Chile Tariffs
Tariffs in Chile
From 1930 through 1960 the Chilean economy was highly protected with import and export quotas,
import permits, tariffs, noninterest bearing import deposits and multiple exchange rates imposed by
the government. The Central Bank negotiated, with each importer, which exchange rate to apply to
each transaction. Moreover, imports included only intermediate and capital goods and a few
essential consumer goods. Guidelines to approve products from other countries were followed and
several goods were prohibited for importation. Because of this situation, there were three attempts
to eliminate tariffs and all restrictions. By 1974, changes started taking place. Trade liberalization
allowed Chile to develop where they had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Trans Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement, also named P4 or TPP, is a trade
agreement between Chile, Brunei, New Zealand and Singapore signed in 2005 and has been in
force since 2006. It was designed to liberalize trade between the economies of the Asia Pacific
region. However, since 2010 negotiations have taken place to expand the original trade union to
incorporate eight other countries including Mexico, USA, Canada and Australia. Chile s economy
has benefit from trading with countries in the TPP. In 2012, almost $16 billion of Chile s overall
$79 billion worth exports went to TPP countries. At the same time, Chile imported $25 billion in
return. Since 2003, Chile s trade with TPP nations has grown by 16% each year.
Chile and USA entered into the U.S. Chile Free TradeAgreements on January 1, 2004. This
agreement eliminates tariffs and open markets, reduces barriers for trade in services, provides
protection for intellectual property, ensures regulatory transparency, guarantees nondiscrimination
in the trade of digital products, commits both parties to maintain competition laws that prohibit
anticompetitive business conduct and requires effective labor and environmental enforcement.
Through duty elimination, the agreement allows U.S. textile and apparel exporters to

The Incompatibility Of Oscar And Felix
To begin with, the title makes someone think of a pair that does not belong together and is
totally opposite. Because of the total incompatibility of the two main characters, Oscar and
Felix, situations arise that advance the action and the comedy. For example, Oscar is a slob
who is very casual and easy going. Felix is a neat freak who tends to be a bit whiny. A perfect
example of how this incompatibility drives the action begins when Felix moves in with Oscar
because he is in a disagreement with his wife. Oscar and Felix are playing poker with friends and
Felix is constantly interrupting to clean something or spending a long time making snacks and
eventually drives the friends to leave one by one. Of course, this causes friction between

Similarities And Differences Between Millers Tale And The...
The author Geoffrey Chaucer wrote the book The Canterbury Tale and also added several
stories. I chose to write about. The Knight s Tale and The Miller s Tale , because both of them
are so equally different, but have some similarities for example, in The Knight s Tale talks about
the knight s and how they are so respected and honorable man s. The Miller s Tale is about a love
triangle that involves one woman and three men and how the miller is not a respected man and
doesn t keep his promises.
The Miller s Tale and The Knight s Tale are very different, but they also had a lot of similarities.
In The Miller s Tale Chaucer explains how the Miller was a drunk and pale man that did not
have a wife or children, but even before telling his story, it wasn t his turn by interrupting the
Monk before him and begins to explain his story. The miller start to explain about a young girl
called Alison and her husband called the Carpenter, Alison was an only 18 years old when she
married her husband and he was an old man. They lived in Oxford the Carpenter would admire
the beauty of his wife and how the town man would be envious of him for his wife. It also
involved two other man Nicholas and Absolon these men were also young, Nicholas was a clerk
that would happen to be a secret love affairs, but also very clever and discreet and Absolon was a
foppish clerk and a handsome man that every woman loved. Those three men were in love with

Internal Communication At Radio 21
Introduction
Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge
that creates connections between employees and responsibilities. In fact, effective internal
communication leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be
only a positive aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal
Communication, n.d.).
Radio 21
Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a
small radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry,
2004). It is primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements, while it broadcasts music
hits, entertaining content and news bulletins (Psychogiopoulou, 2012). Furthermore, the slogan of
Radio 21, Station of fun , is easy to remember and communicates the uniqueness of its company in a
fairly straightforward, focused and clear manner.
Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other
private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss
in market share (Rezultatul Studiului de Audienta Radio, 2008). Therefore, this is the major reason
why the company s current short term objective is to reach the Top 5 most listened radio stations in

assumption that they are better than the others. Employees tend to look for a culprit instead of

some managers become overwhelmed in their everyday duties due to the inability to delegate tasks
effectively and in turn employees have to deal with responsibilities, which come from different

The Namesake Essay
The Namesake Theme and Cultural Values In the book The Namesake , the main character goes
through many struggles trying to find his true identity. The theme of the story is when two
cultures are introduced into a child s life, it can be hard for them to find their true identity. The
character deals with a lot of ups and downs trying to find who he is and what he wants to be in
life. The struggles that Gogol goes through are what everyday people go through during a lifetime.
At the beginning of the book, two bengalese parents, Ashima and Ashoke, have their first child and
name him Gogol in order to be released from the hospital. They have a tough time getting used to
American customs and they have no family to help them with Gogol. Their only family is

His father on the other hand thinks of the near death experience he had and the connection he
has with the name. The name is another struggle that Gogol has to go through in his life. When
his father dies later in the book, he begins to hate the name because of the connection it has with
his father s near death experience. But he doesn t really want to let go of it, for he thinks that he
will totally leave the culture that he grew up in behind. He also thinks he will just totally forget
his father if he changes his name. The struggles he has with his father are the fact that he totally
can t decide where he wants to go. He doesn t even go to the same university as his father, which
really causes a lot of problems with his father. When things get bad for Gogol, they get really
worse. His wife even cheats on him with another man. This causes an even greater struggle and
internal pain for Gogol. He decides that they weren t right for each other and the two split up. This
again is another strain on Gogol s life that he must

Cuban American Family Of Six Children
Chavez who born in March 31, 1927 in Yuma, Arizona, in a Mexican American family of six
children, had always a huge sense of connection with the land and the people who work hard of
build the life by farming the land. His family owned a grocery store and a ranch, but their land
was lost during the Great Depression of 1930s, which was the longest, deepest, and most
widespread depression of the 20th century. During that time his family s home was taken away
after his father had agreed to clear eighty acres of land in exchange for the deed to the house, an
agreement which was subsequently broken. Later, when Chavez s father attempted to purchase the

Later, he would say, The love for justice that is in us is not only the best part of our being but it
is also the most true to our nature. Then my story with Caser Chavez starts from here, and I think
it would be very useful if I start to describe the historical path of Modern Mexican American
movement in order to make a sense of Chavez legacy. From different historical resource we learned
that the origins of Mexican Americans in the United States today go back to the days of the Spanish
who first came to Mexico and then expanded north into the Southern United States, especially
into the Southwest. While The Mexican Revolution in 1810 drove the Spanish out of Mexico and
Mexican territory, the Mexican War from 1846 to 1848 ended Mexican control of the Southwest,
and this is what explains the process of forming another American minority that so called Mexican
Americans, and like any other minority of that era, they suffered losing power, land, and wealth.
To stand against inequality, injustice, and discrimination, we, as Mexican Americans, formed
different organizations that to take a collective actions in order to achieve our goals of equality,
justice, and civil rights. For example the Confederacion de Uniones de Obreros Mexicanos
(CUOM) was formed in 1927 in Los Angeles. It proved to be the first really stable organization
among Mexican workers. They organized three thousand workers into twenty locals, and in 1928
they struck in the Imperial Valley.

Some other questions that I am going to answer that support my main problem are whether or not
the type has anything to do with how late a bill get paid.
Analysis and Methods
Based on the data the dependant (response) variable is the days overdue which is represented in
Figure E as Y. The independent (predictor) variable is the bill amount and the type of bill which
are represented by X in Figure. In analyzing all the data I was able to conclude that we did not
need the type in the regression analysis, so based on that conclusion the following analysis are what
I based my report on:
A)1st Analysis Overdue Bills Commercial
a.Scatter Plot Shows: Figure A
i.The higher the bill the less overdue it is, and the lower the bill the more overdue it is
b.The scatter plot follows the straight line this scatter plot has a negative linear relationship.

