Critical Analysis of Jiri Kylian’s Choreographic Style in...
Anna Kisselgoff a professional dance critic believes; Jiri Kylian s choreography resulted in scores
of younger choreographers being influenced by the emotional and kinetic thrust of his signature
style, a highly physical fusion of ballet technique with the idiomatic freedom of modern dance. As
an artist, he has been remarkably deep and original. Jiri Kylian s Black and White ballets,
premiered on May 7, 1988, have a number of defining characteristics which create a unique
contemporary style. Elements of movement, theatrical elements and themes are carried through all
six dances which creates a number of motifs throughout the series of danceworks.
All six dances in the black and white ballets are based on sexuality. The male ... Show more content

Another common feature of all the dances is that the music is an irregular rhythm, creating
suspense and standing out as individual. Kylian s choreography uses the ability to isolate and
coordinate different body parts as well as the use of hands to communicate meaning in all of his
dances. Humor is often created as a result in over the top facial expressions like in six dances .
Kylian as a contemporary choreographer uses stillness as a choreographic device in all of his
dances. Another unique element to his dance style is the entrances and exits of the performers.
He explores space s limitations and capabilities making the entrances and exits part of the dance.
In all of Jiri Kylian s dances, the dancers enter and exit the stage into darkness rather than through
wings. The dancers in all Jiri Kylian s Black and white ballets, dance predominately in a large
group, with individuals or pairs breaking off to do their individual movements before soon joining
back in with the group.
The use of theatrical elements in Jiri Kylian s dances is a defining characteristic of his style as a
choreographer. He chooses to use plain, often nude coloured costumes in all his dances, for
example in Sarabanade and Petite mort , the dancers look naked. This is a personal choice and was
done to reinforce his views that dance should be about dancing not the costumes . Also this nude
costuming matches the

Similarities Between Feminism And Feminism
4. The similarities of conflict theory and feminist perspective. There are many similar and
differences of these two theory s. Conflict theory believes that the social behavior is best
understood when looking at different groups and seeing the gaps of power and different resources
like housing, money, and access to services. This theory since the 1960 s has seem to start taking
over the functionalist perspective because of all the civil rights, decisions made in the Vietnam and
the rise of feminism. Feminist perspective is the inequality in genderas the main focal point in their
perspective. Ida wells was the first women to really start this perspective when she wrote the book
Lynching Black Americans. This book led to here coming out... Show more content on

6. Culture is everything that is learned, socially transmitted customs, knowledge. Material objects
and behavior. People preserve their cultures by passing them down from generation to generation.
They are also preserved from society which comes from cultures. Societies are large group of
people with similar cultures that form together to help preserve their cultures. Another way in
which they preserve their heritages is by literature, video recordings and any other means of
expression. George Murdock lists of cultural universals include athletic sports, cooking, dancing,
visiting, personal names, marriage, medicine, religious ritual, funeral ceremonies, sexual
restrictions and trade. All of these different cultural universals are very different and are each
expressed differently in different societies. Like some cultural might allow you to marry whoever
you want while others will choose your partners for you.
8. There are different four different kinds of norms they are formal, informal, mores, and folkways.
Formal norms are written down and specify strict punishments for violating them. Formal norms in
the United States are known as laws. Informal norms are usually understood but they are not
written down. These are the norms that most people know and that things you know are rude are
not right to do so you try not to use them. An example of an informal norm would be talking during
a movie. This is

The Automobile Industry Revisited
Vehicles have always been a sign of high class and pleasure and they have experienced a rich
history. Companies related to cars have always experienced the attention of the people because of
new styles, advancement and technology. Their icon or signs has always been desired for
creativeness and originality. They have always lured the rate devils using shiny, strong shades,
print styles and pictures. To add elegance, the organizations have limited themselves in using their
titles in the signs. If you are running a car company and you do not have businesses all over the
country, then you must understand that your prospective clients lie within the ten kilometres
range. Car fixing, car hire, car clean and car traders are the appropriate company coming under the
outdoor umbrella of car companies. Such companies are not only expensive to run but also hardly
ensure 15 20% of customer commitment. Very few of them become your frequent clients
switching up every time they need any kind of appropriate assistance. This figure improves the
significance of marketing as ever for the marketing and advertising of the company. Marketing is a
evaluate taken by companies for creating attention, item remember and approval of services and

Emergency Department Journal
While working in the emergency department for my clinical this week I could see the staff
members that help in the emergency department. There are RNs, EMTs that have different
certifications like BLS or ALS, a nurse practitioner, and doctors. In the emergency department, they
have staff members from different parts of the hospitalto assess the patients. Radiology comes
down to get X rays on the patients for a closer look at their heart. The patients who come into the
ER with shortness of air, chest pains, numbness in the extremities and dizziness with signs of
fatigue are ordered an X ray. The lab can come to draw the patient s blood or the nursewill draw up
the patient s blood and then send it to the lab. More patients come in with chest pains or shortness

The ER has a variety of patients come through the department, but everything depends on the
severity of the condition to whom is seen first. Patients with chest pains will be seen first rather
than a patient with a stuffy nose. When the patient first walks into the facility they are greeted by
the nurse at the window. The nurse then will call them in and do an assessment which is the
triage part of the ED. Triage is the first person you see when you enter and the one who set you up
in a room. Triage assesses the severity of the patient and they decide along with the facility s policy
who should be seen first. When the patient has been assigned a room a nurse then will enter and

Australia Is A Federal Parliamentary Democracy
Australia is a federal parliamentary democracy. It comes with a variety of people, religions, etc.
They have native people living there known as Aborigines and the Torres Strait Islanders. Australia
does have some major problems with their politics and elder care. Mitch is nineteen years old and
lives with both his parents and grandmother. Mitch lives in Gold Coast, Queensland, which is , the
second largest city in Australia(Stephens). The area Mitch comes from is an urban area that has a
lot of tourism. Mitch explains Australia from the Native aspect and how it differs from the United
States.
One of Australia s major historical event is the first sighting of Australia by Willem Janszoon in
1606. Originally it was known as New Holland l, and then in 1788 British settlement occurred. It
want until January 1, 1901 that Australia gained independence from the federation of UK
colonies (Pearson). It wasn t till after World War II that Australia became increasingly active in
world affairs (Australia). Politically there has been many votes of no confidence that have been
occurring since 1999 in Australia. The last one occurred in 2015 in which liberal leader, Malcolm
Turnbull (Australia) became prime minister in Tony Abbott s place. The occurrence of the many
votes of no confidence have had a major negative effect on the people s opinion of their

