This document defines and provides examples of the different types of adverbs: Adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives, other adverbs, and entire sentences. The main types are adverbs of manner, place, time, degree, frequency, relative adverbs, and interrogative adverbs. Examples are given for each type to illustrate how they answer questions about how, where, when, how much, how often, and for interrogatives. Adverbs of manner often end in "ly" and describe how an action is performed, such as "quickly" or "gently".
