3. History
-The design research and its evolution are described in a snap shot in the following timeline.
-The research on interior designs in Healthcare sector developed in the period 1978-1991.
-Then there were some enlightened clients which promoted more of open to nature designs.
-During 1995-1997 there were some innovators and risk Takers.
Presented by : Nitin Sharma P 2/20
-Then there were some Major projects which included connection with nature through incorporating
oxygen rich varieties. Then there were some design principles evolved:
-Provide access to gardens when possible. -Create comfortable size rooms.
-Increase quantity and size of windows. -Provide decentralized, barrier-free nursing stations
-Create family zones in patient rooms.

10. Electric operable partitions
Provide a visually stunning and flexible
space
Panels are 4in thick
Panels are hinged together and are
operated by two electric key switches for
fast, safe set-up.
Maximum Ht. 9.2m
Mechanically retracted bottom seals
Partition travels across the opening
without causing damage to the floor and
accommodates deflection and floor
variance.
Maintains acoustics over time and adds
stability to the partition when extended.
Low profile hinges
Interlocking vertical seals
panel-to-panel alignment and prevents
sound leaks between panels.

13. Wayfinding(signages)
This relationship requires the user to form an overall
mental image of the layout of the place. This image
is referred to as the cognitive map of the setting
Wayfinding applications can direct visitors from
point to point within facilities, thus speeding-up the
process of finding a patient room or check-in area.
Functional efficiency
Visitor accessibility
Safety
Patient empowerment, improving cognitive skills
in spatial understanding
Improved bottom line

operation and integrated with BMS/a range of
control options

15. Elements
Furniture
Mechanical Electic operated beds made of Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is a
common thermoplastic polymer used in Hospital Beds.
-The basic modern hospital bed is called an electric bed
Smart Beds - Microprocessors installed
in the bed measuring respiration patterns
will sense when breathing has ceased, as
well as move the bed in such a way that the
individual resumes breathing.

16. Elements
Overhead Track Lifts
Portable Floor LiftsCeiling Mounted Lifts Free Standing Overhead Lifts
Ceiling structure must support
weight of lift and person.
Overhead track lifts can be
used in rooms with limited
floor space or where an exam
table cannot accommodate a
portable floor lift.
Do not require modifications to
existing construction.
While not as portable as floor
lifts with wheels, these lifts are
movable and can be relocated as
needs or services change.
A low height, adjustable
width base can move
closer to the end of the
exam table and can be
narrowed for transit
and storage.

17. Elements
Use of Copper fittings
Due to its intrinsic germ-killing properties,
copper is now being used in the development of
products and materials for health care interiors.
(5,000-year-old technology)
Copper, which begins to destroy these organisms
at a cellular level on contact.
When tested in Hospitals, infection dropped by
58 percent.
Presented by : Nitin Sharma P 17/20
Copper alloys installed in proximity
to hospitalized patients,
On items such as the bed rail, IV pole
and nurse call button,door handles,
push buttons for automatic doors,
faucet levers in public and patient
bathrooms, over-bed tabletops.
18. Bump rails and corner guards
Beds, food trolleys, medicine trolleys, drip stands, mop buckets
and wheelchairs are types of wheeled equipment.
Leads to accidents and mechanical damage to walls, corners and
exposed edges.
Bump-rails should be specified and fitted in key areas to
minimise repairs and prolong the wall finishes.
In addition, bump-rails are useful behind chair-backs in waiting
areas, where scuff marks are common.

19. Equipments
Moisture Control Dehumidifier
-Control humidity in Hospitals,
acting as a desiccant (a hygroscopic
substance used as a drying agent).
Presented by : Nitin Sharma P 19/20
-Keeping excessive moisture at bay.
With a Bry-Air dehumidifier.
-Surgeon can personally set the
temperature and humidity that
is most appropriate for each procedure.
-Those conditions will be maintained
regardless of existing mechanical
system in the rest of the building.
-The RH can be easily
controlled to 45% or lower, even
at temperatures below 65°F(18.3°C).
20. Elements
Equipments
Air purifier
Central filtration system
Presented by : Nitin Sharma P 20/20
-Capable of removing
relatively large particulates
like dust, dander, pollen,
fibres, mould spores and
fungus using a combination
of electrostatic precipitation,
HEPA and UV light.
-Sufficient to clean
large public areas to an
acceptable level of healthy
indoor air quality.
High-efficiency particulate arrestance (HEPA), also sometimes called high-efficiency
particulate arresting or high-efficiency particulate air, is a type of air filter.
Filters meeting the HEPA standard used in medical facilities
