William I Bastard Essay
William I of England was a bastard; an utter, utter, utter bastard. And he was illegitimate. Willy
spent his life in pursuit of money and power and ruthlessly attacked anyone who dared stand
between him and either. He caused the deaths of tens of thousands of men, women and children.
There isn t much nice to say about him. Some do say he was faithful to his wife. That s about it.
As far as we know he never played up. He often spent months away from his little woman but he
resisted the temptation of the flesh, and his suit of armour housed a pure and chaste Willy. Wow!
They should have made him a fucking saint, or perhaps more correctly, a non fucking saint.
William was a bastard but little Willy was a fucking angel.
So what made William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He looked for a new fight. The King of England died. Edward the Confessor was even more
guarded of his willy than William. He died childless, reputedly so chaste he was still a virgin at the
age of sixty plus. His wife, not wanting to be thought barren, loudly attested to his chastity. Unlike
William, Edward attained sainthood the ultimate non fucking saint.
That s not to say Edward was a saint. As greedy as any other king, he took bribes, and once had a
rebellious Welsh prince killed, and the head delivered to him. That s not very fucking saintly. But
not many saints were saintly. They were more about promoting the Roman Catholic Church as the
greatest show on Earth. Saints provided local appeal in areas the Pope never visited, and let s face
it, popes didn t get out of Rome much in those days.
This was believed to be true for a long time because it is recorded on the Bayeux Tapestry, for a
long time the main source of information on the history of the times, but the that embroidery was
commissioned by a relative of William s and contains a lot of propaganda to justify the Norman
rule of England. History is written by the

Evolution Of Barbie s Embodiment Of Pop Culture
The evolution of Barbie has been an interesting one. The doll has sparked countless debates, yet
has continued to be a defining icon for children for countless years, and will probably be so for
many more. Her changing fashion, careers and views could be easily attributed to the changing
views in our society and current fashions that have transfixed the world over time. Barbie is a
tangible embodiment of pop culturethroughout the years, she has managed to become popular and
stay popular, because she has done what many toys could not, she has grown to fit the world
around her, and by doing so has captivated generations.

The first of many changes being the introduction of the first official African American Barbie and
Latina Barbie, both of which were not released until 1980, twenty years after the first Barbie was
released. This year the newly released 2016 Barbie Fashionistas are available in four body types,
seven skin tones and 22 eye colours addressing long time criticism that the dolls did not accurately
reflect the modern woman. This change means more representation for women of colour, more
representation of a normal female body type, teaching young girls that white is not default and
anorexia is not beautiful. This links back to the much needed change in social thinking and the
popularity of healthy lifestyles and colour representation in 2016. Barbie has begun to represent
women outside the thin, white, blonde archetype and represent women as a diverse set of
individuals, appealing to a wider range of consumes and the new trend in pop culture. Barbie has
reinforced pop culture over time as she has managed to change in response to the opinions of
society, whether or not she agreed with the change.
In conclusion, Barbie s changing fashions, interests and views have altered in response to suit pop
culture throughout the years. Barbie is a physical personification of popular culture throughout the
years, and she has grown to fit the world around her, to change with the fads and fashions of the
time. However in some cases it seems as though she has transgressed us on some levels. Barbie is
a palpable representation of the amount of change that has taken place over the decades, a change
in social thinking, social constructs, fashion and beauty. The Barbie doll is the perfect
representation of popular

Implicit Gender Bias Essay
Implicit Gender Bias and Women in STEM Fields
Most people consider themselves as rational, reasoning individuals who make decisions after
considering the facts at hand. Research suggests that this is often not the case, with implicit bias at
work shaping one s responses. Researchers at Cornell University have defined implicit bias as
unconscious, unintentional bias (Royer, Hido Slotnick, 2017). Predictors of implicit bias include
socio economic status, gender, ethnicity, childhood experience, and cultural experience (Cooley,
Payne Phillips, 2013). Unlike explicit bias which reflects attitudes or beliefs that one endorses on a
conscious level, implicit bias refers to attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions
and decisions in an unconscious manner resulting from subtle cognitive processes that often
operate at a level below conscious awareness and without intentional control (Gyan, n.d.). Of these,
implicit gender bias affects the health and social wellbeing of women, as well as disadvantages
women economically and in the workplace. As such implicit gender bias is endemic within the
scientific, technological, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, and this bias can
disadvantage women pursing these careers (Moss Racusin, Dovidio, Brescoll, Graham
Handelsman, 2012). The importance of further study of mitigating interventions of this implicit
gender bias is clear. Our hypothesis is that implicit gender bias related to women in STEM fields

Students are also given written directions for each worksheet. All students have ample time to
develop sketches and decide on a design that matches the student s levels of difficulty. Student may
use the Internet for reference images to assist with drawing. To help the students in the MD
program, they are given procedures to follow and directions are broken down into simple steps. I
have the students complete each step before moving onto the next step. The students not in the MD
program are given the written direction for the assignment and are allowed to proceed at their own
pace.
To ensure that all students succeed, constantly checking for understanding is important for knowing
that students understand the material. During work sessions, students are met with individually to
see their progress. I keep mental notes of the students who may be struggling, and put in effort to
meet with them more often. To check for understanding, I ask open ened questions that require the
students to recall and repeat the information learned. The worksheets allow students to demonstrate
their knowledge and feedback is written on each student s worksheet. Feedback is both positive and
constructive, so that students know what they did correctly, and what they can improve on.

Research on the Communicative Skills of Dogs
We all learn from one another and wolves, like dogs, can learn from us as well. Dogs are more
skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals
like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to
determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of
domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf
ancestors (Bates 2013).
The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many
different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves
watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural
transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a
den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders.
Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one
occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food,
fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial
selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. The objective of these studies was to
answer the question whether their roots were present before dogs became man s best friend or
not? Friederike Range and ZsГіfia VirГЎnyi of the Messerli Research Institute at the University of

Southwest Savanna Environmental Analysis
The Southwest Savanna is characterized by the hilltops, rivers and valleys and steep wooded slopes
within the area. The average growing season in this part of southern Wisconsin is 153 days, making
it the fourth longest growing season of the different landscapes within the state (Wisconsin
Department of Natural Resources 2015). Of all the land in this section of Wisconsin, about 3.5%
belongs to state, county, or municipal governments; this includes the state parks, natural areas, and
wildlife areas. (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 2015). In the past, a majority of the
forests in the Southern Savanna burned frequently. These forests depended on the fires to help
maintain the area and return nutrients to the soil. In the mid 1800s,... Show more content on

Geologists have said that the deep granites are the roots of the mountains that were once here
more than two billion years ago (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The sandstones and
limestones, that the mound is composed of, was originally deposited on top of the granite as the
sea bottom of the sea that once covered a major part southern Wisconsin (Belmont Mound State
Park Geology). Since Belmond Mound is in the Driftless area, the erosion patterns that carved
southwestern Wisconsin are what created the mound. Over the 400 million year erosion cycle,
streams removed the sandstone limestone, and dolomite from the southern part of Wisconsin
(Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The remains of these minerals in this region exist only as
tiny remnants on the tops of the Blue, Platte, Belmont and Sinsinawa mounds. If these mounds
were not capped by the Niagara dolomite in the area, they would have been cut down to the level
of the lands surrounding them (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The Belmont Mound is an
example of the southern mesic and dry mesic forests in Wisconsin. The east central part of the
woods is more mesic with sugar maple being the dominant species while larger red oak, basswood,
and white ash dominate the remainder, with some black walnut mixed in (Belmont Mound Woods
No. 167). The areas of the mound that were the focus of the study were the Southern (day one) and

