Pink Floyd was an influential English rock band known for their progressive and psychedelic music, philosophical lyrics, and elaborate live shows. They had great commercial success and musical impact. The band was originally founded by Syd Barrett, who was the initial lead singer and guitarist but left in 1968 due possibly to mental health issues exacerbated by drug use. One of Pink Floyd's most famous and commercially successful albums was 1979's The Wall, a rock opera that was later adapted into a feature film and performed live with theatrical elements.
