Critical Reflection At the beginning of the module my understanding of what adaptation meant was

This semester in The Human Event, we read multiple diverse texts and we discussed and worked with
them in ways that I have not experienced in High School. Instead of discussing the texts based on
random details that we find in the text, we discussed what the text meant to the overall story, or better
yet, what the evidence said about the culture of the story and human nature. I learned a great deal
about the diverse meanings of human life, and I learned about various cultures and pieces of their
history. Additionally, we wrote papers based on textual evidence to argue points in a way on a higher
level than I was used to. My argumentative ability evolved from using plot summary into deeply
analyzing parts of the text to prove a point. From developing concrete skills to the cultural content I
was exposed to, I have grown from this semester in The Human Event.
When I started the semester in The Human Event, I had little ability of supporting my position
effectively. When I wrote my first paper in The Human Event, I defaulted to the standard of argument
that was present in high school: I summarized the plot of the text. Even to the foundation of my
roadmap, I attempted to follow a chronological order to Gilgamesh, as I specifically stated that I have

Chapter 5 The Engine of Evolution In this chapter of the selected text for the course they talk of the
three things involved in adaptation. First and foremost, there has to be variation in the population,
second, the variation has to come from genes changes, and the third is that the genetic variation must
affect the probability of offspring. Evolution by selection is a combination of randomness and
lawfulness. (Coyne 118). I also learned that the only difference between natural selection and artificial
selection is that on one hand the changes occurring are being made to happen by a breeder (artificial)
whereas the other is random selection due to environmental and survival changes

What Is The Theme Of Salaam Brick Lane
I have studied a novel excerpt called Salam Brick Lane by Tarquin Hall (1969). The excerpt is mainly
about a young man called Tarquin Hall, who wanted to return to his native London. He used to live in
south west London, but when he moved in to Salaam Brick Lane were things not as he remembered.
The street was a noisy filthy street where prostitutes and drug dealer was visible at the pavements. The
next line is from the text and is about the taxi driver warning Hall about the immigrants on the street.

Both of them also show the prejudice against immigrants. Neither the film or novel tell every side of
the story, because British have actually a long tradition of tolerance and openness of differences.
Today the social conditions are much better between immigrants and natives. Most Britons think that
multiculturalism has made important contributes to the society, and brought valuable new impulses to
the country. Also in This is England gave me the impression that many teenagers allowed themselves
to drink too much alcohol, do drugs and convict crimes. After reading the text how bad are British
youth I found out that the situation today has changed. Teenage drug use has actually dropped a
