This hands on workshop will enable you to register for Aztec Career Connection and get an overview of the resources it offers.
First, ask students: why students come to Career Services: than show the answers.
Invite students to return to career services to meet with a Career Counselor, complete a Career Assessment, explore careers and employers, get a resume critique, conduct practice interviews, attend employer information sessions, attend other workshops offered.
Self-assessment is a process by which you learn more about yourself: what you like, what you don't like, and how you tend to react to certain situations. Knowing these things can help you determine which occupations and work situations could be a better fit for you.
Career planning assessments help you select one or more career paths to explore by matching your interests, skills, and work values to occupations.

Internships appear to be a critical part of students education. Internships allow students to explore fields, industries and companies. Internships allow students the opportunity to network and try out new skills.

This is a great opportunity to save time and effort; and meet a variety of employers in a short period of time. Take advantage of these Career Fairs, prepare your resume ahead of time and dress for success!
Offered by Counselors: Workshops on how to select a major, write resumes, interview effectively, and conduct your job search. These workshops will teach you life long skills that you will be able to utilize towards your job search now, and will later be able to utilize as you develop your career and move from one job to the other.
Employer info sessions: Employers will tell you about their career and internship positions, their work settings, and what the industry is like. This is essential preparation for on-campus interviews.
Remind students to check frequently. We add special workshops all the time.
*Perfect Interview is a simulated interview with video tapped questions that allows you to submit answers either by video camera or inputting answers giving feedback and hints to improve your performance.
*Type Focus is a career assessment that provides individualized information about personality preference patterns, career satisfaction and career options.
*Vault gives student access to salary surveys, employer guides, occupation profiles, industry research, career surveys, career advice articles and more. Click on and down contents.
Recommend to students to take a tour of the Resource Room after the presentation
Give a brief explanation of information available pointing out specific resources (you can bring a couple of books for demonstration)
Recommend to the students to utilize this newly gained knowledge of the different services offered to plan a head-start today in order to achieve their goals in the future.
