Drop test simulation on pen drive by using ansyseSAT Journals
Abstract
Stress is plays an important role in a structural safety of the component and integral assemblies. Structural analysis comprises the set of physical laws and mathematics required to study and predict the behavior of structures. In the present work, Drop test analysis on a pen-drive with different materials is carried out using ANSYS, to evaluate the structural safety of component, when pen-drive is falling on ground with random velocity. Developing CAD model, meshing and results are analyzed by using ANSYS. Dimensions of pen-drive are considered with respect to industrial standards. Material properties are selected as per the ASTM standard (A36). This work comes under two categories. Initially carbon steel is used for the drop test analysis. Later carbon steel is replaced by kinematic inelastic material (Plastic material) to find the structural safety of component under drop test boundary conditions. Finally results are comparing with both materials value. Keywords: Pendrive model, Steel and kinematic bilinear materials , structural safety, and ANSYS.

Abstract
The steering columns in a steering system are one of the main devices of an automobile. It is a very important part to attain stability and
steady movement of the vehicle. It consists of two yokes, one on each shaft, connected by a cross-shaped intermediate member i.e.
spider. Motion transmission system of vehicles consist several components which sometimes encounter unfortunate failures. Some
common reasons for the failures may be manufacturing and design faults, maintenance faults, raw material faults, material processing
faults as well as the user originated faults. In this paper finite element analysis of the component is carried out to find the stress and
displacement of the final product. For modeling of the component, CATIA V5 R17 software is used. Preprocessing work like meshing

Frictional contact performance test and analysis of circular arc bionic non-s...eSAT Journals
Abstract
Circular arc bionic non-smooth concave surface is used in friction driving. The frictional contact performance between circular
arc bionic non-smooth concave surface and contact area is critical role for the mechanical drive of equipment whole. In this
paper through orthogonal polynomial regression experiments, the influence of diameter, distribution density and height of the
coating layer unit of circular arc non-smooth bionic concave on the friction coefficient is studied. The regression equation
between the non-smooth geometric parameters of the circular arc bionic non-smooth concave surface and the frictional
coefficient is obtained by experiment, and get the optimal solution by optimization analysis of regression equation. The
experiment result shows that circular arc bionic non-smooth concave surface can increase the driving force and improve the
transmission efficiency

Abstract Friction welding (FW) is a process of solid state joining which is extensively used in present scenario due to most economical, high productive, ease of manufacture and environment friendliness. Friction welding can be used to join different types of Ferrous, Non Ferrous metals and its combinations that cannot be welded by traditional fusion welding process. It is widely used in aerospace and automotive industrial applications. This process employs a machine which converts mechanical energy into heat at the joint to weld using relative movement between work pieces without external heat energy. The process parameters such as Rotational speed, Friction pressure, Friction time, Forge Pressure play major role in determining the high tensile strength of the weld for alloyed material i.e. Cu Zn28 Pb2.Taguchi Method is applied for optimizing the welding parameters to attain maximum tensile strength of the joint and microstructure of the welded joint, base material and heat affected zone is studied with good structure without any defects. Comparative studies on formability analysis in metal formingeSAT Journals
Abstract Sheet metal products are one of the most important semi-finished products used in the steel industry, and metal forming technology is therefore an important engineering domain. The development of new sheet metal forming processes, tooling and so on, has until now, to a large extent been based on experience, rules of thumb and trial- error experiments without or with only little use of scientifically based engineering methods. As mentioned above, experience is not enough, and trial-error experiments are expensive with regard to both money and time. The forming limit diagram (FLD) shows metal formability in metal forming with less cost. . The forming limit diagram typically represents the maximum permissible range of major and minor strains that a typical sheet material can undertake without failure. The forming limit diagram is experimentally measured for each sheet material by placing a grid of circle on the sheet sample and then deforming the same. A comparison of the original and the extensions in the marked grids on the sheet sample provide an estimate of the major and minor strain of the sample. This paper presents a case study of automotive component spring seat. By placing the grid of circles on the component and by measuring the dimensions of deformed circles a forming limit diagram has drawn. The simulations were carried out by fast form advanced software. The results achieved concluded that, safe forming zone is of bottom part and wrinkling tendency is present on side wall of component. Performance evaluation of uasbr for milk processing plant of s.r.thorat milk ...eSAT Journals
Abstract
This work was aimed to evaluate the performance of UASBR for treating milk processing wastewater. The study has been conducted
for the UASBR installed at S.R.Thorat Milk Products Pvt. Ltd. at Rajapur, Tal. Sangamner, District Ahmednagar. The organic loading
rate was 3.69 Kg COD/m3/day, hydraulic retention time was 10 hours, and flow rate was 10m 3/hr. And up flow velocity was 0.6m/hr.
The COD: N: P ratio was followed as 100:5:1 for nutrient feed. The performance of UASBR is reported in terms of % removal of
various wastewater characteristics by UASB process. It is observed that the biogas yield of 0.6m3/m3reactor volume/day is sufficient
to carry out natural mixing in the reactor. So Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor can be suitable alternatives for
treatment of such wastewater to reduce overall operational cost of the treatment. [2]

