• Attention Grabbing- the most important thing in a poster is that it has to be attention grabbing as
this would encourage them to look and read the features on the poster
• The most successful posters are iconic as they would present the theme and genre without saying
what it is about, 'showing without telling’
• Creating interest to the audience- there should be something interesting on the poster so that the
audience is intrigued. This would encourage them to go and watch the film
• Style- the style of the poster should link to the theme/genre of the film so that it does not
confuse the audience
• Simplicity- it is vital that the poster is simple at there is not a lot going on. This is so the audience
could easily analyse the poster without missing out on any important information such as dates,
price etc…
• Recognisable- it is essential that the poster is recognisable so that it grabs the audiences attention
