We ll never bring out just a me too product echoed in every department. The Gillette Connection
In 1967, the Braun brothers sold the company to an American consumer products giant, Gillette.
The Gillette Company, well known for its mass produced, mass marketed products like razors,
blades, and toiletries, hardly seemed the company to become the parent of an elite class German
firm. But Gillette was no stranger to Europe, having marketed its goods on the continent and in
Britain since the turn of the twentieth century. It now saw the Braun acquisition as an opportunity
to cover the dry end of the shaving business, as well as to extend its influence upward. Braun, for
its part, had by 1967 grown to over 5,700 employees and operated in 144 countries, but it was too
small to compete with the multinationals. Its management saw Gillette as a source of funding to
enable them to do so. Shortly afterwards, Braun moved its headquarters from Frankfurt to
Kronberg, a few kilometers away. For the first several years, Gillette left Braun s product strategy
intact while infusing some of its management expertise into the organization. Very few people knew
that this German company par excellence had an American owner. Braun expanded its operations in
other countries and began to extend its target markets beyond the opinion leaders it had originally
cultivated. Braun s Spanish operations were a case in point.

Mrs. Turpin In Revelation
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged Matthew
7:13 KJV. Mrs. Turpin in the short story Revelation is full of judgment. Revelation written by
Flannery O Connor (1964) is about a lady who deems herself as clean and Christian. It does not
take long to realize that she is not quite the Christian she claims to be. During a routine visit to
the doctor Mr. Turpin has much to say about others and the reaction of a young woman named
upsets Mrs. Turpin greatly. However because of the events that take place that day Mrs. Turpin
eventual sees herself for the person she is and the error of her ways. Mrs. Turpin is quick to pass
judgment on others. She and her husband Claud go to the Doctor s... Show more content on

Mrs. Turpin s response to that question is Please, Jesus, please just wait until there is another
place available (320). But this is not an option so she chooses to be a Nigger . And he would
have made her a neat clean respectable Negro woman (320). In this last passage Mrs. Turpin
changes her wording. She no longer uses the word nigger but instead uses the word Negro and
later black as though her being black makes it more dignified. Mrs. Turpin certainly did not want
to be white trash . When the lady that she refer to as such tried to be part of conversation she
acted as if they lady no right to even speak. Mrs. Turpin could not handle Mary Grace s comment
after the attack. Go back to hell where you came from, you old wart hog she saw with pleasure
that her message had struck its target (326). Mary Grace utters these words to Mrs. Turpin and
they do strike her in a very deep way. She cannot get past those words and begins to obsess over
them. She gets angry and says How am I a hog Exactly how and I like them (330). A final surge
of fury shook her and she roared Who do you think you are? (331). In that moment I think she
realizes the hypocrisy of what she has said. Just who did she think she

Spatial Rhythm and Poetic Invention in William Carlos...
William Carlos Williams was fascinated by the ways in which living organisms and inert matter
occupy space how they move in it, or cannot move, are cramped or allowed to roam freely and
how the space inside organisms and matter is charted, perceived, and manipulated. Williams s
preoccupation with actual space in the material world is paralleled by his formal experimentations
with the placement of words on the page. Without invention nothing is well spaced (P 50), Williams
writes at the beginning of Sundayin the Park, raising the question, what does well spaced mean for
Williams? How can the world and how can poetry be well spaced? The aim of this paper is to look
at the relationship between Williams s use of what I will call... Show more content on

In the opening lines of Sunday in the Park, Dr. P. s walk through the park becomes a metaphor not
only for sexual intercourse but for poetic production:
Outside outside myself there is a world, he rumbled, subject to my incursions

(to me) at rest, which I approach concretely The scene s the Park upon the rock, female to the city
upon whose body Paterson instructs his thoughts
The link between walking, coitus, and creativity is part of a larger framework in Sunday in which
biological processes and various kinds of movement through space what I am calling spatial
rhythms are used to explore the nature of poetry.
One only has to look at the configuration of words on the page to know that for Williams well
spaced involves not regularity but constant change and surprise. Williams s manipulation of space,
both on the page and in the Park, is, in this section of Paterson, the main tool used to create the
structure that M. L. Rosenthal and Sally Gall have described as characteristic of the modern poetic
sequence, a structure that is not predominantly narrative or dramatic, but lyrical, a progression of
specific qualities and intensities. [1] This rhythm corresponds to a cyclicity of mood that can be
described as manic depresive or, to use Rosenthal s and Gall s term, cyclothymic.[2] Corresponding
to this constantly changing tone is a space that is