The Controversy Over Abortions By Judith Thomson And Don...
To put it simply, an abortion is defined as, the intentional termination of a pregnancy most often
preformed before the third trimester (within weeks 1 28). The controversy over abortions
usually stems from the difficulty between individuals to agree on a set of conditions that would
constitute ones decision, to abort as just. This issue is examined by many philosophers,
particularly, Judith Thomson and Don Marquis. Both philosopher s views loosely encompass the
complex underlying beliefs of those who stand behind the pro life and pro choice arguments.
Tomson and Marquis demonstrate the very distinctively different perspectives one could take on
the issue. Don Marquis suggests that fetuses, being persons, possess the right to a future like
ours and that it would be wrong to intentionally impede on the life that I would have lived if I
had lived out my natural lifespan except for in rare circumstances . While, Tomson asserts that not
all abortions are morally wrong, nor do they violate the victim s right to life , and by having one
that is in no way indicative that a fetus s rights have been violated. Despite the fact that both
philosophers present valid positions, and outline their key differences, Tomson goes far beyond
Marquis efforts by illustrating that the way in which we view abortions ought to be redefined in
order for one to maintain a clear perspective. In Don Marquis An Argument that Abortion is Wrong
he sets out to prove that abortions are unethical

Interventions Of A Case Manager
Two Interventions
Individuals living with HIV/AIDS vary across a wide and diverse spectrum of wealth, races,
religions and cultures, and many may benefit from the support interventions of a case manager.
Case managers can assist individuals in finding additional services and help to live longer and
more comfortably while living with the disease and reduce the risk of them falling through the
cracks.
HIV/AIDS
We have been aware of HIV and AIDS since the 1970s (Miller, 2012), and though there have been
treatments and reduction in the number of people infected, the disease remains. The disease results
in death usually following opportunistic infections as a result of AIDS destruction of the immune
system, but thanks to modern medicine many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this setting the case manager would work best using the role based case management model
and with their primary role to function as a generalist, This role, widely used in human service
delivery, focuses primarily on providing the services that can be delivered by a helper with
knowledge and skills applicable to a range of clients in various settings (Woodside, McClam,
2013. p 75 para 3); following the role of generalist the case manager would likely take on the
roles of counselor, care coordinator, problem solver, and record keeper. Under the role of
counselor and broker an intervention strategy that could be implemented is for the case
manager to meet with the individuals on their caseload and after completing an assessment
create a treatment plan that would help to resolve any barriers that the individual may be facing
that would hinder their ability to attend their medical appointments and strict regimen of
medications, the case manager would then continue to hold regular meetings with their clients
to ensure the individual treatment plan is being adhered to (Wohl, et al. 2011). The problem a
case manager may see while trying to help provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS
under the model of role based manager is that the case manager may be working for an agency
with very limited resources which can then severely restrict the benefit of the program and leave
the case manager feeling frustrated and overwhelmed and the though there may be a wide array
of services that may be needed, the agency can only afford to focus on the cheapest. If the agency
does happen to be well funded then the benefits of role based case management model mean that
the individual will only have the one contact person to reach out to and allows for a better
relationship to develop which makes for a more effective case manager (Woodside, McClam,

Flight Training Research Paper
Jocelyn: Does the GI Bill Cover Flight Training Expenses?
The GI Bill does cover flight training expenses, but there are certain restrictions. Below explains
about the details of what is and what is not covered.
The Basics
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers flight training benefits to service members who
want to achieve advanced pilot qualifications. First, the candidate must already have a private pilot
s license and must have completed the mandatory medical exam. The aviation school must submit
verification of enrollment and proof of graduation to the VA in order for the tuition to be
reimbursed. Only certain types of flight training are covered, such as B747 400, rotary wing, dual
engine and flight engineer programs.
Older Benefit Bills
While service members must adhere to the basic benefit participation requirements, the actual
payment amount depends on the specific bill and aviation school. For example, any 2015
payments which fall under the older the Montgomery Bill (MGIB) will cover service members
enlisted for over three years at $1,789 every month and those enlisted less than three years at $1,454
every month. In 2015, the Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP) reimburses flight
training at three levels: 40 percent, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

$20,000, but in 2016 the amount is approximately $21,000. Service members who attend a public

I was born on January 6, 2004 at Hillcrest Hospital! Growing up I was the adventurous type (I am

play Super Smash Bros everyday. Even though he beat me every time I still loved the game. We
also played Mario Kart on our DS too. Back then I had a DS light and he had a DS. We would do
everything together if It was playing basketball, video games, climbing a tree, going down the hill

The Glass Ceiling, By Charlotte Perkins Stetson
Faces of Women The glass ceiling is something still very present in today s society. Women in
the workforce are constantly trying to break through barriers set by society to break away from
stereotypes. Many women work twice as hard and still get paid significantly less than their male
co workers. They experience sex typing from a young age being pushed to study more feminine
occupations, such as nursing. While on the other hand men are encouraged to seek positions of
power and leadership. If a womandecides to choose an occupation that demands the use of
intellectual thinking, they are given boundaries to which they are limited. Women are seen as
the weaker sex and have been severely over diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or any other type
of mental illness. We see this issue addressed in Virginia Woolf s Professions for Women and
Susanna Kaysen s memoir Girl, Interrupted . Women are taught to that they need to display
certain behavior and uphold a perfect appearance in order to be taken seriously in society.
Charlotte Perkins Stetson uses the art of writing to bring us along the emotional ride of a woman
who s true feelings were labeled unreliable in her story The Yellow Wall Paper . For decades
women have struggled with being treated as subordinates and this continues today. We are able to
see the unjust treatment of women reflected in their salaries, promotions, and general treatment in
the workforce, specifically the medical field. There has been much

Suffering In Sophocles Oedipus The King
From Greece to Rome and to Britain, the world s most renowned philosophers and literary writers
have tackled the concept of suffering. From Sophocles Oedipus the King, to the poetry written by
Jonathan Swift, John Donne and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, multiple literary scholars have
demonstrated suffering throughout the last couple centuries. Whether it may be sexual suffering as
seen in the work of John Donne s His Mistress Going to Bed, and Jonathan Swifts The Lady s

The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in
fact, rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he
did in A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and
misogynistic approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of
Strephon, a young man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer
psychologically from what he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind,
to all the charms of female kind . Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus
the King but is psychologically scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to
Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s
humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia,
Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that audience members are truly aware of
Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for Strephon, his suffering is quite
humorous. After Strephon runs away from Celia s chamber, the reader is reminded of how foolish
his actions and reaction to his discovery of Celia s bodily functions were in fact, they were

once belonged to his Empire and as such he reclaimed many of them through war and trade. As a
consequence this later brought high taxes upon the people of the Byzantine Empire. The fall of
Byzantine was a slow and gradual one. Over many years the wares of conquest and what seemed to

African American Perspective in Early 20th Century America
Throughout the era after the Civil War, Blacks struggled to show themselves and create an identity
outside of the confines of slavery. There were many different ideas that display how Black should
be perceived and how Blacks should carry themselves in order to uplift the race. Uplifting the race
was one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just
three of the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Many authors
commented on these issues and the other issues of the time. Nella Larsen, Booker T. Washington,
and Charles Chestnutt are three authors that share their views with their readers. Miscegenation