Early American Music Research Paper
One aspect of American history that has remained constant is the development of its music.
American music has always been a building block of American history, constantly changing along
with the country. In the beginning of what would soon become our great country, the migration of
European immigrants was a very heavy influence on American culture, lifestyle, and musicat the
time. In the beginning stages of the colonization of America, European religious views were very
present and, the birth of early American sacred music was born out of this time of religious
exploration. With many people attempting to convert others, the music they used portrayed often
their views and approaches to these attempts. One of the groups of people doing this were the
Shaker community, they had a belief of shaking off their sins, the music they used in their services
represented the belief of that activity. With very up tempo music and a heavy Dance feel to it, they
used this music to encourage the idea of shaking off their sins and all ungodly things. Not long after
the occurrence of the religious revival in the new American colonies, the composing of American
hymns started with William... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that era of hardship, many new genres of music were being born, from political
broadside ballads to minstrel songs. At a time when the country was split in two, the music of
that time was also pulled back and forth over the battle line. This was present in the song My
Maryland . The original song was published as the state song for Maryland and in support for the
Union, but soon after it was revised by some Maryland residents who were in support of the
Confederate army. They took the original My Maryland song and altered some of the lyrics to
show their views of opposition toward The Union. This course of action replays repeatedly
throughout American history in future genres of

Video Games Considered Art Essay
Video Games Considered Art Many video games use visuals to mentally immerse gamers into a
virtual world filled with seemingly living, breathing people, animals, or cities. According to
Michael Samyn and Auriea Harvey, game designers for Tale of Tales, video games increasingly
develop into a true medium of artistic expression (Lamb). In just forty years, video games
transformed from an abuse of the new computer for entertainment purposes into a sophisticated
form of popular art. The development of video games recently produced results that arguably equal
other similar, representational arts. Video games share many qualities with other forms of art, but
they are also artistically significant in their own way. This seems to be something... Show more

These backdrops technologically represent the visual art style seen in video games. While not
necessarily traditional art, new visual art is created by the ever growing technological advances

that changes to reflect the time of day and the changing weather, is simmering with economic
and ethnic politics, has great architecture, and is everywhere making comments on our real

everywhere; the architecture, the faded graffiti created by rival gangs, and the interactive
characters clothing designs. These two video game examples alone prove the ever growing
technological representation of art in video games, whether it is a fantasy world full of colorful,
exotic plants or a gritty, realistic setting where crime and graffiti scatters throughout. Video
games use visuals as well as use creative media to explore and represent art in gaming. In using
creative media, video games share similarities with traditional art but also differ from it entirely.

New Media, Not Newspapers, is a Dynamic Way to Communicate

Essay about The Physic of Paintball
The Physic of Paintball
I.The Fundamentals of the Game of Paintball.
Paintball is a sport that is still fairly new in the world being not much more that a decade old.
This game as with other sports would not be possible without physics. Physics is essential to the
game of paintball. Some of physics that are involved in paintball are pressurized gas, projectile
motion, and the impulse of being hit by a paintball.
As with all sports there is necessary equipment needed to play. The most important piece of
equipment would be the paintball gun often called a marker. The marker uses compressed carbon
dioxide to propel the .68 caliber paintballs. Small carbon dioxide tanks are connected to the
paintball markers the tanks vary in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pressure caused by gases and gases being placed under pressure is used in our everyday life.
Without the use of gases we would be unable to fly in airplanes, play basketball or even have
carbonated drinks. Gases exert pressure on any surface with which they come in contact,
because gas molecules are constantly in motion. We humans have adapted so well
psychologically to the pressure of the air around us that we are usually unaware of it (Chang
155). The equation often used to measure the pressure of gases is the ideal gas equation P=nRT
/V. Where P is the pressure of the gas in atm, n is the number of moles of gas, R is the
proportionality constant (0.0821 L*atm) T is the temperature in Kelvin of the gas, and V is the
volume the gas occupies (Chang 160).
The gas used with paintball in is pressurized carbon dioxide. The gas is under high pressure in
small cylinders. The high pressure is created by forcing large amounts of gas into a finite area.
According to the equation given above the more gas forced into a restricted volume the pressure
will increase.
III.Projectile Motion of Paintballs.
Projectile motion plays a valuable role while playing paintball. Unlike shooting a real gun a
paintball can be seen throughout its entire flight. They are big enough and slow enough to be seen
easily. When a paintball is shot it comes out of the barrel moving at 250 to 300 feet per second,
and unfortunately is easily affected by wind and air resistance.

Parents want to teach their offspring about sex at home, because they feel like they can provide
what they feel is age appropriate material to their offspring. However, if we rely on parents to
teach their children about sex, how do we prove that their information is age appropriate or
credible? Personal beliefs might be added into the information and can exclude certain subjects like
what to do if you are having consensual sex before marriage. Certain beliefs people follow, such as
Catholics, don t teach the subject of contraception to girls ( Madison ). If we teach sex and its
related topics that have been proven as medically accurate at a suitable time for adolescents, they
can grow to think of it not as a controversial subject and can freely speak of the correct
information they learned. Teenagers who don t get medically accurate information can become
liable for their actions which they were not properly taught the consequences of earlier. When you

because of the material that she was taught. This is also true for boys when they don t know the

The Affects of Temperature on Amount of Oxygen, Mung Beans...
Title:
Amount of Oxygen, Mung Beans (Vigna Radiata) Consume during Cellular Respiration
Introduction:
Cellular respiration is a catabolic reaction that refers to the process of converting chemical energy
of organic molecules into a simplify form so it can be used immediately by organism. Glucose may
be oxidized completely if sufficient oxygen is available, by the following equation:
C6H12O6 + 36 ADP + 36Pi + 6O2(g) 6 H2O + 6 CO2(g) + 38 ATP + heat
All organisms, including plants and animals, oxidize glucose for energy. Often, this energy is used
to convert ADP and phosphate into ATP. The process of complete oxidation involves glycolysis,
Krebs cycle and electron transport chain. Besides ATP, pyruvate molecules, NADH and FADH2

For accuracy purposes, the measure in the control tube, that had deviated from zero, was added and

When the final readings were recorded, the stoppers were removed. The Mung beans seeds were

The Day Of The Jackal By Fredrick Forsyth
Temporal setting within a novel is a factor that drastically draws a picture perfect image. Within
the novel The Day Of The Jackal by Fredrick Forsyth, a suspicious, yet optimistic, atmosphere is
expressed due to the terrific temporal setting from the cold war era and summer season. The cold
war era creates a world of suspicion and secrecy that ties directly to the plot, while the summer
setting gives the Jackal an opportune chance to complete his assassination plans. To begin, The
Day of The Jackal is set between 1962 1963; during the height of the cold warand high tensions
between countries and political leaders. With paranoia rampant, suspicion is everywhere. By
choosing this era as the setting, awareness of the occurring world events is already present. During
this time the hatred between political parties was strong. In the novel, France is referred to as
being turned into a ... loathing of politicians and communists which at the time, was not tolerable
(Forsyth, 29). The cold war era enhanced the story as it describes France in terms relevant to its
time: communism, being the horrid political plague that it was, rapidly infected the world. Secrecy
was also exponentially taking over. Furthermore, confidentiality was depicted in the novel when
conversation details became vastly vague, with such specimens being questioned and being told

In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine.
Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will

Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During
the first three years of her life, The
Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler
was made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. A

Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex.
Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland.
There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is
when I moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it
was hard at first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than
schools so I can only imagine what it would have been like for Anne.
It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that
Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish
school. This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion.
Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone
or even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened
to me, I don t know what I would do to keep entertained.
All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go
into hiding. It finally happened in
1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been

Taking a Look at Myasthenia Gravis
People go to doctors offices with a lot of different conditions everyday. A lot of those conditions
happen to share the same symptoms which could make it hard to determine what is truly wrong
with a patient without a diagnosis. A diagnosis is a methodical evaluation of symptoms and
complaints through interview, observation, testing instruments and/or procedures taken to
determine if an illness is present (1). It is important that a person be diagnosed thoroughly and
properly so that they can receive the right treatment (if available) to make the patient better. A
patient with symptoms like Susan s would need a full diagnosis to determine exactly what he/she
has, which is what her doctor did. Her doctor s diagnosis made it easy for us to determine whether
her illness is myasthenia gravisor myotonic muscular dystrophy. Here s how.
We learned through research that myasthenia gravis and myotonic muscular dystrophy are two
common forms of muscular disorders. Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder that usually
occurs in the arms, head and chest (2). Its symptoms include limb weakness, drooping eyelids,
impaired vision, difficulty chewing and swallowing, slurred speech, difficulty breathing and
abnormality of the thymus gland (3). Myotonic muscular dystrophy is one of many forms of
muscular dystrophy that is characterized by muscle wasting and myotonia or the inability to relax
muscles (4). Its symptoms include, but are not limited to drooping eyelids, cataracts,

Analytic Rubrics
There are advantages and disadvantages that exist for both holistic and analytic rubrics. Teachers
use holistic rubrics (e.g. the Holistic Oral Language Scoring Rubric and the Holistic Scoring Rubric
for Writing Assessment with ELL Students) to assess their students cognitive functions
simultaneously while analytic rubrics (e.g. the Student Oral Language Observation Matrix and the
Analytic Scoring Rubric for Writing) assess children s abilities separately and assign a different
score to each learningaptitude/dimension. Advantages of using holistic rubrics include the
following: faster scoring process; can be used a means of summative assessment at the end of
project or a unit; emphasizes the positive aspects of a student s work. The downside

Future Teach Summary And Analysis
One of the tips I plan to use for myself as a future teach is To create a safe environment, show
that you are human (Koch, 2013, p 173). This is a very important tip for me to use because as a
teacher we always want to make sure that our students feel safe and that as their teacher we want
to keep them safe. The second tip I could use is Who are the student? What types of homes,
apartments, or other forms of housing arrangements do they live in (Koch,2013, p 173). This is
another important tip to up hold as a future teacher because it is important to have a relationship
with your students, but to also learn a little bit about them everyday. The third tip I could use as a
future teacher is Offer Choices and be flexible (Connell, 2013).

