2. Communication
Communication is very important when I start
my teaching at my schools because everyone
has to be on the same page. If we aren’t all
on the same page then lessons and units
won’t go as planned. It’s important to my
success as a teacher that my cooperative
teacher and university supervisor know what
I’m thinking and what I have planned so they
can give me tips or to help me better prepare
for situations I might be faced with.

3. Models and Planning
Since being introduced to the TGFU model I have really grown to like it and
want to implement it. I really like the format of this model because it explains
the skill of the day then has an extension to help improve/ work on it and then
in the application task it includes and game that focuses on it. Of course with
planning and rules I‘m going to want to use the same base that my cooperative
teacher has implemented. That first week that I will be observing I will take
down notes on things I like and try to add on to what I would like to add and ask
my chains of commands their opinions on what I think.
4. Situated Learning
When I get to my placement it’s my job to talk to my cooperative teacher and
see what model of teaching he uses and that way we can talk and collaborate
what I would like to use but still implement some of his ideas. It’s also important
when I observe him with his students to see his interactions and what kinds of
rules and behavior contingencies he uses. This way I can use most of the same
things so the students don’t have to adapt to a whole new system. It’s important
to also get to know the school I’m at and interact because it creates networking
opportunities and shows I care and maybe other teachers can add tips that
might make my teaching transition easier.
5. Reflection of Action
Action experience revisit experience, reevaluate, express
feelings
There many tools that you can use to reflect your teaching. In my opinion the
tools I think I will use the most is video taping myself, journal writing and asking
my cooperative teacher and university supervisors there thoughts of how my
lesson went. I really like the journal because right after you teach you can write
quick notes on how you felt and what you liked and didn’t like and use it for the
rest of the days classes.
6. Video Tape Analysis
Weeks 1-2 : When I video myself early on I want to see how my organization
and student behavior is. I will assess what I could improve on and what is
working.
Weeks 3-4 : After the first couple of weeks go by my organization should be up
to par and then I need to start assessing my goals with my students and how
my activities are going and if my students are learning the skills that I’m trying
to teach.
Weeks 5-6 : This part of the analysis will be to assess my assessment of my
students and me as a teacher. How well are my lessons, do I have all my parts,
are my students learning the skills and could they apply them outside the PE
setting.
7. Post Teaching Reflection
After every class/ day I need to communicate with my cooperative teacher and
see how I’m doing. They are going to know these students best when I get
there and they will be able to give me insight on what I can do to reach them
best. If a lesson goes well/ bad they will be able to help me out on what I could
do to improve it or let me know what I did that really worked because when
teaching you might not realize what you did at the time. My university
supervisor won’t be there everyday but it will be important to stay in constant
contact with them and keep them updated with how I’m doing.
8. Conferences
When planning my lessons or unit plans it will be important to finish them early
and have both cooperative teacher and university supervisor to take a glance at
them to see if I’m on track. Also to talk to both to set goals or targets for not
only my students but for myself. For example set targets like for each unit
specific skills or activities that you want your students to learn or achieve. I also
want to set goals to give to my cooperative teachers so they can track progress
and see how much I’ve grown since week 1. Weekly meetings will also be
important because you can sum up each week and see what went well and
what could had been changed.
9. Conclusion
In conclusion your teaching will go and far as your communication level with
your supporting teachers. They will be there to give you support, help, and
whatever you need. If you distance yourself you won't be successful. It’s
important that your always a step ahead with your planning so you're not
rushing around trying to wing things. Then finally stay on top of your reflections
because the end results will make you a better teacher.