We make our customs lightly; once made, like our sins, they grip us in bands of steel, we
become creatures of our creations. By one standard the office boy should have never been born.
Yet he is a son of Adam and came into existence in the way ordained by God from the beginning
of the world (Chestnutt, 24). Chestnutt shows the judge in the same struggle that he leaves his
reader feelings. The customs of society say one thing; yet, true seems to be saying another.
Chestnutt leaves his readers with this dichotomy in his book. Chestnutt balances between
Larsen and Washington s views. He makes his reader think though the reasons why or why not
miscegenation should or should not be allowed. Sexuality was also an issue for Blacks in this
time period. Most black women were classified as either a respectable, almost asexual, lady or a
whore. They were classified as a mammy or a jezebel. There was a dichotomy between what
women were allowed to be. Sexual desire needed to be separate from respectability. And
respectability was highly prized. Larsen s character Helga struggles greatly with this dichotomy
between sexual desire and respectability. She has been taught to be a respectable woman in order to
uplift the race and that black women should be perceived in a certain way. Larsen writes of Helga
and Dr. Anderson s conversation about Helga s upbringing. Dr. Anderson says, Perhaps I can best

The Tyranny Of White Majority Essay
The United States, even though considered the land of freedom, has been struggling with lingering
racism and discrimination throughout the 19th and 20th century. Democratic reform throughout the
century were implanted to eliminate the tyranny of the white majority Yet many scholars like
Tocqueville, Fredrick Harris and WEB DuBois have challenged these results. The reality is that the
tyranny of white majority has continued throughout the 18th to the 21st century resulting in a
society that has suppressed and constantly failed to integrate African Americaninto the white society
by neglecting the race, using natural prejudice, race neutral policies, and laws that benefited whites
more than African Americans.
Even before the 13th amendment and emancipation of slaves, small reforms in the northern
states were being implemented to create a true free society. One would argue that these reforms
were the first steps of a liberal reform that would lead to the eventual equality amongst the two
races but what is forgotten is that even though reforms were passed the white majority had a
natural prejudice. Tocqueville explains what makes the natural prejudice was the disgrace the
African American ethnicity received by being forced as slaves. This slavery was based on race
rather than being like ancient slavery which had nothing to do the face of a person (PG 400). The
African Americans who were considered free during the that were still disgraced because as
Tocqueville said free

inexorably linked for at least the foreseeable future. This paper discusses the history, objectives,
appropriate clientele, efficacy, and the other benefits, and short comings, of this therapeutic
/counseling modality and its relevance to my present career direction, College Counseling.
Cognitive behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Gestalt applications of brief therapy/counseling
methods will be addressed.

Short term therapy and counseling have consistently proven to be a powerful, efficient, and
effective approach for resolving human emotional and behavioral problems, and it is a major force
in the field of psychotherapy and counseling today (Saposnek, 1984). Although the overwhelming
emphasis on brief counseling/therapy in the mental health system is a relatively recent
phenomenon, the concept itself is at least as old as Freud. Freud originally viewed psychoanalysis
as a research tool that had powerful therapeutic applications.
Although he tried to limit his early analysis to six to twelve months, he had hoped that in time it
would be superseded by more efficient methods (Saposnek, 1984; Nugent, 1994; Phillips, 1985).
According to Small (1979), Historically, it is clear that Freud first sought a quick cure; when he
began he could not foresee the developments that would lengthen the psychoanalytic process. Who
would have believed that Freud would have preferred a brief therapy over the open ended, time
unlimited therapy process that classical psychoanalysis had become. Social changes brought on by
the pressures of World War II led to a great demand for short term interventions. The stress related
emergencies of World War II necessitated the development of early forms of crisis intervention

Allegory
At Preston high school, it was like any other day, kids being bullied and drugs being used. This
kind of stuff went on everyday inside of Preston High school, but this school was all they had in
the town of Rapid City and the people got used to it. It was a more southern town, located in
Alabama. Many words can describe what goes on there; hatred, abuse, and slacking. But the
school is not all bad, as they had good people there, but the kind of people that were bullied.
There was a girl named Jenna that was always a bully, because she was the popular girl, with the
thought of being better than everyone else, especially with her amazing beauty and physique.

Karma is also one of my fantasies, as it is not real, but people still believe in it. Also, a talking

dangerous. The eternal child is the bullied kid, because he does not realize what is going on. The

Lucid Dreaming Definition
In the article, The Lucid Dreaming Frequency and Alarm Snooze Button, Lucid Dreaming was
first introduced by Van Eeden. Lucid Dreaming refers to the term in which a person asleep is
aware that they are sleeping. Edeen figured out that approximately 50% of the general population
have had at least one experience of having a lucid dream, while 20% of the general population
experience lucid dreams on a daily basis. Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the
stage of sleep rapid eye movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal.
During REM sleep the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex usually deactivates, but the occurrence of lucid
dreams allows the cortex to be active, which presents the awareness of the dreams. Research...

The findings helped show that lucid dreams have a positive correlation with the pushing snooze on
the alarm clock. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship that is a positive
correlation of lucid dreaming and the alarm clock present in the study. Waking up in the middle of
the night to push the snooze button makes the occurrence of lucid dreams higher. The frequency
use of the snooze button has an association with the lucid dream frequency. In future and further
studies they should determine whether experimentally or/and longitudinally the alarm clock
snooze button can induce the lucid dreams during the alarm snooze buttom periods or at other
times during the REM sleep. These present studies have found the brain correlates of the lucid
dreams in the alarm clock snooze period may have not only occurred during the stages of REM
sleep, but also include wake like characteristics of electroencephalogram. One may conclude that
even though this study was the most successful to help show a way to induce lucid dreaming, as

Sophocles vs Euripides Essay
Sophocles vs Euripides Sophocles and Euripides versions of Electra carry, among many
similarities, a central theme of revenge. The characters, Electra and Orestes, must reunite to avenge
their father s murder. Misfortunately, in both versions the just solution leads the siblings to
destroying their own mother. Both versions of Electra can be compared to Aeschylus Libation
Bearers. However, they are both more dramatic, and more similar to each other than if each Electra
was individually compared to the play by Aeschylus. The biggest differences between the two
versions of Electra, are found within the characters and their development. I also believe that, the
differences we see in these characters personalities between the... Show more content on

Another example is that Electra is told that Orestes is dead. One may wonder why Electra has to
experience more grief as opposed to, for example, immediately knowing Orestes was near her
and joining forces to get revenge. To my surprise, when Electra learned that Orestes was alive and
close by, she did not question him about why he lied even to her. Instead, she was filled with joy. I
believe Sophocles uses the supposed death of Orestes to cause a reaction in Electra, in turn
enhancing character development. Euripides gives Electra s character power by making her more
decisive. He does not rely on the other characters as much to cause Electra s reactions. Electra
has more internal initiative. She pushed for Orestes to kill Clytamnestra, even when Orestes was
having second doubts, I myself will arrange my mother s death (Euripides, 45). Both Sophocles
and Euripides give a sense of more free will to the characters by reducing divine interventions. In
both versions Orestes has come from an oracle, and was told he should supply justice to his father
s murderers. This is different from the Libation Bearers. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes not only
comes with advice from the oracle, but with an ultimatum. Apollo told him to avenge his father or
live a life of torment and a shameful death. This makes the gruesome murder and revenge seem like