Different Types Of Police Brutality
Police brutality is one of the worst human rights violations in the United States. This has been
going on since slavery time and the Civil Right Movement. Over the past decades, people are led
to believe that the police are becoming new criminal. Police brutality is the use of excess forces
dealing with the citizens. Which can ranges from false arrest, severe beating, racial profiling,
politics, shooting, fatal choking and other form of harsh treatments.
Let s start from the beginning. Sixty one years ago the women known to be the Mother of the
Civil Right Movement got on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her name was Rosa Parks. She
was exhausted from a long day of work. When the bus driver James Blake asks her and three
other blacks to move to the back of the bus making room for the white men. Rosa Parks refused to

That is required excessive use of forces. This is not the only types of police misconduct. Police
brutality can take form in false arrest, malicious prosecution, excessive force, and failure to
intervene.
False arrests take place when the police take a person into custody, without an arrest warrant and
without probable cause, to believe the person had committed a crime. The person can bring a claim
that police violated their Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable seizure. The officer s belief
is based on the information available at the time of arrest, even if it turns out to be wrong.
Malicious prosecution when a police officer begins a criminal proceeding without a reason. This
violation the Fourteen Amendment rights to liberty. In order to win this type of claim, the victim
must show these four things: 1) the police officers commenced a criminal proceeding; 2) the
proceeding ended in the victim favor; 3) there was no probable cause and 4) the proceeding was

Analysis Of The Film Thief Of Bagdad
One thing the film did not do so well was an accurate representation of the Arabian people.
There was a great deal of obvious race bending going on amongst the main leads. Maybe this
could be chalked up to a lack of Arab actors or inherent racism in Hollywood at the time,
however, most of the main characters were portrayed by Caucasian actors. John Justin
and Conrad Veidt, portray the lead characters of Jaffar and Ahmad the sultan in brownface,
whereas Sabu is Indian and portrays an Arabian thief. Throughout the film, I could not help but
get a sense of how the Arabian culture was being romanticized through a Western lens. I could
almost argue that, had this film been directed by someone of a different race other than
Caucasian, the outcome and casting decisions for main leads would most likely have been
different due to wanting to attain a higher level of cultural authenticity.
The Thief of Bagdad was directed by non AAPI filmmakers Ludwig Berger, Michael Powell
and Tim Whelan. Given this information, I can see how someone as a director would want to
glamorize a culture in order to make it more visually appealing to audiences despite it being
culturally inaccurate. At the time, Asians were still very much underrepresented in film and many
roles would be lost to Caucasian actors so as to resonate with American audiences. It is
fair to argue that had this film been handled by someone who shared the culture, certain
directions would have

Deleterious Med12 Mutation Of Fg Syndrome
Deleterious MED12 Mutation in a Patient with Mitochondrial Dysfunction Expands the
Phenotype of FG Syndrome ABSTRACT: Mutations in the MED12 gene are associated with X
linked intellectual disability (ID) which present phenotypically as FG syndrome or Lujan
syndrome. The two disorders have overlapping features of ID, hypotonia, and corpus callosum
abnormalities but physical features differ . Carrier females are typically unaffected. Mitochondrial
dysfunction has not been previously described. Herein, we report a 7 year old male with features
of FG syndrome, hypogammoglobulinemia, mitochondrial dysfunction, and normal IQ found to
have a de novo deleterious MED12 mutation on whole exome sequencing. This case expands the
phenotype of MED12 related disorders. In addition, hypogammoglobulinemia documented in this
patient may explain the frequent infections reported in other patients with MED12 mutations.
INTRODUCTION: The definition of FG syndrome is based on original observations by Opitz
and Kaveggia in 1974. They described a case of 3 brothers and their 2 male first cousins with an
undescribed X linked mental retardation syndrome. They were also affected with macrocephaly,
imperforate anus and congenital hypotonia and agenesis of the corpus callosum . In 1977, Riccardi
et al reported another male in the original family and 3 affected brothers from an unrelated family .

Especially when the person has no apparent relationship with the product being sold in the ad. It

looking at them by displaying pop figures who are popular and controversial. These companies

Manager Role in Implementing Change There are successful ways to implement changes in many

how it will affect their work daily. Managers within an organization that are seeking change need to

how they ever managed the old way. Overall, they feel good about the change and accept it as
the status quo from here forward. (Garrison Wynn, 2005) With these different phases that is why
it is hard to tell or determine how long changes will take to implement. If employees were not
aware that any changes were required then reaction of employee may be, why change if change
is not working or that the change was a waste of time. Mangers should be ready for the resistance
to any change, prepare for it, and make special efforts to assess and deal with individual reactions
to change. A manager or a person in leadership must develop a proper attitude toward the resistance
of change that their employee may have. Looking at the thoughts that many may have and carefully
listen to their concerns is something that managers must do to help with the resistance of the
change. Engaging many with the change should be done after fully understanding the concerns of
others. The best way to minimize resistance to change is to involve those who is responsible for
the change and those who are affected by it. Consulting employees from the areas affected first

Fountainhead Essay Outline
Ayn Rand, the author of the book Fountainhead, had very strong and insightful beliefs. One such
belief, as quoted by Ayn Rand, pertains to the idea of people that do not follow trends. She
believes that throughout history there have been people that decided to step off of the path that
everyone was on, in order to create their vision that no one has had before. The second someone
does something different many people start to think they are crazy and do not think their ideas are
practical. Although the inventors face much opposition, they still manage to come out on top. Ayn

The Salaries Of Chief Executive Salaries
1.INTRODUCTION
The salaries of chief executives is an issue that is heavily discussed on social media and on news
outlets, Increasing and decreasing CEO pay has large effects on a lot of people worldwide. This
essay will discuss to what extent or if at all chief executive salaries are excessive and should be
regulated. I will be arguing for the opinion that chief executive salaries are excessive and should
be regulated, as on average chief executive officers earn up to 180 times more than the average
UK employee earns a year (M West 2016) which may lead to demotivation of the workforce and
reduce overall productivity and reputation of the company. The outline of the essay is as follows, I
will discuss points supporting the opinion that chief executives are overpaid and require regulation
as well as points opposing this opinion.
2.MOTIVATION AND WAGE GAP
Excessive is defined as anything that is more than necessary, and something is only regulated
when it has negative impacts. The salaries of chief executives may be considered excessive
when regular employees are demotivated by the significant gap between their wages, the CPID
released research that more than half of UK employees believed high levels of chief executive
pay demotivated them at work and is bad for the reputation of the business (M West 2016). This
shows that high pay of chief executive officers does indeed have a negative impact on the
motivation of the employees, and this may lower productivity in the long

Protests In The NFL Protests
For the past year, several NFL players have decided to take a knee during the national anthem. This
all started last year when Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback of San Francisco 49ers, sat during the
national anthem. He claimed that he did this because of the oppression of African Americans in the
country. Various other players from different teams joined Kaepernick, together with his protest
.
Now, this protest has gotten larger, at week 3 of the NFL games there were more than 130
players and even an anthem singer were protesting. President Donald Trump has gotten involved in
these protests by going against the players. Trump has stated that these players need to be fired, as
well as the public needs to boycott the NFL. Millions of people in the United Statesare extremely
furious with these protests for disrespecting the country, nevertheless the players till protest.
These protests have caused a major division problem in the US, so this will share why these
protests aren t what people feel they are. First of all, many people believe that these protests are
about disrespected the anthem in addition to the country. But, These players aren t trying to
disrespect the country; they re trying to peacefully protest police treatment of African Americans
in America. When this all began Colin Kaepernick used to sit on the bench during the anthem,
until a former NFL player as well a veteran, Nate Boyer, told Kaepernick that there was a better way
to do this. So, Kaepernick

The Positive Relationship Between Science and Religion Introduction: Throughout history we can
find many instances where religion was strongly opposed to scientific research. For example, the
Catholic Church s objection to Galileo s defense of Copernicus heliocentric model where he offered
his observations that he felt furthered the theory that the planets revolved around the Sun. At that
time, the belief that the Holy Scriptures were perhaps inaccurate was one thing, but attempting to
confirm it as Galileo tried to do was a completely different issue and resulted in Galileo being