Magic If Play Analysis
For our directorial focus we decided was the betrayal of family and creating a new dream fits
with our chosen scene as the two young characters in this scene who are portraying this directorial
focus though their dialogue and actions. This led to the two characters in this scene disregarding
their previous dreams and their family to create their own dream to pursue. During the process of
creating this performance, we also learnt about the importance of the Stanislavski method and how
it can ameliorate the performer s actions and dialogue. Some of the Stanislavski techniques that I
have personally used to enhance my character and to fully believe in my performance is the Magic

One of these conventions included the convention of props. In a particular part of the scene.
Johnnie picks up a kewpie doll and messes around with it like an illegitimate souvenir. From this
particular part from this scene. Bubba s concern rises from Johnnie describing the dolls as well
as the summer dream as a joke or an unworthy dream. Another convention that was used was the
convention of realistic language. When the argument breaks out the two character cannot over
exaggerate their voices otherwise it ruins the purpose of realism theatre. Instead the voices had
to be slightly raised in dynamics and in pitch which will make it as realistic as possible. Also the
use of subtext in the scene gave the scene more meaning and it also addressed the concern for my
character as the subtext within the other character shows what he really means. Furthermore
conventions of realism that acknowledged the directorial focus for our scene included the
convention of believable character. To make the scene work under realism theatre, characters
need to be relatable and believable to the audience. Since our directorial focus is the betrayal of
family and creating a new dream the audience must relate to this focus as well as the characters.
Another convention of realism theatre is the convention of a Super Objective. This gives the
characters a deeper purpose to this scene. In my case, my Super Objective

The Humoral Theory Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
The humoral theory is one of the oldest theories of Medicine that proposed that our bodies are
made up of four different humours: black bile, blood, phlegm, and yellow bile. It was believed that
while in good health the humours were in a harmonious balance throughout the body but illness is
said to have disrupted that balance causing one or more humour to become disordered. It is also
said that the mind is effected by the equilibrium of the four temperamentsknown as melancholic,
sanguine, choleric, and phlegmatic and that they dispersed to make up certain characteristics or
personality traits. Critics have long described Shakespeare as using these humours and
temperaments as a way for the audience to understand the character, plot and other aspects of his
plays. In such plays as Romeo and Juliet where critics have described Romeo as being a melancholy
figure it is exceptionally brought about by using the four humours involved in the humoral theory
that is said to have first originated by Hippocrates and later elaborated on by Galen. The four
humours include Black Bile which is related to the melancholic temperament and said to be
associated with the element earth, the season of winter, the planet Saturn, the spleen, and cold and
dry qualities. The humour Blood is related to the sanguine temperament and associated with the
element air, the season spring, the planet Jupiter, the heart, and hot and moist qualities. While
Phlegm is associated with the temperament phlegmatic

changes in enthalpy and entropy of the reaction of zinc with copper sulfate using two methods:
electrochemistry and calorimetry. compare the enthalpy values obtained by the two methods.
BACKGROUND Thermodynamics is concerned with energy changes that occur in chemical and

Reflection Paper On Baton Rogue
You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.
John Bunyan. Last summer, I had the pleasure of doing just that. Baton Rogue in Louisiana was
city devastated by flooding but united by service. Our church wished to help, and as luck would
have it the St. Bernard Project organization would sponsor a volunteer group down to Baton
Rogue to help rebuild houses. I wished to be a part of the group, and I was permitted after our
youth director agreed to include the 9th graders as well. I was very excited and was ready to go.
My sister, Hailey, would be going with me sorta like my guide. Little did I know that this trip
would change my view of what it means to be an American and my ideas on volunteering
forever. Our bus was loaded in the parking lot of the church, and after saying goodbye to our
parents, I hopped on and settled down for a long ride. Twenty five hours is a very long time to
be on a bus granted we stopped for meals along the way. When we finally pulled into the hotel in
Baton Rogue, I wanted nothing more than to just get to our room and head to sleep. The real
fun would begin the next day when we would finally get to work. I was not really sure what to
expect the next morning. I knew I was going to work, but I didn t think of who I was working for
and how much it would mean to them. Rest assured, I would figure all that out over the course of
the week. Morning in Louisiana in the summer is not pleasant. The air is heavy

Empowerment in an Organization
Empowerment in an organization Empowerments is the process of enabling or authorizing an
individual to think, behave, take action, and control work and decision making in autonomous
ways. It is the state of feeling self empowered to take control of one s own destiny. In an
organization, empowerment is the redistribution of power and decision making responsibilities,
usually to employees, where such authority was previously a managementprerogative.
Empowerment is based on the recognition that employee abilities are frequently underused, and
that, given the chance, most employees can contribute more. Empowered workplaces are

appropriate (Osborn. J, 2009). Many of us feel uncomfortable considering taking on the role of a
counsellor. Some of us may be thinking, I am a manager, not a therapist. However, taking on the
role of counsellor is not the same as trying to become a therapist. Many of the skills required by
the counselling role are also the skills involved in providing effective feedback, being a good

The coaching role Providing goals that are specific and challenging are more likely to result in

you are expected to do and by when you are expected to have it, you can go about planning,
executing and achieving your goals most effectively. If appropriate, it is important to commit
specific rewards contingent on goal attainment (Bell, C and Bell, R 2003). Provide resources,

close contact to their loved one. These people are overwhelmed when the person is gone, since
they provide hope and joy. The phone call acts as a stress reliever, a way for the protagonist to

The Validity Of A Scientific Theory
The world is a complicated place that works in mysterious ways, but people, with their inquisitive
minds, refuse to let even the most confounding puzzles go unsolved. Science provides
explanations for aspect of the world with no tangible evidence. But more often than not, science
gets it wrong. One way to test the validity of a scientific theory is the use of the Hypothetico
Deductive Method. The results of such a method provide evidence of confirmation or
disconfirmation, though these results cannot always be trusted. The world is complicated, thus it
requires an equally complicated instrument of discovery. With such complexity, philosophical
problems in reasoning are bound to arise, but there is always a solution to such issues. The
Hypothetico Deductive Method, called H D from here on out, is a way of reasoning about
theoretical (dis)conformation where a person deduces an observational prediction from a
hypothesis. Said hypothesis is then tested to determine whether or not the theory is confirmed. The
basic H D model states Hпѓ O, if the hypothesis is true, then the prediction will be observed. This
basic model consists of basic confirming and basic disconfirming instances of experiments, which
state, respectively, O/H, the prediction is true and observed, therefore the hypothesis is confirmed,
and ~O/~H, the prediction is not true and not observed, therefore the hypothesis is disconfirmed.
For the swan theory, an experiment would be set up in which the experimenter

Child Trafficking Is A Universal Issue

Women and Children (2000), child trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring

and denies them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Cathy Paris once said, Truthfully,
human traffickingis just a polite way to say modern day slavery. That being said, no human is

was abolished centuries ago, it still lingers on secretly in many countries in the world.

