slipping. Proper safety equipment should also be
used whenever in the garage or around a work area, items such as safety glasses,
and gloves should be worn at all times while working. Auto mechanics must always
try their hardest to complete the repair on any given vehicle in a timely fashion. As
soon as the mechanic is repairing the vehicle they are responsible for that vehicle.
This meaning that they are responsible that the repair is done correctly and that no
damage is done to the vehicle. There isn t much behind the scenes work that auto
mechanics do, because both them and the customer know what exactly they are doing

Identification Of Mechanical Parameters At Low Velocities
Identification of mechanical parameters at low velocities for a micropositioning stage
using a velocity hysteresis model
Ioana Corina Bogdan, Member, IEEE†and Gabriel Abba, Member, IEEE‡
Abstract
The paper presents a velocity hysteresis friction model. This model can be used for
simulation or control of an accurate micropositioning servomechanism. The
mechanical and friction parameters are identified from measured signals at low
velocities, and with the use of a closed loop identification method. The measured
signals are very noised. The number of measurement samples available is very low.
The friction model depends on position, velocity and acceleration and includes the
Coulomb, Stribeck and viscous frictions. A hysteresis

Friction is a natural phenomenon, a tangential reaction force between two surfaces in
contact and a significant nonlinear effect that is hard to be precisely modeled.
The friction is given by relations (static friction models) between the friction force
and the relative velocity between the surfaces in contact. The static models contain
Coulomb, viscous or static friction terms, and combination of these three effects, also
adding
Stribeck effect. More advanced friction models that cover better the friction
compensation are the dynamic friction models based on the static friction models [9],

variety of different responses which can be implemented to prevent crimes like the
VW emission fraud case in the future. First, by drawing from Burki s (2015) article

(2013) article which explored corporate environmental crime control strategies, I
will detail the best methods to prevent individuals and corporations from wanting
to engage in fraudulent activities like the VW emission fraud case. First, the study
by Simpson and colleagues found that people are less likely to engage in crimes if
the act is seen as dangerous to people or wildlife, or viewed as socially undesirable.
Second, potential offenders were likely to not commit crimes if there was a higher
chance of receiving a negative informal response. (e.g., loss of respect from family,
friends, and business associates) Finally, potential offenders were deterred if they
were likely to get caught and face a formal response (e.g., legal litigation). Therefore,
to prevent white collar crimes such as the VW emission fraud case in the future, we
should implement laws and regulations that make it more likely that perpetrators are
caught and ultimately face both formal and informal responses. The laws and
regulations could be stricter testing protocol and liability forms which would make it
easier to identify individual actors (i.e., what engineer/employee was responsible for
The Great Debate On Doctor Assisted Suicide Essay
The Great Debate on Doctor Assisted Suicide Euthanasia, in today s world, is a
word with opposing meanings. Originally, it meant a good death (Leming Dickinson,
2016). Since the legalization of euthanasia around the world in the early 1990 s, the
meaning has changed. Several pro euthanasia sites would call it a humane and
peaceful way to end the dying process, by either stopping the course of treatment or
the use of lethal doses of medications (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Con euthanasia
activists are most concerned about the slippery slope idea, being euthanasia is only a
half way house to legalizing murder (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide
Be Legal? Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). When discussing a topic so sensitive as
death, an invisible line appears between a right way and a wrong way to die. By the
end of this paper, the hope is to have an educated discussion regarding some social
and political inquiries surrounding euthanasia and doctor assisted suicide.
Over the last couple of decades, 4 states in the U.S. have voted in favor of the
legalization of physician assisted suicide; California, Vermont, Oregon, and
Washington (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal? Euthanasia
ProCon.org, 2016). The state of Montana has physician assisted suicide, but only
through a court hearing (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal?
Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). Given the idea of autonomy, people feel that they

will be explored. Psychological Traumas Robinson, Smith, and Segal (2012)
defines emotional and psychological trauma as the result of stressful events that

Some commonly overlooked causes of emotional and psychological trauma are 1)
falls or sports injuries, 2) surgeries, 3) sudden death of someone close, 4) car
accident, 5) break up of a significant relationship, 6) humiliating or deeply
disappointing experience, and 7) a discovery of a life threatening illness or disability

Physical Therapy is a growing profession in the healthcare field. There is a continuous
flow of patients who need assistance with recovery and the motivation to finish the
task. As with any healthcare profession, physical therapy can be very demanding.
Therapists can successfully meet those demands by creating a positive environment,
continuously learning and educating others. In addition to possessing these
characteristics, my interest in physical therapy comes from my experiences as a
collegiate athlete and employee of a therapy clinic/gym.
Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants work one on one with patients to
reach common short term and long term goals. During this time, it is important ...