The Effects on Children Who Have Been Raised in a Single Parent Household
Introduction
Single parent house hold s can have many different social, mental, and emotional effects on the

Analysis Of The Movie White Liar By Miranda Lambert
Picking Up the Pieces Picking Up the Pieces is the film being produced to document my life. I
have never put much thought into how my life would be portrayed or even documented.
However, as I sit here thinking about what music I would use for the soundtrack, I start thinking
about all of the things that I have been through in my life. All of those hurdles that I had to climb
over and the songs that have so much meaning start to flow through my mind. There are many
songs to choose from, but I narrow them down to the top four that I feel set the mood of how I
have picked up the pieces of my life from a tragic divorce and moved on to now being a thriving
non traditional college student seeking to become a Hospitality Manager. The first song that I
have chosen is White Liar by Miranda Lambert because this song represents what I went through
during my very tragic divorce. Lambert is an American country music artist who co wrote this
song with Natalie Hemby. The song was released in August of 2009. The reason I chose this
song is because the words remind me of what I went through when I found out that my husband
of six years had been cheating on me and how I felt. Lambert sings, Hey white liar, the truth
comes out a little at a time and it spreads just like a fire. My husband had been cheating on me and
the entire time, I sensed something was wrong, but he continued to tell me that I was wrong.
According to him, they were just friends. In reality, I too was also a white liar

Exposing the Common Myths about Swimming
Swimming involves numerous techniques, strategies and practices. Different individuals think and
feel differently about swimming. Consequently, the concepts, notions and ideas regarding
swimming vary greatly. If you have been learning and practicing swimming for quite some time
now, you must have come across contradictory opinions and judgments about both swimming and
swimmers. Now, while it is perfectly OK to hold opinions, it is in no way, desirable for a swimmer
to believe in any of the myths surrounding swimming. Since most people commit the mistake of
drawing conclusions depending on their personal experiences, the myths that make their rounds are
in plenty. As a swimmer, you should know only what is right and then decide, depending on
suitability. So, here s busting some of the common myths about swimming for you to have clear

Swimmers using paddles end up exerting too much pressure on their rotator cuff muscles as well as
the triceps. Another disadvantage of practicing with the paddles is that when you stop using them,
you are most likely to swing off right at the back of the set. So, the lesser you use paddles, the
better you are as a swimmer. Consult your expert and learn about alternative stroke styles and
techniques in order to improve your ability of pulling in the waters.
Kicking Does Not Help in Forward Propulsion
This is perhaps the greatest misconception about swimming techniques that have become popular.
The importance of kicks often remains unrecognized by the swimmers. The reality is just the
opposite. Legs help in propelling ahead just as much as the arms do. In fact, swimming experts
with years of coaching are of the opinion that the faster you kick, the faster you are in the waters.

Personal Theology Paper
Introduction My personal general theology is based on the scripture John 3:16, For God so loved
the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but
have everlasting life. This has always impacted the way that I have talked about God to others. I ve
spoken about Godin a manner of love because He loves us enough to give His only begotten son for
our salvation. God loves us enough to make our process toward salvation easier by allowing our
requirement to merely believe in Him. God loves us enough to allow our souls not to perish, if we
believe in Him. God s love is the foundation of my personal theology. In this project I will cover

Millions of Americans women and men have a secret obsession. They re obsessed with how

could not find one person that resembled Cheerleading Barbie or Surfboarding

The Existence Of Gender Discrimination
The existence of gender discrimination in workplaces is not under dispute (Acker, 2006). In
virtually all societies across the world, women are known to be in a lower position in labour
market than men. Women are overrepresented in positions at the bottom echelons of
organisations; they have less status, prestige, power and authority on the job. Besides, women
are segregated into roles and jobs that offer poorer rewards and have fewer opportunities for
progression to positions of power (Walby, 1988). Women receive less pay and rewards than men,
even if they work in similar jobs with similar levels of responsibility and requiring a similar level
of ability (Cockburn, 1992). Although it has been argued that the poorer labour market position...

Neo classical economists explain discrimination in labour market in two ways: through the
notions of the taste for discrimination and through statistical discrimination (Sawyer, 1989They
argue that employers exhibit prejudices against certain groups based on their personal belief
system. In the case of women, it is suggested that employers discriminate based on the belief that
women are not as capable as men in certain roles. An excellent example of this is provided in a
litigation case that was brought against the financial services and auditing company
Pricewaterhouse Coopers (Case, 2014). Ann Hopkins took her employer to court when she was
passed over for promotion in favour of a male colleague in spite of the fact that objective records
showed that her performance on the job was far superior to that man s. The court found that
Pricewaterhouse Coopers had discriminated against Hopkins simply because she was a woman,
and they did not believe that she would be capable in the new role.
Neo classical economists, however, state that this form of discrimination is logical for employers
(Sawyer, 1989). This is due to the presence of uncertainty and asymmetric information, as well as
the fact that employers are rational in their decision making. Although information is available in
CVs, application forms, and other selection mechanisms, employers are still unable to be certain
that any new employees will fully meet the criteria for

Themes Found In Disney Princess Movies
Many can relate to the classic instance in which a young child does a strange act, such as body
slamming his brother like John Cena, with the parent knowing exactly where he learned it from:
his favorite television show or movie. Let s face it: children are smarter than we often give them
credit for. They observe the patterns and themes they see in movies and other media, using them to
draw conclusions about the world around them. At surface level, this is not necessarily bad. There
is nothing wrong about learning something from an electronic source, even if it is only a wrestling

This is shown in the movie Sleeping Beauty, in which Aurora is only saved because of the prince s

improves her appearance in order to get Prince Charming, a man who has never even spoken to

wrong with being beautiful or needing help, making external beauty a primary ambition is
dangerous for young girls. Some might falsely assume that beauty is the most important trait to
have, since many movies are centered around this idea. If girls believe that they need to be
beautiful in order to be valuable in society, this could cause them to feel even more insecure about
their appearances if they do not look like their favorite princesses. Furthermore, beautiful girls

