The Beginnings of Oakmont Pennsylvania
Oakmont was incorporated on March 4, 1889, but the community began seventy three years
earlier when a farmer named Michael Bright moved onto a 234 acre tract with his family. This
area formed a sizable part of Oakmont today Between that time and the creation of the borough,
much happened that shaped the town. The town developed from farms owned by early settlers
Michael Bright, Jonathan Hulton, David Grier, and Caleb Lee, into a thriving semi residential, semi
industrial community. Even dating before this there may have been Indian settlements near the
mouth of Plum Creek. Indians may not have lived in Oakmont at the time but they definitely

In this experiment, we would like to prepare ice cream by using milk, cream, sucrose, stabilizer

place by the founding fathers back in 1787. When voters casts their ballots, they are actually

of electors a state has is equivalent to the number of representatives they have plus the 2 seats in

In the film, Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee, is a story of African Americans and
Italian Americans that live in local residents. This film takes place on the hottest and longest day
in Brooklyn, New York. Lee represents himself, Mookie, an African American delivery boy at a
pizzeria. Throughout the film, Lee establishes two main characters that illustrate the right thing ,
starting Salvatore is known as Sal, an Italian who owns a pizzeria. Radio Raheem is an African
American enjoys his boom box music. In particular, Sal becomes upset when Radio Raheem

Vivisection (dissection of living organisms) was first practiced on humans in ancient Rome, but it
was soon prohibited and thus the need for animal subjects.

Aristotle argued that animals lacked intelligence, and so the meaning of right and wrong had no
meaning to them. Theophrastus, Aristotle s successor, disagreed and objected to the vivisection of
animals on the idea that like humans, they can feel pain, and causing pain to animals was an insult
to the gods. Descartes knew that animals could feel, but lacked a conscious, thus he argued that
they were unable to consciously experience those feelings. Many others believed that animals were

In regards to communication between groups, being apart of the finance group we had difficulties
obtaining the final budgets from each group. Even when we told the leaders to remind all the
groups that we need their updated budgets we still had issues with receiving them. Another
challenge that we had was deciding on a theme. I feel that it took as a large chunk of planning
time just deciding on what we wanted to do. If we would have established a theme in the
beginning of the planning, we could have had more time making decorations or props rather than
doing them the night before. This may have reduced the stress levels. Additionally, it would have
been nice to have an increase in numbers. Understanding that this was the first time putting on the
event it is hard to get a large crowd to come. There might have been a chance to have an increase
in numbers if there was more time to get the word out and we tried to have each staff member
bring one person.

/program There are a number of things that I would have done differently based on my group and