This was continually a learning curve for me as I was presented with new and
exciting challenges every day. These experiences have increased my knowledge and
my ability to adapt to changing situations throughout my life and will be an asset in
becoming a physical therapist assistant.
In addition, a successful therapist is able to educate individuals through recovery by
using different methods suitable for each patient. Physical therapists and physical
therapist assistants are educators in the field of therapy and it is their job to make
the recovery process as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. We know that all
patients are not the same. So, this means that all patients will not process information
in the same way. As a recipient of a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, I have
learned that individuals learn through four basic learning styles (visual, auditory,
reading/writing, and kinesthetic). It is obvious that visual and kinesthetic senses are
used during physical therapy but, at times, individuals need a different approach.
Through my teaching and coaching experiences, I have had opportunities to
demonstrate how to perform skills or tasks to reach all types of learning styles. This
is extremely important for proper education through the rehabilitation process. Being
able to explain what I am doing and why I am doing it in ways that patients can
understand or relate to will be vital to their success and well being after
Essay about The American Revolution and the Institution
of...
Introduction The American Revolution is defined as the political turbulence that took
place towards the end of eighteenth century when thirteen colonies in America united
to attain freedom from the British Empire (Clifford, 2005). The union of the thirteen
colonies is now known as the United States of America. According to Clifford (2005),
the American Revolutionoccurred because of a series of political, intellectual, and
social transformations in the American government and society, which is known as
the American Enlightenment. The American Revolution created a variety of
opportunities for the American slaves to attain freedom (Waldstreicher, 2004). Slaves
were provided with an opportunity to escape their thralldom by being recruited...

An approximate of three thousand slaves escaped from their masters in 1781 when
the British invaded Virginia (Blumrosen Blumrosen, 2006). About five thousand and
twenty thousand slaves in Georgia and South Carolina, respectively, were freed from
bondage as a result of the American Revolution (Clifford, 2005). The Revolution s
natural rights philosophy inspired the freed blacks to request the state legislatures to
get rid of slavery and Congress to terminate the slave trade (Waldstreicher, 2004).
Many of the freed slaves moved to the North because they believed that living
conditions were better in the North than in the South. Unfortunately, they
experienced many problems in the North, such as lack of jobs, insufficient food,
and lack of housing, which forced many of them to go back to the south to work
on the cotton plantations for wages (Clifford, 2005). In the South, the freed slaves
were assured of food and housing. Therefore, the population of slaves started to
grow again in the 1790s and spread into other lands that became the cotton belt
(Clifford, 2005). At round 1793, cotton cultivation expanded into large scale as a
result of the invention of gin. The slaves in the southern states were used as laborers
in spite of the American Revolution s natural rights philosophy (Clifford, 2005).
According to Clifford (2005), the slave owners started to improve the lives of their
slaves on the cotton plantations after a

Next, I stated the null (H0) and the alternative (H1) hypothesis for this data.
Hypothesis testing involves the careful construction of two statements: the null and
alternative. The null hypothesis holds that there will be no observed effect in our
experiment. The alternative or experimental hypothesis holds that there will be an
observed effect for our experiment. The following hypotheses are formulated below:

