Subject: Anna Parry, Letter of Reference
Dear Selection Committee,
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Anna Parry, who brings a professionalism to the classroom that is
rare among undergraduate students. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Anna in both Marketing Principles and Marketing
Research in the past year at Western Washington University
I’ve been impressed with Anna’s work ethic in my classes. I pursue a teaching method that is based on revising one’s
work after an initial submission. Students get a chance to identify their mistakes and resubmit the work to improve their
results – or they can choose to take the first score they achieved. While many students don’t’ make the effort to improve,
Anna took every opportunity to improve her work, never standing on her initial score. This attitude of improvement is key
to Anna’s character and is the single biggest reason I think she’ll be successful in your program and in life.
Anna has been actively involved in student life beyond the classroom. As a member of the Western Washington
University Student Marketing Association she is engaged in our main professional development program for marketers.
Of particular note is her role as founder of Women in Action, a student club devoted to examining women’s issues and
using collective action to seek solutions. It takes a great deal of leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit to get a club off
the ground, students being so busy with classes, home life working. Anna continually shows these qualities in class so it is
no surprise to me that she has had such a big impact.
Articulate and compassionate, Anna is a persuasive speaker who is skilled at connecting to an audience and moving them
towards a shared goal. She is one of those people whose passion and enthusiasm connects well with others. That quality
makes her an excellent manager and marketer.
In closing, Anna is a wonderful student. You would have to review many candidates to find one as professional, hard
working and with the leadership qualities as Anna Parry. Se will add value to your program an intern and student.

Sincerely,
Daniel Purdy
