Adverb of Place:
Some words or phrases answer the question “where?” They are called adverbs of
place.
Examples:
1. The boys are playing upstairs.
2. The dog is in the garden.
3. I have lived here for about two years.
4. Is Bob still in bed?
5. His children go everywhere with him.

9. Adverb of Manner:
Some words or phrases describe the way an action is done. They are called
adverbs of manner.
• The girl answered all the questions correctly.
• He was driving carelessly.
• The plane landed safely.
• Jia plays guitar skillfully.

Some words or phrases answer the question “how often an action is done”.
They are called adverbs of frequency.
• The children always take the bus to school.
• I’ll never make that mistake again.
• He cleans his bedroom everyday.
• Dad polishes his shoes twice a week.

Words that show – “how much, or in what degree or to what extent”.
• He was too careless.
• The sea is very stormy.

Words that tell about a reason or purpose of an action, are called adverb of
reason.
• He is penniless hence he’s unable to pay.
• She therefore left school.
• We stayed indoors because it was raining.
• I didn’t go to school since I was ill.
• We left early so that we could reach on time.

affirmation/negation :
Which says yes, if it is yes and no, if it is no.
• I don’t know.
• You are surely mistaken.
• She truly enjoyed the show.