Current Grading Practices Used By Many Schools No Not...
The first thing I expolored is why current grading practices utilized in many schools
no not necessarily reflect accurate student achievement. First and foremost, grading
varies from teacher to teacher. So if a student gets an easy teacher, grades may be
inflated, whereas if a student gets a hard teacher, grades may not look as promising.
Teacher values and beliefs on educationplay a major factor in this variance of grades.
Consequently, under most current practices where teachers can determine how the
will gradestudents, different teachers may grade the exact same course very
differently. For example, one teacher may have different categories of grades carry
a different weight (ie, tests might be 50% or homework might be 10%,
participation or attendance might factor in), while another teacher might grade
strictly on a total points basis. Because of these, and other notable differences, I am
pleased to see that schools are utilizing an approach which strives to eliminate
extraneous factors and which puts more meaning into the grades stu dents earn
(Cox, 2011). Over the years, more schools have shifted to a grading system called
standard based grading. This system is exactly as it sounds. Students are graded
strictly on their mastery of a given set of standards for each course in secondary
school, or for each subject taught by an elementary school teacher. The ultimate goal
of this system is for grades to actually mean something to parents, students, and
Biblical Models of Servant Leadership
CHAPTER TWO
THE NEED: BIBILICAL MODELS OF SERVANT LEADERSHIP
Introduction
There are basic attitudes which we see in the lives of those whom God called to
servant leadership in the Bible. These include a serving attitude where the leader
sees his[1] primary responsibility to those whom he leads as to serve and develop
them to fulfill their God given mandate. The leader serves by putting on a redeeming
attitude, like Moses and Joshua. In other words he takes responsibility for those he
leads, recognizing needs and reaching out to meet those needs rather than positioning
himself for power and prestige. We see these virtues demonstrated by Jesus. His life
was completely lived to serve the course of the Father ... Show more content on

God prepared Moses through a process and over time and so Moses had to learn to
wait. Usually it is while the leader waits that his mind and perspective is broadened,
his life matures in relation to knowing the One who enlists him, he is empowered to
withstand the storms of leadership, and is humbled to be able to submit to serve.
Moses had to submit to God s way of preparing him for the task of pioneering a
leadership for a people that had gone through decades of pain and misery. Charles
R. Swindoll particularly referred to Moses desert experience as a means for his
preparation for the long lonely way of leadership that was ahead of him. He adds:
some of the world s greatest leaders have been people who lived lonely lives. In
Moses long career as a leader he would be questioned, attacked, accused, hated, and
betrayed. Through it all, he would stand alone. [6] It took the desert experience of
preparation for him to stand alone. In the course of Moses preparation to
leadership he had to learn that God appoints and directs leaders as He wills, and
that the leader has little to say in all that. Swindoll again adds: Moses learned that
lesson from failure ... more often than not, God s leadership candidates are aghast at
their selection. They look with chagrin at the assignment before them. They can
hardly believe their ears when God says, You are the man ; or you are the woman. [7]