I found, through further research, that sexual abuse includes more than bodily contact. Which
means, having a child view pornographic material is considered sexual abuse. A HelpGuide.Org
article, Child Abuse and Neglect, explained that sexual abuse victims feel guilty and shameful for
the abuse they have endured. Can you believe that? They are made to feel as though their word
versus the abuser s word means nothing. I have often heard that men/women that sexually abuse
children are most often a family member or friend of the family. Think about that for a minute.
How are children supposed to process what is happening to them by this trusted adult they have
known (probably) most of their lives? According to eSchoolToday, children who are abused
sexually tend to show some physical symptoms (hiding, STDs, and genital pain), health symptoms
(anorexia, bowel disorders, and repeated headaches/stomach aches), and behavioral symptoms
(substance abuse, withdraw, and decreased school performance/participation). Again, the long term
effects of this type of abuse mimic the other two mentioned thus far. Melissa and Joshua Hall,
however, provided some additional effects in their article entitled, The Long Term Effects of
Childhood Sexual Abuse: Counseling Implications. The article reiterated that stress and anxiety
play a role long term. They also explained how former children of sexual abuse tend to act one of
two ways about sexual activity in their teen and/or adult years. They either overindulge...OR...act
completely uninterested. Again, every child will respond differently to abusive situations. Trying
to cope with the debilitating effects of abuse will be discussed in the pages to come, but neglect

As Greg Smith points out, Filmmakers work hard to exclude the random from their fictional
worlds. the set design, story, and genre in The Book of Eli were all very deliberately decided to
give the viewer a sense of escapism while still analyzing society. The movie very much follows the
mold for action movies, but where the film differs is where it shines. The film establishes religion as
the moral marker for viewers; we are meant to align and relate with Denzel s character sense of
justification and righteousness while portraying Oldman s character as The Bad The Villain for
wanting the same, but for selfish reasons. The film is very much a reflection of American
Christian ideology and the societies current fears and hopes. North American culture tends to be
very aligned with religion and one of society s greatest fears are religious leaders manipulating
society in the hope of self fulfilment. We also fear war, and destruction the idea of something

contaminants or normal flora that is unrelated to the infection, from influencing the results. The
manner in which a specimen is taken can influence the accuracy of the results and therefore skew
the appropriate treatment. There are specific guidelines for how each type specimen is collected,
handled, stored and cultured. General aseptic procedures should always be utilized, such as using
sterile collection containers to prevent contamination from the environment. It is also vital when
collecting a specimen, to only gather a sample from the infected area, as the surrounding areas may
contain other bacteriaor normal biota. Taking a specimen aseptically helps to ensure there in no
cross contamination and helps to isolate the pathogen causing the infection. Using a catheter from
the bladder to get a urine sample, is an example of taking an aseptic sample.... Show more content

When collecting nonsterile specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum on selective media, there
are specific guidelines for not only the collection process but transportation and storage procedures
as well, since the samples can begin to deteriorate at room temperature. A special swab and transport
system ensures the specimen can be maintained in a stable condition for several hours. This
transport system for the specimen, is a nonnutritive maintenance media which ensures the microbes
can survive but not grow, a buffering system and an anaerobic environment that prevents the
destruction of oxygen sensitive bacteria. With nonsterile specimens containing a multitude of
bacterial species, culturing them on selective media, will encourage the growth of only the suspected

Be careful who you trust, the devil was once an angel. (Unknown). Honest Iago, good Iago, many
names for the character who created so much chaos throughout Shakespeare s classic tragedy

Desdemona, take everything from Rodrigo, and the effort to destroy Cassio.
Othello had much respect towards Iago and put much trust into him. Iago was very good a hiding

Little by little Iago was able to push Othello to the point where he was no longer the person we
saw at the beginning of the play. Othello killed Desdemona because he though Iago was his
friend and would never lie. Iago was a very toxic friend since the start and knew exactly how the
story would end because he had everyone wrapped around his finger.
Rodrigo was another victim that payed for Iago s wrath towards Othello, envy towards Cassio,
and overall greed for money and power, all of which are deadly sins. Iago charmed Rodrigo with
the idea that he could have his one true desire; the fair Desdemona. Iago never cared for Rodrigo
and though he was pathetic as did the audience because he was constantly whiny. Rodrigo was
also gullible and very desperate to win Desdemona s affection. In act 2 scene 3 Rodrigo is very
emotional over that fact he feels he will never get Desdemona because Iago is not giving him
results and ends up saying I will incontinently drown myself. . Iago again out of self need helps
Rodrigo so he will not kill himself. The reason he stops Rodrigo is because he is the source of
his money, and he knows he will need him in the future for his plan. He does end up becoming
part of his plan in helping destroy Cassio, but Rodrigo dies at the hands of Iago so that Iago
would look like a hero and the one person who knew his plan is dead. Iago is a master of
manipulation and which lead to Rodrigo ending in a very unfortunate situation.

Thereafter, on January 21, Clifford wrote to the District expressing his concern that Five Star s
bid was so low nearly $300,000 lower than the then current contract that it was questionable
whether it would be able to maintain the drivers wage and benefit levels, and the safe and
effective service, then provided by First Student. Because of this a letter was sent out from the
school board to Five Star Bus Company, saying that all employees must be paid the union wage
and other items with no response. The school board also talked and had them write letters of the
former Five Star employees, who were also trying to get back on board with the bus company if
they are awarded the contract. After Five Star was awarded the bus services contract, seventeen
former First Student drivers who were members of the Union bargaining unit applied for a
position at Five Star. Of these, only six were hired. The company admits that the sole reason the
other eleven applicants were not hired or even considered was because they had written letters
critical of Five Star. On August 14, the Union filed a charge against Five Star with the NLRB
alleging that by failing to hire former unionized Belchertown bus drivers, the Company had

Spider-Man
Nearly all heroes are faced with a variety of inconceivable tasks which in turn help to overcome
obstacles that the character may face. In Spider Man, Peter Parker is forced to overcome these
impediments so that he can help protect the people in his city. The task that first illustrates this
quest is Spider Mans revenge on the man who killed his uncle and committed robbery. To catch
this criminal, though, Spider Man has to learn how to use his mind: thinking quickly and on the
spot. Not only does it take courage for Spider Man to defeat this criminal, it takes quick reflexes
that only his spidey senses can offer him. In the end, Spider Man tricks the man and is successful in
turning him into the police. Another example of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the hero that he is, Spider Man decides to save both the children and Mary Jane. A large
battle between Spider Man and the Green Goblin ensues, with the Green Goblin s eventual death,
and Spider Man s massive injuries being the result. Spider Man finally defeats the enemy, in his
final ordeal, saving New York from cold blooded villainy for a while. Therefore, by completing,
undergoing, and overcoming extremely difficult tasks such as battling with the enemy and saving
the ones he loves, the film Spider Man shows that it is part of the quest archetype.
Body paragraph 2:
A large part of any story, especially one with the quest archetype, is love. Since the first time he
sees Mary Jane at the age of six, Peter Parker (Spider Man) has loved her. At this time, Peter even
asked his aunt: Aunt May, Aunt May, is that an angel? This truly displays how much Spider Man
adores Mary Jane. In fact, Peter will do anything to help her. For example, near the beginning of
the film, Peter saves Mary Jane from slipping in the cafeteria. Because of his powerful love of
Mary Jane, Peter also faces consequences, though. His enemies, such as the Goblin Goblin, can
manipulate him using Mary Jane as a bribe, or ransom.