Learning New Concepts And Points Of View
For my flexibility, it says that I take a highly flexible approach to life and are likely very open to
new and changing ideas and circumstances. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my
life so far I have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else
that was going on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general.
I agree with this too, because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because
it was something different. Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new
concepts and exploring differing points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely
agree to, because yes I am open to new ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts
and points of view. One example is when I was suppose to tutor a girl in my high schooland she was
having problems finding a time that would work for both of us. I came up with a time during
school that we could meet and I told her that she could come up with any day Monday through
Friday at the time that we had determined would work best for both of us.
My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion
for society and act act as a champion for making a difference. The other one says that I likely
gain deeper connection to the welfare of others and as a result, gain a broad perspective of others
struggles. I have always felt that I have had a strong

The Hittite, Jewish, Phoenician, Persian, And Assyrians
The Hittite, Jewish, Phoenician, Persian, and Assyrians nations are all very important nations
within Mesopotamia. They share similar attributes but differ at the same time. The HIttites were
one of the great empires of the Middle East during 1400 1200 BC. THey rested within the lands of
modern Turkey and Syria. They adopted some of the traditions of Mesopotamia(i.e. cuneiform
writing). Widely known for their use and manufacturing of iron, the Hittites were also famous for
their chariot building. The Hittite empire soon fell to the Assyrians. The Jewish were led to Israel
by one of their patriarchs, Abraham, around 1950 B.C.E. Throughout time, the Israelites were

Sone, they became expert sailors and grew wealthy from trade. The creation of the Phoenician
alphabet is one of the greatest accomplishments they achieved and was used by many other
civilizations. With the founding of Carthage and other colonies, the use of paryus before the
Greeks is a few of their other achievements. In 550 B.C.E. to 331 B.C.E. the Persian empire went
from India all the way to Europe. Cyrus the Great was one of Persia s kings. The geography
limited trade with other neighboring civilizations. Persia conquered Anatolia for the purpose of the
use of their seaports for trade. Cyrus son created the Persian satrap (governors). After
unsuccessfully invading Greece, due to the rebellions within the civilizations, Persia was
conquered by Alexander the Great. The Assyrian empire spans over modern day Turkey, Syria,
Iraq, and Iran. The rivers Tigris and Euphrates both ran through the Assyrian empire which also
contained rich and fertile land. The spoken languages they used were Akkadian and Assyrian (
Assyrian Neo Aramaic) while writing with cuneiform. The Assyrians participated in the religions
Ashurism and Christianity. Assyrians were often militaristic and known their advanced and
developed strategies. The Assyrians were known for their highly aggressive behavior during war as
well as their technological

Essay on Ethical Computer Hacking
Have you ever been a victim of a cyber crime? Something as simple as a weird pop up that won t
go away? Or maybe something a little bit more serious like your personal web page gets hi

hacker, per se, but more the work of a cracker or a script kiddie . Now you re confused right?
Well let s just say everyone who knows how manipulate a computer isn t doing it on bad and evil

These are the people setting the very negative example of computer literate people around the
world. They know no morals, or ethical value behind what they do, but to compromise, and cause

Hat Hackers. While Black Hat hackers illegally crack into systems for malicious reasons, their
White Hat counterparts probe and test for security flaws and IT research (Black Hat/White Hat).
The term hacker can be explained as a person who enjoys learning the details of a computer
system and how to stretch their capabilities beyond a person who learns the bare minimum to
use a computer (Palmer). By this definition, a hacker can be anyone who is willing to expand
their knowledge with a computer to better benefit themselves, or more importantly, others. Many
people disregard the ethical sense to hacking and believe all forms of hacking to be unjust,
which is untrue, but hacking can be very beneficial. White Hat, or Ethical Hacking can be very
useful by having security professionals attempt to break in to explore and try to exploiting
systems to discover a loop hole or security flaw in a network. This is similar to having independent
auditors come into an organization to verify its bookkeeping records. These White Hat hackers are
usually experts in their field and use the

The Symbolism Of The Pardoner In The Canterbury Tales
A pardoner is a person whom is to give passes or pardons to the people who he or she is doing
good acts. The pardoner is also a person of the church so, he should be a person for the people of
the church to look up to. He should also live a very simple life, in this piece of writing the
pardoner does not live up to these expectations and often completes worst acts that the reader
would not expect from a person of the church. Throughout the story we see many examples of
why the pardoner in this story is not a morally good character. We are first introduced to the
pardoner in the prologue. The author tells us of his appearance is not very appealing to the reader,

My Trip At The Airport
It was a Sunday evening when my parents told us we were going on a trip. My younger brother
Charlie and I were so excited since we ve never been out of the country before. We would be gone
for only a week so I had to fit in as much as possible, I wanted to see all the history and culture
this small country offered. I did all my research on it before we left and I even taught myself
common terms. The day we left was a day I will never forget; I remember sitting at the airport
shaking my leg like crazy because I was so eager to go. Flying there felt like forever but, the
moment I saw the prodigious green mountains, I was astonished. The second I stepped outside the

