Forests are important habitats that protect wildlife, purify air, and control pollution and the ozone layer. Deforestation has negative effects like loss of habitat for many species of plants and animals that rely on forests. While people cut down trees for their needs, uncontrolled deforestation could result in no trees being left if practices are not changed to protect these important natural resources and the environment.
Diversity and distribution of butterflies in the open and close canopy forest...Innspub Net
Butterflies were sampled in Cadaclan, San Fernando La Union Botanical Garden (LUBG) of North Luzon to provide information on species-level diversity trend and distribution of butterflies on the open and close canopy portion of the dipterocarp forest from 2012-2014 using field transect method Species accumulation curve shows that additional sampling is needed for the possible turnover of species. Butterfly abundance was higher in open canopy forest with a mean individual of 8.14 per 10 meters out of the 814 total individuals. The close canopy forest had only 4.57 mean individuals for the total of 457. Species level diversity was higher in open canopy forest (H’ = 1.957) compared with the closed canopy forest (H’ = 1.933). These results suggest that butterflies prefer open canopy forest or clearing for their plights. Butterfly spatial distribution was uneven in the dipterocarp forest of LUBG with only 6 species of aggregate assemblages and 98 species with random distribution. This study aimed to assess the population status, size, distribution and ecological associations of Prunus africana in North and South Nandi forests in Kenya. Stratified random sampling was used to establish belt transects and permanent sampling plots to collect data on P. africana and other plant species. Semi-structured questionnaires were also used to interview local communities on their uses of P. africana and perceived conservation threats. The results showed that P. africana density was higher in South Nandi forest, with a 'j-shaped' diameter size class distribution. Other species had an inverse 'j-shaped' distribution. Significant differences were found in diameter and height between the two forests. Local communities relied on P. a

There are also reports that dependent children of service
members are involved with gangs and bring gang problems onto

candidates for gang membership because of the transient nature
of their families, which often makes them feel isolated,
vulnerable, and in need of companionship (NGIC, 2007).

Policy Development Process/Internet Eco System by Adam GoslingMyNOG
This document provides a summary of a presentation given by Adam Gosling on policy development at APNIC. It begins with an introduction of APNIC as the regional internet registry for the Asia Pacific region and describes its role and multistakeholder policy development process. It then discusses recent policy proposals that reached consensus, including on distributing returned IPv4 addresses and transferring AS numbers. The presentation concludes with an overview of APNIC's involvement in the broader internet governance landscape and collaborations with organizations like the NRO and engagement with governments.
The document discusses APNIC policies and the Policy Development Process (PDP). It provides the following key points:
1. APNIC policies outline the framework for distributing Internet number resources in the Asia-Pacific region, including policies for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and Autonomous System (AS) numbers.
2. The PDP is a multistakeholder process where anyone can propose and participate in policy decisions through open mailing lists and meetings. All decisions are publicly documented.
3. The PDP follows steps including a proposal submission, discussion period, consensus-building at meetings, comment periods, and final implementation. Consensus is defined as general agreement that addresses all objections.
This document provides a summary of updates from APNIC, including:
- Membership and internet number delegations have grown steadily over time.
- Several new internet resource policies were recently implemented.
- Services have been improved, including additional features for the Whois service and MyAPNIC portal.
- Support for members and the community continues through training, funding programs, and technical research.
ENOG 9 - RIPE vs RIPE NCC from the beginning to after the NTIA transitionHans Petter Holen
- RIPE is the open community that creates Internet number resource policies through consensus-based working groups. RIPE NCC is the not-for-profit membership organization that administers RIPE policies and allocates number resources.
- The US government previously provided oversight of the IANA functions, including global IP address allocation, but announced plans to transition this role. This has prompted a global discussion on developing a proposal for future stewardship of IANA.
- The RIR communities are collaborating through the CRISP team to consolidate their input into a single proposal. This will feed into the ICG, which is responsible for producing a final transition proposal. The key principles are maintaining bottom-up policymaking and
