Introduction – Organizational Study
The Organizational Study was conducted to have a practical knowledge
about an organization, other than the classroom knowledge; First hand
information about “What really happens in an organization, what are the
different departments and their function”.
Need Of the Study
Health care sector is the one of the fastest growing sectors in India. Also
Hospital is one of the most complex structured organizations amongst all
industries at present because of IT revolutions, consumerism and specialization
in different fields, Hospital as an organization got new dimensions.
The study helped to have an overall understanding of the industry, the
organization, its departments and their functions.
Objectives Of The Study
 To have a familiarity and practical experience with a reputed service firm.
 To have first hand information about overall functions of the organization.
 To study the different departments and their functions in the organization.
 To understand how the key business process are carried out in the
organization.
 To analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the
organization.

Research Methodology
Limitations of the Study
 This study was mainly based on primary data obtained from the interviews
with managers and therefore there are chances of personal bias.
 The top managements were reluctant to disclose matters related to the internal
affairs of the company. Due to the non availability of financial information,
evaluation of profitability and other related study was not possible
 To understand the organization and its working, the period of one month was
not enough. So time was the most important limiting factor of the study.
 Because of the busy working schedule of various department heads full
information can’t be gathered.
Industrial Profile
Health care industry comprises of providers of diagnostic, preventive,
remedial, and therapeutic services such as doctors, nurses, hospitals and other
private, public, and voluntary organizations. It also includes medical
equipment and pharmaceutical manufacturers and health insurance firms.
The health care industry is one of the world’s largest and fastest- growing
industries, consuming over 10 percent of GDP of most developed nations.
The Indian healthcare industry is going through a growth phase due to its
healthy economy. Today, the health care industry in India is worth $17 billion
and there are anticipation and expectation of it to grow by 13% every year.
 High level of education and greater health consciousness have
played a key role in the attainment of good health standards in
Kerala, with the mushrooming of private hospitals that offer
quality services matching international standards
Organization Profile
Polakkulath Narayanan Renai Medicity is a multi-super
specialty hospital founded in April 2012 by Polakkulath Group of
Hotels, Resorts & Healthcare (PGHR). It was built in the memory
of Late Polakkulath Narayanan, founder of PGHR, who had the
dream of providing Accessible, Affordable and quality healthcare
services to people.

2.Conducting promotional activities like medical
camp, field work etc.
3.Making good terms and deals with tour operators
for including Renai medicity as a destination for
health tourists.
4.Developing marketing strategies/ Develop medical
services in such a way to outrun the competitors.

WEAKNESS
 Renai Medicity does not follow the decentralization in the
organization
 Management do not collect the opinions or suggestion from the
employees and they do no give proper consideration to the
problems they are facing in the work
 Employee’s satisfaction is less in the organization
 No proper consultation from the doctor’s side, doctors is not
available in the correct consultation time
 Specialists services not available all days
 The hospital is not fully computerized
OPPORTUNITIES
 Ever increasing demand for medical care services
 Booming of health tourism
 Collaboration with Ayurveda
 Accessible location of the hospital
THREATS
 Increasing competition in the hospital industry. Many new
players have entered the field like Aster Medcity, Rajagiri etc.
 Increasing Employee turnover
 Latest advancement and innovation in the medical field.
[Inability to update with the changes will affect the competition
advantage of the firm. ( Eg.Robots doing surgeries in Aster
Medcity.)]
FINDINGS
 Exist tight competition in the industry
 The demand for specialized healthcare services is increasing at a
steady rate.
 The hospital has experienced doctors providing quality services
 All the employees knows very well about their work
 Most of the employees are not satisfied with the remuneration
given by the hospital
 The departments includes Administration, Human resource,
Purchase, Accounts and Finance and marketing; each having its
own duties and responsibilities.
 There is a good co-ordination between departments of the
organization.
 The organization follows centralized form of management
 The organization does not collect suggestions from the
employees.
 24 hours working casualty, ambulance, radiology and imaging,
CT scan, blood bank, ultra sounds, pharmacy, lab, X-ray, ECG,
and accident emergency facilities gives competitive advantage.
 Wide range medical department and large number of specialist
doctors are the main strength of the Hospital.
 Booming health tourism and scope of Ayurveda give
tremendous opportunities for growth.
 The decision making authority is entirely vested with top level
management.
SUGGESTIONS
 Organization should study about employee’s dissatisfaction in the
work, arrange more welfare activities
 Conduct a committee once in a month, and collect feedback from
all the departments. It will ensure work efficiency of all
departments
 There should be some consideration regarding the remuneration
package.
 Arrange more Training and development programs to all the
employees, like spoken English classes, and conducting seminars
about useful topics
 Need proper time management for doctor’s consultation

Introduction – Organizational Study The Organizational Study was conducted to have a practical knowledge about an organization, other than the classroom knowledge; First hand information about “What really happens in an organization, what are the different departments and their function”. Need Of the Study Health care sector is the one of the fastest growing sectors in India. Also Hospital is one of the most complex structured organizations amongst all industries at present because of IT revolutions, consumerism and specialization in different fields, Hospital as an organization got new dimensions. The study helped to have an overall understanding of the industry, the organization, its departments and their functions.

Objectives Of The Study  To have a familiarity and practical experience with a reputed service firm.  To have first hand information about overall functions of the organization.  To study the different departments and their functions in the organization.  To understand how the key business process are carried out in the organization.  To analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the organization.

Limitations of the Study  This study was mainly based on primary data obtained from the interviews with managers and therefore there are chances of personal bias.  The top managements were reluctant to disclose matters related to the internal affairs of the company. Due to the non availability of financial information, evaluation of profitability and other related study was not possible  To understand the organization and its working, the period of one month was not enough. So time was the most important limiting factor of the study.  Because of the busy working schedule of various department heads full information can’t be gathered.

[Inability to update with the changes will affect the competition advantage of the firm. ( Eg.Robots doing surgeries in Aster Medcity.)]

FINDINGS  Exist tight competition in the industry  The demand for specialized healthcare services is increasing at a steady rate.  The hospital has experienced doctors providing quality services  All the employees knows very well about their work  Most of the employees are not satisfied with the remuneration given by the hospital  The departments includes Administration, Human resource, Purchase, Accounts and Finance and marketing; each having its own duties and responsibilities.
  • 25.  There is a good co-ordination between departments of the organization.  The organization follows centralized form of management  The organization does not collect suggestions from the employees.  24 hours working casualty, ambulance, radiology and imaging, CT scan, blood bank, ultra sounds, pharmacy, lab, X-ray, ECG, and accident emergency facilities gives competitive advantage.
  • 26.  Wide range medical department and large number of specialist doctors are the main strength of the Hospital.  Booming health tourism and scope of Ayurveda give tremendous opportunities for growth.  The decision making authority is entirely vested with top level management.

SUGGESTIONS  Organization should study about employee’s dissatisfaction in the work, arrange more welfare activities  Conduct a committee once in a month, and collect feedback from all the departments. It will ensure work efficiency of all departments  There should be some consideration regarding the remuneration package.  Arrange more Training and development programs to all the employees, like spoken English classes, and conducting seminars about useful topics  Need proper time management for doctor’s consultation