After being very indecisive, we knew what to do. We wanted to take the Golden circle. It s
basically a route in South Iceland covering some of the major landmarks. The next day we woke
up pretty early so we could accomplish the whole route by the end of the day. The first place we
headed for was the geyser in Haukadalur. It didn t take that long to get there, it was actually very
beautiful on the way. It was all open land and mountains. The Geyser was incredible. It was a
huge piece of brown land, like mud, with a giant hole in the middle. The hole was filled with
water that boiled for about 10 minutes and then erupted through the ground at nearly 40 m high.
After we stood there watching it erupt probably 3 times, we decided to go to our next stop:
Гћingvelli National park. It was one of the most breathtaking places I d ever seen. There were
huge black rock formations with slightly green grass covering certain areas. Small streams ran
through the whole thing. We hiked through a lot of it before we went to the Gullfoss Waterfall.
It wasn t like any other waterfall. It was a waterfall on top of another waterfall. It stretched out
far and you could see the glistening of a rainbow form on top of it. We walked along the trail
beside it getting splashed with water. I just couldn t believe my eyes. It was like nothing I ve ever
seen before. I wanted to stay there forever and just stare at this magnificent

The Euphio Question By Kurt Vonnegut Analysis
Imagine if there is a device that can make a person happy with a small price to pay. That device is
created in the passage The Euphio Question by Kurt Vonnegut. The Euphio device makes the
people in the story feel calm and peaceful. If I were on the FCC board deciding whether to allow
manufacture and distribution of the Euphio device, I would only have a limited production. In the
passage The Euphio Question by Kurt Vonnegut, the Euphio device makes the people in the story

Photographer Techniques
A good photographer knows how to use some little tricks to create a pretty scene, and the good
photographer knows how to use small techniques to build the mood for the photo. Pretty scene
and mood of the photo together create the meaning for the photo, and they allure people to step
into the photo. Some of the techniques that used to make a photo looks pretty is the lighting of
the photo, and the angle of that photo. And some tricks that are used to create a photo are models,
sand, fake fog, etc. Photographer just needs a little bit of tricks to create a deep meaning of the
photo. The first photo shows a mysterious wardrobe that stands in the middle of some nowhere
desert. The wardrobe is surrounded by cloudand fog. The sky is not clear, and it does not present
the sky bluecolor. Instead, the sky is cloudy and gloomy. It seems like some important but
mysterious event is in prepare to happen. Then suddenly appears a mysterious wardrobe on the
desert under the gloomy sky. The rocks on the ground follows by the stone stair lead the way...

tightly together all show that he is afraid any additional actions might mess up the model. The
man holds a white cup with fake fog on it. He carefully uses his right hand to spill the fog around
the wardrobe, and he uses his left hand to hold on to the stone and adjust the wardrobe. Third photo
shows a camera in front of the model. Model is put on a table in the beach, and it is put under the
cloudy but not gloomy sky. The camera stands so close to the wardrobe because the wardrobe is
small. Then the photo is taken, and the first photo appears. Photographer then change the
background color of the first photo to make it seems gloomy and

When Dean recognized his favorite song song, a smile tugged at the corners of his lips, his eyes

his wrinkled hand into mine. We sway to the beat, back and forth, to and fro, all while Dean s

Louis Armstrong crooned in the background and a hunchbacked man smiled at me from across the

As Open Circle s staff started to assign students to different clients in the large room, I struggled
to not let the disappointment show on my face. Here I was, excited to spend a day with little kids:
playing dress up, Barbies, hide and go seek, but instead, I ended in up in an old folks home. I
sighed heavily, at least I got out of gym class.
One of the staff members looked at me. McCrae, how about you go talk to Dean.
I scanned the room, looking for a name tag labeled Dean. And there it was, plastered to the

So, Dean, how are you?

The functional costs of marketing, financing, and administration are gathered in cost pools, and
they are used in the time that they are incurred, these costs are not considered as product costs and
they are unrelated to precise products in product profitability comparisons
Full costing regards all costs to be product costs. Therefore, all overhead costs are assigned to costs
of production for specific products. Traditional costing contains only the costs for those elements
that change with the production of an added unit of good or service.
Difference between ABC and TCA
Both traditional costing and activity based costing methods estimate overhead costs connected to
production and allocate these costs to products based on a cost driver rate. The differences are in
the precision and density of the two methods. Traditional costing is more basic and less accurate
than ABC, and typically gives overhead costs to products based on a subjective average rate. ABC
is more complicated and more accurate than traditional costing. This technique gives indirect costs
to activities and then gives the costs to products based on the products practice of the activities. It
is widely known that the traditional costing system uses a single, volume based cost driver. This is
why the traditional product costing system alters the cost of products. In most cases this type of
costing system gives the overhead costs to products on