According to the World Bank report Ghana has a population of approximately 25.90 million and
GDP of 47.93 billion dollars in 2013(Worldbank.org, 2014). That goes to say that there should be
enough resources to be able to implement full measures to invest in education and job creation so
as to alleviate poverty in the country. For most non Western countries, the reasons why most of
these important issues are overlooked is because of systemic corruption.
Corruption is the only logic answer that can explain the neglect of this phenomenon. Tragically,
the legislature of Ghana and in addition other African nations permits and supports these
misbehaviors. Degenerate practices are sought after for own self increase. Thus the reasons
explicable for the growth of Child trafficking in Ghana are neglect by the government, the fear of
the cost to be incurred by the government if child trafficking is to be tackled and finally the
absence of an effective the rule of law in Ghana. Corruption is ultimately the only logic reason
why all the factors mentioned above would thrive. Since the economy of Ghana is steadily

Freudian Perspectives of Shakespeare s Hamlet Essay
Freudian Perspectives of Hamlet
The term consciousness refers to one s awareness of internal and external stimuli. The unconscious
contains thoughts, memories, and desires that are well below the surface of awareness but that

centered around Hamlet s relationship with his mother, and the relationship of Hamlet and King

In doing so, one will come to the conclusion that Hamlet is driven by forces other than what is
obvious to the reader, as well as Hamlet himself. Given this example, one must denounce the
assumption that Hamlet is aware of the forces that motivate him, and understand that Hamlet s true
motivation is unconscious This unconscious force is the true reason behind Hamlet s mysterious
behavior. In naming this force, one must look beneath the surface of Hamlet s own level of
consciousness, and into what Hamlet himself is consciously unaware. The key to understanding
Hamlet lies in the realization of the unconscious energy that provokes him to action and inaction.
By channeling into Hamlet s unconscious, providing Freudian psychoanalytical perspectives,
Hamlet s true unconscious motivation will be uncovered, and the mystery of Hamlet will be

DESCRIPTION OF PLANNED PRODUCT The proposed product is to create a payroll system.
The system will allow the employer to add and delete employee profile as well as updating other
information. An employee record would contain the following details but is not limited to
employee name, date of birth, address, contact numbers, national insurance number, emergency
contact details, medical issues, working hours, hourly rate and exemption reasons (such as sick
leave, maternity leave, annual holiday). These details are confidential and some are sensitive
(e.g. known disability). Therefore the employee record must be protected according to legal
legislations such as Data Protection Act (1998) and Disability Discrimination Act (1995) The
payroll system will be developed on Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL server. Visual studio is
chosen as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) contains various programming
languages incorporated to it. By developing the system in Windows forms application, the user
will be able to interact with graphical user interface which is more comfortable and easier for

Amnesia and Natural Memory Loss
Amnesia What is it?
Amnesia and natural memory loss is two different things, natural memory loss can start at the age
of forty five but amnesia can happen at any age. There are five different types of main Amnesia
that can cause different type of memory loss.
Anterograde Amnesia
Retrograde Amnesia
Dissociative Amnesia
Infantile Amnesia
Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) (Theguardian), (medindia), (Curiosity)
Anterograde Amnesia
This type of Amnesia a person has brain trauma that has affected the hippocampus, the fornix which
is located inside and continuing on the outside of both sides of the hippocampus or the mammillary
bodies which are connected by a nerve path to the fornix. It can also temporarily be drug induced,
by alcohol intoxication, brain surgery, heart attack, concussion, shock and even an emotional
disorder. This type of Amnesia affects the patient by not being able to store memories caused after
the Amnesia for more than a few minutes. For example the patient is unable to remember the name
of a person that he or she encountered 5 minutes ago. (healthline), (medindia), (wisegeek), (Human)
Retrograde Amnesia

Management Principles Of Public And Nonprofit Organizations
This semester we had the opportunity to explore management principles in public and nonprofit
organizations. We learned a range of concepts, theories, models and techniques related to
organizational and management theory, supervision, communication, ethics, and a multitude of
perspectives within organizations and society. The concepts that were stressed by Lee G. Bolman
Terrence E. Deal (2013) in Reframing Organization was the structural, human resource, political and
symbolic aspects of organizational behavior. (Bolman Deal 2013). Exploring these organizational
structures have made me evaluate my own organization and I want to present in my paper some of
the concepts that we learned this semester and relate them to my experiences I... Show more content

supervising staff while taking instruction from the strategic apex. The technostructure is responsible

Huckleberry Finn Analysis
All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn.
(Hemingway). In the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, the novel is all
about creating something new from rejecting the old and having some hatred and violence.
Moreover In America, there are a lot of people who are seeking for a change and when they
achieve it there is a great amount of hatred and jealousy created against them because of that
change, and then people lead to violence.
American literature always tends to create something new, they have violence in it and the The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is the best example of it. In the article Main Characteristics Of
American Literature by Luka Malgaj states that, Rejected the old in order to create something new
(Malgaj).
New writers often tend to reject the old type of literature and change it to create a new type of
literature, this is what Twain wanted and he did so. He used the dialogues in his novel in the exact
same pronunciation to show realism. He wanted his audience to feel the same as him while writing
the novel. He is setting a scene for everyone to feel the situation so we get more interested in it.
Rejected the old in order to create something new
As we know that American literature is vast and has a lot of examples of the great passion of
writing and showing their best examples of their own perspective upon America and the whole
world. Twain also wanted to make a change in the

Emotional Intelligence And Human Resource Management
In the past years, many people have written about emotional intelligence role in the workplace.
Experts belong to emotional intelligence (EI) field provides many models and definitions to
understand the concept and meaning of emotional intelligence and its effects on individual s
(Employees, managers, supervisors) performance. As the world is becoming organizational world
and as the time passes change is occurring in almost every field. Thus Organizations (public and
private sector) have to manage change effectively to prevent the performance of workers from any
harm. For this purpose Emotional Intelligenceplays a very important and significant role in helping
the individuals to cope with this dynamic change in the workplace.
As mentioned by Naseer, Chisti, Aahman and Jumani (2011), Emotional Intelligence (EI) concept
was first introduced by Mayer and Salovay. Then it was further popularized by Golman, when he
raise a question that Why EI can matter more than IQ? Since then, this area become more attractive
in many fields like leading, OB organizational behaviour and HRM Human Resource Management.
(Naseer, Chishti, Rahman, Jumani, 2011).
According to John Mayer and Peter Salovey Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify and
understand accurately one s own and other s emotional reactions. It also includes the ability to
handle one s emotions so that good decisions can be made and individuals can act effectively .