He was a great motivator to other explorers and was a husband and father. Many are led to believe that Juan Ponce de Leon was the first to discover Florida but this is not true. Juan Ponce de Leon was the first to discover the Gulf Stream and was the first to try to create a settlement on Florida and tried to inhabit the land with animals and a colony but he was not the first to discover Florida. Juan Ponce De Leon was a great explorer he was born around the 1460 s and came from a village called San Tervas de Campos (Lawson 1). At an early age he trained to become an aristocrat, he was a very intelligent explorer. Before Florida he was the governor of Puerto Rico until the title was prevented to be established by the Crown because of Ovando. A series of events that followed made him believe that there wasn t anything for him there anymore. This motivated him to go out and find his own land. At the time King Ferdinand wanted to reward Juan Ponce de Leon for his work and duties by granting him a favor. The King gave him the option of finding new settlement or anything he desired up to a negotiation (Lawson 7). Shortly, Juan Ponce de Leon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Conflict Resolution At General Hospital Essay Conflict Resolution at General Hospital Key Issues This week s case encompasses a nonprofit community hospital (General Hospital) that has been subjected to competitive forces that have hindered profit margins by directly affecting the patient occupancy by over 25%. In response to the diminishing returns, Mike Hammer, General Hospital s CEO, decided to curtail spending and increase costs by implementing physician controlled costs. The following key issues have been attributed to Hammer s leadership and direction given to Marge Harding, the newly appointed chief operating officer (COO) (Hellriegel Slocum, 2011): 1.Hammer has exhibited unfavorable interpersonal conflict handling and poor emotional intelligence by not attempting to understand Dr. Mark Williams , the director of medicine, point of view, hindering potential compromise or the creation of a win win solution to the revenue issue. 2.The direction Hammer gives to Marge Harding perpetuates a forcing style of conflict handling, which disregards employee considerations. 3.Harding did not discuss internal concerns prior to her decision to terminate Dr. James Boyer and elected to seek advice outside of the organization by contacting Joel Cohen. This may have attributed to a solution that did not consider organizational concerns particular to General Hospital, making it hard to perceive the potential consequences of terminating Dr. James Boyer. 4.Hammer s disconnection from the decision making process allowed
  • 4. Persuasive Speech On Renewable Energy Imagine for a moment that we turn off the light switch ...... and then the heating. Now imagine that your smartphone battery is flat. Is it dark? Are you feeling cold and disconnected from your friends and family? You should be, and you certainly would be, if governments around the world did not continue to invest in non renewable power. Good afternoon (teacher) and classmates. Whilst it may seem a no brainer to cease investment in non renewable power and transfer our effort, resources and investment into developing renewable energy sources, the reality is that we have become so reliant and dependent upon non renewable energy particularly fossil fuels that we must continue to use, develop, and invest in such energy to maintain the living standards that we enjoy today. In our short to medium term future, and in spite of our ever increasing scientific knowledge about the environmental price that we pay in using non renewable energy, we must continue to invest in it. Let me explain why. Environmental Background: The beginning of the industrial revolution in the eighteenth century led to an exponential increase in our demand for energy to satisfy the growing needs of manufacturing, transport, production of raw materials, healthcare, and agriculture. Simple tasks are taken for granted such as powering up the plethora of devices and gadgets that we cannot live without such as our smart phones and computers. Whilst all of these things are central to our very existence on the planet, our increased dependence on energy has essentially been met to date by the burning of non renewable fossil fuels, such as brown and black coal. There are two major problems associated with reliance on fossil fuels to meet our long term future global energy requirements. Firstly, and put very simply, fossil fuels are non renewable! Once the finite deposits of brown and black coal are exhausted around the planet there will be no more energy generated by this process. Current estimates predict that all known coal deposits will be exhausted within the next 120 years. Secondly, together with deforestation of the planet, the burning of fossil fuels is contributing to a measurable increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in

It was designed to be used to perform basic arithmetic operations. Every computer supports some form of input, processing as well as output. In a modern computer, these processing is done electronically hence enabling a vastly greater number of calculation to be performed in lesser time. Binary codes which are representations of numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds, text and graphic. In digital computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and off states and endless combinations of those to process any input. Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives. One perspective would be the invention of hardware components over time like vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits and microprocessors that can be referred to as a generation of change. In the other hand, another perspective would be how user friendly were the computers over a period of time. In the 1950s the computers were almost impossible to use except by very patient geniuses. Next in the 1960s and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained people. Lastly, from the 1980s till present time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable by just about anyone. From the hardware development perspective, the first generation of computer was the Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC). These first electronic computers used vacuum tubes. They were huge and complex,
  • 6. How Does Gary Ross Use Mis En Scene The film, The Hunger Games , directed by Gary Ross, uses the camera technique Mis en scene which creates a sense of chaos, injustice and sympathy through the use of diegetic sound, quick jump shots between scenes, use of costume design and high angle shots. Ross uses the techniques of diegetic sounds and quick jump shots to create a sense of chaos. For example, during the cornucopia scene where each tribute is standing on the podium waiting for the games to start, the diegetic sound of the countdown clock and the quick camera shots flickering between Gale, the capitol, the game makers and back to the tributes builds up suspense and tension within the scene. When the came finally commences, it changes to non diegetic music and a hand held camera which shows Katniss is being overwhelmed and positions the audience to sympathise for Katniss as the hand held camera suggests that Katniss is unprepared and gave the audience a sense of nervousness for the fight to the death about to take place. ... He uses bright colours such as blues and purples to help show the capitol s wealth and frivolous wealth, whereas he uses dark and dull colours such as browns and greys to represent how poor district 12 is. This illustrates the massive difference between the two societies as the capitol overflows with wealth will district 12 doesn t stand out at all, suggesting they are less significant. This is important because Gary Ross had the intention of the two societies to look and be different so this helps to establish the obvious contrast. This creates the impact and positions the audience to see that district 12 is being oppressed and because of how extreme the capitol appeared with their over the top makeup and clothes, the audience cannot relate to them on same level and so they sympathise with district