Analysis Of The Book Redeployment By Phil Klay Essay
In the United States, thousands of men and woman join the army every year. Post war trauma
effects can influence the emotional and psychological state of the soldier when coming back
from combat or reentering civilian life, however, people are not fully aware of such problem.
Winner of the 2014 National Book Award for fiction, Phil Klay in his first book Redeployment,
delivers readers a unique experience to the front lines of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
through the narratives of different characters and their experiences. The first chapter
Redeployment exposes the life of a soldier reentering civilian life, who takes action for the life of
his suffering dog Vicar after killing hundreds of dogs during the war while having to address his
post war emotional and psychological state. The last chapter of Redeployment, Ten Kliks South,
a Lance Corporal gives the readers an insight of his emotional and psychological state after a
mass shooting on a nearby location. In consequence of his lack of experience in the battlefield, the
Lance Corporal is faced with several questions, while searching for the true responsible for the
fatalities caused by the U.S. soldiers. Both chapters demonstrate a connection as they portray the
effects of the war on the emotional and psychological state of the main characters of the two
chapters discussed. Such stories help bring awareness to the readers about the importance in
understanding how situations can affect the life of soldiers in real life,

EXERCISE FOR GAINING POWER Essay
EXERCISE FOR GAINING POWER (Total time 15 minutes)
Rosabeth Kanter (1979) argues that much of what is labeled poor management in organizations is
simply individuals protecting their diminished power bases. Instead of criticizing these managers as
incompetent, she proposes we bolster their feelings of personal power. If we solve the real problem
of perceived lack of power, the undesirable symptoms of poor leadership often evaporate. This
point of view is consistent with the principles discussed in this chapter.
Assignment
In this exercise, you are asked to give advice to individuals who feel powerless. For each of the
situations below, form groups to explore opportunities for enhancing the power base of these three

Situation 2: Staff Professional
Shawn Quinn came to the organization a year ago as a staff professional. He believed it might be
a way for him to achieve considerable visibility with the top brass, but instead he felt isolated and
forgotten. As a staff officer, he had almost no decision making authority except in his narrow area
of expertise. Most of what went on in the organization occurred without his involvement.
Innovation and entrepreneurial activity were completely out of his realm. While some of the line
officers were given opportunities for professional development, no one seemed to care about his
becoming more experienced and capable. They saw him only as a specialist. Because his job didn t
require that he work with others, he had little opportunity to cultivate relationships that might lead
to contacts with someone near the top. What hurt was that a consultant had been hired a few times
to work on projects that were part of his area. If consultants could be brought in to do his work, he
thought, he must not be very important to the organization. Shawn found himself being more and
more turf conscious. He didn t want others encroaching on his area of expertise. He tried to
demonstrate his competence to others, but the more he did so,

Narratives are the culturally historical symbols and memories nation s use to uphold modern
values, customs, and practices. Through the course of history and the collective memory of the
people, a variety of narratives are formed; and while some last in the mainstream, other narratives
fade into the background of the national and practiced culture. However, these narratives do not
necessarily disappear, and some remain relatively strong in the mentalities of the public―even in
times of legitimate and/or long lasting hegemonic values that stand in opposition. This paper will

Reflection Of The Illinois Symphony Orchestra
The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Concert on October 14th featured three pieces; The Birds,
Concerto for Violin, Cello, Piano, and Orchestra in C Major, and Symphony No.5. All the pieces
were lovely and were entertaining to listen to. This concert also featured the Hersh Trio, comprised
of Alexander Hersh on the cello, Stefan Hersh on the violin, and Paul Hersh on the piano, which the
orchestraaccompanied for one piece.
The first piece played by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra was The Birds composed by
Ottorino Respighi. Ottorino Respighi is best known for his orchestral tone poems, such as
Fountains of Rome. He based his work, The Birds, off of 16th, 17th, and 18th century style
music because he had an interest in music from these eras as a musicologist. There are five
movements; Preludio, La Colomba, La Gallina, L Usignolo, and Il Cuccu. They are meant to
resemble types of birds. For example, La Colomba means dove, La Gallina means hen. The first
movement, Preludio, was light and airy. This was a good piece to start with because of its playful
melody. There was a large ritardando into a new melody that clearly resembled sounds of a bird.
The second theme sounded fluttery because of the trills. The movement then returned to the first
theme and ended on a large chord. The second movement, La Colomba, didn t start out nearly as
upbeat and jittery as the previous movement. Given the context of the name, this makes more sense

The newly appointed CEO, Scott Livengood, realized the problem with the sluggish sales was
because of the company s current strategy.
After becoming CEO, president, and chairman of the board in 1999, the company repositioned and
focused on being a specialty retailer rather than a wholesale bakery. Krispy Kreme wanted to give
their customers the hot doughnut experience they all knew and loved (Peter Donnelly, 2011). The
second part of their plan was to increase the number of stores both franchises, and company
owned nationally. The company began to move into other regions. For example, in 1996 the first
store in NY City was opened, and in 1999 the first store in California opened. In early 2000, the
company went public and merged into a new company called Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc.,
instead of Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation. From 2000 2004, the number of stores has
proliferated from 144 to 357 and Krispy Kreme is now beginning to open in international locations,
opening the first factory in London. They now also have locations in Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
SITUATION ANALYSIS
MARKET SUMMARY:
Krispy Kreme focuses on opening their stores in large, populated cities in the United States such as

