Introduction
 Albendazole is a broad-spectrum oral anthelmintic agent.
 It is the drug of choice for treatment of hydatid disease and cysticercosis. It is also used in the
treatment of pinworm and hookworm, round worm, whip worm, and thread worm infections.
Mechanism Of Action of albendazole
 Blocks glucose uptake
 Binds with β tubulin & inhibits microtubules polymerization
Side Effects
 Side effects include Epigastric pains,
Diarrhoea,
Dizziness,
Constipation,
Contraindication
 Hypersensitivity to Albendazole Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Albendazole Tablet
should not be used if you have the following conditions: Alcohol
Live vaccines
Pregnancy
Severe renal impairment
 Including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
 Praziquantel
 Cimetidine

Mannitol 268.9 mg Diluent
Povidone K-30 5 mg Polymer
SLS 4 mg Wetting agent
Sodium Saccharin 4.1 mg Sweetening agent
Croscarmillose Sodium 10 mg Disintegrant
Orange Flavor 5.5 mg Flavor
Magnesium Stearate 2.5 mg Lubricant
Purified Water Q.S
Final weight of tablet = 850 mg API ( Albendazole ) = 400 mg Excipients = 450 mg
Method
• The granules are prepared by wet granulation method.
• Albendazole, maize starch, lactose monohydrate, and SLS were loaded into Rapid Mixer to get a
dry mix.
• The above dry mix was granulated with binder solution and dried in the rapid drier at 60C
• the granules were mixed with (CCS), sodium saccharin, orange flavour in a granulator for 10
minutes adding lubricant (MS) and
• Blending and tablet formation by 8 station rotary press tablet compression machine.