When reading specific verses of the Qur an it appears that in fact these scientific studies in
astronomy would serve to confirm God s greatness and the validity of the Qur an. For example;
Qur an (10:101)2 states: Behold all that is In the heavens and on earth ; But neither Signs nor

as a way to follow the Qur an s directive concerning prayer and religious observance of Ramadan
(Gingerich 1986) which was dependent on the correct interpretation of the phases of the moon
to correctly determine when the holy month was to occur. The study of the skies allowed
Muslims to create a calendar that would reflect in more detail how observant Muslims should
practice the Qur an commands including the direction prayer should be toward, what time of
year should Muslims participate in the Haji, and where to position the entrance for a mosque.
The Christian and Hebrew calendars did not correlate the new moon with the beginning of the
month as the Muslims did and therefore did not allow adherence to the Qur an when it stated
They ask thee concerning the New Moons. Say: They are but signs to mark fixed periods of time

Why Was The Peloponnesian War Inevitable
Good morning/afternoon students. Today I am going to be talking about the Peloponnesian war and
why it was inevitable.
The Peloponnesian war was fought between the two city states in ancient Greece, being Athens and
Sparta. These two cities had alliances that, between them, included close to every Greek city state.
The Peloponnesian war was inevitable because Athens was too hungry for power, and tried to take
total control of Greece. Athens s growth in military and economic power led to the beginning of a
bloody war.
Athens and Sparta were both dominant powers in ancient Greece. However, a legendary rivalry
existed between the two. When Athens ended its alliance with Corcyra in 433 B.C. and began to
surround Potidaea, it threatened Corinth s position. Sparta feared that Athens was becoming too
powerful and tried to avert war. The Spartans believed that peace was possible if the Athenians
would revoke measures against Sparta s ally, Megara. The Athenian leader, Pericles, refused to
concur with this because Sparta and Athens had earlier agreed that conflicts would be solved by
negotiation. If the Athenians would yield to Sparta s request, they would in fact be accepting
Sparta s orders. This was unacceptable, and as a result, war broke out. Athens and its Delian
League were attacked by Sparta and its Peloponnesian League. Diodorus mentions that the Spartans
did not just declare war, but sought additional support from Persia.
The Peloponnesian War changed Greece and nothing was the same after the war. Athens was
never to be as powerful again. As a result of the war, the Athenian Empire was never the same
again because of the change in the balance of power in the Greek world. This greatly alarmed
Sparta and its allies. The aggressive policies of Athens did not de escalate the situation whilst the
ambitions of the city state certainly provoked the Spartans. Increasingly, the Spartans became very
nervous about the growing naval and commercial power of Athens.
Pericles would have been willing to negotiate had not the slow moving but deliberate Spartans
backed him into a corner with their ultimatum. The outbreak of the war occurred when the Spartans
issued ultimatums to Athens, which the men of the Athenian

Hormones Involved In The Endocrine System
The endocrine system is the body system that deals with hormones and controls the body s daily
activities by producing specific chemicals. The endocrine system is also in charge of making sure
that the body s functions are coordinated and working properly. An example of this would be
having the same body temperature at all times and falling asleep and waking up. Hormones play a
major part in the endocrine system. Hormones are the chemical product of an endocrine gland.
There are different hormones that have different jobs. Certain hormones can turn on, turn off, speed

The major organs involved in the endocrine system are glands. A gland is an organ that can
produce as well as release chemicals. With this body system, endocrine glands make and distribute
the chemicals into the bloodstream. There are multiple types of glands that have specific jobs
involving the endocrine system. These endocrine glands are: the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid,
parathyroid, adrenal, thymus, pancreas, and finally ovaries in females and testes in males. Together,
these glands make up more than 30 types of hormones. Each gland has its own job in the body. The
hypothalamus, located in the brain, links the nervous system and the endocrine system. It also
controls the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is also located in the brain and it receives
information from the hypothalamus about the body. This gland controls other endocrine glands and
regulates growth, blood pressure, and water balance. The thyroid gland controls the release of
energy from food molecules inside cells. The parathyroid controls and regulates the amount of
calcium in the blood. The adrenal gland

Lack of Female Characters in The Strange Case of Dr....
Even the most casual reader can note the fact that there are very few female characters present in
Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Those that are found within the work hardly constitute as substantial ones none of the women have
more than a few lines of dialogue and appear within the tale for longer than a chapter or two. A
bevy of critics have pointed out the fact that such an egregious omission is hardly coincidental in
fact, more than a few have cited the fact that this piece of literature functions as a protest regarding
the degree of women s liberation that the New Womanpossessed near the turn of the 20th century in
Victorian England (Reed 2). When considered through this feminist lens, it becomes easily
discernible to the prudent reader that Stevenson portrayed no femalecharacters in a positive light
and simply used them to reinforce negative aspects of femininity, which he believed were rapidly
changing for the worse.
Some critics have advanced the notion that one of the reasons there is such a paucity of women
and of strong, beneficent women in particular within this story is due to what they represented in
typical Victorian England society. Women were generally viewed as a social force or a source of
authority which reinforces this fiction of coherent male identity (Doane and Hodges 63). This
quotation suggests the fact that women were generally the keepers of morality and virtue within

grounded on Scripture, is the model faithful to the character of Jesus Christ as witnessed in

The High School Dropout Rate
1. If society were to reduce the local high school dropout rate, then I believe that society could
progress rapidly with more skilled thinkers in the workforce. When a student drops out of high
school, he or she is far less likely to succeed. This is due to the fact that most, if not all, skilled jobs
that earn a decent living salary require a high schooldiploma at the very least. By decreasing the
local high school dropoutrate, our society would be giving those would be dropouts an opportunity
to succeed and earn a higher position in society.
There is currently a decline in the high school dropout rate, however this decline is very slight and
would hardly be noticeable in the short term. The reasons as to why high school students ... Show

The current situation of high school students dropping out has been steadily declining since the
early 1990 s. This could serve society very well if that trend continues to a point where dropping
out of high school become relatively unheard of. A social dysfunction of high school is that it
creates a class system between those with a high school diploma and those without one. The
manifest function of high school is to provide people with the skills and critical thinking ability
to obtain some type base level skilled work as well as provides a way to help keep kids safe and
out of trouble. In contrast, a high school dropout would have none of those functions and would
likely not be employed in skilled work and as a result might have to turn to criminal activities for
an income.
I do not believe that there is any group that benefits from high school students dropping out.
People who drop out of high school will usually have to rely on government subsidies, which in
turn will burden the general population due to higher taxes. I believe that if the high school
dropout rate were to be less than one percent, then society would progress more rapidly due to
more skilled thinkers in the workforce. One of the ways that this could be done is by addressing
what I believe to be the main cause of dropping out which is a lack of academic support. If students
who appeared to be struggling were given more tutoring and after school educational programs, then

Examples Of Foolishness In Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night foolishness and weakness
Twelfth Night, written by William Shakespeare, is a comedy about love. Love can be things that
are not always what they seem and or it can be foolish and it can also be a weakness. Foolishness
and weaknesses are the most of what we see in the play, Twelfth Night, the audience sees that, yes
there is a tragedy but, that is not what the play revolves around. The audience sees that later on in
the play all the love that is being described is foolish as well as something a child would do. The
love that is being described can not happen for a certain reason and when the characters find out
that someone loves them and they were not just saying that they would do something for them, the
character just sort of accepts it and let fate intervene and take place. Everyone in the world has a

What Is True Individual Freedom In The Story Of An Hour
True individual freedom cannot exist without independence, was a quote Franklin D. Roosevelt
once said. What is meant by this statement is you cannot have freedom without independence
and vice versa. It s like the peanut butter needed in a jelly sandwich. Mrs Mallard represents this
quote in the short story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin. One day, Mrs. Mallard, the
protagonist received the news that her husband had died in a railroad accident. Once she had
heard this, she went to her room and started to sob. She was sad that her husband died, yet she
often had not loved him. But then, she realized that she can be free and independent since her
husband is dead. Mrs. Mallard, also known as Louise, starts to pray that her life... Show more

Mallard starts to feel free and independent since her husband isn t around the house anymore. She
came to her consensus that there are positive things that are coming from this. In the story, Mrs.
Mallard says Free Body and soul free! she kept whispering (15). The reader learns that Mrs.
Mallard is now feeling like waves of freedom have washed over her, instead of gloomy ones. She
realized that she is now not held back by anyone, as she was seemingly restricted by her husband
to do things she had always dreamed of doing, by herself. Her body and soul are free, looking
forward to fun days later on in her life. She could finally have the freedom and independence she
had always wanted. A little further into the story, Mrs. Mallard s thoughts are Spring and summer
days, and all sorts of days that would be her own. She breathed a quick prayer that life might be
long (18). This is another example of the author showing Mrs. Mallard s independence and
freedom. She is looking forward to free and independent spring and summer days in the future. She
also makes a quick prayer that life might be long because she now wants to experience fun days
with her two new traits. Mrs. Mallard wants her freedom and independence to be the longest it
possibly can, up until she dies. Mrs. Mallard wants to experience her freedom and independence
now since her husband has

The Big Field Essay
Pete Rose once said You d be surprised how many shortcomings can be overcome by hustle. This
means that your doubt, laziness which are shortcoming s can all be overcome by hard work and
hustle. In the book the Big Field the lesson is working hard to get what you want. In this quote
Hutch said I will never give you that spot Darryl this quote is one of the most important quotes
in this book. It so important because throughout the book Hutch is working hard for this
position, and because he wants it, they fight over it the boys barley even talk to each other
because of this. The coach in the book said if you want to be on the field work hard day in and
day out. The coach said only the hardest workers will get to play on the team. This book
defiantly relates to teens today I would recommend this to teens personally. It relates to teens
because teens in high school, playing sports have to work hard to be on the teams. Since I
started playing for the high school its a lot more work than playing ball as a kid. You have to
work really hard to be on the team and to get better. The team had to work out over the summer to
stay in shape and those people that really irk and get better are the ones making plays on the field.