The Struggle Between Gestational Surrogacy And Adoption
Surrogacy is a good alternative for couples struggling with infertility who wish to have a
biological child. Many couples struggle for years trying to have a child. This can be a very
emotional process to deal with especially when each person involved blames themselves for the
lack of conception. Some unconventional couples would not be able to have a child without
surrogacy. Surrogacy is also a good option for single people who want a child without a significant
other.
There are many ways for infertile individuals to have a child. One option is adoption. Adoption
is very expensive, time consuming, and only available for certain people. Unconventional
couples, single people, and older people might have a tougher time passing the strict guidelines
for adoptive parents. It also may take many years to find a child to adopt, and if you do find one it
might be an older child. Many couples looking to adopt want a baby. Also, many... Show more

Pornography Abuse And Violence Against Women
There are obvious problems with society today regarding the presence of sexual violence and
rape. The cause of these crimes is difficult to isolate, as it is also difficult material for researchers
to complete studies on. We need a better definition of abuse, and it needs to be stated that the
intelligence and mental instability can affect a man s actions. There can be a place in relationships
for pornography as well, where women are consenting and desire to explore different material, not
necessarily being dehumanized. While Fight the New Drug and Samantha Grey, the author of, A
Letter to Men: Porn is Not Just Women s Problem, both present claims that pornography
consumption leads to violenceagainst women, and plea for society to reject pornography, there are
unanswered questions and overlooked aspects that leave their argument unconvincing. A guideline
of what defines abuse and violence needs to be established to properly examine pornography
material. The texts presented high percentages of violence existing in the pornography films that
were used to formulate data. However, there are no specifics regarding what violence is. Did the
standards include elements of dirty talk, kink, spanking, or BDSM? Fight the New Drug states that

The Major Development Of The Persian Empire
The Persian Empire originated as a result of the great king known as Cyrus who united the
Mediterranean and Asia Minor into one United Kingdom. Many of Cyrus qualities as a leader led
to the Persians unspoken success in expanding their civilization into the largest and most powerful
empire the world had ever seen. His campaign inspired the Persians to develop their nation by
making expeditions through Media, Babylonia, Lydia, and Egypt. These four provinces had a
major affect on Cyrus vision of creating an unstoppable empire. Therefore this opened a lot of
possibilities for Cyrus and his army as they planned to conquer these regions of Asia Minor.
There were many reasons as to why Cyrus was so successful and the main reason was his ability
to be so humble and welcoming to his enemies. Through his strength in military command,
imperial administration, and respect for his people he forged an Empire that became one of the
strongest powers in Asia Minor. Media was one of the four provinces that were crucial for the
major development of the Persian Empire. Cyrus believed that with the unification of the four
major provinces into a satrapy that he could create a strong standing civilization. Cyrus was
known for his behavior and ability to inspire and lead as a strong military commander as
described by Cook when he says, at the age of ten his fearless behavior brought him to the notice of
Astyages, who recognized him as his own grandson (Cook, 25). This demonstrated that

Social Values in King Lear
In King Lear, Shakespeare portrays a society whose emphasis on social class results in a strict
social hierarchy fueled by the unceasing desire to improve one s social status. It is this desire for
improved social status that led to the unintentional deterioration of the social hierarchy in King
Lear. This desire becomes so great that Edmund, Goneril, Reagan and Cornwall were willing to act
contrary to the authority of the social hierarchy for the betterment of their own position within it.
As the plot unfolds, the actions of the aforementioned characters get progressively more desperate
and destructive as they realize their lack of success in attaining their personal goals. The goals vary,

Larynx Essay
Speech production is essentially the structures along the vocal tract that work together to modify
the airstream and this can be greatly affected when someone has cancer of the Larynx. Laryngeal
cancer, also known as Laryngeal Carcinoma, develops as a result of malignant cells that form in the
tissues of the larynxand can be potentially life threatening. The larynx is a frequent site for cancer
and accounts for 3 5% of human cancers. The larynx is critical for speech so anything that affects
the larynx will disrupt the natural flow of vocal communication, especially something as extreme
as Laryngeal Cancer. A person who undergoes procedures and surgeries to rid these cancerous
cells can often result in a loss of speech. However, a person may have the opportunity to continue
living as normally as possible with the use of Esophageal Speech. Although a person has to adapt
to this new method of speaking, it allows them to still express themselves with their voice, even
after surgery.
The Larynx is located at the trachea and at the base of the tongue, consisting of three main parts
known as Supraglottis, Glottis and Subglottis which all work together to create a properly working
Larynx. It separates humans from other mammals because it is responsible for voice resonance and
spoken language. The larynx is essential for many other bodily functions including swallowing,
phonation and respiration. However, the larynx can be broken down into two primary functions