Evaluation Of A Safety Management System Essay
AVN 1106 Major Assignment
Lincoln Wilkins
U1086146
Date of Submission 16/09/2016
Abstract:
With the expectation from CASA for newly established flight operations to design and implement
a Safety Management System (SMS) the task has been set to do so for an airline with 12 regional
aircraft and 200 employees. The aim of an SMS is to monitor and manage the overall safety
operations that occur within an airline. The use of an SMS has proven extremely successful as it
solidifies the communication between operators and management. An SMS consists of four (4) main
components: Safety assurance; Safety risk management; safety promotion; and safety policy. Each
of these components plays a major role in ensuring the safe operation of an airline.
Introduction:
With the aviation industry exponentially expanding it is essential to ensure that those safety
standards which are in place are working effectively. It is primarily the responsibility of the Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure that his or her airline is not only profitable but is also safe. The
balance between production and protection is a fine line and as such there need to be systems in
place to ensure production is not outweighing protection.
Airlines in the developed world endeavour to not only meet, but to exceed the expectations of the
standards set by regulatory bodies within the aviation industry. This can be done through the
implementation of an SMS as well as by revising and enhancing

The Lemon Test, which was created in a case called Lemon V. Kurtzman, consists of three prongs
(Speich 275). They are that governmental action be supported by a secular purpose, that it not
have the principal or primary effect of advancing or inhibiting religion, and that it not foster an
excessive governmental entanglement with religion. (qtd. in Conkle). In other words, the first
prong requires the court to question the intent of the government or group in charge of creating
the policy; the second prong asks the court to determine the result of the policy and its effects on
religion, and the last prong asks the court to not complicate the dynamic of the church and the
state (Speich 275). The Endorsement test is used after the first two prongs of the lemon test have
been verified. First occurring in Lynch V. Donnelly, the Endorsement test states that the
government cannot endorse, favor, promote, or prefer any religious belief or practice (Speich
277). The test asks the judges if the policy in question merely looks like it endorses religion. The
Coercion test, which is sometimes used instead of the lemon test such as in Lee v. Weisman case,
asks if the policy tricks members of the minority or dissenting religion into participating
(Schweitzer; Speich 278).

Bunny by Lisa McCue, Quiet Bunny learns to find his voice through a series of trial and error.
Finding one s own special uniqueness is a step toward finding oneself. There are many different
ways to achieve personal enlightenment, including talking to trusted family and friends, not
trying to mimic others, and being proud of oneself. In Heather Henson s novel Dream of Night,
Shiloh finds her own personality with the help of a very special horse. Shiloh is a hardened
foster child who meets an old and abused racehorse. Her relationship with the racehorse changes
her demeanor and lets the other side of her speak up. While she is sassy and rude at the beginning
of the book, by the end she is grinning back. A little. Not too much, not yet... (Henson, 207). She
has found her true voice, the personshe is meant to be by enlisting the help of a trusted friend. Other
people can bring out the best in people and talk them through difficult times. Shiloh is also one step

But on his way back to the clearing, Quiet Bunny jumps on a log and soon enough he is

Youth Rebelliion In The 1950s Essay
History Essay By Ben Roberson
During the 1950 s there was significant social change taking place in America. Young people
were dissatisfied with certain conservative aspects of society and their conduct reflected this.
They embraced the rock and roll culture, the new style of music and also the new styles of
dancing and dress that were associated with it shocked the older more conservative people.
Young people were also quick to protest against the controversial issues of the 1950 s. Civil
Rights, the Vietnam War and general politics provided fuel for an already blazing fire. Mass
production meant cheaper motorcycles and cars, providing the young people with freedom that was
previously not with in their reach. A barrier formed between... Show more content on

Around this time young people began to break away from their parents. Prior to this each
generation had grown up treating their parents with the utmost respect and modelling their
behaviour and views on their parents. This change was made easier by the freedom brought
about by access to a car, which lead to increased independence. After the war there was huge
economic growth in America, this coupled with mass production of automobiles made transport
relatively cheap most families were able to afford a car. The children of these families were
often allowed to take out the family car, granting them more freedom to go out with friends and
more privacy for couples. This new show of independence was also evident in the young people s
reaction to social issues that were taking place. Many of the young war veterans returning from the
Second World War and the Korean Warfound it very hard to fit back into society. Many of these
veterans got heavily into both drug taking and social protest. However it wasn t only the youth
returning from war who were dissatisfied with the governments reaction to a number of issues that
young people felt very passionate about, namely civil rights and the onset of the Vietnam War.
Inspired by the successes of some of the more prominent black leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther

The Pros And Cons Of The Kantian Universalization Principle
Comedian Robert Orben joked, There is so much pollution in the air now that if it weren t for our
lungs there d be no place to put it all. As Homer Simpson famously said, this joke is funny because
it s true. The pollution of Earth has been going on for decades, but recently scientists have been
pushing very hard for practices that do not harm our planet. In 2006, the first Environmental
Performance Index (EPI) was published, ranking countries on how well they are protecting Earth
with their policies and practices. Who doesn t love a little competition? One would think America
would love a competition, looking at their competitive market economy. But America is not faring

If, however, the result of everyone s following your action will be very undesirable, do not follow
through with the plan. Considering the United States ranking in the Environmental Performance
Index, the Kantian Universalization Principle must not play a large role in the American
environmental policy. An illustration of the lack of Kantian ethics is the Republican Party
controlling Congress blocking efforts by the Environmental Protection Agency to keep water meant
for drinking, recreation, and development safe. After the Clean Water Rule was released, the House
and Senate passed a resolution against the regulations. Congress thought it gave the government too
much control over water supplies for farmers, landowners, and developers who would now need a
permit just to dig a ditch. President Obama vetoed the resolution. Apply the Kantian
Universalization Principle and imagine if every country in the world tried to stop regulations for
keeping water