People and really teens can learn a lot from this book. This book is all about working hard to be
something for example the coach say work hard boys if you want to be on the field . Since I have
read this book I have worked harder at home and in the field to get better and get playing time. This
could really help people to gain confidence to go out and work hard and do things with full
potential. People reading this book and reading about a boy that lost and spot and worked hard to
get it back and play in the world series and win can really change people to do the same in life. I
recommend this to everyone its a very good

Beta Alanine Essay
Beta alanine (BA), only recently, has rapidly become one of the most popular performance
enhancing compounds in the world. Since the first human study in 2006, BA is commonly found
in most popular pre workout supplements on the market today (Trexler, et al., 2015). BA is a
naturally occurring amino acid produced in the liver. BA is also contained in animal proteins such
as turkey and beef, and therefore can be increased somewhat through the consumption of animal
protein. Significant increases, however, require various means of supplementation. Beta alanine has
been cited as a rate limiting precursor to carnosine synthesis (Harris, et al., 2006). BA
supplementation has been shown to increase levels of carnosine in skeletal muscle.... Show more

Additional roles of carnosine beyond Ca2+ regulation and pH buffer include its ability to act as a
scavenger of free radicals and singlet oxygen, both of which are not only damaging, but also limit
performance (Kohen, et al.,1988). Regarding BA supplementation and administration, there has
been some opposing views on which means of supplementation is most beneficial. Some research
suggests that BA is most effective when front loaded. Consuming 4 to 6g per day, preferably with
meals has demonstrated the maximum desired effect, with more significant benefits seen after four
weeks (Harris, et al., 2009; Stegen, et al., 2013). Some clinicians, however, maintain that oral
administration is minimally effective. A 2016 study by Sharpe, Macias demonstrated a definite
improvement in performance in short duration, high intensity exercise by athletes using a topical
gel to administer carnosine transdermally. The study does maintain that more testing does need to
be done, however, brings up scientific reasons why oral ingestion may be less efficient due to GI
damage to the supplement. The purpose of this literature review is to provide insight into the
effects of beta alanine in performance. The research demonstrates that BA ingestion is, in fact,
beneficial to athletic performance, with a significant portion of data showing it is more efficient in
shorter duration, moderate to high intensity activities lasting 60 to 240 seconds specifically.

The ever growing population of the world means that we...
The ever growing population of the world means that we need sustain and produce enough food in
order for the survival of humans and animals. It is thought that the world population will get
around 9 billion by 2050 (Guardian, 2014). To ensure that future generations do not starve, through
new technology science can boost food related research. Genetically modified crops are an
essential step to meet the needs of the growing population. Genetically modified crops are plants

But this can cause unknown side effects that is can have unknown effects on human or animals.
This can have an uprise in numerous ethical issues in both changing crop materials and testing it
(Strachan. T Read. A 2011). In many experiments livestock that have been feed genetically
modified crops has had infertility, early delivers and death. This raises many complications
towards crops that are genetically modified as they may carry viruses or bacteria that can be
harmful towards humans and animals. Many ethically issues arise from the side effects from
these crops on animals and humans. If livestock is affected by these crops this could also mean
decrease in production on meat and increase of meat prices because of the demand. The effects of
genetically modified crops have not been fully tested on humans and the consequences are not fully
known. There have been cases with Indian farmers having allergic reaction to genetically modified
cotton (Kurunganti K,2008). This is important in today s world as the population is growing
consumers need to be aware of the benefits and consequences of genetically modified crops.
Genetically modified crops are expensive, economically can be have some financial strain on the
farmers but in the long run it is effective as these genetically modified crops are altered so they
grow quicker than traditional crops. This will allow farmer to have more time off the field and

Volkswagen Cause And Effects
CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF VOLKSWAGEN COURT SETTLEMENT
Although many individuals are unaware of the TDI diesel emissions court settlement between
Volkswagen and their customers; there are two causes and several effects. John German discovered
the Volkswagen emissions scandal. It turns out that, the lawsuit came about due to cheating
software that Volkswageninstalled in their 2.0 and 3.0 liter diesel vehicles. In turn, a few effects of
the cheating software resulted in a 14.7 billion dollar lawsuit between Volkswagen and their buyers,
disappointed customers, and huge inconveniences (Bartlett,2017). Due to the software installed in
TDI diesel vehicles, there are up to 11 million vehicles affected.
In May of 2014, John German discovered, and went public about the Volkswagen emissions scandal
(Kretchmer, 2015). John German is a senior co lead for the International Council on Clean
Transportation. Mr. German has worked for the Washington based Environmental Protection
Agency for 13 years, which indicates that he knows what the requirements and enforcement are.
German partnered with West Virginia University and conducted the ICCT study. During the ICCT
study, German noticed detrimental nitrogen oxide emission levels; which leads him to think
Volkswagen diesel cars were malfunctioning. German felt vehicles were malfunctioning because
they were passing emissions testing, yet the vehicles had up to 35 times permitted levels of nitrogen
oxide.

Mardi Gras originated, when it is celebrated, how it is celebrated, and what does it mean to all the
different cultures. Mardi Gras, in the French speaking parts of the world and in some US southern
states is the last day of carnival festivities preceding Lent, the time of penitence observed by
Christians in preparation for Easter. Mardi Gras ( Fat

Consumer Bill of Rights
Introduction The term consumer protection in legislations and organizations aimed at ensuring that
the rights of consumers are protected. It also ensures that fair trade practices are implemented.
Moreover, these laws ensure that there is free flow of information in the marketplace (Cranston,
1978). Consumer protectionlaws are supposed to stop businesses from gaining an unfair advantage
over competitors. At the same time, it protects all stakeholders from fraud that may be perpetrated
by the business. Other than customers, these laws provide protection for the vulnerable consumers
in society. The four consumerrights are the rights of safety, of information, of choice and the right
to be heard (Bevans, 2011).
Before the end of the twentieth century, consumer rights were limited. This was about customer
product interaction as well as commercial producers. Consumers could not defend themselves
against defective products as well as misleading advertising methods. The consumer movement
began to gather momentum with greater member numbers. Things were better at the close of the
1950s whereby an aggrieved customer only had to show injury following the use of the product.
This was unlike earlier times when consumers had no protection against corporate negligence. The
person who drafted the Consumer Bill of Rights was Helen Ewing Nelson. The document was
written during Kennedy s campaign for president where he promised to protect consumers
(Howells, 2005).

