2. Collaboration to me is:
is working as a team to
complete tasks and to
achieve goals that
benefit all
Requires Leadership and
compliance
Compromising in the
best interest of all
involved
Putting the best interest
of students first
"the whole is greater than
the sum of the parts"
3. How I Plan to Incorporate More
Collaboration
Always making it to staff meetings and IEP meetings
Organizing a once a moth get-together with teachers
where we order lunch and discuss nothing school
related, we just work on building relationships
Attend team building workshops and advocate team
activities in my district
Collaboration is not hockey:

4. After taking this course I know…
Just how important and complicated collaboration can be
This course has also resulted in me taking a closer look
at my teaching philosophy I have included:
cultural awareness, having an open mind, and seeing
constructive criticism as a way to better myself as an educator
In order to be proactive and an asset to my school I
must be able to problem solve proactively
For example: if I do not agree with a change in policy I should
first come to my administrator with a possible solution rather
than just a complaint
Collaboration affects everyone in the school including
student and parents
Not every task has to be collaborative but in a
collaborative environment there is room for growth and
open expression of thoughts
5. Real Life
After exploring new technology throughout this course I
also plan to incorporate some new ideas into my lesson
planning
For example: PowToons can be used to animate classroom
expectations -- http://www.powtoon.com/p/fYwPntm58x7/
or for students create and apply what they have learned at
the end of a lesson
I will make a point to touch base with my co-workers and
ask for their feedback
Already I have rallied my co-workers and organized a team
building pot luck meal
6. How has this Course Affected Me…
Collaboration is important in the classroom with students
as well

ded&v=in_wHiw9hkY
I will embrace change and help my co—workers do the
same
I will go into every meeting with an open mind and
positive attitude
When meeting collaboratively with my team teachers I
will make sure that roles and responsibilities are clearly
defined so we can accomplish greater tasks
7. How has this Course
Improved my Ability to
Teach…
As a future educator who will be working with students
and staff, I will make an effort to make statements that
seek information. The statements that I make need to
be stated in a way that will encourage/inspire those
around me to become an active participant in the
discussions.
I recognize the value of each member of my team, I will
make an effort to seek out ways I can help
others, including my students, more than I point fingers
and complain about increased work loads and duties.
I will teach my students real world problem solving
skills, how to collaborate with peers, and more
importantly infuse cultural diversity and tolerance into
the classroom.
8. How Will this Course Impact
me as a Teacher…
I will deepen the learning process of all my students
with ideas that are challenging and push learners to
produce work that exceeds their expectations of what
they thought they could do.
I will incorporate more collaboration into my teaching by
challenging my students to:
Investigate issues/think out side the box
Exchange ideas
Share and delegate tasks
Participate in peer reviews
Provide feedback on lessons and activities
9. Why Collaboration Matters
A healthier work environment which = happy employees
Increased student learning which = happy parents
When educators care the system can only get better
Can provide organization and a new passion for teaching
New teachers can be supported
10. Great Collaboration Tools
Learning by Doing: A
Handbook for
Professional Learning
Communities at Work
These two books were provided to
all teachers during PLC
implementation and They are a
great guides for developing
collaboration