Catastrophism And Uniformitarianism In Dating Earth
There can be many different views when we define the words of catastrophism and
uniformitarianism. They can be seen in many diverse ways from person to person. In the article
Dating Earth, it mentioned the background of the concept of uniformitarianism and catastrophism.
People who had biblical views were considered catastrophists and were known scientists who
invoked supernatural causes. Uniformitarianism is a concept that is viewed as gradual constant
change, or no change at all. This view can be debatable with catastrophismwhich is sudden or
immediate change because a small change over time that seems so constant can feel sudden at the
same time. It depends how you view it and see the picture in our histories time lapse. When we
define constant we view it as a nice even flow, but sometimes the flow can be higher at times and
lower which can equal to the even gradual concept of uniformitarianism while it can be viewed as a
catastrophic event too because if we think about the butterfly effect that small sudden change can
be so unique and make big changes even though it seemed small and equal like uniformitarianism.
The Butterfly Effect mentioned how Lorenz made a small change to his systems of equations
which proved to be catastrophic even though the numbers seemed very small to even make a
difference. When we view uniformitarianism and catastrophism they can both be true in context, but
if you view it in a diverse way to include the small changes uniformitarianism can

Computer, Robotics, And Automation Are Driving More And...
Computers, robotics, and automation are driving more and more of production. In turn this is
leading to an enormous impact on the number and type of jobs. An Australian report released in
June 2015 found that 40 per cent of the Australian workforce or around 5 million jobs are at high
risk of being replaced by computers in the next 10 15 years. This backs up the Oxford Martin
School s 2013 study finding 47 per cent of jobs in the United States are at risk of being automated
using artificial intelligence. We need to move urgently from a discussion about protecting the jobs
of today, to creating the jobs of the future.1 3.2 Commercialisation and innovation There are
significant emerging opportunities and challenges for commercialisation and innovation resulting
from technological changes to becoming a more sustainable, broad based economy: Reducing the
tyranny of distance, boosting trade and creating new business models but also promoting
outsourcing of work overseas. Internationalising labour markets are expanding the skilled labour
pool. Developing commercially functional goods and services from new technologies often takes a
lot longer than expected. Leveraging clean technologies to improve sustainability. Fostering
entrepreneurship and addressing constraints for Kiwi companies. Addressing slow uptake of new

including the many alternatives or whether it was a morally acceptable choice. As this is a
pretty controversial topic, I feel the need to put an emphasis on the fact that the decision to bomb
Japan was made at a time of war. We are here, today, at peaceful times, looking upon a heavy

In determining the FMV of both classes of NYC medallions, we analyzed the various
methodologies for calculating the estimated value of the medallion and found the approach used in
this report, the income approach, to be the most concrete based on factual data to render this type of
assessment. As such, the analysis in this report is limited to, and only should be adopted
holistically with, the pertinent qualifying parameters.
After an extensive review of all applicable datasets and information, we conclude that the taxicab
medallion values for the period for January 2016 to April 2017, calculated using the discounted
cash flow methodology, were $550,000 and $1,108,000, respectively.
The subsequent sections of the report will: (1) provide an overview of the NYC taxi medallion
market and new market entrants impact on the taxi industry; (2) identify the best approach to
determine medallion valuation (3) analyze data gathered using discounted cash flow to assess
valuation of both classes of medallions.

Unforgiven, High Noon High noon, an American Western movie debuted in 1952. The movie

how the western side of United States was captured. The setting of the movie portrays a mixture

people use inhuman ways to achieve their goals while good people, especially those living in the

Body Image in the Media Essay
Body image today is so drastically exaggerated in importance that people, often adolescents, go

important issue these days. It makes people want to change everything about themselves, their

adolescents because of all the places they advertise. The adults are also people that I would blame

The internet is also making people believe differently about their bodies. It has things posted all
the time describing how a body should be, and with the millions of people who get on the
internet everyday seeing this causes them to believe think differently about their bodies. One
thing that these people who post blogs up don t tell you is that, the adolescents trying to act like
these stars end up getting pregnant or many other things. For instance, teenage girls these days try
to be like other girls on TV and this causes them to be sexually active, and with this occurring
nearly 1 in 4 girls ages 14 to 19 acquire a sexually transmitted disease, as Time Magazine describes

10 Things I Hate About You Chick Flick Analysis
A Chick Flick as broadly agreed upon is the kind of films that mostly appeal to a female audience.
Even the name itself is a bit offensive. It implies that films having female characters are
appealing just to women spectators, and films with men, as protagonists are more commonly
considered as widespread, while those who have bunches of ladies in them are so called Chick
Flicks , and in this way, a corner shallow kind. Most of the time these films convey the point that
ladies live happily ever after when they get the chance to discover intimate romance. Other Chick
Flicks introduce a solid female protagonist but, as the film advances the hero needs to change
herself of to adjust to her end goal to observe affection, to be recognized by her adoration intrigue,
or to fit into her partner s life. Most commonly the female protagonist is a stunningly beautiful
woman, who likewise happens to be blonde rather than a brunette, youthful, white and thin. Yet she
needs to have a blemish, which would make her more human and in this way, more relatable to lots
of people. 10 Things I Hate About Youis likely the most clear illustration. However she definitely
must be physically dazzling like all the female characters in the film, with a specific end goal to
keep the present magnificence ongoing.

Workaholics
INTRODUCTION
Why did I choose to write about workaholics? The main reason is that the general picture about
these people is bad, but there are a lot of them around us and very often we admire them. They are
doing exactly what they love В– work В– and they can never have enough of it. Although they
spend most of their time working, surprisingly they are happy. They show so good results in what
they do. But the consequences are great. Family life is disrupted, intellectual horizons narrow and
the consequences to the workaholic s health are severe: fat, lack of exercise and stress. Why do

When somebody has a day off because he is sick, a workaholic would say that he is magnifying
the problem just not to work. They show little interest and great intolerance for the personal
lives of the co workers. They might say, How s the family? but they will not pay attention to the
answer. They don t show any personal interest about their co workers except if it s something
related to their needs or demands. Marilyn Machlowitz in her Workaholics book tells us about
one case like this. The secretary after five years at work decided that she wants to change her
glasses, and use lens instead. When at work, her workaholic boss noticed that she doesn t have
the glasses and said How are you going to type for me without your glasses? . Workaholics work
according to their and only to their schedules, and get really neurotic when they can not work by
their schedule because of other people [usually because the others didn t do what they were
expected by the workaholic].
HOW DO WORKAHOLICS ACT HOME?
It s not easy to say how workaholics act home, as they don t spend much time in their homes. Often
they are just physically home, while they think of being at work. Lots of them have dictaphones to
record the ideas they come up with while they are at home and thinking about their jobs.

Comparing Plato, Descartes, And The Matrix
Plato, Descartes, and the Matrix
Latalvin Bullock
Liberty University
Is what I am seeing real or is it a figment of my imagination? Many people have found themselves
asking this question at some point in their life. This has been a subject that has been addressed by
many philosophers. In this paper the approach to this topic is centered on Plato s The Allegory of
the Cave and Descartes s Meditation I of The Things Which We May Doubt as compared to the
movie The Matrix. One of the most obvious similarities of the three passages is that they all call in
to question what reality is. In The Matrix reality is conceived through a computer. The computer
simulates the peoples perception of reality. They are not truly aware of their own reality because...