Louisiana Coastal Land Essay
The loss of Louisiana coastal land is one of the most, major factors in our environment today.
Louisiana has already lost 1,880 square miles of land in the past eight decades. This problem is
effecting the state funding to help solve the problem before the state lose more coastal land. In
order to stop this situation, the state needs to have a stronger structural protection for the coastline
(Wilson, 2013). Louisiana s wetlands today represent about 40 percent of the wetlands of the
continental United States. (Wilson, 2013) The threat of more land and communities being lost is a

The natural processes of coastal land formation are based on the sedimentary load delivered by the
Mississippi River. Natural disturbances that contribute to coastal land loss are form hurricanes
eroding marshes and putting excessive saltwater into the system. Another disturbance is from
humans, which has a massive impact on the balance of wetland growth and decline. (Wilson,
2013). Over half of the wetlands have been lost since the colonization of America. The main forms
of human disturbance are the river control structures such as dams and levees, the dredging of
canals, and draining and filling. (Davis Wheeler,

The Mask Of Teiresias In Oedipus The King
We chose to make a mask of Teiresias, who was a blind man and very wise. At the beginning of
the play, he tells Oedipus that he is the murderer of the previous king, Laius, that is causing the
hardships for Thebes including various plagues. We decided to make the mask half blind to
symbolize how Oedipus sees Teiresias even though he is the most blind because of not knowing
his own past and its effects. The black eye represents Tiresias actual blindness while still
possessing the ability to see what really happened in Oedipusearlier life. The red flower symbol is
to represent Teiresias power of knowing the king s past while Oedipus is oblivious to it. The swirl

Honour And Disgrace Quotes
Honour and disgrace Honour, virginity and disgrace are other issues referred to in the novel. All
are interrelated in the Arab society. In such a society, the honour of the male members of a family
depends mainly on how their female relatives are looked upon. Their women should prove to be
virgin on their wedding night, and their relations after marriage must be restricted to their husbands
only. In this regard, El Saadawi explains that: [a woman] remains a woman whether poor or rich,
ignorant or cultured. Throughout, she is fundamentally the same since her honour does not go
further than an intact hymen and a chaste sexual life. In most cases, her downfall and loss of her

Dual Relationships Essay
Geyer (1994) defines dual relationships as occurring when a mental health practitioner, relates to a
client in roles other than that of a mental health practitioner outside the therapeutic context (p.187).
Areas outside of context may include church, social gatherings, and organized events to name a
few. The term dual relationship is interchangeably used with multiple relationships or
nonprofessional relations. Corey et al. (2011) further defines this role as a professional who
assumes multiple, two or more, roles at the same time with a client. The following paper will look
to address a literature review of dual relationships along with a review of the California Association
of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT) and American Counseling Association (ACA) ethics
codes regarding the topic. I will further provide personal reflections and values as they relate to
dual relationships. In closing I will provide an ethical resolution to a hypothetical case and provide
final thoughts.
Introduction
In clinical practice it is wise for mental health professionals to monitor boundary crossing or
multiple relationships. These roles have the potential for therapist to use power inappropriately
through influence or exploitation of clients. Therefore it is essential to continually monitor the
impact of the behavior on clients (Corey et al., 2011). From ethical perspective dual relationships
in its self is not a malpractice. The legal aspect depends on the nature of the relationships.

The Lake Tahoe basin is divided by the scenic and beautiful border of California and Nevada. The
gorgeous lake is, ...admired for its great depth and clarity and beautiful alpine surroundings
(tahoe.usgs.gov). The mountain ranges around the perimeter of the basin were formed 24 million
years ago by the rise and fall of the earth s crust due to the movement of faults. The Carson Range
to the east was created by tilt block faulting and resulted in a very steep mountain range
(tahoeadventuresports.com). Another fault created the Sierra Nevada range to the west, but is
more of a gentle change in elevation. As the fault blocks were thrown up, the high peaks of the
mountain ranges were created and as other fault blocks were thrown down, a valley was created.
Some of the peaks of the ranges can reach over 10,000 feet above sea level, making an
exaggerated difference between the lake and the ranges. Movement of other faults in the area
caused the valley to sink thousands of feet below the mountains on the east and west. Volcanic
activity from Mt. Pluto on the north shore resulted in lava flowing and blocking the outlet of the
newly developing valley. About 3 million years ago the ice age created glaciers in the Sierra
Nevada. As they moved and scoured the land, lakes were created behind them as piles of granite
rock were left to block the outflow of water from melted snow and rainfall. Lake Tahoe, Fallen
Leaf Lake, Cascade Lakes, and Donner Lake were formed by this process. Lake Tahoe as we
know it today is the third deepest lake in North America and tenth deepest lake in the world, with
the deepest part measuring 1645 feet. Not only are Tahoe s geologic origins intriguing, but so is the
history of the people inhabiting the

  • 2. Chile Tariffs Tariffs in Chile From 1930 through 1960 the Chilean economy was highly protected with import and export quotas, import permits, tariffs, noninterest bearing import deposits and multiple exchange rates imposed by the government. The Central Bank negotiated, with each importer, which exchange rate to apply to each transaction. Moreover, imports included only intermediate and capital goods and a few essential consumer goods. Guidelines to approve products from other countries were followed and several goods were prohibited for importation. Because of this situation, there were three attempts to eliminate tariffs and all restrictions. By 1974, changes started taking place. The Trans Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement, also named P4 or TPP, is a trade agreement between Chile, Brunei, New Zealand and Singapore signed in 2005 and has been in force since 2006. It was designed to liberalize trade between the economies of the Asia Pacific region. However, since 2010 negotiations have taken place to expand the original trade union to incorporate eight other countries including Mexico, USA, Canada and Australia. Chile s economy has benefit from trading with countries in the TPP. In 2012, almost $16 billion of Chile s overall $79 billion worth exports went to TPP countries. At the same time, Chile imported $25 billion in return. Since 2003, Chile s trade with TPP nations has grown by 16% each year. Chile and USA entered into the U.S. Chile Free TradeAgreements on January 1, 2004. This agreement eliminates tariffs and open markets, reduces barriers for trade in services, provides protection for intellectual property, ensures regulatory transparency, guarantees nondiscrimination in the trade of digital products, commits both parties to maintain competition laws that prohibit anticompetitive business conduct and requires effective labor and environmental enforcement. • 3. The Incompatibility Of Oscar And Felix To begin with, the title makes someone think of a pair that does not belong together and is totally opposite. Because of the total incompatibility of the two main characters, Oscar and Felix, situations arise that advance the action and the comedy. For example, Oscar is a slob who is very casual and easy going. Felix is a neat freak who tends to be a bit whiny. A perfect example of how this incompatibility drives the action begins when Felix moves in with Oscar because he is in a disagreement with his wife. Oscar and Felix are playing poker with friends and Felix is constantly interrupting to clean something or spending a long time making snacks and eventually drives the friends to leave one by one. Of course, this causes friction between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Similarities And Differences Between Millers Tale And The... The author Geoffrey Chaucer wrote the book The Canterbury Tale and also added several stories. I chose to write about. The Knight s Tale and The Miller s Tale , because both of them are so equally different, but have some similarities for example, in The Knight s Tale talks about the knight s and how they are so respected and honorable man s. The Miller s Tale is about a love triangle that involves one woman and three men and how the miller is not a respected man and doesn t keep his promises. The Miller s Tale and The Knight s Tale are very different, but they also had a lot of similarities. In The Miller s Tale Chaucer explains how the Miller was a drunk and pale man that did not have a wife or children, but even before telling his story, it wasn t his turn by interrupting the Monk before him and begins to explain his story. The miller start to explain about a young girl called Alison and her husband called the Carpenter, Alison was an only 18 years old when she married her husband and he was an old man. • 5. Internal Communication At Radio 21 Introduction Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge that creates connections between employees and responsibilities. In fact, effective internal communication leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be only a positive aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal Communication, n.d.). Radio 21 Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a small radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry, 2004). It is primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements, while it broadcasts music hits, entertaining content and news bulletins (Psychogiopoulou, 2012). Furthermore, the slogan of Radio 21, Station of fun , is easy to remember and communicates the uniqueness of its company in a fairly straightforward, focused and clear manner. Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss in market share (Rezultatul Studiului de Audienta Radio, 2008). Therefore, this is the major reason why the company s current short term objective is to reach the Top 5 most listened radio stations in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then my story with Caser Chavez starts from here, and I think it would be very useful if I start to describe the historical path of Modern Mexican American movement in order to make a sense of Chavez legacy. From different historical resource we learned that the origins of Mexican Americans in the United States today go back to the days of the Spanish who first came to Mexico and then expanded north into the Southern United States, especially into the Southwest. While The Mexican Revolution in 1810 drove the Spanish out of Mexico and Mexican territory, the Mexican War from 1846 to 1848 ended Mexican control of the Southwest, and this is what explains the process of forming another American minority that so called Mexican Americans, and like any other minority of that era, they suffered losing power, land, and wealth. To stand against inequality, injustice, and discrimination, we, as Mexican Americans, formed different organizations that to take a collective actions in order to achieve our goals of equality, justice, and civil rights. For example the Confederacion de Uniones de Obreros Mexicanos (CUOM) was formed in 1927 in Los Angeles. It proved to be the first really stable organization among Mexican workers. They organized three thousand workers into twenty locals, and in 1928 they struck in the Imperial Valley. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

