During the 1920s America was the wealthiest
country in the world. Reasons:
 Hire-purchase
 Stock on margin
 Drop on stock prices
 On 1932, it was at its worst
 Had built up her economy on American loans.
 By 1932, the unemployment in Germany had
reached over 6 million
 France and Britain were still recovering from
the devastation of the WWI
 France had more self-sufficient economy than
Britain.
 Other reason is the Treaty of Versailles
 Also there was an anti-communism hysteria
 Right-wing political ideology. Strong emphasis
on Nationalism
 Leads: Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Franciso
Franco
 He started this party.
 Made himself called “Il Duce”
 Massive use of propaganda to grow in the
nation
 Used many of Mussolini’s strategies
 Extremely nationalist, used of propaganda and
terror
 Extreme racism againts the Jews
 Wanted to delevop an Aryan racial state to
dominate Europe
 The League of Nations was intended to resolve
international disputes peacefully
 The only two countries in the League that
could have provided any military might were
Britain and France and both had been severely
depleted strength-wise in World War One and
could not provide the League with the backing
it needed.
 The USRR was on a war communism.
 It is introduced by Lenin
 He created a totalitarian regime that
collectivize agriculture and emphasized the
central control of the government