But through their connection and manipulation of the computer they believe that what they are
living and seeing is real. When Neo agrees to take the red pill and follow Morpheus into the
world of the Matrix it disturbs him to see that people are living out a virtual reality that is not
true reality. This calls into question his own reality and was the life he was living real or
imagined. Plato s Allegory of the Cave also shows a distorted sense of reality. The prisoners
believe that what they see through the shadows is reality. Being tied by the fetters there is no

Marketing and Mouse Trap
Company Case. Trap Ease America: The big cheese mousetraps
1) Martha and the Trap Ease America investors believe they face a once in a lifetime opportunity.
What information do they need to evaluate this opportunity? How do you think the group would
write its mission statement? How would you write it?
By saying they face a once in a lifetime opportunity I assume that they are talking about the
potential for profit and growth. However, from this case it doesn t seem that Martha, the president
of Trap Ease had done enough research into her market to realistically assess whether the demand
for her product would be there. First she would need to decide what customers want and need. Do
they want or need the safety and extra features that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Could it position the product in other ways?
It seems that the Trap Ease mouse trap has positioned itself in the market as being a very
innovative and well engineered product. It has done this by winning awards from trade shows and
magazines. If it is better able to connect these features of the mouse traps with the needs and wants
of their target consumers then they should be able to generate a larger demand. They could also try
to change it s position a little bit.
Trap Ease could also position the product as causing less waist because it is re useable or they
could lower it s cost and make it more affordable. By making it the most affordable, innovative
mouse trap on the market they could probably gain some more demand. Another way in which they
could position their product would be by having an incredibly good customer service team that
could deliver services to their customers that were having problems using the product. By having a
good customer service team they could build better relationships with their customers and increase
their customer equity
4.Describe the current marketing mix for Trap Ease. Do you see any problems with this mix?
The marketing mix of a company consists of the four P s: Product, Price, Place and Promotion.
Currently Trap Ease only has one product, their mouse trap. They probably could create a couple
different versions of their mouse trap in order to offer more variety. The higher price of their
mouse trap seems

Bethettes Monologue
I grew up dancing and tumbling at Judy Murtaugh dance studio. I was consistently surrounded
by bethettes at a young age. Growing up, my passion for dance grew, and so did my dream of
being a bethette. My dance teachers always encouraged me to tryout once I was old enough. My
first year of bethettes has been the best time of my life, although it was also one of the hardest.
During this past season, I lost my mother. Everything in my life seemed completely chaotic, except
for bethettes. Bethettes was the one thing I still had that made me genuinely happy and helped me
through this difficult time. The girls were so supportive and the squad leaders were so
inspirational. All of the squad leaders called me and came to the funeral. They constantly... Show

I grew extremely close to them. That is what leadership and support truly is. Not one person
completely understood what I was feeling, yet every single one of them reached out. I want to
do that for someone as well. Most likely it will not be the same circumstances but, being able to
lead and support a group of girls and help them in anyway possible is a new dream I have
obtained. If granted this amazing opportunity, there would be a few things I would like to
address and change for the better of bethettes. The first being talking. Just in my first year of
bethettes I have observed talking and side conversations being a great issue at practices. It is
difficult to get all the girls to be silent and cooperative while learning or running routines. As a
squad leader, I would take initiative to not only set the example for my squad, but remind them to

Seamus Heaney Digging
amp;#8220;Digging ; is about a person looking out of a window at their Father digging, describing
what he/she sees and then the poem goes on to describe what he/she feels.
I believe that the narrative voice in the poem is in fact that of Seamus Heaney. There are a number
of clues that lead me to this conclusion. The first and most obvious one is in the first line,
amp;#8216;Between my finger and my thumb. amp;#8217;
The poet writes in the first person throughout the poem. He writes about his Father and his
Grandfather and he seems to move from describing his Father to describing his Grandfather. He
does this so smoothly that the reader harldy notices the transition that took place. The second clue
is slightly more hidden. The poet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That line also paints an image in the readers mind of the spade sinking in and the scratching/rasping
sound it makes. An example of how the author does the same thing only with the sense touch is,
amp;#8216;The coarse boot nestled on the lug, the shaft Against the inside knee was levered
firmly. amp;#8217; In this case the second line emphasizes the first. It does this by using the words
levered and firmly they make the whole phrase seem more realistic.
However the best possible example of this is when the poet uses two senses to emphasize sight
amp;#8216;The cold smell of potatoe mould, the squelch and slap Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of
an edge. amp;#8217;
These two lines not only include two senses but one of the senses uses two onomatopoeic words;
squelch and slap. These two words suggest someone moving through thick soggy mud for some
reason it also suggests to me that it was on a cold day.
In my opinion that line is also quite interesting to read because it paints a clear picture in my
mind amp;#8217;s eye of someone toiling and sloshing around in the mud. I think this is because
the poet uses words like; soggy, curt, cuts and edge. Since those words are sharp words they make
the phrase clearer and sharper in my mind amp;#8217;s eye.
I think the poet amp;#8217;s attitute to work is that of a perfectionist. I get this impression
because of how picky he is about describing the way his Father and

My Experience At Eastern Connecticut State University
In my time at Eastern Connecticut State University, I learned a lot about myself and what I
have been doing as a student. In that time, I learned not only about myself, my academic
strength s and even learned to think critically and ask questions. Eastern has taught me to be
myself and this campus puts more emphasis on individuality over group thinking. I learned a lot
in applying my critical thinking skills to my history classes and learned a lot in how to look at
History in everyday context. What my experience at Eastern as taught me that, I never gave up
and I always persevere in many difficult challenges this campus has tossed at me. I always came
out on top and learned to deal with challenges that I will face later in Graduate school and in life.
In my History Research paper, I learned a lot in how to work a history presentation. It taught me
a lot about what I can do. It was a challenging History research paper and along the way, I learned
to overcome those challenges. I was challenged in many ways such as finding primary and
secondary sources. I was often times challenged in how I write a paper and many times it took
trial and error to get the paper right. My research paper was a challenge to me because it taught
me to write deeper than ever before. I was at times very frustrated with the work, but I learned to
over come them. I also learned that no one ever works alone in writing a history research paper.

