The document describes Career Connections, a professional networking program for alumni of Alliant International University. Through Career Connections, alumni can provide career advice and job assistance to current students and fellow alumni. This is done through informational interviews, guest speaking engagements, career fairs, internships, and other networking opportunities. The purpose is to help students transition successfully from school to their careers. Alumni are asked to fill out a form indicating which activities they would be willing to participate in.

What is Career Connections?
Career Connections consists of a network of professional Alliant International University alumni
in various occupational areas who have agreed to assist students and alumni either in person,
phone, or email, with career information and job search advice.
Who Should Join?
We are looking for Alliant alumni in all career fields to share experiences with students and
fellow alumnus through informational interviews, participating in guest speaker events (panel
presentations and workshops), job shadowing; internships, career fairs, and other networking
events. Help students make a smooth transition from school to work by sharing your personal
experiences on how you got started in your field, what you have learned on the job, tips for job
hunting and networking, and current trends and market outlook.
What is an Informational Interview?
An informational interview is a brief (20 – 30 minutes) advising session conducted by phone,
email, or in-person. The purpose is for students and alumni to gain advice from professionals in
career fields they would like to explore. Students are aware that it is not appropriate to ask for a
job or internship during the interview. They are simply asking for advice.
How Will Students Contact Me?
Students will contact you by phone or via email to set up an interview time. Your personal
contact information is kept in the Director of Career Services office at the Scripps Ranch campus
and is only available to students who are educated on how to conduct an interview and how to
appropriately contact alumni.
How Do I Get Involved?
If you are interested in participating in any of these programs please complete the enclosed form
