3. Target Audience
The target audience is Teens and Young Adults
from the genre of the band, as many old teens
and young adults in the age range of 16-21
would primarily listen to this type of music.
4. Genre
The genre is Indie/Alternative Rock seen by the
colour choices and band.

• Mise en Scene-Vest/shadow over face and half of body
6. Camera Subject-Male
The character seen in the promotional art and
album art is of a very unrecognisable figure
covered in coloured glitter.
The character is identified as a man and while this
could stereotype the target audience, the band I
actually a very diverse group (primarily with the
main member being a woman).
The use of the shadows over the face and
majority of the body hides their identity and
keeps the image simple with the black
background filling the whole page.
The dirty yellow colour contrasts the very dark
backgrounds and is used elsewhere on the poster.
7. Camera Shot-Medium
The shot used is in a medium shot to not take up
much of the page and help keep the text as more
impactful by filling both the top and bottom of the
page.
The use of being a medium shot allows it to not
obscure the text and vice versa, keeping the poster
and digipak clear and easy to read.
Another benefit of being in a medium shot allows
the creators of the promotion to have good
freedom with the size and layout of the
promotional advertisement.
8. Mise en Scene-Lighting
The shot is taken using low key lighting
and primarily very dark colours, while
contrasting with the brighter colours
on the character.
The low key lighting surrounding the
persons face and body adds a hint of
mystery and vulnerability to the shot.
The use of the coloured lighting on the
figure covers certain parts as well as
the glitter surrounding him. This can
connote a fun nature to the cover in a
sarcastic way with the dark and moody
colours with this fun character playing
(as glitter is primarily used with fun
events).
9. Mise en Scene-Black Background
The use of the black background helps keep
the entire cover looking seamless and not
disjointed, instead of having a border around
the writing to distinguish itself from the
background if it was in a different colour.
The colour choice also links to the type of
music, being indie/alternative rock and that
connoting grungy colours and murky
atmospheres.
10. Mise en scene-Props
Seen in this poster, the props used include a
vest and some coloured glitter.
The vest can connote manliness as this apparel
is often seen on builders and working men,
possibly linking to the target audience
(although the target audience is actually for
everyone based on their different forms of
music videos including gays and trans genders).
12. Text-Title
The handwritten approach for the text used in the title adds a level of sophistication to
the poster, possibly linking to the type of music they play or the type of character this
band is.
The size of the title is larger than the rest of the text and takes up a lot of the top of the
poster.
13. Text-Information
The font used for the album title and
information at the bottom of the page is done in
a serif font that looks very classical and once
again sophisticated.
There isn’t much text on the page, keeping it
short and sweet letting us know that it is a debut
album and has been released now. The size is
fairly small, being no wider than the character in
the centre of the page, leaving the background
free of obtrusions.
14. Labels
There are no labels mentioned on this
poster or any forms of credits, showing the
indie status of this band, how they aren’t a
band represented by a big record label and
company taking centre stage, leaving that
to their music.