The Trade Policies Around The World
The trade policies around the world are different depending on which country a person lives in.
There are many different regulations because there are so many different foreign policies. If a
person wants to be successful in doing business globally, then they would have to abide by the
country they are interested in doing business with, standards of how to do business. It would be
disrespectful to try to do business with another country and not know any of their customs or
beliefs, because what you are bringing to the table could be offensive to them which could leave
you empty handed if one does not operate right under the business standards of the foreign
company. Even though it behooves a business person to abide by another country s foreign trade
policy some of the other country s policies may be offensive to the investor. The best thing to
focus on when doing business with another country is to come to an equal understanding on point
of views, they may have to agree to disagree on some things but, the most important thing to
remember is to try to make money with other countries to extend your business to new heights.
When an investor set point of views to the side and focus on the matter at hand, and that is to
make money, then they will be more comfortable abiding by another county s way of doing
business. The trade policy I am going to write about is the trade policy in China. Present day

Introduction As the United States strive to become a global leader in education, developing school
teachers and leaders must be the first step to achieve this goal. All the work that educational leaders

Making sure that every teacher has the ability, skill, motivation , and desire to do the job is
considered essential. When implementing a plan or transforming a culture an educational leader
must have full executive support, an effective communication plan, full employee involvement,
thorough organizational planning and completive analysis, and a widespread perceived need for the
strategic planning. Effective leadership also comes with great collaboration in an organization
internal and external. Leadership must constantly involve staff in collaboration. Early in a new
program s life a centralized focus must provide the leader a number of benefits: management of
external stakeholders, management of informational needs, funding of the program, and
management support. Providing teachers and administrative teams to collaborate on on going and
future issues will help empower and motivate to take ownership in the organization. In an
educational environment school leaders must collaborate with staff through PLC s which are team
meetings, faculty and staff meetings, school improvement committees, teacher appraisals periods
(PDAS), and even casual conversation. Lewis and Pattersson (2009) suggest that good governance
promotes excellent service in education which include an organization with appropriate standards,
good incentives, information, and accountability which foster high performance from public

What Is The Similarities Between The Scarface And The...
I. Introduction
Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most violent and
profanes films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony Montana (Al Pacino) on
the criminal ladder and becoming more psychotic as his career as the leader of his drug empire
progresses, leading to his eventual downfall. Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone
and with performance of the cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the
masses.
The Godfather is a mob film focuses on the Corleone Family, with its head Vito Corleone(Marlon
Brando) trying to find a suitable heir to his empire, while war is breathing down the neck of other
crime families. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) then steps in to organize the family back to shape.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based from the novel of the same name written by Mario
Puzo. It received critical acclaim by critics and was cited as an influence by real life mobsters due
to its rather realistic portrayal of gangster life and Cosa Nostra.
Even with the similarities of theme, both movies have a parallel between how it portrays itself, and
it further widens the gap due to its difference of timelines.

the same time. Tony Montana is an immigrant that has nowhere else to go, he then goes to a life of
crime, got rich, and then goes down. It is a common misconception that the movie glorifies
violence. The conceptions are wrong; the movie portrays violent scenes as a major turning point for
characters, both tragic and bittersweet. Like the tagline of the movie. Tony loved The American

Important message from the author
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for purchasing my textbook and for the encouraging words that many of you have
passed on from around the world.
In the final installment, I have put together answers/solutions to all 217 case studies. I hope you
will find these solutions as a useful starting point. As with all B M mark schemes, the solutions in
this Answer
Book should be used with caution and flexibility. Students who take an alternative approach to the
suggested solutions should still be credited where appropriate; teachers should use their
professional judgment in such cases.

Definition of conflict should be given. The possible solutions will depend on the cause(s) of
conflict within the department. For instance:
Poor communication channels lead to misunderstandings; look into improving communications
within the department, e.g. regular team briefings.
Lack of promotional opportunities; perhaps investigate the possibility of delegating responsibility
to allow subordinates to gain valuable experiences.
Given the culture, the new HOD might be expected to be more democratic in his/her approach to
conflict management, e.g. perhaps by using forms of empowerment.
Conflict may also arise if the Principal uses external recruitment to appoint the new HOD.
Any conflict between subordinates will most likely to be dealt with by the HOD, i.e. conflict is
resolved within the department.
The new HOD will therefore need to have good interpersonal and communications skills. S/he may
also need to develop situational management styles with clear goals and objectives for the
Department.
[5 6 marks]
There is a thorough examination of the various ways in which different sources of conflict can be
handled by the Head of Department. Appropriate terms are used with good application.

†The decentralisation of retailing and other services has...
In the 1950s and 1960s shops selling high order goods, like furniture and jewellery, were in the
town and city centres, which attracted customers from a wide catchment area. Shops selling low
order goods, like food, were located in the local neighbourhoods. However, this traditional shopping
pattern began to change in the 1970s, when shops like supermarkets and DIY stores began to move
to the outskirts of towns by decentralisation. Although it is obvious that the decentralisation of
retailing and other services has had a major impact on urban areas, the impacts have been negative,
positive or neutral.
There are a number of reasons for the growth in out of town retailing. Firstly, increased car
ownership has meant that many more people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Bluewater in Kent is built in a former quarry. This redevelopment of brownfield sites
can often help to regenerate an area. In city centres, positive impacts include local councils and the
government investing money into improving the city centre, in order to attract customers back.
Some of these improvements may include creating new pedestrian zones, renovating older
shopping malls and organising events. Also, pollution and congestion may decrease as fewer
people drive to the city centre to shop. These positive impacts may lead people to believe that the
decentralisation of retailing and other services has had a major positive impact on urban areas.
The Trafford Centre opened in 1998. It was built on a brownfield site in the industrial area of
Trafford Park, 5 miles west of Manchester. The site covers 150 acres and cost ВЈ600,000 to
complete. The Trafford Centre has the largest catchment area of any shopping centre in the UK,
with over 5.3 million people living within a 45 minute drive. The Centre is popular for a number
of reasons. Firstly, the Trafford Centre has over 200 shops, a 1600 seat food court, a 20 screen
cinema, crazy golf and ten pin bowling. In addition to this, it is well connected by road, being
very close to the M60 for customers coming from outside of Manchester, and the M602 into the
city centre. There are also many buses that go direct from Manchester to the Trafford Centre.

How Does Oxytocin Impact On Behavior
Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted directly into the blood from the Endocrine
glands, which carries them to organs and tissues of the body to exert their functions. There are
many types of hormones that act on different aspects of bodily functions and processes. Oxytocin,
sometimes referred to as the love hormone, has been associated with several types of social
behavior. It acts as both a hormone and neurotransmitter in the brain, and it is thought to have co
evolved with vasopressin. In women, oxytocin is released in huge amounts during labor also
known as facilitating birth and breastfeeding. However, this hormone has been secreted in various
behaviors in both genders. The question I m here to answer is specifically oxytocin s impact on

In a study done by the National Institute of Mental Health, when scientists pumped female prairie
voles with oxytocin, the animals basically just sticked themselves to their new mating partners.
These female voles also were more likely to lick and cuddle more than uninjected voles. Decisively,
after being injected with oxytocin antagonists, the females left their partners. Some scientists have
hypothesized Vasopressin has the same effect in males, and according to them it s possible this
turned a few men into jealous husbands and boyfriends. However, I personally believe these
bonding and attachment traits, nevertheless, are most likely what caused oxytocin to be evident
throughout mammalian evolution. Trust also seems like an additional unique mammalian
characteristic that s been correlated with oxytocin. In a 1995 experiment done by scientist Berg, a
risky investment game was paired up with a Oxytocin nasal spray. Players were sprayed with the

