1. 90% of children in India don’t go for College Degree.
College is a place which explores the talent of a student in every aspect.
College is a place which recognises our best and gives it a chance.
Collaging is responsible for future of any student.
We are at 7th place in terms of area and at 2nd in terms of population.
Having 3rd largest education system in world, we are still lagging. In
India, today 4% children never start school, while 58% are unable to
complete their primary schooling, and 90% children did not complete their
schooling. Only 10% of our children go on to college is both a matter of
sadness and anger for any responsible Indian.
When I discussed this with my friends, nobody could believe it. We are
aiming to be a superpower till 2025, but the basic thing still could not be
acheived. Education is basic thing which help to develop a nation, to
transform a nation in something big. It is right of every children to go
for higher education. And it is our job to make this dream in reality.
Progress since IndependenceThe growth of higher education in India has been very good after
independence. In 1950-51, the enrolment ratio of higher education was 0.7%
which have been increased to more than 20% in 2012. In 1950-51, there were
only 750 colleges and 30 universities. but now, as of 2011, there are42 Central Universities
275 State Universities
130 Deemed Universities
90 Private Universities
33 National importance institutes.
33000 govt. and pvt. colleges.
Indian higher education system has expended at a fast pace by adding almost
20000 colleges and more than 8 million students in last decade, 2000-01 to
2010-11.
RUSARashtriya Uchttar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a centrally
sponsored scheme to
increase enrolment in higher education in India. It concerns
with LOW ENROLLMENT RATIO in higher education in India.
It aims to increase the enrolment ratio in higher education
to 30% by 2020.
2. RUSA aims to increase enrolment ratio higher education in India* By creating extra capacity in existing institution.
* By setting up institutions in served & under served areas.
* By ensuring that there is a degree college in every district and
opening new universities.
* The govt. aims to setting up model degree colleges in 374
educationally backward districts of India.
IGNOUINDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY is a distance learning university,
established in 1985. IGNOU was a great effort by govt. of India to increase
higher education. IGNOU is largest university in the world having 3.5
million student globally.
DECDISTANCE EDUCATION COUNCIL is an organisation for promotion and
coordination of distance learning in India. It was established in 1985.
Introducing distance education in India was great thing. Open Universities
can be highly cost effective as the cost of teaching through
distance education comes down.
The road ahead for India is directly linked to creation of quality Higher
Education
Institutions in a big way to meet the challenge of the knowledge Hub, which
India is fast
becoming.
*There is still lot to be done as govt. resources are not enough. There is
not enough colleges and not enough seats in colleges.
*Govt. should make rules flexible so that foreign universities can set up
their campuses in India.
*The issue of raising the fees upwards to meet the cost of education is
critical if
we are to maintain and sustain the quality of our government and aided
institutions as private institutions are already using a higher fee
structure. In a
competitive setting there is no reason why the fees should not meet a
reasonable
proportion of the cost of education. A figure of 20 per cent of recurring
cost is
considered reasonable in the international scale.
*Interest of education loans are too high. Govt. should pay more attention
3. Education loan system and try to let its interest rate down.
*Scholarship schemes are not enough. Govt should pay attention towards it.
*Online study must be promoted well and contents must be make available
online.
*Open universities and distance education are also must be promoted.
Education is important to build the nation. Any country can't do anything
without well educated youth. So, we all should try to make children in
college. By making college dream of every child possible, we will surely be
the next superpower.