American music has always been a building block of American history, constantly changing along with the country. In the beginning of what would soon become our great country, the migration of European immigrants was a very heavy influence on American culture, lifestyle, and musicat the time. In the beginning stages of the colonization of America, European religious views were very present and, the birth of early American sacred music was born out of this time of religious exploration. With many people attempting to convert others, the music they used portrayed often their views and approaches to these attempts. One of the groups of people doing this were the Shaker community, they had a belief of shaking off their sins, the music they used in their services represented the belief of that activity. With very up tempo music and a heavy Dance feel to it, they used this music to encourage the idea of shaking off their sins and all ungodly things. Video Games Considered Art Essay Video Games Considered Art Many video games use visuals to mentally immerse gamers into a virtual world filled with seemingly living, breathing people, animals, or cities. According to Michael Samyn and Auriea Harvey, game designers for Tale of Tales, video games increasingly develop into a true medium of artistic expression (Lamb). In just forty years, video games transformed from an abuse of the new computer for entertainment purposes into a sophisticated form of popular art. The development of video games recently produced results that arguably equal other similar, representational arts. Another example, Grand Theft Auto: IV, creates a living, breathing city, named Liberty City: Liberty City, the setting of Grand Theft Auto: IV, is a high water mark of aesthetic representation in gaming. Here is a city, rich with detail and character, with living inhabitants, that changes to reflect the time of day and the changing weather, is simmering with economic and ethnic politics, has great architecture, and is everywhere making comments on our real world . . . . (Tavinor 183) How does a virtual city in a video game represent art? Art is seen everywhere; the architecture, the faded graffiti created by rival gangs, and the interactive characters clothing designs. These two video game examples alone prove the ever growing technological representation of art in video games, whether it is a fantasy world full of colorful, exotic plants or a gritty, realistic setting where crime and graffiti scatters throughout. Video games use visuals as well as use creative media to explore and represent art in gaming. In using creative media, video games share similarities with traditional art but also differ from it entirely. Art created by video games is in a league of its own. Paintball is a sport that is still fairly new in the world being not much more that a decade old. This game as with other sports would not be possible without physics. Physics is essential to the game of paintball. Some of physics that are involved in paintball are pressurized gas, projectile motion, and the impulse of being hit by a paintball. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pressure caused by gases and gases being placed under pressure is used in our everyday life. Without the use of gases we would be unable to fly in airplanes, play basketball or even have carbonated drinks. Gases exert pressure on any surface with which they come in contact, because gas molecules are constantly in motion. We humans have adapted so well psychologically to the pressure of the air around us that we are usually unaware of it (Chang 155). The equation often used to measure the pressure of gases is the ideal gas equation P=nRT /V. Where P is the pressure of the gas in atm, n is the number of moles of gas, R is the proportionality constant (0.0821 L*atm) T is the temperature in Kelvin of the gas, and V is the volume the gas occupies (Chang 160). The gas used with paintball in is pressurized carbon dioxide. The gas is under high pressure in small cylinders. The high pressure is created by forcing large amounts of gas into a finite area. According to the equation given above the more gas forced into a restricted volume the pressure will increase. III.Projectile Motion of Paintballs. Projectile motion plays a valuable role while playing paintball. Unlike shooting a real gun a paintball can be seen throughout its entire flight. They are big enough and slow enough to be seen easily. When a paintball is shot it comes out of the barrel moving at 250 to 300 feet per second, and unfortunately is easily affected by wind and air resistance. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Title: Amount of Oxygen, Mung Beans (Vigna Radiata) Consume during Cellular Respiration Introduction: Cellular respiration is a catabolic reaction that refers to the process of converting chemical energy of organic molecules into a simplify form so it can be used immediately by organism. Glucose may be oxidized completely if sufficient oxygen is available, by the following equation: C6H12O6 + 36 ADP + 36Pi + 6O2(g) 6 H2O + 6 CO2(g) + 38 ATP + heat All organisms, including plants and animals, oxidize glucose for energy. Within the novel The Day Of The Jackal by Fredrick Forsyth, a suspicious, yet optimistic, atmosphere is expressed due to the terrific temporal setting from the cold war era and summer season. The cold war era creates a world of suspicion and secrecy that ties directly to the plot, while the summer setting gives the Jackal an opportune chance to complete his assassination plans. To begin, The Day of The Jackal is set between 1962 1963; during the height of the cold warand high tensions between countries and political leaders. With paranoia rampant, suspicion is everywhere. By choosing this era as the setting, awareness of the occurring world events is already present. During this time the hatred between political parties was strong. In the novel, France is referred to as being turned into a ... loathing of politicians and communists which at the time, was not tolerable (Forsyth, 29). The cold war era enhanced the story as it describes France in terms relevant to its time: communism, being the horrid political plague that it was, rapidly infected the world. The only comparison I can think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can only imagine what it would have been like for Anne. It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school. This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion. Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. A lot of those conditions happen to share the same symptoms which could make it hard to determine what is truly wrong with a patient without a diagnosis. A diagnosis is a methodical evaluation of symptoms and complaints through interview, observation, testing instruments and/or procedures taken to determine if an illness is present (1). It is important that a person be diagnosed thoroughly and properly so that they can receive the right treatment (if available) to make the patient better. A patient with symptoms like Susan s would need a full diagnosis to determine exactly what he/she has, which is what her doctor did. Her doctor s diagnosis made it easy for us to determine whether her illness is myasthenia gravisor myotonic muscular dystrophy. Here s how. We learned through research that myasthenia gravis and myotonic muscular dystrophy are two common forms of muscular disorders. Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder that usually occurs in the arms, head and chest (2). • 24. Analysis Of The Film Thief Of Bagdad One thing the film did not do so well was an accurate representation of the Arabian people. There was a great deal of obvious race bending going on amongst the main leads. Maybe this could be chalked up to a lack of Arab actors or inherent racism in Hollywood at the time, however, most of the main characters were portrayed by Caucasian actors. John Justin and Conrad Veidt, portray the lead characters of Jaffar and Ahmad the sultan in brownface, whereas Sabu is Indian and portrays an Arabian thief. Throughout the film, I could not help but get a sense of how the Arabian culture was being romanticized through a Western lens. I could almost argue that, had this film been directed by someone of a different race other than Caucasian, the outcome and casting decisions for main leads would most likely have been different due to wanting to attain a higher level of cultural authenticity. The Thief of Bagdad was directed by non AAPI filmmakers Ludwig Berger, Michael Powell and Tim Whelan. Given this information, I can see how someone as a director would want to glamorize a culture in order to make it more visually appealing to audiences despite it being culturally inaccurate. At the time, Asians were still very much underrepresented in film and many roles would be lost to Caucasian actors so as to resonate with American audiences. Deleterious Med12 Mutation Of Fg Syndrome Deleterious MED12 Mutation in a Patient with Mitochondrial Dysfunction Expands the Phenotype of FG Syndrome ABSTRACT: Mutations in the MED12 gene are associated with X linked intellectual disability (ID) which present phenotypically as FG syndrome or Lujan syndrome. The two disorders have overlapping features of ID, hypotonia, and corpus callosum abnormalities but physical features differ . Carrier females are typically unaffected. Mitochondrial dysfunction has not been previously described. Herein, we report a 7 year old male with features of FG syndrome, hypogammoglobulinemia, mitochondrial dysfunction, and normal IQ found to have a de novo deleterious MED12 mutation on whole exome sequencing. This case expands the phenotype of MED12 related disorders. In addition, hypogammoglobulinemia documented in this patient may explain the frequent infections reported in other patients with MED12 mutations. INTRODUCTION: The definition of FG syndrome is based on original observations by Opitz and Kaveggia in 1974. They described a case of 3 brothers and their 2 male first cousins with an undescribed X linked mental retardation syndrome. They were also affected with macrocephaly, imperforate anus and congenital hypotonia and agenesis of the corpus callosum . This essay will discuss to what extent or if at all chief executive salaries are excessive and should be regulated. I will be arguing for the opinion that chief executive salaries are excessive and should be regulated, as on average chief executive officers earn up to 180 times more than the average UK employee earns a year (M West 2016) which may lead to demotivation of the workforce and reduce overall productivity and reputation of the company. The outline of the essay is as follows, I will discuss points supporting the opinion that chief executives are overpaid and require regulation as well as points opposing this opinion. 