  • 2. Critical Analysis of Jiri Kylian’s Choreographic Style in... Anna Kisselgoff a professional dance critic believes; Jiri Kylian s choreography resulted in scores of younger choreographers being influenced by the emotional and kinetic thrust of his signature style, a highly physical fusion of ballet technique with the idiomatic freedom of modern dance. As an artist, he has been remarkably deep and original. Jiri Kylian s Black and White ballets, premiered on May 7, 1988, have a number of defining characteristics which create a unique contemporary style. Elements of movement, theatrical elements and themes are carried through all six dances which creates a number of motifs throughout the series of danceworks. All six dances in the black and white ballets are based on sexuality. The male ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another common feature of all the dances is that the music is an irregular rhythm, creating suspense and standing out as individual. Kylian s choreography uses the ability to isolate and coordinate different body parts as well as the use of hands to communicate meaning in all of his dances. Humor is often created as a result in over the top facial expressions like in six dances . Kylian as a contemporary choreographer uses stillness as a choreographic device in all of his dances. Another unique element to his dance style is the entrances and exits of the performers. He explores space s limitations and capabilities making the entrances and exits part of the dance. In all of Jiri Kylian s dances, the dancers enter and exit the stage into darkness rather than through wings. The dancers in all Jiri Kylian s Black and white ballets, dance predominately in a large group, with individuals or pairs breaking off to do their individual movements before soon joining back in with the group. The use of theatrical elements in Jiri Kylian s dances is a defining characteristic of his style as a choreographer. He chooses to use plain, often nude coloured costumes in all his dances, for example in Sarabanade and Petite mort , the dancers look naked. This is a personal choice and was done to reinforce his views that dance should be about dancing not the costumes . Also this nude costuming matches the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Similarities Between Feminism And Feminism 4. The similarities of conflict theory and feminist perspective. There are many similar and differences of these two theory s. Conflict theory believes that the social behavior is best understood when looking at different groups and seeing the gaps of power and different resources like housing, money, and access to services. This theory since the 1960 s has seem to start taking over the functionalist perspective because of all the civil rights, decisions made in the Vietnam and the rise of feminism. Feminist perspective is the inequality in genderas the main focal point in their perspective. Ida wells was the first women to really start this perspective when she wrote the book Lynching Black Americans. This book led to here coming out... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6. Culture is everything that is learned, socially transmitted customs, knowledge. Material objects and behavior. People preserve their cultures by passing them down from generation to generation. They are also preserved from society which comes from cultures. Societies are large group of people with similar cultures that form together to help preserve their cultures. Another way in which they preserve their heritages is by literature, video recordings and any other means of expression. George Murdock lists of cultural universals include athletic sports, cooking, dancing, visiting, personal names, marriage, medicine, religious ritual, funeral ceremonies, sexual restrictions and trade. All of these different cultural universals are very different and are each expressed differently in different societies. Like some cultural might allow you to marry whoever you want while others will choose your partners for you. 8. There are different four different kinds of norms they are formal, informal, mores, and folkways. Formal norms are written down and specify strict punishments for violating them. Formal norms in the United States are known as laws. Informal norms are usually understood but they are not written down. These are the norms that most people know and that things you know are rude are not right to do so you try not to use them. An example of an informal norm would be talking during a movie. This is ... There are RNs, EMTs that have different certifications like BLS or ALS, a nurse practitioner, and doctors. In the emergency department, they have staff members from different parts of the hospitalto assess the patients. Radiology comes down to get X rays on the patients for a closer look at their heart. The patients who come into the ER with shortness of air, chest pains, numbness in the extremities and dizziness with signs of fatigue are ordered an X ray. • 7. The Controversy Over Abortions By Judith Thomson And Don... To put it simply, an abortion is defined as, the intentional termination of a pregnancy most often preformed before the third trimester (within weeks 1 28). The controversy over abortions usually stems from the difficulty between individuals to agree on a set of conditions that would constitute ones decision, to abort as just. This issue is examined by many philosophers, particularly, Judith Thomson and Don Marquis. Both philosopher s views loosely encompass the complex underlying beliefs of those who stand behind the pro life and pro choice arguments. Tomson and Marquis demonstrate the very distinctively different perspectives one could take on the issue. Don Marquis suggests that fetuses, being persons, possess the right to a future like ours and that it would be wrong to intentionally impede on the life that I would have lived if I had lived out my natural lifespan except for in rare circumstances . While, Tomson asserts that not all abortions are morally wrong, nor do they violate the victim s right to life , and by having one that is in no way indicative that a fetus s rights have been violated. Despite the fact that both philosophers present valid positions, and outline their key differences, Tomson goes far beyond Marquis efforts by illustrating that the way in which we view abortions ought to be redefined in order for one to maintain a clear perspective. In Don Marquis An Argument that Abortion is Wrong he sets out to prove that abortions are unethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interventions Of A Case Manager Two Interventions Individuals living with HIV/AIDS vary across a wide and diverse spectrum of wealth, races, religions and cultures, and many may benefit from the support interventions of a case manager. Case managers can assist individuals in finding additional services and help to live longer and more comfortably while living with the disease and reduce the risk of them falling through the cracks. HIV/AIDS We have been aware of HIV and AIDS since the 1970s (Miller, 2012), and though there have been treatments and reduction in the number of people infected, the disease remains. The disease results in death usually following opportunistic infections as a result of AIDS destruction of the immune system, but thanks to modern medicine many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this setting the case manager would work best using the role based case management model and with their primary role to function as a generalist, This role, widely used in human service delivery, focuses primarily on providing the services that can be delivered by a helper with knowledge and skills applicable to a range of clients in various settings (Woodside, McClam, 2013. p 75 para 3); following the role of generalist the case manager would likely take on the roles of counselor, care coordinator, problem solver, and record keeper. Under the role of counselor and broker an intervention strategy that could be implemented is for the case manager to meet with the individuals on their caseload and after completing an assessment create a treatment plan that would help to resolve any barriers that the individual may be facing that would hinder their ability to attend their medical appointments and strict regimen of medications, the case manager would then continue to hold regular meetings with their clients to ensure the individual treatment plan is being adhered to (Wohl, et al. 2011). The problem a case manager may see while trying to help provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS under the model of role based manager is that the case manager may be working for an agency with very limited resources which can then severely restrict the benefit of the program and leave the case manager feeling frustrated and overwhelmed and the though there may be a wide array of services that may be needed, the agency can only afford to focus on the cheapest. If the agency does happen to be well funded then the benefits of role based case management model mean that the individual will only have the one contact person to reach out to and allows for a better relationship to develop which makes for a more effective case manager (Woodside, McClam, ... Lessons we can learn/take throughout life! Stories that inspire us every day to work harder. To inspire us to take on the hard challenges we face each day. To inspire us to grab on/hold on to our dreams. To believe in our dreams and to achieve our dreams throughout life! To not let anyone bring us down and tell us what we can and can t do. To be ourselves and not someone we re not. Many stories have good and bad endings. We remember some stories while others drift away. Stories that have impacted our lives mentally or physically. This is the story of my life, no lies or tricks, this is who I am. I was born on January 6, 2004 at Hillcrest Hospital! Growing up I was the adventurous type (I am still from this day)! For instance, instead of playing with Barbies I would climb a huge tree and get stuck in it! As I child, I loved to play video games on my old GameCube. My brother and I would play Super Smash Bros everyday. Even though he beat me every time I still loved the game. We also played Mario Kart on our DS too. Back then I had a DS light and he had a DS. We would do everything together if It was playing basketball, video games, climbing a tree, going down the hill on wagon etc. We were best friends creating memories we ll never forget! • 11. The Glass Ceiling, By Charlotte Perkins Stetson Faces of Women The glass ceiling is something still very present in today s society. Women in the workforce are constantly