Cross-cultural communication is important for several reasons: as globalization increases cross-border movement, it brings more cultures into contact with each other, creating business and job opportunities. It also improves diversity in workforces by allowing employees from different cultures to share views and ideas. To communicate effectively across cultures requires understanding that culture shapes one's perspective and that different cultures may interpret verbal and nonverbal cues differently. Adapting to other cultures helps take advantage of opportunities in a globalized world.
