 Shiv Nadar is an Indian Philanthropist & Industrialist 
 Founder & chairman of HCL and also Shiv Nadar 
Foundation. 
 Born in July 14, 1945 at Anna Nagar, Chennai. 
 His father is Sivasubramaniya and mother is Vamasundari 
Devi. 
 Graduation from the American college ,Madurai and 
degree in electrical and electronics engineering from PSG 
College of Technology.
 Spouse of Shiv Nadar is Kiran Nadar. 
 His daughter is Roshni Nadar. 
 He started his career at Walchand Group's Cooper 
Engineering in Pune in 1967. 
 Founded HCL in late 1970’s
 He is one of the richest person in India. 
 He is the only Indian to establish computer systems 
industry in India. 
 Nadar has committed to set aside well over 10 percent 
of his wealth for philanthropic endeavours. 
 Shiv Nadar is a member of the governing board of 
the Public Health Foundation of India.
 In 2008 , he was honored with padambhushana for his 
efforts in IT industry. 
 In 2009, he was counted amongst Forbes 48 Heroes of 
Philanthropy in Asia Pacific. 
 In 2010,he received Dataquest Lifetime Achievement 
Award.
PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVITIES 
 Shiv foundation is the philanthropic arm of HCL promoter 
Shiv Nadar. 
 Shiv Foundation run schools in Uttar Pradesh for 
underprivileged students. 
 And also runs Shiv Nadar university in greater Noida 
 Foundation invested 400 crores in 2 boarding schools in 
Uttar Pradesh .
 VidyaGyan schools have world wide and sprawling 
campuses in Bulandshahr & Sitapur districts. 
 The first VidyaGyan school was set up in Bulandshahr in 
2009. 
 The second VidyaGyan school set up in Sitapur in 2011. 
 At present ,the two schools have a combined capacity of 
1400 students and targeted to increase the capacity of 
4200 in next 5 years.
 Foundation has recently acquired 10 acres of additional 
land in Bulandshahr to ramp up facilities & infrastructure 
on the existing campus. 
 It boasts of conducting one of the largest private 
selection and admission process in India. 
 Last year it had signed a memorandum with the state 
government to conducting the selection procedure in 75 
districts of Uttar Pradesh.
 Students come from families of farmers and daily wagers 
in rural Uttar Pradesh . 
 Having income less than 1 lakh. 
 The foundation has committed Rs.5000 crores towards 
philanthropic activities. 
 2900 crores are already committed.