Prior to my research on alcohol, I assumed that alcohol abuse was not prevalent among college athletes, outside of the occasional partying that normal college students partake in as well. Although alcoholism can be developed due to excessive consumption, a user is at higher risk when the disease runs in the family. The four main symptoms of alcoholism are craving, impaired control, tolerance, and physical dependence. 3,4 For most adults, moderate alcohol use is up to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women and older people. Obivously, the safest way to avoid alcoholism is to not drink at all. But if one must intake alcohol they should try to stay around the moderate alcohol intake. Are there any benefits of alcohol intake? Prior to my research I would have answered no. But moderate daily alcohol intake actually does have some benefits. 2 oz or 30 mL of 90 proof alcohol, or slightly less than three 12 oz beers reduce a healthy person s risk of heart attack and stroke, independent of physical activity level. 5,6,7 In fact, alcohol affects HDL levels just about as strongly as any other lifestyle factor, and may cause a rise in LDL levels thus stopping a critical step in plaque formation in the arteries. 8 Alcohol is the most abused drug in the United States by athletes and non athletes. • 9. The Causes Of Divorce Divorce rates in society today often gives hints that marriage does not see much success. In Maldives, for example, the divorce rate there is so exceptionally high that the UN concluded that average age of the Maldivian female had been divorced a staggering three times by the mere age of thirty years old (MarriageAdvice). One could sit and wonder what the causes of these incredibly high rates are. Although that there are many reasons for divorce, there are ten very common ones that continually occur in modern times. The first and most common reason is extramarital undertakings; or, more simply put, affairs. (Oliver). Being disloyal can cause intense anger and hatred among married couples and frequently rips apart the passionate connections that many couples have. Although one non repetitive instance of disloyalty can sometimes be fixed through counsel, a countless number of extramarital undertakings eventually result in the separation of two partners. Another core reason as to why men and women get separated is simply finances. Risky investing ideals, indifferent budgeting objectives, and a desire for money can produce strong tension within a marriage (Oliver). If children become a factor, money becomes even more vitally important to maintain the relationship as they also have to focus on their kids. Although it may appear to be a small thing to take into account, a lack of communication is detrimental in the success rate of a marriage. If both or just simply one partner

Secondary resources: Chemical reactions only occur when reacting particles collide with each other, with sufficient energy to react, this is called the collision theory. The minimum amount of energy required to cause this reaction is called the Activation energy. There are four main factors which affect the rate of reaction. The first factor is: Temperature of reactants: When the temperature increases the particles move around faster (because they have more energy). Because the particles are moving faster , they are more likely to collide. When the temperature is low, the particles are slower and they also collide less. The ... Governor Brewer also planned on taxing hospitals in order to receive funds for the program. Her reasoning in doing so is because Arizona already charges a two percent insurance premium tax and a provider tax on nursing homes (Roy, A. 2013). She also feels that by expanding Medicaid, hospitals will start to receive payment for services that would have otherwise not been paid for by those who are uninsured. For those adults with children that are not eligible for Medicaid but their income is not enough for private insurance, KidsCare was an option until it froze in January 2010 due to a cost cutting effort. KidsCare is a state sponsored insurance program for low income families that is part of the federal Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Arizona is currently the only state that does not have a CHIP program which forces families that were on the program to partake in the health care exchange and pay for private insurance or forgo health coverage and be uninsured (Whiteman, M., 2014). If Orlando Furioso can be categorised as Epic Romance, Spenser s The Faerie Queene, here particularly Book 1, would be the Medieval Romance the one with a quest centered narrative. But what is really the difference? First of all, the central theme. In Orlando Furioso, whatever the significance of individual duels, monster fights, and larger battles, the driving force of the poem is love and passion, notably, Orlando s love and passion as the title itself suggests. It is true as far as it goes, since poem is highly allegorical from top to bottom. This fundamental difference between the two poems becomes even more apparent as the reader progresses through the books. The first book of The Faerie Queene is character centered, that is, we barely abandon the protagonists (Redcrosse and Una) throughout the book. Brief sub plots only complement the Quest outlined in the first stanzas of canto 1. This narration is cumulative. Aditionally, Spenser cherishes every moment and episode of his poem. He carefully ennumerates the trees, he suspends the action in order to describe the monster Error that appears early in the path of Redcrosse and Una. At the same time he makes use of adjectives so as not to leave us any doubts as to his attitude to it: ... he [Redcrosse] saw the ugly monster plaine, Halfe like a serpent horribly