  • 2. William I Bastard Essay William I of England was a bastard; an utter, utter, utter bastard. And he was illegitimate. Willy spent his life in pursuit of money and power and ruthlessly attacked anyone who dared stand between him and either. He caused the deaths of tens of thousands of men, women and children. There isn t much nice to say about him. Some do say he was faithful to his wife. That s about it. As far as we know he never played up. He often spent months away from his little woman but he resisted the temptation of the flesh, and his suit of armour housed a pure and chaste Willy. Wow! They should have made him a fucking saint, or perhaps more correctly, a non fucking saint. William was a bastard but little Willy was a fucking angel. So what made William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He looked for a new fight. The King of England died. Edward the Confessor was even more guarded of his willy than William. He died childless, reputedly so chaste he was still a virgin at the age of sixty plus. His wife, not wanting to be thought barren, loudly attested to his chastity. Unlike William, Edward attained sainthood the ultimate non fucking saint. That s not to say Edward was a saint. As greedy as any other king, he took bribes, and once had a rebellious Welsh prince killed, and the head delivered to him. That s not very fucking saintly. But not many saints were saintly. They were more about promoting the Roman Catholic Church as the greatest show on Earth. Saints provided local appeal in areas the Pope never visited, and let s face it, popes didn t get out of Rome much in those days. This was believed to be true for a long time because it is recorded on the Bayeux Tapestry, for a long time the main source of information on the history of the times, but the that embroidery was commissioned by a relative of William s and contains a lot of propaganda to justify the Norman rule of England. • 3. Evolution Of Barbie s Embodiment Of Pop Culture The evolution of Barbie has been an interesting one. The doll has sparked countless debates, yet has continued to be a defining icon for children for countless years, and will probably be so for many more. Her changing fashion, careers and views could be easily attributed to the changing views in our society and current fashions that have transfixed the world over time. Barbie is a tangible embodiment of pop culturethroughout the years, she has managed to become popular and stay popular, because she has done what many toys could not, she has grown to fit the world around her, and by doing so has captivated generations. Barbie s changing fashions overtime have reinforced popular culture as she has resembled what is trendy and in at time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first of many changes being the introduction of the first official African American Barbie and Latina Barbie, both of which were not released until 1980, twenty years after the first Barbie was released. This year the newly released 2016 Barbie Fashionistas are available in four body types, seven skin tones and 22 eye colours addressing long time criticism that the dolls did not accurately reflect the modern woman. This change means more representation for women of colour, more representation of a normal female body type, teaching young girls that white is not default and anorexia is not beautiful. This links back to the much needed change in social thinking and the popularity of healthy lifestyles and colour representation in 2016. Barbie has begun to represent women outside the thin, white, blonde archetype and represent women as a diverse set of individuals, appealing to a wider range of consumes and the new trend in pop culture. Barbie has reinforced pop culture over time as she has managed to change in response to the opinions of society, whether or not she agreed with the change. In conclusion, Barbie s changing fashions, interests and views have altered in response to suit pop culture throughout the years. Barbie is a physical personification of popular culture throughout the years, and she has grown to fit the world around her, to change with the fads and fashions of the time. However in some cases it seems as though she has transgressed us on some levels. Barbie is a palpable representation of the amount of change that has taken place over the decades, a change in social thinking, social constructs, fashion and beauty. The Barbie doll is the perfect representation of popular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Implicit Gender Bias Essay Implicit Gender Bias and Women in STEM Fields Most people consider themselves as rational, reasoning individuals who make decisions after considering the facts at hand. Research suggests that this is often not the case, with implicit bias at work shaping one s responses. Researchers at Cornell University have defined implicit bias as unconscious, unintentional bias (Royer, Hido Slotnick, 2017). Predictors of implicit bias include socio economic status, gender, ethnicity, childhood experience, and cultural experience (Cooley, Payne Phillips, 2013). Unlike explicit bias which reflects attitudes or beliefs that one endorses on a conscious level, implicit bias refers to attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions and decisions in an unconscious manner resulting from subtle cognitive processes that often operate at a level below conscious awareness and without intentional control (Gyan, n.d.). Of these, implicit gender bias affects the health and social wellbeing of women, as well as disadvantages women economically and in the workplace. As such implicit gender bias is endemic within the scientific, technological, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, and this bias can disadvantage women pursing these careers (Moss Racusin, Dovidio, Brescoll, Graham Handelsman, 2012). The importance of further study of mitigating interventions of this implicit gender bias is clear. Our hypothesis is that implicit gender bias related to women in STEM fields will ... • 6. Research on the Communicative Skills of Dogs We all learn from one another and wolves, like dogs, can learn from us as well. Dogs are more skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf ancestors (Bates 2013). The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders. Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food, fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. The objective of these studies was to answer the question whether their roots were present before dogs became man s best friend or not? The average growing season in this part of southern Wisconsin is 153 days, making it the fourth longest growing season of the different landscapes within the state (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 2015). Of all the land in this section of Wisconsin, about 3.5% belongs to state, county, or municipal governments; this includes the state parks, natural areas, and wildlife areas. Geologists have said that the deep granites are the roots of the mountains that were once here more than two billion years ago (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The sandstones and limestones, that the mound is composed of, was originally deposited on top of the granite as the sea bottom of the sea that once covered a major part southern Wisconsin (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). Since Belmond Mound is in the Driftless area, the erosion patterns that carved southwestern Wisconsin are what created the mound. Over the 400 million year erosion cycle, streams removed the sandstone limestone, and dolomite from the southern part of Wisconsin (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The remains of these minerals in this region exist only as tiny remnants on the tops of the Blue, Platte, Belmont and Sinsinawa mounds. If these mounds were not capped by the Niagara dolomite in the area, they would have been cut down to the level of the lands surrounding them (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The Belmont Mound is an example of the southern mesic and dry mesic forests in Wisconsin. The east central part of the woods is more mesic with sugar maple being the dominant species while larger red oak, basswood, and white ash dominate the remainder, with some black walnut mixed in (Belmont Mound Woods No. 167). Magic If Play Analysis For our directorial focus we decided was the betrayal of family and creating a new dream fits with our chosen scene as the two young characters in this scene who are portraying this directorial focus though their dialogue and actions. This led to the two characters in this scene disregarding their previous dreams and their family to create their own dream to pursue. During the process of creating this performance, we also learnt about the importance of the Stanislavski method and how it can ameliorate the performer s actions and dialogue. Some of the Stanislavski techniques that I have personally used to enhance my character and to fully believe in my performance is the Magic If technique. Johnnie picks up a kewpie doll and messes around with it like an illegitimate souvenir. From this particular part from this scene. Bubba s concern rises from Johnnie describing the dolls as well as the summer dream as a joke or an unworthy dream. Another convention that was used was the convention of realistic language. When the argument breaks out the two character cannot over exaggerate their voices otherwise it ruins the purpose of realism theatre. Instead the voices had to be slightly raised in dynamics and in pitch which will make it as realistic as possible. Also the use of subtext in the scene gave the scene more meaning and it also addressed the concern for my character as the subtext within the other character shows what he really means. Furthermore conventions of realism that acknowledged the directorial focus for our scene included the convention of believable character. To make the scene work