In many cases wherever material handling equipment gear drives are used because of their efficient transmission of power. But disadvantage o f this system are whenever power shut down occurs or may be mechanical failure occurs are inpu t side of the system. If this situation occurs, guarantee of rotation of the shaft cannot be predic ted. It can move in both the direction, either it can continue moving in same direction because of in ertia or it may move in opposite direction because of gravity of the load. Moving in the rever se direction is also called as back driving [1]. To prevent back driving self locking gears can be p rovided, which doesnt move in opposite direction. The project implemented aims at self locking proper ty by usage of worm pair which are connected to each other in mesh pattern. The advant age of implemented system is simple and robust in construction. And we can achieve efficien cy of around 90%,where as conventional system has efficiency of only 40%.
Seismic analysis of high damping rubber bearings for base isolationeSAT Journals
Abstract
Base isolation is a mechanism that provides earthquake resistance to the new structure. The base isolation system decouples the building from the horizontal ground motion induced by earthquake, and offers very stiff vertical components to the base level of the superstructure in connection to substructure (foundation). It shifts the fundamental lateral period, dissipates the energy in damping, and reduces the amount of the lateral forces that transferred to the building, inter-story drift, and the floor acceleration.
The work deals with modelling and finite element analysis of a high damping rubber bearing in ANSYS 12.0. A displacement controlled transient analysis was done to analyse the behaviour of the isolator during earthquakes.

the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Abstract
This work aims at developing a mathematical model for predicting the compressive strength of granitic concrete using
Ibearugbulem’s regression model. A total of 45 cubes were cast, comprising of 3 cubes for each mix ratio of a total of 15 mix
ratios. The first 11 mix ratios were used to determine the coefficients of the regression while the whole 15 was used to validate the
model. The results from the model compared favourably with the experimental results. The model was tested with the statistical
student t-test and found to be adequate at 95% confidence level. With the model developed in this work, any desired compressive
made from granite concrete can be predicted if the mix proportions are known and vice versa.
Keywords: Ibearugbulem’s regression, compressive strength.

1. INTRODUCTION
Ibearugbulem et al (2013) observed that Scheffe’s and
Osadebe’s models are statistical methods of concrete mix
design most frequently used in Civil Engineering. These
methods are quite suitable for concrete mix optimization but
they are greatly limited in that a predetermined number of
experiments must be carried out in order to formulate them
and they can only be applied for mix ratios that fall within
the predetermined observation points (Scheffe, 1958 &
1963, Obam 1998 & 2006, Ibearugbulem, 2008, Osadebe
and Ibearugbulem, 2008 & 2009). It is based on this that led
to the search of an alternative method. Ibearugbulem’s
regression was formulated to take care of the inherent
problems of the previous models (Ibearugbulem 2013).
2. IBEARUGBULEM’S REGRESSION
EQUATION
Ibearugbulem et al (2013), gave the final model equation as
----------1
Solving the above matrix will give the values of the
coefficient of regression function equation. This equation (1)
can be written in a short form as
[F(z).Z] = [CC] [α] ----------2
CC is always a symmetric matrix
In this study we are considering a mixture of three
components whose CC is a 7 x 7 matrix shown in equation

3. MATERIALS USED FOR THE
COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH TEST
Four materials were used for the experimental (laboratory)
test. They include:
i. Water that is fit for drinking and taken from
borehole tap in Madonna University, Akpugo
Campus in Enugu State, Nigeria was used.
ii. The cement used for this test was Dangote cement,
a brand of ordinary Portland cement that conforms
to BS 12 (1978).
iii. River sand that was free from deleterious matters,
and was well graded in the size range of 0.15mm ≤
x ≤ 4.75mm was used.
iv. Granite aggregate that was free from deleterious
matters and conforms to BS 882 (1992) was used.
Its size range is 4.75 mm ≤ x ≤ 19 mm.
4. METHOD
The materials were batched by mass in their dried state.
Cement and sand were mixed thoroughly together first and
granite aggregate was introduced and the three materials
were mixed thoroughly to a consistent state using manual
means. After mixing properly to a consistent state the
concrete was cast into the moulds and de-moulded after
24hrs. The cubes were cured for 28 days after which they
were crushed using the analogue okhard compression
machine and the compressive strength was determined using
equation (6) where the cross-sectional area is 22500mm2
.
Compressive Strength = Failure Load (N) / Cross sectional
Area (mm2

Four materials were used, but the components of the mix are
three. They are water/cement ratio (S1), sand/cement ratio
(S2) and granite/cement ratio (S3).
Note: S = S1 + S2 + S3 and Zi = Si / S. It will observed that
the actual number of elements in the concrete mix used
herein is four, but this regression is keeping cement
constant, thereby reducing the components for use in the
regression to three. It is an improvement the present
Ibearugbulem’s regression has over Scheffe’s and Osadebe’s
regression.
Substituting the values of Zi in table1 into CC matrix of
equation (3) gave:

Using the above final model equation, the model
compressive strength is obtained thus; (see table 2)
Student t- test on the compressive cube strength was carried
out to determine whether there exist significant difference
between the compressive strengths from the laboratory and
those from the model. The results are shown on table 2

t value from table is given as tα/N, (V).
This is equal to t 0.05 / 15, (14) = t0.0033, (14)
From Statistics table, t0.0033, (14) = 3.06 (by interpolation),
whereas calculated t is 0.2227
The t from statistical table is greater than the calculated t
value of 0.2227 i.e. (t(table) > t(calculated)), hence the Null
Hypothesis is accepted and Alternative Hypothesis rejected.
This means that there is no significant difference between
the results predicted by the model and the laboratory.
5. CONCLUSIONS
The Student t-test revealed that the compressive cube
strength predicted by the regression is very close to those
from the experiment. The calculated t (t(calculated) = 0.2227) is
less than the allowable t or t from statistic table (t(table) =
3.06) at 95% confidence level. Thus, within 95% confidence
level, one can predict the compressive cube strength of
concrete made with water, cement (OPC), river sand and
granite by using this model. Based on this result, it will be
concluded that the “IBEARUGBULEM’S Regression” as
used herein is working well and can be used to optimize
granitic concrete mixes at 95% confidence level.
