3. Functions of the APNIC EC
• Represent the interests of Members in the governance of
APNIC
• Oversight of APNIC's activities
• Consider broad Internet policy issues for APNIC's strategic
direction
• Set membership fees
• Endorse the policy consensus towards implementation

4. APNIC EC Meetings
• The APNIC EC usually meets four times a year
• Four face-to-face meetings held in 2017
• Joint Board meeting with AFRINIC Board held in June 2017
• Planning for a Joint Board meeting with LACNIC Board in
December 2018
• Next meeting: Thimphu, 5 June 2018 during BtNOG

6. 2018 APNIC Survey
• APNIC EC commissions the APNIC Survey every two years:
⎯ Independent and anonymous
⎯ To gather feedback from Members and other key stakeholders about APNIC
services and the challenges facing the Internet community
⎯ The results will guide decisions on future priorities and service offerings
• Focus Groups and individual interviews completed
⎯ Thanks go to everyone in the community who participated
• Online Survey will start in June 2018 for four weeks
⎯ To be conducted by Survey Matters
⎯ Please participate - your feedback is very important to us!
• Survey results will be presented at APNIC 46 in Noumea

• Lower membership growth than expected in 2017
⎯ As of 31 December 2017, APNIC has 6,557 Members
• 2017 operating surplus exceeded budget
⎯ Revenue and expenses are below budget
⎯ Total surplus for 2017 is AUD 1.55 million
• Approved Activity Planning and Budget for 2018
• Continuing discussion on fees and strategic direction

8. APNIC Policy Endorsement
• APNIC EC reviewed and resolved to endorse four policy
proposals that reached consensus in 2017
⎯ prop-116: Prohibit to transfer IPv4 addresses in the final /8 block
⎯ prop-117: Returned IPv4 address management and Final /8
exhaustion
⎯ prop-121: Updating Initial IPv6 allocation policy
⎯ prop-122: Updating Subsequent IPv6 allocation policy

• The APNIC EC appointed Henri Kasyfi Soemartono to the
NRO Number Council / ASO Address Council for a one-
year term from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018

• The APNIC EC adopted a new process for selecting
APNIC's representatives to the IANA Numbering Services
RC
• From 2019 onwards, the RC will comprise:
⎯ One APNIC staff representative
⎯ One member appointed by the APNIC EC
⎯ One member elected by the APNIC community
o An election will be held in the Policy SIG during APNIC 46
⎯ Each appointment will be for a two-year term, starting 1 January
2019

12. Address Supporting Organization Review
• The APNIC EC agreed for the NRO to implement
recommendations 1 to 17 in September 2017
• The NRO EC and the ASO AC agreed to implement
recommendations 1 to 17 in February 2018
• On recommendation 18, the NRO launched a RIR-wide
consultation process in January 2018
• The APNIC community will be the first RIR to provide inputs
to the global process

• 2017 was the first year of operation for the APNIC
Foundation
• First Foundation Board meeting is scheduled for 17 May
2018 in Hong Kong