under realism theatre, characters need to be relatable and believable to the audience. Since our directorial focus is the betrayal of family and creating a new dream the audience must relate to this focus as well as the characters. Another convention of realism theatre is the convention of a Super Objective. This gives the characters a deeper purpose to this scene. In my case, my Super Objective ... • 10. The Humoral Theory Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet The humoral theory is one of the oldest theories of Medicine that proposed that our bodies are made up of four different humours: black bile, blood, phlegm, and yellow bile. It was believed that while in good health the humours were in a harmonious balance throughout the body but illness is said to have disrupted that balance causing one or more humour to become disordered. It is also said that the mind is effected by the equilibrium of the four temperamentsknown as melancholic, sanguine, choleric, and phlegmatic and that they dispersed to make up certain characteristics or personality traits. Critics have long described Shakespeare as using these humours and temperaments as a way for the audience to understand the character, plot and other aspects of his plays. In such plays as Romeo and Juliet where critics have described Romeo as being a melancholy figure it is exceptionally brought about by using the four humours involved in the humoral theory that is said to have first originated by Hippocrates and later elaborated on by Galen. The four humours include Black Bile which is related to the melancholic temperament and said to be associated with the element earth, the season of winter, the planet Saturn, the spleen, and cold and dry qualities. The humour Blood is related to the sanguine temperament and associated with the element air, the season spring, the planet Jupiter, the heart, and hot and moist qualities. Baton Rogue in Louisiana was city devastated by flooding but united by service. Our church wished to help, and as luck would have it the St. Bernard Project organization would sponsor a volunteer group down to Baton Rogue to help rebuild houses. I wished to be a part of the group, and I was permitted after our youth director agreed to include the 9th graders as well. I was very excited and was ready to go. My sister, Hailey, would be going with me sorta like my guide. Little did I know that this trip would change my view of what it means to be an American and my ideas on volunteering forever. Our bus was loaded in the parking lot of the church, and after saying goodbye to our parents, I hopped on and settled down for a long ride. Twenty five hours is a very long time to be on a bus granted we stopped for meals along the way. When we finally pulled into the hotel in Baton Rogue, I wanted nothing more than to just get to our room and head to sleep. The real fun would begin the next day when we would finally get to work. I was not really sure what to expect the next morning. I knew I was going to work, but I didn t think of who I was working for and how much it would mean to them. Rest assured, I would figure all that out over the course of the week. Morning in Louisiana in the summer is not pleasant. The air is heavy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Validity Of A Scientific Theory The world is a complicated place that works in mysterious ways, but people, with their inquisitive minds, refuse to let even the most confounding puzzles go unsolved. Science provides explanations for aspect of the world with no tangible evidence. But more often than not, science gets it wrong. One way to test the validity of a scientific theory is the use of the Hypothetico Deductive Method. The results of such a method provide evidence of confirmation or disconfirmation, though these results cannot always be trusted. The world is complicated, thus it requires an equally complicated instrument of discovery. With such complexity, philosophical problems in reasoning are bound to arise, but there is always a solution to such issues. The Hypothetico Deductive Method, called H D from here on out, is a way of reasoning about theoretical (dis)conformation where a person deduces an observational prediction from a hypothesis. Said hypothesis is then tested to determine whether or not the theory is confirmed. The basic H D model states Hпѓ O, if the hypothesis is true, then the prediction will be observed. This basic model consists of basic confirming and basic disconfirming instances of experiments, which state, respectively, O/H, the prediction is true and observed, therefore the hypothesis is confirmed, and ~O/~H, the prediction is not true and not observed, therefore the hypothesis is disconfirmed. They can be seen in many diverse ways from person to person. In the article Dating Earth, it mentioned the background of the concept of uniformitarianism and catastrophism. People who had biblical views were considered catastrophists and were known scientists who invoked supernatural causes. Uniformitarianism is a concept that is viewed as gradual constant change, or no change at all. This view can be debatable with catastrophismwhich is sudden or immediate change because a small change over time that seems so constant can feel sudden at the same time. It depends how you view it and see the picture in our histories time lapse. When we define constant we view it as a nice even flow, but sometimes the flow can be higher at times and lower which can equal to the even gradual concept of uniformitarianism while it can be viewed as a catastrophic event too because if we think about the butterfly effect that small sudden change can be so unique and make big changes even though it seemed small and equal like uniformitarianism. The Butterfly Effect mentioned how Lorenz made a small change to his systems of equations which proved to be catastrophic even though the numbers seemed very small to even make a difference. Beautiful view, I remarked as my mom walked down the open riser staircase. The tall towers that were scattered across Manhattan stood right in front of my window. I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one out of all the apartments we looked at. Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring apple under the running faucet on the island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple. She asked, Ready for school? The media is what I believe makes body image such an important issue these days. It makes people want to change everything about themselves, their look, their choices, and their personality. The media are the ones also bringing this on to adolescents because of all the places they advertise. One thing that these people who post blogs up don t tell you is that, the adolescents trying to act like these stars end up getting pregnant or many other things. For instance, teenage girls these days try to be like other girls on TV and this causes them to be sexually active, and with this occurring nearly 1 in 4 girls ages 14 to 19 acquire a sexually transmitted disease, as Time Magazine describes it. Even the name itself is a bit offensive. It implies that films having female characters are appealing just to women spectators, and films with men, as protagonists are more commonly considered as widespread, while those who have bunches of ladies in them are so called Chick Flicks , and in this way, a corner shallow kind. Most of the time these films convey the point that ladies live happily ever after when they get the chance to discover intimate romance. Other Chick Flicks introduce a solid female protagonist but, as the film advances the hero needs to change herself of to adjust to her end goal to observe affection, to be recognized by her adoration intrigue, or to fit into her partner s life. The main reason is that the general picture about these people is bad, but there are a lot of them around us and very often we admire them. Family life is disrupted, intellectual horizons narrow and the consequences to the workaholic s health are severe: fat, lack of exercise and stress. Why do people become workaholics? Many people have found themselves asking this question at some point in their life. This has been a subject that has been addressed by many philosophers. In this paper the approach to this topic is centered on Plato s The Allegory of the Cave and Descartes s Meditation I of The Things Which We May Doubt as compared to the movie The Matrix. This calls into question his own reality and was the life he was living real or imagined. Plato s Allegory of the Cave also shows a distorted sense of reality. The prisoners believe that what they see through the shadows is reality. Being tied by the fetters there is no way for them to see any other reality around them. I believe that the narrative voice in the poem is in fact that of Seamus Heaney. There are a number of clues that lead me to this conclusion. The first and most obvious one is in the first line, amp;#8216;Between my finger and my thumb. amp;#8217; The poet writes in the first person throughout the poem. He writes about his Father and his Grandfather and he seems to move from describing his Father to describing his Grandfather. It does this by using the words levered and firmly they make the whole phrase seem more realistic. However the best possible example of this is when the poet uses two senses to emphasize sight amp;#8216;The cold smell of potatoe mould, the squelch and slap Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of an edge. amp;#8217; These two lines not only include two senses but one of the senses uses two onomatopoeic words; squelch and slap. In my opinion that line is also quite interesting to read because it paints a clear picture in my mind amp;#8217;s eye of someone toiling and sloshing around in the mud. I think this is because the poet uses words like; soggy, curt, cuts and edge. Since those words are sharp words they make the phrase clearer and sharper in my mind amp;#8217;s eye.