For this assignment, I chose to write about the exemption for whaling issue. Whaling has existed in

although much of the whaling industry is centric around non endangered species of whales, the

Falling Down Sequence
The opening sequence in the film Falling Down portrays how everyday activities can take a turn
for the worst. It begins with the main character William Foster stuck in a traffic jam on the
highway caused by construction. The first shot that opens the scene is an extreme close up of
Foster s face, which allows the audience to see him in great detail. We see by his heavy breathing
and sweat dripping down his face that he is in a hot environment. The camera starts to zoom out
and go into a tracking shot, which allows us to see the environment that surrounds him. This is
also an establishing shot. The car directly in front of Foster has a young girl starring out the back

As the scene progresses, you see how each event is causing Foster s temper to rise and his patience
to grow thinner. Foster constantly plays with his AC unit, which is broken, reinforcing that the
temperature outside is hot. Another factor adding to his frustration is the fly stuck in his car. It is
buzzing around him and repeatedly landing on his neck causing him to keep swatting at it. The
usage of quick cuts gives the impression of tension building up for the character throughout the
scene. This gives off the impression that something worse is constantly happening to Foster and
he is unable to escape his uncomfortable reality. The AC breaking, window roller broken, kids
screaming, cars honking and the heat wave itself are all shown so quickly so that the viewer is
seeing that everything is being thrown at Foster at once and that he is starting to feel very
claustrophobic and cannot seem to escape it. When everything hits its peak he decides to quickly
get out of his vehicle, which serves as his escape as the music and sounds subside to a normal level
and he is now calmer and decides to just walk home

How is education supposed to help us become better people, to have a better future yet it s
costing us way more then it should. Not only is the cost of books horrendous but the average
cost of college overall is horrendous. People constantly say stay in school! or a college degree is
the only way but how are we supposed to pay for it all? College books are costing us the same
amount as someone s rent. I understand that time, work and dedication goes into making these
books but this is our future. Our education, future career and future support is on the line. For
many people the cost of getting an education is the reason for dropping out or never returning. Its
sad when it comes down to people having to work two jobs to be able to pay it off. That s not
what education should be about and making us by these book at this outrageous price is wrong. In
school, no matter what grade, were always taught that dreams are limitless and that s true.
However, the price of getting their is higher than ever. We live in a society where it s all about
money and that effects our education and the books for it. How can we, as students, strive to be

for my fruit paint. The only part of my creation that would not be completely natural would be the

Research Paper On Science Vs Religion
Science versus Religion: How the universe came to be
Humanity has always struggled with the controversy of how the universe was created, since it is a
question without a definite answer. People tend to look to science and religion to solve this
problem. Christianity is the most followed religion, and evolution is the most popular scientific

Evolutionists, on the other hand, claim the earth and humanity came to be through the big bang.

Public schools are only allowed to teach evolution, while private schools tend to only teach
Christianity. Studies show when both views, Intelligent design theory and Evolution, are taught

claimed it dissuaded and offended their religion. I think this is not fair to the majority of
children, who are not offended by hearing more views on creation. People who are only taught
Evolution actually tend to be less likely to believe in evolution then if they are taught multiple
religions. A reason why this is also not taught in school is because science is always changing
with new technology, and obtaining new information about the world. This is a problem because
religion is never changing, or at least the basic principles of religion do not change. The basic
principles of science can change, and do change. There does not seem to be a place where both,

Anaconda Analysis
Operation Anaconda: Lessons of Unsound Planning
For the first eighteen days of March in the spring of 2002, coalition forces fought Al Qaeda and
the Taliban for the Shah i Kot Valley. The operation was named Anaconda because the intent of the
coalition forces was to surround and squeeze the Al Qaeda and Talibanforces in the Shah i Kot
Valley into suppression and destroy them. Operation Anaconda was the most aggressive plan of
Operation Enduring Freedom to that point, and ultimately, was a decisive coalition victory that
resulted in fragmented enemy forces in the area for years. However, during Operation Anaconda,
the Coalition Joint Task Force Commander and his staff made fundamental errors in the Joint
Operation Planning Process (JOPP) through assumptions, command relations, and unity of
command.
Assumptions
The United States Army 10th Mountain Division Commander (CJTF Mountain) accepted the
command and planning of Operation Anaconda in early February. The overall plan, originally
devised and designed by Special Operation Forces Command, called for coalition forces led by
Afghan Soldiers to drive into the Shah i Kot Valley while other U.S. forces and Afghan troops held
a blocking position. Based on intelligence estimates, CJTF Mountain and his staff planned for the
Al Qaeda and Taliban forces to flee into the mountains where U.S. forces were waiting to capture
them. Unfortunately, CJTF Mountain and his staff made many assumptions based on unverified