Gothic art was a new combination of sculpture, painting, architecture and art. In its truest form, Gothicism is illustrated in Lippo Vanni s 1343 painting Madonna and Child Enthroned. Vanni s work is a symbol of the transitioning time period between the Greco Roman times and the rejuvenation of the art world. There are several historical, economic, and cultural events that caused the people of this time to look at life in a new way, and thus, art to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the Gothic and Renaissance period, there were many other famous painters and sculptors that have created Madonna images. For example, Giotto s 1300 work, Madonna Enthroned has many similarities to Vanni s work. The use of the golden colored background is used to draw the viewer s attention and bring a sense of religion, such as seen in Vanni s work. The composition is also similar to Vanni s work in the sense that the main, and most important figures are the largest and most prominent and the perspective is linear. However, this work differs from Vanni in both complexity and presentation. Giotto uses light and shadow, as well as more continuously moving lines in order to present elements more naturally. For example, the drapes in the illustration seem to fall due to the naturally occurring elements of gravity, making the painting more realistic. Furthering the notion of natural elements, Giotto s figures have imperfect facial features. Another difference between the two works is the presence of depth, seen with the steps that lead to the

This means that minimal losses from the face value would suffice to destroy even the best capitalized derivatives traders (Sivy, 2013). Now, Asian economies begin to tap into the wealth of opportunities provided by derivative transactions as well. Singapore and Malaysia are leaders in the region with dedicated derivatives exchanges through the Singapore Exchange and the Bursa Malaysia respectively. • 29. Defining The Broad Scope of Artist What is art? As I continue to develop my skills and contemplate their purpose, my initial analysis has not only shifted, but expanded in complexity. Acquired through our growth into modernism, art has manifested a certain dependence on theoretical discourse. German Philosopher Arnold Gehlen proposes that art s need for explanation is derived from its difficulty or otherwise inaccessibility to the public; implying that although art is always human, human is not always artist. The exclusivity of the art world supports this notion as it is categorized and defined by a hierarchal pattern of thought development: from initial Spectator, to Theorist, to Artist in a sense, paralleling the core pattern of the human condition and artistic... The theoretically informed spectator is then entrusted by the benighted audience to legitimize the artistry of the piece by providing and outline for interpretation. I imagine these assertive theoretical perspectives are as helpful to the audience as they are irritating to the artist. Theories, by definition are limiting. Once a piece of art is contextualized under the intellectual bias of an established thinker, there is a tendency for further interpretation to become obsolete. It is my belief that in regards to Art theories are counterproductive to their goal. They disseminate a bias that sabotages the individual experience rather than enhancing it. Working hours can also be less towards forty depending on the place of work. Being an auto mechanic is an extremely demanding job not just in skill and know how, but also in the physical aspect of the trade. Some say that as long as the mechanic can lift 50 pounds or more then that is as much strength that they will need. Which is not wrong, but strength is a lot more important than that in this industry. According to eHow contributor Thomma Grindstaff s(n.d.)article Physical Requirements for Auto Mechanics Auto mechanics must have sufficient strength in their arms to effectively use hand tools like hammers and wrenches and to make sure that fasteners are properly secured. The stronger the mechanic the more safe he or she is, because in order to properly and safely handle some tools medium to high amounts of strength are needed. The working environment of an auto repair shop is only safe if the mechanics keep it clean, spills such as oil or other fluids need to either be marked for future clean up, or cleaned right away to avoid slipping. Proper safety equipment should also be used whenever in the garage or around a work area, items such as safety glasses, and gloves should be worn at all times while working. Auto mechanics must always try their hardest to complete the repair on any given vehicle in a timely fashion. As soon as the mechanic is repairing the vehicle they are responsible for that vehicle. This meaning that they are responsible that the repair is done correctly and that no damage is done to the vehicle. There isn t much behind the scenes work that auto mechanics do, because both them and the customer know what exactly they are doing to the

