The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) uses FME to help summarize and improve its geospatial data. Some examples include using FME to identify and correct errors in Brazil's vector cartographic bases at multiple scales. FME was also used to convert outdated topographic map data from DGN format to Shapefiles and reproject the data to modern coordinate systems. Additionally, FME helped analyze the positional accuracy of Rapid-Eye satellite imagery by comparing the imagery to higher resolution orthophotos and generating statistics on any displacements. Finally, FME is being utilized to georeference and catalog IBGE's collection of historical aerial photographs.