Steam filled the dense cubicle apartment as my mother cooked, cleaned, showered and dressed.
Despite her exhaustion and swollen ankles from hours spent on white floors of the hospital, she d
stand erect as a building, asking me to recite the words learned that day and review my
homework. I knew daren t turn on the TV during the weekday. When managing me and work
became too much, she d take me to work. During the commutes she whispered little words of
wisdom, one was to be still, listen and be vigilant .
Soon I had two siblings, and I became the second mother of the family. Our father was a lost cause,
constantly belittling my mother my family and myself for no valid reason; he said to me You ll
never succeed . My mother s resilience inspired me day by day. Susie, my loving aunt and
reflection of my mother also stood by our family side and served as a protector against my father.
She told me to keep going, to never look back, I am important, my grades matter, and that I was
beautiful.
My mother and I were with my aunt during her grim diagnosis of ovarian cancer; we sat
apprehensively for hours in the waiting room. We were please at the sound of remission, but for
long. Her last bittersweet moments were spent with us in her apartment. We braided her hair and
cooked her dinner. We wiped the salty mixture of sweat and tears off our faces. When she passed
my mother sobbed and told me she had died of a broken heart. Her husband was akin to my father,
so her strength

researcher and tech author Bernard Marr, every two days humanity creates as much data as it did
from the beginning of time to 2003. Every minute of the day, Facebook users share nearly 2.5

The Role Of Religion In Ancient Greece
Before philosophy began to question and challenge the religion of the Ancient Greeks, the people
heavily relied on mythology. The Greeks would tell stories/myths to try and make sense of the
physical world, why some things worked the way they did and the purpose of it all. As I ve
mentioned in my previous post, the Greeks were citizens who were unusually very superstitious.
They feared what they did not understand and had faith in magic or luck; they believed in and
relied on supernatural phenomenons.
Myths were stories that were created and used to teach the nature of the world, and to also explain
the importance of practicing certain rituals within their religion. These tales were also used to
discuss man s experience to teach an important

Exploring Black History Month
Black history Month, or as it used to be called National African American History Month, is a
yearly celebration of successes of Black Americans and realizing the role of African
Americans in the United States history. The event was changed from Negro History Week , which
was noted by prominent African Americans and Carter G. Woodson, into Black History
Month on the Month of February. Since then every United States president announced that the
month of February is Black History Month. There might be a president that won t do Black
History Month in the future but there might not be one in the past. Other countries around the
world also celebrate Black History Month but they celebrate the month on other months of the year.

Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay
Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era:
capitalist society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities
compared with previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new
group of people who was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this
society works. Marx was one of them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis
on class conflict and the society from economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s
theory in detail. Then I will explain how economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory
along with the role of these factors in the capitalist society.
Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He
sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself
and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as
capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally
accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time
were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are
major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as
middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the
proletariat, was described by

What Is Violation Of Philip Malloy s First Amendment Rights
Would you believe me if I told you a child was suspended for humming the national anthem? In
the book Nothing but the Truth by Avi, that is exactly what happens to 9th grader Philip Malloy.
Philip Malloy s rights were violated because, he has the right to freedom of speech, he was
suspended from school and he has the right to express his patriotism and in the book he was not
allowed to do these things. Philip was asked to stop humming when the national anthem was
being played. This violated his first amendment rights because he was not allowed to express
which is restricting his freedom of speech and that is clearly against the first amendment. The
first amendment is as follows: ...or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right
of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
(Cornell.edu)This means that nobody can stop you from talking or expressing whenever you want
and Philip was asked to stop talking during the national anthem. This is why Philip s rights were
violated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of this is when Tennessee high school student was suspended for saying bless
you because it was a classroom rule not to say bless you. (orlandosentinel.com)When she tried to
defend herself she was sent to the administrator s office for the rest of the day. Some people
might say that she broke a rule and should be suspended but I disagree. It shouldn t be a rule to
start with. Saying bless you if somebody sneezes is just being polite so you should not get
suspended over

would like to be treated.
How to Conduct Proper Introductions
Few people know how to conduct introductions in a proper fashion, yet they are an important
aspect of our daily life. In the social realm, men are introduced to women. In the business realm,
the less important person is introduced to the person of greater importance, regardless of either
gender. Though a key aspect to remember is that the name of the person being introduced is
mentioned last, and the person to whom the introduction is made is mentioned first. It is also
critical to remember that the client is the biggest priority, even if he/she holds a lesser title.
In the business world the handshake is the accepted physical greeting which accompanies the
introduction. With the entrance of women into the business world came kissing. This has caused
confusion in male female business etiquette, therefore, men and women should be treated equally
by using the handshake. In order to shake hands properly the thumbs are up and the webs touch
before wrapping the fingers around the other person s hand. Although, in social etiquette the woman
is to extend her hand first. In the business arena it is of no concern. Nametag placement is also
important so that it becomes easy to read while shaking hands. The nametag is to be placed

