The APNIC Executive Council report provided information on: 1) The current APNIC EC members and their functions of representing members, overseeing APNIC activities, considering internet policy issues, setting membership fees, and endorsing policy. 2) Details of recent APNIC EC meetings including face-to-face meetings since APNIC 45 and an upcoming meeting in Montevideo. 3) An overview of the 2018 APNIC survey which received over 1,000 responses and will guide future priorities, developments, and strategic planning. Finances were also discussed including membership growth and a forecasted operating surplus above budget.

• The Foundation’s first AGM and Board meeting was held in
Hong Kong on 17 May 2018
⎯ Resolutions approved audited financial statements
⎯ Adopted a range of fraud, personnel and workplace health and safety
policies
⎯ Sylvia Sumarlin from Indonesia was elected as the Chair
⎯ Two new Board members have been confirmed for appointment

• The Board held a strategic planning session and adopted:
⎯ Vision statement:
o To have a global, open, stable and secure Internet that is affordable and accessible to the
entire Asia Pacific community
⎯ Mission statement:
o To increase investment in Internet development in the Asia Pacific region, through
education and training, human capacity building, community development, research, and
related projects and activities
• The Foundation achieved over AUD 1 million in funding in its first
18 months of operation, from donors including the Asia
Foundation, the Internet Society and the governments of
Australia, New Zealand, and Canada
