Culture is defined as the belief systems, norms, and values shared by a group of people. It is learned and transmitted through socialization, making it difficult to perceive from within a culture. Culture includes both material aspects like food and clothing as well as non-material aspects like beliefs and values. Folk culture is traditionally practiced by small, homogeneous rural groups, while popular culture is found in large, heterogeneous societies and shares certain habits. Popular culture has led to the diffusion and commercialization of some folk practices but has also destroyed some traditions by changing roles and values.