The Gillette Connection In 1967, the Braun brothers sold the company to an American consumer products giant, Gillette. The Gillette Company, well known for its mass produced, mass marketed products like razors, blades, and toiletries, hardly seemed the company to become the parent of an elite class German firm. But Gillette was no stranger to Europe, having marketed its goods on the continent and in Britain since the turn of the twentieth century. It now saw the Braun acquisition as an opportunity to cover the dry end of the shaving business, as well as to extend its influence upward. Braun, for its part, had by 1967 grown to over 5,700 employees and operated in 144 countries, but it was too small to compete with the multinationals. Its management saw Gillette as a source of funding to enable them to do so. Shortly afterwards, Braun moved its headquarters from Frankfurt to Kronberg, a few kilometers away. For the first several years, Gillette left Braun s product strategy intact while infusing some of its management expertise into the organization. Very few people knew that this German company par excellence had an American owner. Braun expanded its operations in other countries and began to extend its target markets beyond the opinion leaders it had originally cultivated. Braun s Spanish operations were a case in point. ... • 4. Spatial Rhythm and Poetic Invention in William Carlos... William Carlos Williams was fascinated by the ways in which living organisms and inert matter occupy space how they move in it, or cannot move, are cramped or allowed to roam freely and how the space inside organisms and matter is charted, perceived, and manipulated. Williams s preoccupation with actual space in the material world is paralleled by his formal experimentations with the placement of words on the page. Without invention nothing is well spaced (P 50), Williams writes at the beginning of Sundayin the Park, raising the question, what does well spaced mean for Williams? How can the world and how can poetry be well spaced? The aim of this paper is to look at the relationship between Williams s use of what I will call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the opening lines of Sunday in the Park, Dr. P. s walk through the park becomes a metaphor not only for sexual intercourse but for poetic production: Outside outside myself there is a world, he rumbled, subject to my incursions lt;BLOCKQUOTE lt; A (to me) at rest, which I approach concretely The scene s the Park upon the rock, female to the city upon whose body Paterson instructs his thoughts The link between walking, coitus, and creativity is part of a larger framework in Sunday in which biological processes and various kinds of movement through space what I am calling spatial rhythms are used to explore the nature of poetry. One only has to look at the configuration of words on the page to know that for Williams well spaced involves not regularity but constant change and surprise. Williams s manipulation of space, both on the page and in the Park, is, in this section of Paterson, the main tool used to create the structure that M. L. Rosenthal and Sally Gall have described as characteristic of the modern poetic sequence, a structure that is not predominantly narrative or dramatic, but lyrical, a progression of specific qualities and intensities. [1] This rhythm corresponds to a cyclicity of mood that can be described as manic depresive or, to use Rosenthal s and Gall s term, cyclothymic.[2] Corresponding to this constantly changing tone is a space that is ... I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too, because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different. Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I was suppose to tutor a girl in my high schooland she was having problems finding a time that would work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work best for both of us. My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion for society and act act as a champion for making a difference. In consequence of his lack of experience in the battlefield, the Lance Corporal is faced with several questions, while searching for the true responsible for the fatalities caused by the U.S. soldiers. • 27. Larynx Essay Speech production is essentially the structures along the vocal tract that work together to modify the airstream and this can be greatly affected when someone has cancer of the Larynx. Laryngeal cancer, also known as Laryngeal Carcinoma, develops as a result of malignant cells that form in the tissues of the larynxand can be potentially life threatening. The larynx is a frequent site for cancer and accounts for 3 5% of human cancers. The larynx is critical for speech so anything that affects the larynx will disrupt the natural flow of vocal communication, especially something as extreme as Laryngeal Cancer. A person who undergoes procedures and surgeries to rid these cancerous cells can often result in a loss of speech. However, a person may have the opportunity to continue living as normally as possible with the use of Esophageal Speech. Although a person has to adapt to this new method of speaking, it allows them to still express themselves with their voice, even after surgery. The Larynx is located at the trachea and at the base of the tongue, consisting of three main parts known as Supraglottis, Glottis and Subglottis which all work together to create a properly working Larynx. It separates humans from other mammals because it is responsible for voice resonance and spoken language. The larynx is essential for many other bodily functions including swallowing, phonation and respiration. However, the larynx can be broken down into two primary functions ... It begins with the main character William Foster stuck in a traffic jam on the highway caused by construction. The first shot that opens the scene is an extreme close up of Foster s face, which allows the audience to see him in great detail. We see by his heavy breathing and sweat dripping down his face that he is in a hot environment. The camera starts to zoom out and go into a tracking shot, which allows us to see the environment that surrounds him. This is also an establishing shot. The usage of quick cuts gives the impression of tension building up for the character throughout the scene. This gives off the impression that something worse is constantly happening to Foster and he is unable to escape his uncomfortable reality. The AC breaking, window roller broken, kids screaming, cars honking and the heat wave itself are all shown so quickly so that the viewer is seeing that everything is being thrown at Foster at once and that he is starting to feel very claustrophobic and cannot seem to escape it.