The mechanical and friction parameters are identified from measured signals at low velocities, and with the use of a closed loop identification method. The measured signals are very noised. The number of measurement samples available is very low. The friction model depends on position, velocity and acceleration and includes the Coulomb, Stribeck and viscous frictions. Friction is a natural phenomenon, a tangential reaction force between two surfaces in contact and a significant nonlinear effect that is hard to be precisely modeled. The friction is given by relations (static friction models) between the friction force and the relative velocity between the surfaces in contact. The static models contain Coulomb, viscous or static friction terms, and combination of these three effects, also adding Stribeck effect. More advanced friction models that cover better the friction compensation are the dynamic friction models based on the static friction models [9], an internal variable which provide the friction evolution during

First, the study by Simpson and colleagues found that people are less likely to engage in crimes if the act is seen as dangerous to people or wildlife, or viewed as socially undesirable. Second, potential offenders were likely to not commit crimes if there was a higher chance of receiving a negative informal response. • 39. The Great Debate On Doctor Assisted Suicide Essay The Great Debate on Doctor Assisted Suicide Euthanasia, in today s world, is a word with opposing meanings. Originally, it meant a good death (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Since the legalization of euthanasia around the world in the early 1990 s, the meaning has changed. Several pro euthanasia sites would call it a humane and peaceful way to end the dying process, by either stopping the course of treatment or the use of lethal doses of medications (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Con euthanasia activists are most concerned about the slippery slope idea, being euthanasia is only a half way house to legalizing murder (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal? Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). When discussing a topic so sensitive as death, an invisible line appears between a right way and a wrong way to die. By the end of this paper, the hope is to have an educated discussion regarding some social and political inquiries surrounding euthanasia and doctor assisted suicide. There is a continuous flow of patients who need assistance with recovery and the motivation to finish the task. As with any healthcare profession, physical therapy can be very demanding. Therapists can successfully meet those demands by creating a positive environment, continuously learning and educating others. In addition to possessing these characteristics, my interest in physical therapy comes from my experiences as a collegiate athlete and employee of a therapy clinic/gym. Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants work one on one with patients to reach common short term and long term goals. During this time, it is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was continually a learning curve for me as I was presented with new and exciting challenges every day. These experiences have increased my knowledge and my ability to adapt to changing situations throughout my life and will be an asset in becoming a physical therapist assistant. In addition, a successful therapist is able to educate individuals through recovery by using different methods suitable for each patient. Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants are educators in the field of therapy and it is their job to make the recovery process as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. We know that all patients are not the same. So, this means that all patients will not process information in the same way. As a recipient of a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, I have learned that individuals learn through four basic learning styles (visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic). It is obvious that visual and kinesthetic senses are used during physical therapy but, at times, individuals need a different approach. Through my teaching and coaching experiences, I have had opportunities to demonstrate how to perform skills or tasks to reach all types of learning styles. This is extremely important for proper education through the rehabilitation process. Being able to explain what I am doing and why I am doing it in ways that patients can understand or relate to will be vital to their success and well being after