2.MOTIVATION AND WAGE GAP Excessive is defined as anything that is more than necessary, and something is only regulated when it has negative impacts. The salaries of chief executives may be considered excessive when regular employees are demotivated by the significant gap between their wages, the CPID released research that more than half of UK employees believed high levels of chief executive pay demotivated them at work and is bad for the reputation of the business (M West 2016). • 34. Why Was The Peloponnesian War Inevitable Good morning/afternoon students. Today I am going to be talking about the Peloponnesian war and why it was inevitable. The Peloponnesian war was fought between the two city states in ancient Greece, being Athens and Sparta. These two cities had alliances that, between them, included close to every Greek city state. The Peloponnesian war was inevitable because Athens was too hungry for power, and tried to take total control of Greece. Athens s growth in military and economic power led to the beginning of a bloody war. Athens and Sparta were both dominant powers in ancient Greece. However, a legendary rivalry existed between the two. When Athens ended its alliance with Corcyra in 433 B.C. and began to surround Potidaea, it threatened Corinth s position. Sparta feared that Athens was becoming too powerful and tried to avert war. The Spartans believed that peace was possible if the Athenians would revoke measures against Sparta s ally, Megara. The Athenian leader, Pericles, refused to concur with this because Sparta and Athens had earlier agreed that conflicts would be solved by negotiation. If the Athenians would yield to Sparta s request, they would in fact be accepting Sparta s orders. This was unacceptable, and as a result, war broke out. Athens and its Delian League were attacked by Sparta and its Peloponnesian League. Diodorus mentions that the Spartans did not just declare war, but sought additional support from Persia. The Peloponnesian War changed Greece and nothing was the same after the war. Athens was never to be as powerful again. As a result of the war, the Athenian Empire was never the same again because of the change in the balance of power in the Greek world. This greatly alarmed Sparta and its allies. The aggressive policies of Athens did not de escalate the situation whilst the ambitions of the city state certainly provoked the Spartans. Increasingly, the Spartans became very nervous about the growing naval and commercial power of Athens. Pericles would have been willing to negotiate had not the slow moving but deliberate Spartans backed him into a corner with their ultimatum. • 37. Lack of Female Characters in The Strange Case of Dr.... Even the most casual reader can note the fact that there are very few female characters present in Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Those that are found within the work hardly constitute as substantial ones none of the women have more than a few lines of dialogue and appear within the tale for longer than a chapter or two. A bevy of critics have pointed out the fact that such an egregious omission is hardly coincidental in fact, more than a few have cited the fact that this piece of literature functions as a protest regarding the degree of women s liberation that the New Womanpossessed near the turn of the 20th century in Victorian England (Reed 2). When considered through this feminist lens, it becomes easily discernible to the prudent reader that Stevenson portrayed no femalecharacters in a positive light and simply used them to reinforce negative aspects of femininity, which he believed were rapidly changing for the worse. Some critics have advanced the notion that one of the reasons there is such a paucity of women and of strong, beneficent women in particular within this story is due to what they represented in typical Victorian England society. Women were generally viewed as a social force or a source of authority which reinforces this fiction of coherent male identity (Doane and Hodges 63). However, the author also indicates, each model has strengths and weaknesses thus one should consider three criteria when selecting a model (Snyder, 2011). The requirements to examine when choosing a model are: is the model solidly grounded on Scripture, is the model faithful to the character of Jesus Christ as witnessed in Scripture, and whether the model is relevant to present age (Snyder, 2011). • 39. The High School Dropout Rate 1. If society were to reduce the local high school dropout rate, then I believe that society could progress rapidly with more skilled thinkers in the workforce. When a student drops out of high school, he or she is far less likely to succeed. This is due to the fact that most, if not all, skilled jobs that earn a decent living salary require a high schooldiploma at the very least. By decreasing the local high school dropoutrate, our society would be giving those would be dropouts an opportunity to succeed and earn a higher position in society. There is currently a decline in the high school dropout rate, however this decline is very slight and would hardly be noticeable in the short term. The reasons as to why high school students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The current situation of high school students dropping out has been steadily declining since the early 1990 s. This could serve society very well if that trend continues to a point where dropping out of high school become relatively unheard of. A social dysfunction of high school is that it creates a class system between those with a high school diploma and those without one. The manifest function of high school is to provide people with the skills and critical thinking ability to obtain some type base level skilled work as well as provides a way to help keep kids safe and out of trouble. In contrast, a high school dropout would have none of those functions and would likely not be employed in skilled work and as a result might have to turn to criminal activities for an income. I do not believe that there is any group that benefits from high school students dropping out. People who drop out of high school will usually have to rely on government subsidies, which in turn will burden the general population due to higher taxes. I believe that if the high school dropout rate were to be less than one percent, then society would progress more rapidly due to more skilled thinkers in the workforce. One of the ways that this could be done is by addressing what I believe to be the main cause of dropping out which is a lack of academic support. Love can be things that are not always what they seem and or it can be foolish and it can also be a weakness. The audience sees that later on in the play all the love that is being described is foolish as well as something a child would do. The love that is being described can not happen for a certain reason and when the characters find out that someone loves them and they were not just saying that they would do something for them, the character just sort of accepts it and let fate intervene and take place. Mrs Mallard represents this quote in the short story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin. One day, Mrs. Mallard, the protagonist received the news that her husband had died in a railroad accident. Once she had heard this, she went to her room and started to sob. She was sad that her husband died, yet she often had not loved him. Since the first human study in 2006, BA is commonly found in most popular pre workout supplements on the market today (Trexler, et al., 2015). BA is a naturally occurring amino acid produced in the liver. BA is also contained in animal proteins such as turkey and beef, and therefore can be increased somewhat through the consumption of animal protein. Significant increases, however, require various means of supplementation. Beta alanine has been cited as a rate limiting precursor to carnosine synthesis (Harris, et al., 2006). Additional roles of carnosine beyond Ca2+ regulation and pH buffer include its ability to act as a scavenger of free radicals and singlet oxygen, both of which are not only damaging, but also limit performance (Kohen, et al.,1988). Regarding BA supplementation and administration, there has been some opposing views on which means of supplementation is most beneficial. Some research suggests that BA is most effective when front loaded. Consuming 4 to 6g per day, preferably with meals has demonstrated the maximum desired effect, with more significant benefits seen after four weeks (Harris, et al., 2009; Stegen, et al., 2013). Some clinicians, however, maintain that oral administration is minimally effective. A 2016 study by Sharpe, Macias demonstrated a definite improvement in performance in short duration, high intensity exercise by athletes using a topical gel to administer carnosine transdermally. The study does maintain that more testing does need to be done, however, brings up scientific reasons why oral ingestion may be less efficient due to GI damage to the supplement. The purpose of this literature review is to provide insight into the effects of beta alanine in performance. The research demonstrates that BA ingestion is, in fact, beneficial to athletic performance, with a significant portion of data showing it is more efficient in shorter duration, moderate to high intensity activities lasting 60 to 240 seconds specifically. ... It also ensures that fair trade practices are implemented. Moreover, these laws ensure that there is free flow of information in the marketplace (Cranston, 1978). Consumer protectionlaws are supposed to stop businesses from gaining an unfair advantage over competitors. At the same time, it protects all stakeholders from fraud that may be perpetrated by the business. Other than customers, these laws provide protection for the vulnerable consumers in society. The four consumerrights are the rights of safety, of information, of choice and the right to be heard (Bevans, 2011). Before the end of the twentieth century, consumer rights were limited. This was about customer product interaction as well as commercial producers. Consumers could not defend themselves against defective products as well as misleading advertising methods. The consumer movement began to gather momentum with greater member numbers. Things were better at the close of the 1950s whereby an aggrieved customer only had to show injury following the use of the product. This was unlike earlier times when consumers had no protection against corporate negligence. The person who drafted the Consumer Bill of Rights was Helen Ewing Nelson. Dual Relationships Essay Geyer (1994) defines dual relationships as occurring when a mental health practitioner, relates to a client in roles other than that of a mental health practitioner outside the therapeutic context (p.187). Areas outside of context may include church, social gatherings, and organized events to name a few. The term dual relationship is interchangeably used with multiple relationships or nonprofessional relations. Corey et al. (2011) further defines this role as a professional who assumes multiple, two or more, roles at the same time with a client. The following paper will look to address a literature review of dual relationships along with a review of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT) and American Counseling Association (ACA) ethics codes regarding the topic. I will further provide personal reflections and values as they relate to dual relationships. In closing I will provide an ethical resolution to a hypothetical case and provide final thoughts. Introduction In clinical practice it is wise for mental health professionals to monitor boundary crossing or multiple relationships. These roles have the potential for therapist to use power inappropriately through influence or exploitation of clients. The Lake Tahoe basin is divided by the scenic and beautiful border of California and Nevada. The gorgeous lake is, ...admired for its great depth and clarity and beautiful alpine surroundings (tahoe.usgs.gov). The mountain ranges around the perimeter of the basin were formed 24 million years ago by the rise and fall of the earth s crust due to the movement of faults. The Carson Range to the east was created by tilt block faulting and resulted in a very steep mountain range (tahoeadventuresports.com). Another fault created the Sierra Nevada range to the west, but is more of a gentle change in elevation. As the fault blocks were thrown up, the high peaks of the mountain ranges were created and as other fault blocks were thrown down, a valley was created. Some of the peaks of the ranges can reach over 10,000 feet above sea level, making an exaggerated difference between the lake and the ranges. Movement of other faults in the area caused the valley to sink thousands of feet below the mountains on the east and west. Volcanic activity from Mt. Pluto on the north shore resulted in lava flowing and blocking the outlet of the newly developing valley. About 3 million years ago the ice age created glaciers in the Sierra Nevada. As they moved and scoured the land, lakes were created behind them as piles of granite rock were left to block the outflow of water from melted snow and rainfall.