trying to break through barriers set by society to break away from stereotypes. Many women work twice as hard and still get paid significantly less than their male co workers. They experience sex typing from a young age being pushed to study more feminine occupations, such as nursing. While on the other hand men are encouraged to seek positions of power and leadership. If a womandecides to choose an occupation that demands the use of intellectual thinking, they are given boundaries to which they are limited. Women are seen as the weaker sex and have been severely over diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or any other type of mental illness. We see this issue addressed in Virginia Woolf s Professions for Women and Susanna Kaysen s memoir Girl, Interrupted . Women are taught to that they need to display certain behavior and uphold a perfect appearance in order to be taken seriously in society. Charlotte Perkins Stetson uses the art of writing to bring us along the emotional ride of a woman who s true feelings were labeled unreliable in her story The Yellow Wall Paper . For decades women have struggled with being treated as subordinates and this continues today. We are able to see the unjust treatment of women reflected in their salaries, promotions, and general treatment in the workforce, specifically the medical field. There has been much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in fact, rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he did in A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and misogynistic approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of Strephon, a young man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer psychologically from what he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind, to all the charms of female kind . Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus the King but is psychologically scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that audience members are truly aware of Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for Strephon, his suffering is quite humorous. After Strephon runs away from Celia s chamber, the reader is reminded of how foolish his actions and reaction to his discovery of Celia s bodily functions were in fact, they were ... African American Perspective in Early 20th Century America Throughout the era after the Civil War, Blacks struggled to show themselves and create an identity outside of the confines of slavery. There were many different ideas that display how Black should be perceived and how Blacks should carry themselves in order to uplift the race. Uplifting the race was one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just three of the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Many authors commented on these issues and the other issues of the time. Nella Larsen, Booker T. Washington, and Charles Chestnutt are three authors that share their views with their readers. • 19. The Tyranny Of White Majority Essay The United States, even though considered the land of freedom, has been struggling with lingering racism and discrimination throughout the 19th and 20th century. Democratic reform throughout the century were implanted to eliminate the tyranny of the white majority Yet many scholars like Tocqueville, Fredrick Harris and WEB DuBois have challenged these results. The reality is that the tyranny of white majority has continued throughout the 18th to the 21st century resulting in a society that has suppressed and constantly failed to integrate African Americaninto the white society by neglecting the race, using natural prejudice, race neutral policies, and laws that benefited whites more than African Americans. Even before the 13th amendment and emancipation of slaves, small reforms in the northern states were being implemented to create a true free society. One would argue that these reforms were the first steps of a liberal reform that would lead to the eventual equality amongst the two races but what is forgotten is that even though reforms were passed the white majority had a natural prejudice. Tocqueville explains what makes the natural prejudice was the disgrace the African American ethnicity received by being forced as slaves. This slavery was based on race rather than being like ancient slavery which had nothing to do the face of a person (PG 400). Freud originally viewed psychoanalysis as a research tool that had powerful therapeutic applications. Although he tried to limit his early analysis to six to twelve months, he had hoped that in time it would be superseded by more efficient methods (Saposnek, 1984; Nugent, 1994; Phillips, 1985). I believe Sophocles uses the supposed death of Orestes to cause a reaction in Electra, in turn enhancing character development. Euripides gives Electra s character power by making her more decisive. He does not rely on the other characters as much to cause Electra s reactions. Electra has more internal initiative. She pushed for Orestes to kill Clytamnestra, even when Orestes was having second doubts, I myself will arrange my mother s death (Euripides, 45). Both Sophocles and Euripides give a sense of more free will to the characters by reducing divine interventions. In both versions Orestes has come from an oracle, and was told he should supply justice to his father s murderers. This is different from the Libation Bearers. Women are overrepresented in positions at the bottom echelons of organisations; they have less status, prestige, power and authority on the job. Besides, women are segregated into roles and jobs that offer poorer rewards and have fewer opportunities for progression to positions of power (Walby, 1988). Women receive less pay and rewards than men, even if they work in similar jobs with similar levels of responsibility and requiring a similar level of ability (Cockburn, 1992). Although it has been argued that the poorer labour market position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neo classical economists explain discrimination in labour market in two ways: through the notions of the taste for discrimination and through statistical discrimination (Sawyer, 1989They argue that employers exhibit prejudices against certain groups based on their personal belief system. In the case of women, it is suggested that employers discriminate based on the belief that women are not as capable as men in certain roles. An excellent example of this is provided in a litigation case that was brought against the financial services and auditing company Pricewaterhouse Coopers (Case, 2014). Ann Hopkins took her employer to court when she was passed over for promotion in favour of a male colleague in spite of the fact that objective records showed that her performance on the job was far superior to that man s. The court found that Pricewaterhouse Coopers had discriminated against Hopkins simply because she was a woman, and they did not believe that she would be capable in the new role. Neo classical economists, however, state that this form of discrimination is logical for employers (Sawyer, 1989). This is due to the presence of uncertainty and asymmetric information, as well as the fact that employers are rational in their decision making. Although information is available in CVs, application forms, and other selection mechanisms, employers are still unable to be certain that any new employees will fully meet the criteria for ... There are seven dimensions or characteristics of organisational culture. The Organisational Culture Profile (OCP) is one of many typologies that businesses use, to help them not only to describe its culture, but also identify, measure and managing it more effectively. Each organisation has a unique culture; every company will have a different value for each of the characteristics; furthermore when they are combined they define the organisations culture. Themes Found In Disney Princess Movies Many can relate to the classic instance in which a young child does a strange act, such as body slamming his brother like John Cena, with the parent knowing exactly where he learned it from: his favorite television show or movie. Let s face it: children are smarter than we often give them credit for. They observe the patterns and themes they see in movies and other media, using them to draw conclusions about the world around them. At surface level, this is not necessarily bad. There is nothing wrong about learning something from an electronic source, even if it is only a wrestling move. Although there is nothing wrong with being beautiful or needing help, making external beauty a primary ambition is dangerous for young girls. Some might falsely assume that beauty is the most important trait to have, since many movies are centered around this idea. If girls believe that they need to be beautiful in order to be valuable in society, this could cause them to feel even more insecure about their appearances if they do not look like their favorite princesses. They are made to feel as though their word versus the abuser s word means nothing. I have often heard that men/women that sexually abuse children are most often a family member or friend of the family. Think about that for a minute. How are children supposed to process what is happening to them by this trusted adult they have known (probably) most of their lives? According to eSchoolToday, children who are abused sexually tend to show some physical symptoms (hiding, STDs, and genital pain), health symptoms (anorexia, bowel disorders, and repeated headaches/stomach aches), and behavioral symptoms (substance abuse, withdraw, and decreased school performance/participation). The aim of an SMS is to monitor and manage the overall safety operations that occur within an airline. The use of an SMS has proven extremely successful as it solidifies the communication between operators and management. An SMS consists of four (4) main components: Safety assurance; Safety risk management; safety promotion; and safety policy. Each of these components plays a major role in ensuring the safe operation of an airline. Introduction: With the aviation industry exponentially expanding it is essential to ensure that those safety standards which are in place are working effectively. It is primarily the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure that his or her airline is not only profitable but is also safe. The balance between production and protection is a fine line and as such there need to be systems in place to ensure production is not outweighing protection. Airlines in the developed world endeavour to not only meet, but to exceed the expectations of the standards set by regulatory bodies within the aviation industry.
