PRÍSLOVKY SPÔSOBU

2. Vo väčšine prípadov tvoríme príslovky spôsobu (AKO?
AKÝM SPôSOBOM?) pridaním koncovky
“–ly” k prídavnému menu (AKÝ/Á/É?):
They are very quick .
(Sú veľmi rýchli = akí...)
They can run very quickly.
(Dokážu bežať veľmi rýchlo
= ako...)

3. Príslovky spôsobu nemožno utvoriť z prídavných mien
zakončených na “-ly”:
friendly (priateľský), lovely (pôvabný), lonely, silly, atď.
V takomto prípade tvoríme príslovky tzv. opisným spôsobom,
a to napr. pridaním slovíčka “way” alebo “manner”:
He was very friendly (priateľský = aký...).
He shook my hand (friendlily)
in a friendly way/manner
(priateľsky/priateľským spôsobom
= ako...).

4. V AJ však existujú aj prídavné mená, z ktorých možno
vytvoriť príslovky dvoma spôsobmi.
Buď zostávajú v tvare prídavného mena (hard) alebo k nim
pridávame koncovku “-ly” (hardly).
V takomto prípade však nadobúdajú iný význam.
HARD (ťažký/ťažko) HARDLY (sotva)
LATE (neskorý/neskoro) LATELY (v poslednom čase)
NEAR (blízky/blízko) NEARLY (takmer)
WIDE (široký/dokorán/doširoka) WIDELY (značne/veľmi/všeobecne)
HIGH (vysoký/o) HIGHLY (+ adjective: highly intelligent)

5. Príklady vo vetách:
She left the door wide open. The shop is near our house.
Nechala dvere otvorené dokorán. Obchod je blízko/neďaleko nášho
domu.
He is a widely known writer. I am nearly there.
Je všeobecne/veľmi dobre známym Už som skoro/takmer tam.

6. Za sponovými slovesami (be, become, seem, appear,
remain...), medzi ktoré patria aj slovesá zmyslového
vnímania (sound, taste, feel, smell, look...) sa v AJ príslovky
nepoužívajú!
Example:
The chicken tastes delicious(ly).
To kura chutí výborne.
That sounds great(ly).
To znie skvelo.

7. Prídavné mená “good” a “fast” majú svoje vlastné
tvary, a to: “well” a “fast”.
Poznámka:
I feel good. ( - byť v dobrej nálade)
I feel well. ( - byť zdravý)

8. Underline the correct form of an
ADJECTIVE/ADVERB.
 I like wearing (comfortable/comfortably) clothes.
 She is (happy/happily) married.
 The fruit juice is off. It tastes (bitter/bitterly).
 If you want to learn the guitar, you have to practice (regular/regularly).
 She looked at me (sad/sadly).
 She did quite (good/well) in her finals.
 I got up (late/lately) yesterday morning.
 He (hard/hardly) ever tells me the truth.
 He's always very (serious/seriously).
 It is a very (fast/fastly) car.
 She looks really (beautiful/beautifuly).
 The plane was flying quite (high/highly).
 He was ill and he still doesn't feel very (good/well).
 He behaved very (bad/badly).
 I don't speak (perfect/perfectly) German.
