Ang Kiukok was a Filipino painter born in 1931 in the Philippines. He started his schooling at age 5 and later studied Fine Arts in Manila. Some of his most notable works include Pieta and Boats. His style evolved to cubism in 1958. He was awarded National Artist by the President of the Philippines in 2001 in recognition of his artistic achievements and contributions. Ang Kiukok was known for his honest and unconventional paintings that depicted harsh truths in life. He continued painting passionately until his death in 2005.
