This document describes the design of an affordable and high-efficiency inverter. It uses an IC4049 oscillator circuit to produce a square wave output from a DC input voltage that is stepped up via a transformer to produce a high voltage AC output. A charging circuit is also included to charge the battery when mains power is restored. The circuit diagram and description are provided. Testing showed the designed inverter successfully converts the DC battery voltage to a high voltage AC output to power loads, with the goal of providing a low-cost solution to power electrical devices during power outages.
