INTERIOR SERVICES - AIR CONDITIONING
DEFINATION
 Air conditioning is the process of conditioning the air of an
occupied space in order to maintain a relationship between
temperature and humidity. ... For this reason, during the
summertime, air conditioning will be your best ally to cool your place
so you can enjoy your daily activities in a comfortable environment.
HISTORY
 IN 1902, THE FIRST MODERN ELECTRICAL AIR
CONDITIONING UNIT WAS INVENTED BY “ WILLIS
CARRIER”, IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES OF AIR CONDITIONER
ADVANTAGES
 INCREASE IN
PRODUCTIVTY.
 PROTECTION AGAINST
HEAT STROKES.
 CAN HELP AGAINST
HEAT STROKES.
 AIR CONDITIONING
WILL BE CRUCIAL IN
THE FUTURE.
 IT CAN PREVENT DE -
HYDRATION.
DIS ADVANTAGES
 NEEDS PLENTY OF
ENERGY.
 CAN BE COSTLY.
 CONTRIBUTES TO
GLOBAL WARMING.
 MAINTENANCE
EFFORTS.
 EXCESSIVE USE MAY
BE BAD FOR THE
CIRCULATORY
SYSTEM.
TYPES OF AIR CONDITIONING
 WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER
 SPLIT AIR CONDITIONER
 CENTRAL OR CEILING CASSETTE AIR
CONDITIONER
WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER
 A window air conditioner is the simplest type of AC unit. It's a single
unit with all of the parts and components contained inside one box or
casing. This type of AC is usually mounted or installed in a window
and plugs into a traditional electrical outlet.
 These type of air conditioners are most common used and cheapest
air conditioner.
PROS & CONS OF WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER
PROS:
 RELATIVELY
AFFORDABLE.
 EASIER TO INSTALL &
UNINSTALL.
 EASY RE-LOCATION.
 EASIER TO MAINTAIN.
 IDEAL FOR SMALLER
ROOMS & WITH
SPACE CONSTRAINTS.
CONS:
 NOISY.
 UNSOPHISTICATED
DESIGN.
 BLOCK WINDOW VIEW.
 NOT IDEAL FOR VERY
LARGE SIZED ROOM.
PRICEING OF WINDOW AC
SPLIT AIR CONDITIONER
 A split unit air conditioner is an air conditioning system that
consists out of two separate units; the water or air-cooled
condensing unit and the air handling unit. As the condensing unit
isn't placed inside the conditioned area, the split unit air conditioner
system is a lot more quiet.
 It has two units: Indoor unit & Outdoor unit. Indoor unit consists of
components like the compressor, condenser, expansion valve, where
as Outdoor unit comprises components like the evaporator or cooling
coil or the cooling fan.
PROS & CONS OF SPLIT AIR CONDITIONER
PROS:
 FASTER COOLING
ESPECIALLY FOR
LARGER ROOMS.
 LOW NOISE.
 CAN BE INSATLLED IN
ALMOST ANY WALL.
 AESTHETICALLY
PLEASING.
CONS:
 COSTLY THEN WINDOW
AC.
 HARDER & EXPENSIVE
INSTALLATION
PROCESS.
 HIGHER MAINTENANCE
COST.
PRICEING OF SPLIT AC
CENTRAL OR CEILING CASSATTE AIR COND.
 Central air conditioners circulate cool air through a system of supply
and return ducts. Supply ducts and registers (i.e., openings in the
walls, floors, or ceilings covered by grills) carry cooled air from the air
conditioner to the home. This cooled air becomes warmer as it
circulates through the home; then it flows back to the central air
conditioner through return ducts and registers.
 They are commonly used in large buildings , hotels, theaters,
shopping malls, airports etc.
PROS & CONS OF CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONER
PROS:
 A CONSISTENT
TEMPERATURE YEAR
ROUND.
 FILTERED AIR.
 THE THERMOSTAT IS
PROGRAMMABLE.
CONS:
 MORE EXPENSIVE
ENERGY BILLS.
 MOULD & MILDEW
DEVELOP MORE.
 DUCTS &
INSTALLATION CAN
ALSO BE EXPENSIVE.
PRICEING
The famous brands in India for central AC are LG and
Voltas. Inventory and installation cost shall be around 2–
2.5 Lakhs. Maintenance cost shall be of 10–15k per year
depending on Usage
