In July 2010, member of the Akili Dada Akili Dada is a nonprofit organization basedin Kenya and the U.S. that seeks to empower the next generation of African women leaders by providing mentoring, leadership training, and scholarships to girls from underprivileged backgrounds in Kenya. In July 2010, the U.S. team (board members and volunteers) joined the team in Kenya to visit potential partner organizations, interview new scholars, and participate in the annual Akili Dada mentoring conference.

With support from the Foundation for International Cardiac & Children's Services (FICCS), Celestine was able to continue her education to escape this fate. FICCS aims to empower women and girls through education, healthcare services, and job training programs. The organization operates a Women's Center that provides classes, counseling, and skills development to build confidence and independence.
Friends United Ministries 2011
Friends United Meeting (FUM) oversees various ministries around the world aimed at evangelism, education, and community development. These include schools and hospitals in Belize, Ramallah, and various locations in Kenya. In Kenya specifically, FUM supports the Africa Ministries Office, Kaimosi Hospital, Lugulu Hospital, Friends Theological College, the Friends Church Peace Team working in conflict areas, and development projects among the Samburu and Turkana peoples.