Introduction The American Revolution is defined as the political turbulence that took place towards the end of eighteenth century when thirteen colonies in America united to attain freedom from the British Empire (Clifford, 2005). The union of the thirteen colonies is now known as the United States of America. According to Clifford (2005), the American Revolutionoccurred because of a series of political, intellectual, and social transformations in the American government and society, which is known as the American Enlightenment. The American Revolution created a variety of opportunities for the American slaves to attain freedom (Waldstreicher, 2004). Slaves were provided with an opportunity to escape their thralldom by being recruited... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An approximate of three thousand slaves escaped from their masters in 1781 when the British invaded Virginia (Blumrosen Blumrosen, 2006). About five thousand and twenty thousand slaves in Georgia and South Carolina, respectively, were freed from bondage as a result of the American Revolution (Clifford, 2005). The Revolution s natural rights philosophy inspired the freed blacks to request the state legislatures to get rid of slavery and Congress to terminate the slave trade (Waldstreicher, 2004). Many of the freed slaves moved to the North because they believed that living conditions were better in the North than in the South. Unfortunately, they experienced many problems in the North, such as lack of jobs, insufficient food, and lack of housing, which forced many of them to go back to the south to work on the cotton plantations for wages (Clifford, 2005). In the South, the freed slaves were assured of food and housing. Therefore, the population of slaves started to grow again in the 1790s and spread into other lands that became the cotton belt (Clifford, 2005). At round 1793, cotton cultivation expanded into large scale as a result of the invention of gin. The slaves in the southern states were used as laborers in spite of the American Revolution s natural rights philosophy (Clifford, 2005). According to Clifford (2005), the slave owners started to improve the lives of their slaves on the cotton plantations after a

  • 45. Current Grading Practices Used By Many Schools No Not... The first thing I expolored is why current grading practices utilized in many schools no not necessarily reflect accurate student achievement. First and foremost, grading varies from teacher to teacher. So if a student gets an easy teacher, grades may be inflated, whereas if a student gets a hard teacher, grades may not look as promising. Teacher values and beliefs on educationplay a major factor in this variance of grades. Consequently, under most current practices where teachers can determine how the will gradestudents, different teachers may grade the exact same course very differently. For example, one teacher may have different categories of grades carry a different weight (ie, tests might be 50% or homework might be 10%, participation or attendance might factor in), while another teacher might grade strictly on a total points basis. Because of these, and other notable differences, I am pleased to see that schools are utilizing an approach which strives to eliminate extraneous factors and which puts more meaning into the grades stu dents earn (Cox, 2011). Over the years, more schools have shifted to a grading system called standard based grading. This system is exactly as it sounds. Students are graded strictly on their mastery of a given set of standards for each course in secondary school, or for each subject taught by an elementary school teacher. The ultimate goal of this system is for grades to actually mean something to parents, students, and

Biblical Models of Servant Leadership CHAPTER TWO THE NEED: BIBILICAL MODELS OF SERVANT LEADERSHIP Introduction There are basic attitudes which we see in the lives of those whom God called to servant leadership in the Bible. These include a serving attitude where the leader sees his[1] primary responsibility to those whom he leads as to serve and develop them to fulfill their God given mandate. The leader serves by putting on a redeeming attitude, like Moses and Joshua. In other words he takes responsibility for those he leads, recognizing needs and reaching out to meet those needs rather than positioning himself for power and prestige. We see these virtues demonstrated by Jesus. His life was completely lived to serve the course of the Father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... God prepared Moses through a process and over time and so Moses had to learn to wait. Usually it is while the leader waits that his mind and perspective is broadened, his life matures in relation to knowing the One who enlists him, he is empowered to withstand the storms of leadership, and is humbled to be able to submit to serve. Moses had to submit to God s way of preparing him for the task of pioneering a leadership for a people that had gone through decades of pain and misery. Charles R. Swindoll particularly referred to Moses desert experience as a means for his preparation for the long lonely way of leadership that was ahead of him. He adds: some of the world s greatest leaders have been people who lived lonely lives. In Moses long career as a leader he would be questioned, attacked, accused, hated, and betrayed. Through it all, he would stand alone. [6] It took the desert experience of preparation for him to stand alone. In the course of Moses preparation to leadership he had to learn that God appoints and directs leaders as He wills, and that the leader has little to say in all that. Swindoll again adds: Moses learned that lesson from failure ... more often than not, God s leadership candidates are aghast at their selection. They look with chagrin at the assignment before them. They can hardly believe their ears when God says, You are the man ; or you are the woman. [7] This came out clearly in
